In /system/etc

I solved the problem myself
in etc
file sysmon.cfg
I edited there lighting values
So that the temperature does not affect the intensity of light
And it works perfectly
now when the device heats up the screen remains bright
There are entries starting from 51 up to 255
I changed most of them to 255
I lower and gradually decrease

I'm also interested in this - minimum brightness is simply too bright in complete darkness.
Voodoo is the only solution.

Profiles app in market can get it down to 7%

Screen filter is working pretty well, and you can reduce brightness to complete dark if you want (except the status bar). One annoying bug is that toast messages are not shown, only after disabling it ...
I am not sure if it has an effect onthe battery usage, but i guess yes if i am right about how amoledworks ...

Tip: brightness level (from CurveFish) via Android market goes to 0% , although not completely dark but works fine.
Brightness level does indeed allow you to select 0% but when I do that, the brightness setting in the application Extended Controls" will go from 2% to 4%
so "Extended Controls" allows you to select 2% as a minimum but this would actually be -2% in "Brightness level".
I could also not see any noticable difference between these two.
Does screen filter actually reduce the brightness or does it rather change the LUT?
It looks like it's just changing the color values to a 'more black' level than reducing the actual light-output.

min brightness in build.prop

hi there.
l have noticed a min brightness parameter in the build.prop file which is set to 15. will Changing it to 0 make the screen go black at min level?
rooted 404
There are many such apps like screen filter to do so
these apps seem to interfere in lot of other phone operations. cuz I have read a lot about screen filter issues... wat does this parameter in build prop do

Its better to use build.prop if it works, why use an app to change it, it will run in background and drain battery
@OP, it may be dangerous to change it to "0" as if it turns to min brightness you may not be able to change it again due to invisibility.
try it when you have to flash another rom.

Of Course YES....If you would set the brightness to lower level in settings>display>brightness.

I have tried it..
changed the default from 15 to 0..
earlier i was on min brightness..( slider full left) > screen not black
after changing the build.prop value .> i checked settings in display and the slider can be moved further to the left but does not have any effect on the screen... the brightness on screen stays the same...

[Q] Lowering Brightness

So I have a rooted ATT atrix.
The screen brightness is awesome for some things but way too bright for others.
My question: Is there some way to lower the brightness settings even further than the lowest stock brightness?
I know that on certain custom roms you can go into the sys files using ES Explorer and change values there, but I'm not an expert in any sense,
I would like to keep the automatic brightness adjustment intact, just lower the range of brightness
If I navigate to /sys/class/backlight/lcd-backlight/ then I can edit the file "brightness" to value of 1 which lowers the brightness significantly. The default minimum value seems to be 21.
When I do edit this value, then allow the screen to auto adjust brightness, the value goes back to 21.
I don't know where to set the range for the auto brightness.
I think lowering the range will save my eyes at night and also potentially save some serious battery

I guess using this app will get what I want done. it'll just take some personal calibration

Strange display contrast delay

Sorry for my english..
when I switch from an app with black screen (notification bar xda app etc etc) to a bright one.. Like whatsapp I see a strange thing... There is less contrast for 0.5sec then contrast is perfect and all is normal...
I don't know if you understand what I mean...
Is this normal? Or is a fault display?
Happens with stock and cyano... Full brightness and at lowest brightness...
thx for the replay

Thermal throttling is normally given as the answer to this.
Thanks for the fast replay... Then I must change my device? Or it'snormal

Its normal, but there are ways to change the way it does it, I am not an expert but if you root you can start to cange values. Search for thermal throttling values and you will hit a good thread about.
Yes I have root.. But I didn't understand.. For thermal throttle you mean cpu? Or even the display?
cause I don't have problem with multitask or other.. Only this strange problem that image quality is not perfect when switching to dark image to bright one.. But for less then a second.. But is frustrating and strange

ok i found some 3d about termal throttle and is not my problem.. i tried different mod but nothig...
i uploaded a video to show my problem ...
see the contrast change?
is not brightness...it's contrast that changes...
Yes, a have this effect too. I`ve changed brightness values at system/etc/sysmon.cfg, to a maximum values, after that screen doesn`t changing brightness when device is more hot, but this effect like in this video, is still exists! This contrast shading are not a termal throttling, this is something else, i don`t know exactly what it is.
i'm not alone then...
with cyanogenmod is so more evident...
tomorrow i'll turn on another one in my shop and see if is all xperia t like this...
anyway if some other has this strange problem, plz post here ^^ (maybe is a software fault)
Maybe a refresh issue?
when i scroll a page on black background with white txt.. the txt becomes greysh... if you scroll slowly remains white... happens to you too?

