Yup have done both, it was unlocked before I flashed the factory image, and the option in developer options is checked.

I have same issue trying to downgrade from LMY47D to LRX22C. It fails to downgrade the bootloader.
If you read other forums, it is impossible to downgrade the bootloader.

Just a confirmation from others threads, the 5.1 bootloader is NOT downgradable.
System, kernel and radios are. But bootloader is not. Once you've upgraded to the 5.1 bootloader, you're stuck with it.

I just managed it by extracting the *.img from the enclosed zip and running individual commands (ignoring bootloader) rather than using the flash-all script:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
etc
etc
Seems to have worked ok.

As far as I know you cant downgrade the bootloader... You can go back to as far as 5.0 but without downgrading the bootloader, which means no OTA until a new factory image is released.

OTA applies just fine. I downgraded everything except boot loader and side loaded OTA.

When you run the ruu, you must re-lock your bootloader. Have you locked your bootloader?

i think you maybe misspoke, what happened exactly? can you show pictures?
error 140 bootloader version error is simple, it means that the main version is newer than the one you are trying to flash. since you flashed ics ruu, you cannot go back to gb ruu. you have to follow the guide here by thecubed

if u can take pics first and show me what your phone is doing before you do anything else that will be better

IIRC, you have to be able to boot the phone to get this method to work?
I'm having a similar problem and I tried the file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529669 to no avail, it doesn't say an error code it just reboots and goes black after HTC boot screen.
I think my problem started when I tried to flash the OTA from androidninjas; he put the ICS hboot on top and I was too excited to read so I d/l and flash the file (was named PH39IMG...) but when I went to boot it turned black. So I d/l and flash the new file, after using HBOOT to clear out the phone etc. Still no luck. And I've tried numerous GB ruu's as well as every ICS one I can find. Brick?
Definitely interested to hear the fix to this.
Before flashing ICS, did you relock your Hboot & were you running GB?
If your screen went dark, but can still get into hboot, you are fine. Just need a recovery. There is an error with the older standard CWM. So you need to install a new version of recovery.

Yes to both and I thought relocking got rid of root? So I was afraid I wouldn't be able to flash a custom rom.

tried the process in the thread related to this ruu and the aru wizard keeps getting stuck on 1/6 sending been there for about 20 mins have s-on and bootloader locked
Do we need to flash the modified firmware with the newest RUU if we flashed it the 5.03 RUU??
I have noticed on the last couple RUU's if your hboot did not match the RUU it would not work correctly.
So if you are not sure if the hboot matches flash the Full Firmware as that is the one that has the hboot included.
These are my observations...could just be a coincidence lol hope this answers both your questions.

You should be fine the RUU has the firmware included.
Might be a stupid question, but would it be bad to flash the new firmware with an older ROM that wasn't built with it?

EDIT:
I ran the RUU, snagged the files from the temp folder, I'll run the wizard from there, not sure if the little window is supposed to be there or not.

Decided to install the RUU tonight, but this aruwizard is in front of the ruu window and I cant hit anything but the aruwizard window.

Do I need to relock my bootloader before running this? This will be my first time trying to restore to stock so I'm a little hesitant. I'm running stock ROM with some xposed modules and busybox installed. Anything special i should know before running? I've read through the thread and nothing stuck out at me as strange except that some people had to flash firmware first. I'm still s-on and this firmware matches my current one so I don't think i will have to flash it first. Any input to make this as easy and less nerve racking is appreciated.
I cant get my pc to recognize my phone when it is in fastboot. I read in another thread that if I update my firmware it will fix the problem. But I can't update firmware since fastboot doesn't work. Im using Windows 8.1, hboot 1.44. Can I get some advice?
How can I flash a .IMG file in my HTC ONE Sprint?
I have downloaded this one:
Sprint_HTC_One_m7wls_5.05.651.2_OTA_only.zip
I have joined the 3 .img files called system1, 2 and 3 with this command:
copy /b system_1.img + system_2.img + system_3.img newsystem.img
I got a .img file of 1.8 GB which I am trying to flash in fastboot, but IT doesn't allow me
what should I do?

Hello!
I'd like to install ViperOne on my HTC ONE (M7).
[ My phone spec and useful info are on the bottom of this post. ]
Is that the way it should be done(?):
- Unlock bootloader to S-OFF (By using HTCDev or Temproot)
- Install Custom Recovery
- Install Custom Rom
I'm not sure which way to unlock bootloader I should use.
If I choose HTCDev I'll loose my warranty and I will not be able to S-ON again, right?
So maybe its better to use "temproot" in this case?
Also I'm not sure if my ADB is that place where I put other files? Take look at last screenshot!
Sorry for a lame questions, but I really can't figure it out by myself!
Thank you Guys! I'm really appreciate your feedback!

