nexus 6 unlock codes for ADB - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Accidently lock phone can only get into bootloader
status 2 locked
can't get phone to start up
need unlock string to run ADB

You cannot use adb in bootloader. If you're on 5.1 - you're screwed.

If he can get into bootloader mode and OEM unlock is enabled, can't he unlock the bootloader?

fastboot oem unlock
If that results in an error you are boned and need to return the phone.

How does this happen? That someone accidentally relocks their phone? I don't get it.

If it says bootloader unlock allowed: no, then fastboot is missing from your phone which is necessary to unlock the bootloader. So yes, you cannot do that if that's the case.

Yes it says bootloader unlock allowed: no, then there is not way to change the status of bootloader for yes.[emoji22]

Fastboot is always there... Even on carrier locked devices you can even flash a custom kernel if you want but it just won't boot you can also install a ROM for locked bootloader

Seriously?? Then might be we can find a solution somehow using custom kernels? But I have tried for hours I could never get into FASTBOOT mode. It went into FLASHTOOL(green light) mode but never into FASTBOOT mode. I inferred, FASTBOOT is missing from the device. I think it is missing.

Safe Way To Unlock Bootloader?

Is there already a safe way to unlock the bootloader. I may get my N6 today or tomorrow and would like to do it before I put too much on it.

Exact same way you unlock any Nexus device, fastboot oem unlock

Right. There is the new setting in Android 5.0, where you have to enable the OEM unlock setting in developer options. Then fastboot oem unlock is your friend.

don't forget to go into Developer options and enable OEM unlock in there first.

Thanks. That's why I asked to make sure something didn't change. You're all great!

[Q] Locking & Unlocking Moto X 2013

Hey Folks,
I was curious to know if you have unlocked your bootloader, and then locked it again via fastboot oem lock command, if you wanted to unlock the bootloader maybe in the distant future again, would you need to use the same unlock key that was given to you by moto?
Thanks!

Yes the one you got in your mail.
Take care not to lose it.
I am not sure if they give it again

I've unlocked my bootloader but have never once considered relocking it. Why would you lock it after unlocking it in the first place? I can't think of a single benefit.

I've seen some people claim they want to be as "close to stock as possible" when selling their phone. Unfortunately it doesn't really make a difference.
There are 3 states for the 2013 Moto X bootloader:
LOCKED Status:0
Unlocked Status:3
Locked Status:2
note: Status 2 is also known as relocked.
As users we can toggle it to either Status 2 or Status 3, but we can never set it back to Status 0. On Status 2 or 3, you'll get the Bootloader Unlocked warning message at reboot (where replacing the LOGO.BIN with custom one will hide the message).

I didn't actually. I just tried right now but got the following message.
(bootloader) FAIL: Please run fastboot oem lock begin first!
The reason I wanted to re-lock it was for purposes of my phone getting stolen. I'm assuming if it was relocked, the person wouldn't get the joy of installing a custom recovery.
Yeah kind of silly. In any case, couldn't get it to lock.

There is a process to re-lock which involves flashing the stock rom first, etc. and it does wipe the phone.
So if you re-lock, you'll also lose root. (at least until you unlock, flash custom recovery and root).

Yeah. I think I realized that I would need to wipe my phone again to re-lock it. I turned it back to stock so I can get the OTA which should hopefully come out soon.
I guess once they allow us to download stock 5.0.2, I'll do a re-lock then.
Thanks though for the info.

Can I relock my bootloader?

Hey, so my Moto G got an unlocked bootloader, but I'm selling it to get the Moto G 2015 (or any phone good as it). Is there a way to relock the bootloader, so I can handle it to the new owner good as stock?
In terminal type 'fastboot oem lock'. It's relocked then, not locked, that means the warranty is still gone but the functionality is the same as from a locked bootloader.

Will try it later, thanks! If the new owner wants to unlock it, he just should do the normal unlocking procedure?

Nope cant get to it, and my Sprint connection wont work. Out of Service Area Mobile Network is unavailable. If you know a way to get to it that would be great.:good:
I also have a v40 with the bootloader unlocked (can enable USB debugging in Developer tools), but whenever I try to boot to fastboot mode (either from recovery or adb) it just boots back to normal Android OS.
Were you ever able to figure this out?

The process to unlock your bootloader is a bit more "involved" than just simply flipping a switch..

I've been on Android for 10 years, originally with the Galaxy S1 and many devices across multiple manufacturers.. The ability to "Enable OEM Unlock" at all has been a key indicator of whether the bootloder was unlocked. This was true for all of my devices, up to my LG v30 that I continue use for my daily driver.
The v40 was the first device that allowed me to enable OEM Unlock without the bootloader being unlocked, which is why I was confused.
Thanks for the reply.
I'm having the AT&T version (LM-V405UA), can I unlock its bootloader? I can't seem to be able to boot into fastboot mode though.. Weird.

Almost every Android I've had allowed me to enable OEM unlock....since for the most part it needs to be ticked on so that you can unlock it...

Right. That was my point as well.
https://en.droidwiki.org/wiki/OEM-Unlock
Enabling OEM Unlock itself does not unlock the bootloader, but you can not unlock the bootloader unless it is unlocked.
This is the first device I've used that allowed me to enable OEM Unlock, but DID NOT allow me to unlock the bootloder. For other devices that had a locked bootloader, the first step of enabling OEM Unlock wasn't even an option, it was either missing altogether, or it was greyed out and unchangeable. That was my confusion.

With the OG LG Stylo the boost variant was the only one that couldn't be unlocked but OEM unlock was tickable we managed to root it but couldn't use TWRP that was available for the other 2 carrier variants....