I don`t think it`s a refresh rate, but maybe i`n wrong.
And, yes, i have the same issues, and the screen is shading and becomes bright again all the time. Especially this happening when i try to open something or to enter at one of the bookmarks of phone menu, and when the phone "thinking", screen is shading, but then it becomes brighter again. I`m reaaly don`t know what it ies, but it`s not because of a thermal, 100%! I already changed the values of a brightness. I`m sure that all Xperia T phones are with the same issues, it`s bacause of a something in soft.
It has nothing to do with gpu.
Here is data sheet for AS3676 - www1.futureelectronics.com/doc/AUSTRIAMICROSYSTEMS/AS3676.pdf
And here is what DLS is from the data sheet -
8.4.9 DLS - Dynamic Luminance Scaling Input
The pin GPIO1/DLS can be used for dynamic backlight scaling input. Dynamic backlight scaling is used to reduce the power of the backlight especially when showing dark picture contents on the display. The control unit to operate DLS is the display processor sending a PWM signal to the AS3676 and in parallel changing the display content to compen- sate for a reduced brightness backlight.
DLS can be turned off in /system/etc/pre_hw_config.sh -
echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/led_1-lcd/use_dls
echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/led_2-lcd/use_dls
Is it save to turn DLS off ?

great find.. any way yesterday i turned on 5 new xperia t in my shop and all do like mine... that is DSL like peetr say..
but the annoying thing is that on cm10 (that all the ui is gray/dark) DSL is too much visible...) now i'll try to disable it.. i'll report if works
EDIT: still the same..
I don't get how to turn DLS off, what value should i change to turn it off ?
Sent from my LT30p using xda app-developers app
you must edit the file in /system/etc/pre_hw_config.sh
with root explorer or similar and change thise line: (0 instead of 1)
echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/led_1-lcd/use_dls
echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/led_2-lcd/use_dls
0 instead of 1 , and what should i set instead of 2 ? 0 too ?
And, is this save ???

Finally, this will have effect or no?
Because maybe we all have this issue.

all xperia t works like i posted in the video (infact i tried 5 new xperia t all the same)
but that mod is not working.. for me is still the same..

this is stock
echo 1 > /sys/class/leds/led_1-lcd/use_dls
echo 1 > /sys/class/leds/led_2-lcd/use_dls
change in to this:
echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/led_1-lcd/use_dls
echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/led_2-lcd/use_dls
but i see no difference..

[Q] How to reduce the light brightness of my TX without filter app?

Hi, I want to reduce the light brightness of my TX lower than that of manual. My rom is rooted LT29i 9.2.A.1.205 4.3.
I tweaked framework-res.apk
framework-res \res\values\integers.xml
<integername="config_screenBrightnessSettingMinimum">1</integer>
<integername="config_screenBrightnessSettingMaximum">245</integer>
<integername="config_screenBrightnessSettingDefault">60</integer>
<integername="config_screenBrightnessDim">1</integer>
But It doesn't seem to work. What can I do? If I need to tweak another system APPs?
The last line is what dims your screen before it turns off automatically. I suggest leaving this one the way it was.
Also, most likely these lines only work for manual brightness, not the automatic one.

Thanks for your answer:good: I just want to know how to reduce the minimum of manual brightness. I tweaked those values, but it didn't seem to work. I didn't change the values of auto brightness, however, The minimun of manual brightness is always brighter than that of auto brightess.
I think the drivers of display brightness are in the kernel
So your changes had no effect
