Ok, this is frustrating. I can't seem to get VoLTE working. Clean flashed, and in the hidden menu there's this View attachment 3217747. I didn't ever set it to ON, so I don't know why the OFF option is there. Whenever I make a call, the LTE icon goes away, and no internet.
Not sure if this will help as I don't know what steps you have already taken, but have you gone through these steps first?

No, no app. Maybe you should try enabling on stock and then flashing back to Euphoria. Maybe that will help.

Before I would get the setting and it would be enabled but I coudn't do simultaneous voice/data. I flashed stock but now i get server error try again later each time. weird.
I'm completely stock verizon nexus 6 (recevied mine yesterday in the mail), but I was having same frustration you describe. Could not use hotspot and browse internet while in a voice call. And it was always in 3g.
I don't know if this will help but here is what I did.
first I did the hidden menu... *#*#4636#*#*
tapped the volte provision option and then I forced a power down.
After powering up I confirmed that the Enhanced 4G LTE was enabled in settings.
I went back into the hidden menu and confirmed that volte provision was turned on. It was because it now showed the "Turn OFF volte" option instead of "Turn On".
I retried using internet/data while in a voice call and the phone still would not allow data while in the call. I could only get 3g in hotspot and voice calls would still interrupt data.
I then learned that I had to enable HD or whatever the new service is called on my Verizon account. They said in the webpage instructions that I may have to reboot and check for system updates. And to wait about 15 minutes for it to take affect.
I rebooted, forced a check for new system updates (there were none), and then I tried retesting by turning on hotspot (still was just 3g) and trying to place a call while using hotspot and browsing from my laptop. As soon as the voice call was made I could no longer browse the internet using hotspot... basically same as it always had been. I was frustrated to the point of seriously considering returning the phone to verizon.
Then I went back into the hidden menu and changed the radio option to "USA" (the option in upper right corner of that hidden menu.) I don't know what it was set to previously but I never leave the country so USA is good enough for me.
I rebooted again and to my pleasant surprise, it showed nearly full bars in LTE and hotspot/internet worked great all while in a voice call.
*Solution? I'm not sure if it was just my repeated reboots that did it, or if it was that last radio USA option I selected, or if it just took 15 minutes or so for Verizon to update my account to enable the HD (or whatever it is called).
Again, I'm completely stock vanilla on Verizon. But my frustration sounded very much like yours so maybe this will help you situation. Good luck

This worked for a few people and it was confirmed having the same issue ur having.
People keep bring up these steps are useless but like i said i have people confirmed this works over the other method.
Hope it helps
I followed all of the steps in the tutorials with no success. I have MultiRom installed along with ElementalX as my kernel as it supports MultiRom. I installed Scott's 5.1 stock rooted rom as a secondary rom and made sure the settings were correct for VoLTE. HD Voice was working as well as voice/data over 4G. When I booted back into Euphoria, everything worked great. This is what worked for me, but your mileage may vary. It's crazy that people are having to do so many steps and workarounds to get the features active on the same hardware and essentially the same core software.

I know it seems strange. I'm deployed to Afghanistan right now and brought my phone with me because it's my alarm clock. I since purchased the DishPointerAR app. (I'll be doing a review shortly) I now constantly have my phone with me. I don't like having it in normal mode because my T-Mobile Germany SIM is still in it and I don't want to rack up crazy charges over here. I DO however want to have the ability to use WIFI because we have a connection here that I use. I remember a while back I used a rom that had this built in, but don't remember what it was. Besides, I really enjoy cyanogen. If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it.
Not sure if this is what you want but try droid wall in the market. Blocks data use
for data you can try the app above or just go into your wireless settings and remove your current APN settings. also disable mobile networks and data roaming.
for voice calls, if you want to disable that, you can set all of your contacts to be sent straight to voicemail when they try to call you. i think you can even contact tmo and tell them to disable service temporary until you come back. or you can remove your simcard all together. if you lose the simcard you can always get a replacement without ill effects.
hope those are some alternatives you can try.
@Jamison904
That would be part of it. I also want to disable even the remote possibility of phone calls or anything like that. I keep getting messages that I have voice mails if I disable airplane mode. I've even had the phone actually ring. I don't want the ridiculous international roaming charges I'm sure to incur here.
@NguyenHuu
The SIM card thing would be a reasonable Idea. Although I don't know how my phone would do without a SIM in it. All contacts to VM sort of works, but sometimes people call from #s not in my contacts. I have no idea how T-Mobile Germany would be about putting my account on hold due to me deploying with US Military. (I went straight to the company, I didn't go through the re-seller on base that could maybe work those kinds of things.)

