[Q] LG optimus Black (White) upgrade to Gingerbread

I have LG Optimus Black P970 (white), it comes with Froyo 2.2, with Clock Recovery 5 (Factory Setting). is rooting is required for upgrading to gingerbread. actually this phones has no proxy option so that why i didnt connect it with my wireless broadband, plz help what i do for upgrading.

[Q] How to Root LG P970G running 2.3.4

Just got a new LG phone, previously I owned an LG Optimus X2 (P999) but it ain't supported by my new telecommunications provider as they use different HSPA network.
In any event. I want to Root my LG Optimus BLACK (P970G) from Koodo Mobile.
Model: LG-P970g
OS: 2.3.4
Baseband: XMM6160
Kernel: 2.6.35
Build: GRJ22
Software: LG-P970g-V20j
I tried OCR in Auto mode and Gingerbreak, but no luck. Phone still ain't rooted and on Auto it will get to step #7 and just freeze for hours on. Any suggestions how to root this phone + put on CWM

try CWM injection method? althogh it didnt work for me... or use snegoviks SFT rooted binnaries

I already see deoedex thread as SimonTS pointed.
Since I don't have CWM, also I want to just pure deodexed ROM without any other addition or removing apps, I'll ask same question here.
In this case, has anybody use Universal Deodexer for deodex your 4X HD?
In the original thread, the OP said it's applicable for all android devices.
I want to make sure it's working for 4X, because I never deodex a ROM before