No matter which way you unlock your bootloader, if you can not remove the "Tampered" or make it "Locked" instead of "Relocked" you will void your waranty. The only way to accomplish both of those feats is to obtain S-OFF so you can reset it properly. You don't need S-OFF to flash ViperOne, you need an unlocked bootloader, custom recovery, root and the current/latest firmware. If you are S-ON, you would need to flash the latest firmware while the bootloader is "Locked", then you could unlock bootloader, custom recovery, ViperOne.
Unlock bootloader using HTCDev method
Flash custom recovery, recommend TWRP (check ViperOne thread for which one)
Obtain S-OFF
Flash latest firmware for your version
Make a nandroid backup
Flash ViperOne
As far as ADB goes, it looks like you are missing fastboot.exe. I would use the Minimal ADB & Fastboot Tool and place my files in that folder.

Make a nandroid backup - Is that necessary? I can wipe all the data, actually I don't need it, that's not a big deal for me! The reason you want a nandroid backup of your system, if something goes wrong down the road having the backup makes recovery easier. Just remember, this is software and it can fail leaving you stuck in a boot loop the nandroid saved to your computer can come to your rescue.
Hi there this is my first post so excuse me if i'm unclear about stuff. if you need any info just gimme a shout and i can find it for you!
I have an M7 on O2 (UK), I've had it pretty much since it release in 2013.
Upon getting the phone i immediately rooted whilst on Android Version 4.4.3, it's the Sense Version too (i don't know if that's relevant or not).
Anyway it's been a while since this, and i've lost a lot of the knowledge i had on Android & Rooting etc.
I'm looking to un-root my phone to get the OTA Updates which have been alerting my (very annoying) since 2013!
Last week i began watching tutorials and reading up, a few days in and i gave it my first attempt..
I first re-locked my Bootloader successfully and then tried using the RUU Software but was unlucky with numerous versions (i'm still unsure about how to find the RIGHT one). After hours & hours i was at and end and couldnt seem to find the right one for my phone and i gave up.
Since "re-locking" my Bootloader i've been facing an issue where every time i power up or restart my phone it boots in the Bootloader's Fastboot mode, from here i have to navigate to 'reboot'... the phone then restarts and this time round i get my usual home screen.
I'm unsure as to what direction to go now as i'm scared i will brick my phone, i guess i have 2 options;
A. Continue to try and return to stock and then decide if i wish to re-root (probably not)
B. Unlock the Bootloader once again (only this will wipe my phone, and i can't find the original stock rom thus leading to a brick i expect?)
Hope someone can help, any questions please do not hesitate to ask!

First of all, i have a bootloader locked XT1254 with SU4TL49 firmware. I use Nova Launcher and was just looking through Nova Shortcuts hoping to make a GSM/UMTS switch on my home screen. I came across BandMode under Settings, and accidentally clicked USA Band. After that my SIM couldnt find any network, i tried everything: Clicked USA Band, Cellular, changed network mode to Global and back to LTE / GSM / UMTS. I even tried everything in the hidden Phone Menu (RadioInfo). After nothing worked i tried Factory reset twice, but still the same.
The phone detects the SIM and shows the SIM contacts too, but cant find any network operators. I know the last thing to try is updating firmware to Marshmallow, but that would also close the window for bootloader unlock if i later need to repair the firmware through custom recovery.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Screenshots on how to kill the Network and also get to hidden Phone Menu are attached.

So, go ahead and unlock your bootloader right now. What are you waiting for? You still have Wi-Fi, right?
By the way, Sunshine works with Marshmallow now -- just not the most recent Marshmallow (MCG24.251-5-5, earlier this week). You can re-flash Su4TL-49 firmware or the first Marshmallow image, MCG24.251-5.

Besides unlocking your bootloader, the first thing you can do is try to re-flash your Lolllipop radio:

Before your reply here i got to the radio thread and tried flashing SU4TL49 radio. BUT what i did was flash all 3 files (radio, GPT, bootloader) as instructed in that thread. Next thing i know my baseband is Unknown and no IMEI is being shown now..... The problems seem to be stacking up.
Was some file not compatible? Do i flash any files from SU4TL44 zip now?
EDIT: FINALLY!! After flashing GPT and Bootloader of SU4TL49 i flashed radio from SU4TL44 and the command fastboot oem config fsg-id ""
Everything back to normal now! :good: :highfive:  :victory:
Thanks to your reply on the other thread about 2G not working i found out about radio flashing possibility otherwise i was thinking nothing is possible on a locked bootloader :highfive:
