[Q] Battery not charging. Stuck on Battery logo loop - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, here's what happened.
I have a N7000 and it's charger port stopped working a semester ago. So I bought a new one and replaced it. Everything went back to normal.
Now yesterday I was using my phone and it discharged (It discharges even while charging and browsing the internet for example), but I was talking with someone and I had to get back ASAP and conclude the conversation. So I took a older battery that's stuffed and pluged it in and finished what I was doing.
The thing is, now that I connect the newer battery (3 months old, original), I get stuck on a battery logo loop. The battery icon shows up with the circle that rotates in the middle, then the screen gets brighter, flickers a little (My phone always flicker at 25%~ battery) and goes black. Then it starts again and again in a loop.
The stuffed battery still works and is charging fine, with that said, I'm sure I don't have any problems with the charging port/cables/chargers.
I believe this has happened once before but I can't remember the procedure to fix it. Does anyone?
Thank you!

It almost sounds from what your describing like the charger block (not the cable itself) is not sending enough power down the cable, I would try either a different block or even a 2 amp charger block just to make sure.

Dead

I let my phone battery die, and now I can't turn it on.
Usually I get a red light which goes when the battery is in if its charging.
Sometimes I get a red light even when the battery is in and its charging.
If I do a soft reset, sometimes I get a flashing red light on the sides but then nothing.
I managed to get it back briefly by doing all manner of hard resets and soft resets, and taking the battery out and putting it back in over and over again for about half an hour...
Then I left it charging for half an hour or so and carelessly allowed the battery to die again because I needed to take it with me somewhere - so the same thing has happened again.
I left it charging overnight but I'm not having any luck with it this morning... any help would be much appreciated.
yeah similar problem here. my phone warned me the battery was low... i ignored the warning and used it until it died completely. then it wouldn't turn on. it was late so i just plugged it into the wall charger that came with the phone. i dont think it charged cause in the morning it was still flat. if anything i think having it connected to the charger while not charging drained the last a few drops of juice out of it. had a number of confusing red lights coming up in different spots at different times.
i read on here some guy managed to charge it by getting 3 AA batteries and connecting them directly to the battery for a couple of minuets. i did this and managed to turn the phone on! hoooray!
it had 1% and died in less than a couple of minuets even though i had it on the charger. tried the 3 AA battery trick again but to no avail. i think my battery is dead.
i'm pretty certain i will need to get a new one. i hope you are able to get yours working without buying a new battery.
im really annoyed the Sony Erricson batteries work out to be close to $100 AU. i would prefer to get a legit one... but does anyone have any experience with unofficial batteries? are they any good?
Sorry you're in the same boat... Ericsson really should have made this phone so that it can run out of battery.
Interesting - tell me more about the 3 AA battery trick!
sounds like the cells in your battery isnt balancing hence its dying...think you'll need to buy another one / or at least try another one to make sure it is and not the phone...
Hmmm... I fiddled and pressed buttons and took out the charger and put it in, and then kept pressing the on button while I was doing something else...
Suddenly it made the click noise, but it's not back yet.
It seems to have crashed on the 'Sony Ericsson' start up screen with the green logo.
I don't know if it's charging or not, so I'm not sure whether to turn it off to try again (at the risk of losing the battery), or leave it to charge as it is before I turn it off and can't start it again....
At least it's progress
There are a couple vof threads with many solutions. Look for them, they are very useful.
Yeah I've found a few - Thanks... just nothing they mentioned has worked yet
I think the problem I have may be a slightly different now anyway...
Now, if I unplug it I can't turn it on, but if it's plugged into my computer cable I can get it (every time - after about 3 minutes) to go to the Sony Ericsson loading screen but no further (as if there is no hard reset file for it to load). I can do that by plugging it in, then doing a soft reset (which produces flashing lights on the side) then holding on until it clicks (usually trying that a few times). When it clicks the lights on the side flash and it looks like it charges for a second before the lights go off and its just hte loading screen. I left it for 5 minutes and it turned off completely. Nothing happens if it's plugged into the wall cable at all.
Have you any idea how I might be able be get something to load after the loading screen?... Or any thoughts as to whether you think it's likely to be charging when its on that screen?
Thanks
Hmm... It seems you have a software problem as well.
Here is what I would do: get another battery (fully charged) and try one of these hard reset methods:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437607
Something should work...
Sweet - I managed to get the hard reset screen to ask me the question about going back to factory defaults... after that the lights on the side are coming on to show its charging....
I guess there's a chance that when the battery is charged it'll have the juice to get past the loading screen... I hope anyway.
Wow this title gave me a heart attack almost
i thought someone is dead
plz i need help
hello good day plz i neesd to flash my htc p3600 and sony ericcson cybershot i need a software i can use to flash them plz help me any body that has an idea
just ordered a 1800mAh mugen power replacement battery. should be here in about a week my old SE k800i will be getting a bit of a work out in the mean time.
i think this break from unnecessary technology which I'm far too attached to will do me good. I'm far too materialistic.