Apndroid is also an app you could use and it includes a widget to put on your home screen to turn off 3g/edge/gprs. It's in Wesgarner's rom which is based off of Cyan's rom or you probably can get it in the market.
download anycut, new shortcut, activity, phone info. From there disable the radio

man, there is actually an app that does exactly what you want. but i have no access to market now and i dont remember the name.
I will have a look for you in some way.
I remember the author posting on these forums.
Be careful, I'd rather deactivate voicemail in the web-control on T-Mobiles homepage. I don't know if things have changed but my old knowledge tells me that sending somebody to voicemail while roaming is more expensive than accepting a call (since the call is directed to you, then forwarded back to voice-mail, which would result in paying active+passive roaming fee)
If you deactivate voice-mail via t-mobile (can't do that via the phone's settings menus), you can just push the "hang up" button when the phone rings. Alternatively remove the SIM-card.
Remove SIM Card?
You don't mention you are using your phone for actual phone calls either (you say it's originally just for alarm), if this is the case, why not remove your SIM card? If you do this, no worries about calls or using mobile data. But, you will still have access to wifi.
Pull out the sim, flip it upside down, shove it back in while still upside down.
Well, I tried APNDroid but that was JUST for Data. The Anycut trick worked prefectly and does exactly what I was looking for. I tried the "turn the SIM around" trick, but I couldn't get the battery back in because the little nub on the batt that goes in the notch of the SIM. It DID work without a SIM at all, but I don't want to lose mine and rist TM Germany charging some stupid amount of money for a new one. Everything's working great now.

Not much imagination there, huh? You can actually TRIM the sim card or the battery to make it fit. The chip is ENTIRELY under the gold contact pads, so any plastic beyond the gold pads can be safely trimmed.
There is actually a free, dedicated app for this, it was also mentioned on the previous page (as an edit note though).
The app is called "Airplane Mode Wi-Fi Tool". It lets you connect to Wi-fi whilst having airplane mode activated.

You can also just type in to your dialer *#*#4636#*#* to get there.
I've recently installed the Pure Nexus rom on the Nexus 6. Now I go to where it says preferred connection for call and i highlight "Wifi Preferred" instead of the cellular network.
Now when i'm connected to Wi-Fi i've been told it should say Wi-Fi Calling above the phone call. I get nothing. Unfortunately I don't know what it's using because I have both cell service and wifi where I am. The problem is that this is my girlfriends phone and when she goes to her parents for days at a time she has no cell service and can only use Wi-Fi.
Is there anything I specifically need to setup? And i'm going to assume the stock Messenger app should work with Wi-Fi fine as well?
I just want to be prepared for when she goes. Thank you
you need to be on t-mobile's network i believe to make wi-fi calls
I am a T-Mobile customer, but the point of Wi-Fi calling is to be able to make calls when you don't have any cell service. Works fine on the LG G3.... for some reason it isn't working here. I've tried to force no encryption on the boot image, i've also tried the latest radio from the Android M preview. None seem to work. There has got to be something I am missing. I suppose I could put the phone back to stock but i'd rather not.

But if the OP has a supporting kernel and the APN correct, it should be all good.
Hey all, this all started a few days ago, I had gotten into the Android beta so I could get Nougat. It was running fine for a few days, maybe a week. Then after I rebooted the phone for something, it wasn't finding my cell network. I decided now was as good a time as any to root it and see what ROMs were out there, it had been a few years and I had never rooted my Nexus 6.
I installed Pure Nexus and it was all good for a day or so, then my phone kept telling me it wasn't rooted. Not sure how that happens, but whatever, I decided to go through the steps again and root it and make sure it was all good. Ever since then it has unable to find my cell network. It sticks on the initial search for the network when I boot up my phone. I'm on T-Mobile with a Nexus 6.
In Cellular network settings it can't seem to decide if it's supposed to use GSM or CDMA, keep jumping back and forth. As such "Access Point Names" disappears then reappears. Either way, it's blank. I've even manually added an APN according to T-Mobile's website, but it disappeared once it switched back to CDMA and back.
I've taken the SIM card out, put it back in, no luck. I've wiped, I've rolled back to my nandroid backup, I even used Nexus Root Toolkit to flash stock and unroot, still not finding my cell service. Any suggestions/thoughts?

If you have access to another SIM card I would try that. If you acquire a signal with another SIM card the one you have is bad. You could even try removing and reinstalling your current SIM card to see if that helps.
Flash factory images with out a sim and do a complete boot. I had issues coming to T-Mobile from Sprint on my n6. After first boot power down and insert sim, then boot. It should auto detect the APN settings.

If that still doesn't work, you could try flashing a different radio image from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/development/fxz-nexus-6-recovery-flashable-fastboot-t3066052

Thanks everyone. I tried all of the suggestions, the first flashing without a sim, didn't work. I just wrapped up trying a new radio image, no luck there either.
Thinking it's probably just hardware, so bummed. Any other thoughts?
Thanks for checking in 31ken31.
Have ya tried and other known working sim cards on att or something to see if it finds that

Just updating this in the event someone is routed to it through Google in the future. After flashing, trying to new sims, etc. it was pretty much guaranteed to be a hardware issue. The sim card reader is just not reading the sim cards. I upgraded to an LG V20 and am in love! Thanks for everyone who tried to help.
I found a Caller/carrier menu code (not sure of real name). I was doing some reading and stumbled across a code that when you type it in your phone keypad as if you're making a phone call it lets you select a different phone carrier and it says something about sales code. I'm with Eastlink Mobility Canada so my code is currently set at (ESK) by the way its an eastern canada cable/Internet/mobile phone provider. The code I enter in my keypad is dialed just like your placing a call. It is exactly this... *#272*356631090050396# now I don't know if this works on all phones in all regions and so on and so forth but I am on the Qualcomm Snapdragon model and running Android 9.0 the latest update. I'm curious as to what this code does exactly and what changing the carrier settings to another carrier might do for me such as unlock Wi-Fi calling or some other cool features that are being held back from my mobile provider. Could anyone shed some light on what changing these menu options could possibly do for me, and do you know if I do decide to Tinker with it, will I be able to use the same code again, and turn back my carrier to its original (ESK). Any help would be great and I apologize if this is the incorrect form for this type of thing but it is a question-and-answer situation so I thought I would put it in this section.
Thanks & cheers!

if you change ure CSC to an other it will reset your phone and should install that said carrier's bloat. technically if you set it to XAC(unbranded) it should not install any carrier bloat. while some carriers offer volte and wificalling, i am not sure if these features will still be there. recent updates seem to point that on xac, volte should stick but wificalling might not be there.

Thanks for the response. That was actually what I was hoping for. It seems most carriers here have Wi-Fi calling and when I go through my system app list it even shows an application called Wi-Fi calling. The only thing is it's not functional or usable or even accessible on my phone right now. I'm hoping somebody has tried it and might be able to tell me more but thanks for letting me know what you knew about it. Have a great night my friend. I'm off to bed

should be in the phone app in the 3 dot menu ootions.
but east link just might not have it. call them or check in their site.
Thanks for the update, looks like I'm out of luck for now. Here's an image of what I see after I hit settings....
So it seems as if I'm out of luck for now. Wi-Fi calling would definitely be handy especially for overseas calling or extreme long distance. The only loss I have at the moment as if I'm calling outside my nation. Wi-Fi calling you would also have to be at home where as using data to make the call would serve the same purpose but it would run out much quicker especially if it's a video call and if it's a long call. I still want Wi-Fi calling now so maybe I will start harassing EastLink and hopefully one person well drive them mad enough to push through the option for me haha. Thanks for letting me know where to check though, have a great day bud.
I tried flashing the xac firmware which is region free but it quickly defaults back to esk on its own the first time I fire up the phone. Esk is EastLink. There must be something that tells it to reset to the current company that the SIM card is from I'm guessing. Thanks for the idea but I tried it and it failed miserably. If you know how to make it stick I'd love to know how you do it.
Try this for WiFi access
Install Activity Launcher. Search for "call" (no s), select Settings, select "com.android.settings.Settings#WifFCallingSettingsActivity", create and save the shortcut to your home screen. The shortcut should open to Wi-Fi Calling menu where you can toggle it on and off.
Hey team., I was wondering if anyone in upstate NY, or anywhere in the NE of the US has T-Mobile and has found the service....lacking. I would prefer to keep the phone, but last night my wife called 4 times and even tho the phone was idly sitting here it never rang and she confirmed, loudly, that the calls went straight to voicemail.
I am wondering if there are any APN settings I need to change to get this thing to work better and more consistently. As in keep the phone registered to the mobile network, perhaps push a new registration every X minutes instead of allowing a timeout.
Does this happen with other phones in your area?

which ROM? I have chinese version phone but i installed xiaomi.eu rom. i use tello which uses t-mobile too. i dont have any issues though
I had a strange issue with the wlan calls "make calls using wlan " option in the sim card settings.
When I had it enabled, at home connected to my local wifi, sometimes i could not receive/make calls even tough the network reception was solid.
Once I deactivated the option i haven't had any issues.
Take care !
i haven't had any success unlocking or swapping out from the chinese rom. you'd think being a sr voip engineer it would be a breeze, but apparently i'm a bit of an idiot.

last time i unlocked anything was on a nexus 7.....168 hours, aint nobody got time for that.
If you activated wifi calling in a settings. Disable it.
I also hope you activated VoLTE !
Im using Chinese variant on tmobile (NJ) is working flawlessly but make sure your VoLTE is on (i hope u know how to activated) and your wifi calling is off (this option when is ON brings some strange things lmao)
i had wifi on with my huawei mate 20 pro 8/256, it wouldn't allow calls in. i think i turned on volte, i'll check again tho. thanks!

it didn't happen on at&t with my mate 20 pro, but as soon as i changed to tmo it started. now again with this 11ultra.
pretty sure this phone is just getting the base config for the apn since there's no profile for Xiaomi on tmo's device management servers, at least here in the US. i just figured i was missing something in there and would be able to edit the appropriate field