I/O 2012 N7 now hard shutting down (crashing)

I got my Nexus 7 at I/O this year and I've been happily using it for nearly a month now. I don't know if my device differs in any way from one you can get form google play other than the white back.
Last night I was plugged into my wall charger at around 14% battery and playing SongPop with my girlfriend when my screen just shut off. It was like when you hold the power button on a laptop and BOOM, everything is black. It wouldn't turn back on so I unplugged it and plugged it back in. Got a charging screen so I let it set for a bit.
I came back maybe 15 minutes later and I was at 9% battery, which was odd given I plugged into the wall at 14%. I played with the phone for maybe 30s after boot and it happened again, I saw some weird artifacts on the black screen as it quickly shut off and the speakers played an awful crackly screeching noise. Plugged it in again, came back a bit later, still at 9% and played with the device again, same issue only after a little more time.
I'm currently at work with my N7 plugged into my Galaxy Tab 10.1 charger and charging it from 0 to 16% currently. The device is on but I haven't been touching it (and I don't plan to until it's at 100%).
Has anyone else had this issue?
I cant tell if it's some way I'm touching the device that's causing it to shut down hard, some issue with the battery or charging that is causing a rapid battery drop or even a short in the way I'm holding it when it's plugged into the charger?
I don't really want to deal with ASUS warranty returns already, though I have been unable to find anyone else with the same issue through google, so I turn to you for advice and similar stories.
Mine did the same thing the second day I had it. Now it won't boot. I'm waiting for Google to send me a new one.

Mine did something similar last night. It was at about 6% battery charge and all of a sudden the screen just went black. I went and plugged it in, but it wouldn't power on completely (the screen was on but there was nothing there). I started seeing really thin, small green lines running down the screen. I turned it off and on a couple of times, and finally it booted up. I left it plugged in for awhile, and I just took it out at work to use a bit and everything seems perfectly fine. I wonder if there are some firmware issues with the power management or something. I was all set to put in a return with Google, but it appears to be okay. I'll keep a close eye on it for the next couple of days (I've only had it for a week).

After leaving mine off and charging at work to 100% it seems to be working fine. I used it all last night with no issues. I haven't tried wiggling around the usb cable yet in the port to see if that caused any issues.
Firmware issues sounds about right, some sort of low battery safety feature or something? Who knows. I'll update this thread if I continue to experience problems. I'm already past my ability to return to Google so I'm in no rush to warranty to Asus and lose a development tablet.

Problems with Battery indicator, phone doesn't wake, doesn't hold charge.

My HD7 was having all the problems above, and my charger broke awhile back I've been using a different brand. Until today I went and bought a micro usb charger for a Motorolla V9 and my phone is almost acting normal again. Charge lasts a whole lot longer, my battery indicator doesn't show the phone charging after taking it off the charger and the wake worked at first but just came across a couple times where the screen stayed dim. But I hope eventually that will go away after few times fully charging it.
Hopefully this helps!
My wifi started working again too.
*After my phone was working ok again I tried using the different brand charger again just to see what would happen, and it started acting up right away.

[Q] Damaged battery or damaged charging port?

This problem started like 3 weeks ago. I locked my phone and left to do some stuff, and when I came back and unlocked it, the phone thought it was being charged. I plugged it to the charger and unplugged it to see if the problem would stop. It didn't. I plugged it in again and left it there for a few minutes, and when I checked, it was discharging. I pulled out the battery and put it back in after a few minutes and the phone turned on by itself. It is worth mentioning that I'm running Carbon 4.4 from NovaFusion, and you may already know that when the phone is plugged to the charger, it reboots if you power it off. When it turned on, it still thought it was being charged. It discharged after a few minutes, and I left it plugged in to charge while off... And when it turned it back on, the problem stopped. After that, sometimes when I plug it to the charger, it won't detect it, I have to reboot the phone for it to start charging.
A few days ago I turned it off with 85% battery left, and when it turned it back on it showed 0%... And now my phone shuts down without warning randomly. It also freezes and reboots when I plug it to the charger sometimes. I've tried changing the ROM, (to golden-guy's Omni and stock), but those problems persist.
That's why I ask, is it a bad battery o a damaged charging port? Thanks in advance.
Forgot to add, sometimes when it freezes and reboots, it freezes on bootanimation and restarts itself again...
Sounds like a bad battery to me, but wait and see what others will say. It may as well be a faulty usb charging port. If it just had random reboots, I could swear that it's the battery, but with the other stuff you said it seems like something inside the port has gone wrong and thinks it's charging when it's not and the opposite. Sorry, but can't help much as I've never had this exact problem (I've had a similar one) so I'm only guessing right now!

I forgot to say that it freezes on bootanimation and restarts. Does that bring any clue?

That's normal when the phone has no battery left (or thinks it doesnt't). There just isn't enough power to boot the phone up, but it knows that there's some little power left so it continues to try booting unsuccesfully, resulting in a bootloop If you leave it to reboot for a few mins it might shutdown permanently. That means the battery has absolutely no power left (or it could think it doesn't, when it has, if it's damaged like yours).
S3 mini charging when unplugged
I bought a phone off ebay and was having the same problem. Random usb driver errors with pc and unable to connect with terminal, Startup loops because phone thinks its on charge etc..
Tried everything to sort it out and failed. Just after I was about to give up and bin the phone, I tried to slightly pry the little plate on the USB port upwards with something non conductive. Ding dong I heard to unplug sound animation and the charging icon disappeared
Had no problem since.

0% battery after crashes

So I've had this phone for about a year now, the moment I got it I unlocked the bootloader, rooted it and flashed cyanfox (cm11 fork) onto it.
It's been serving me great ever since, no problems whatsoever with it.
But as of a few days back I found it with a black screen, unresponsive. I connected the charger and it light up the green led solid, tries to boot but can't get past the boot loader message
This continues in an almost endless loop until getting to a 'battery 1%' screen with it showing the battery. After that I'm able to boot it up without problem
I first thought that was the end of it.. I finally got it too boot all seemed fine, battery showed 3% at start up bit voltage was suggesting it was 100%. It flashed to 100% later.
Good, no problem until then. But when leaving it over night to charge and disconnecting it from the charger this morning it turned off again. And now it's back in the bootloop when on charger :crying:
also important to mention is that when it crashes and gets into the bootloop on charger(0% battery and all) it was at 50-100% before the crash.
If anyone has any ideas what might be the cause I'd be very thankful
Main problem(s):
-random crashes instantly rendering battery % as 0 while there is still charge
-getting atrix hd to turn on at <1% battery
Some maybe useful information:
-it does say 'battery OK' in fastboot while connected to the wallcharger
-after I get it to boot it will run just fine on battery and charge as normal, but will crash/brick again after some time
-I can get into boot selection screen and fastboot, but only on wallcharger
-I cannot get to fastboot when connected to use, pc doesn't see the phone
-It won't boot past the bootloader('Motorola logo' for you on not unlocked bootloaders) no matter the boot selection(recovery, bp tools etc)
-This is a second hand model already in use by me (the second owner) for over a year now
-no custom kernel, only rom, cyanfox 4.4.2 (cm11 based)
-the few times it got past the bootloop and I was able to boot was on my aftermarket charger (stock charger will make the green led light up but no proof of being able to get past bootloop over time on it)
I've had dead batteries before.. and since It looked good last time I got it on (it won't go on at all now) I was skeptic about the battery being dead. But a quick test of the multimeter gives me <1v :crying:
I know batteries can be drained pretty bad.. but this just seems a bit extreme.. I'll try to get it to boot for a while.
Thanks in advance for any helpful solutions or ideas on the matter
EDIT: Got it on again last night, turned off this morning when pulling out the charger, was at 100%. Checked battery and again read around 1V.
blaming the battery, ordered a new one just in case, should be here in a month or so. Still open for suggestions on the matter

Did you fix it somehow in the end?
My Atrix HD freezes after several minutes(sometimes even on wall charger). Bought new battery, tried to reset everything: usb storage, cash, system, factory reset. Went back to ROM I was using before(stable) but didn't help.

It ended up being the battery, all problems were gone after I changed the battery.
Which in the end wasn't so bad because I'd been wanting to upgrade my eb20 to an eb40
No Idea to what it could be in your case.
Everything working appart from that? no battery hickups or things not working properly?

"0% battery after crashes" that is what was happening in the begging, so I thought it is the battery. I changed it to UB40
but everything's got worse. With the new battery I have crashes even when the battery is almost full.(but not always, for example I can play movie from youtube normally, but when I try to send sms or something else it crashes ).
Hard to believe that there is something with the new battery(I have it just one week+It took a month to ship from ebay).
I tried to flash another ROM, but still have freezes.
Last thing sometimes battery charges normally but then suddenly jumps to ~100%. Now I try to flash Stock ROM, but eventually soft bricked the phone. (+had "battery low" in fastboot, while charging animation was saying 100%)
Where did you buy EB40?

It turned out that EB40 battery was bad, after replacing it with another one everything work
