[Q][LMY47O] How do i enable Ambient Display on Official Indian OTA? - Android One (First-Generation) Cross-Device Genera

As the official update has arrived, I was Wondering how can I enable Ambient Display on this ROM 5.1 like Nexus 6?
It's really a cool feature and it will be a great addition to this ROM.
Thanks in Advance

I've seen a xposed module to enable that, but since xposed doesn't work on 5.1 yet, you'll have to wait. But even with it enabled pick up to display mode will not work. And because Android One devices doesn't have a AMOLED display, there will be a battery drain. So I don't see a up side with this.

[Q] Touchless Control within Cyanogenmod?

I just ordered my Moto X Dev Edition during the Cyber Monday madness sale. I can honestly say that this will be the only phone I could enjoy on stock firmware, but I was wanting to use Cyanogenmod on it just because it features WAY more convenient toggles and controls. I would hate to miss out on Active Display and Touchless Controls. My question is: has anyone tried going into the Play Store and instaling the Touchless Control apk on a custom ROM? Does it work? I know it's entirely based on it's "always listening" chip, and not software, but I'm worried Motorola might be restricting that feature to stock firmware.

Cyanogenmod has some sound issues, specifically the head phone jack does not work, dialer only works as a speaker phone. The stock ROM with xposed frameworks functions better than any cm 10.2 or 11 or any custom ROM. You get all the customization available with almost any custom ROM but with all the perks that the stock ROM gives, touch less control and active notifications

People say that, but I've never seen Xposed mods that offer the convenient toggles and status bar brightness slider that CM offers. That, and I can't find anything better than the native theming. Any suggestions?

[q&a] [rom][m7][sep2014] aicp - 6.0 - kk 4.4.4

Q&A for [ROM][M7][SEP2014] AICP - 6.0 - KK 4.4.4
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer. Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
I've had this flashed for some time on my M7_UL because it functions so beautifully.
I love it so much that I've forgiven it for making my phone crash 50% of the time when trying to answer a phone call, and at other random times about once a day. Not sure if the newest 7.0 release has fixed that or not.
One feature I'd suggest is enable some sort of default CPU O/C controls and maybe smartassv2.
EDIT: Didn't mean for this to end up in Q&A

Even though the rom now supports wake gestures, the Wake Gestures xposed module doesn't seems to recognize it. It says the kernel doesn't support it or it's not enabled.

You need to flash a kernel that supports wake gestures. Elemental x for example.
Wake gestures are not support in th Stock M7 kernel.
Elemental x is for sense based roms. Not for aosp. And if this rom doesn't support wake gestures, whats this?

The problem still remains the same. I used Elemental x as an example (mainly because I don't know which kernels support wake gestures for aosp roms.)
But the fact remain weather a Rom support wake gestures or not is irrelevant if the kernel running it doesn't support wake gestures they won't work. These gestures are an after market feature for the m7. Only the m8 supports Wake gestures officially.

Currently I'm using dt2w with the AICP's default kernel... So doesn't it means the kernel supports wake gestures?

Looking at the main thread it would appear that wake gestures are a "work in progress" for the kernel with that Rom. :good:

Hi, is it possible to restore the old s2w and s2s behavior? I would love to update to 7.0 but since the new kernel, I can't wake my device when in deepsleep, or it needs 5 or 6 attempts. Can anyone advice me which kernel I need to flash?
What firmware are you guys using with this ROM for the m7_ul? I've got the ATT version and I want to make try to get rid of some freezing issues I've been having.

Now, can somebody give me the apk of the Google Keyboard. It's not available from Play Store in our country. (Don't know what's the latest version and that's why I didn't googled it)
Tethering Issue
This only affects certain carriers. The below fix worked for me.
Do this from ADB shell:
settings put global tether_dun_required 0
and reboot. Tethering will work once again.

Hi guys,
Just flashed latest nightly of lollipop.
Is the kernel included in the zip best for stability and battery time? Or is there an alternative to be recommended?
A few things I noticed :
Performance settings in ROM control leads to an empty screen that allows searching for all control panel items, is that intentional? I expected kernel tweaker?
Can the x pixel battery bar line be added?
Under settings, and screen, I have an advanced settings headline, but nothing below it? http://i.imgur.com/KYJWJP7.png
What is the status of lollipop in terms of mods that are ported? A lot from 4.4.4 is not ported yet, and xposed can't help due to art runtime. I am aware that lollipop is VERY different from kitkat, and I am not nagging about 'when will x and y be here', just a status from HQ about the transition from KK to LP
Does anyone know about customizing the soft keys and enabling logo key? And does the standard kernel support it?
Any way to customize toggles on kitkat?
I got the wrong apn settings from my carrier, but I guess that's their problem (or mine for running an unsupported Android version they probably do not detect correctly)..
Any way to remove carrier text and camera /call shortcuts from lock screen? So far I have found a guy who will mod system ui apk......
All in all lollipop is awesome, and running superb!! :good:
Thanks to all devs for their time and effort :good::good:
Kind Regards

Battery line at the top of the display. On AICP KK edition it can be 1 to 4 px thick.
Toggles and shortcuts, fair enough
Kernel advice / options?
I miss the Xposed framework, and the rom options for customization, but I will be patient, lollipop is very different from kitkat, and the work being put into this by devs is truly amazing!
I have had a few instant reboots, that's all the problems with this rom so far, and that's really very acceptable

I have built the actions that seem important to me as a new implementations of actions for CyanogenMod. Probably all customs ROMs are reusing that work. Look in the CM 12.0 thread for a screen shot of the options that are going to be configurable in CM 12.1.
That said, what actions to you use?

Yes those are implemented. I just like to ask people what they use in case there are other useful gestures I haven't implemented (I honestly never used stock on my phone so I depend on others to give me feedback on what is useful related to stock behaviour....).
Is Moto voice the only thing that doesn't have an alternative?
Moto display?

Ambient Display just wakes the screen when you get a notific. Moto Display actually wakes it every time you pick the phone up,or nudge it, which is super handy to check the time and all. I have been asking if this is possible in CM13 but so far no one has replied.

Moto Display handles notifications differently from Ambient display. See this link:
http://www.androidcentral.com/inside-moto-x-active-display?_ga=1.123258498.820442600.1451317275
I prefer the way Moto Display notifies and then allows a peek at the information. I have not been able to get Ambient Display to behave the same way. I believe that Moto Display also uses the display differently from Ambient Display. Moto Display is supposed to only light the pixels required for the notification to save battery as opposed to energizing the whole display.
I wonder if the Moto Display apk can be sideloaded and installed on CM13? Moto and Moto Actions can be downloaded from the Play store but they do not include Moto Display functionality. Moto Voice can also be downloaded from the Play Store.

Ok thanks for checking.
I just saw on the one plus one page of the same rom that it includes "off-screen" gestures hence my expectation to see similar features on this phone.
As for the B/W display I meant the "approach for display" feature included in CM or Nexus experience rom that mimic somewhat the moto display.
Thanks for checking anyway!

I am sure I can add these features.
I have all of the gestures in place. One problem is that I cannot make them work with torch yet. For example, chop chop can only launch the camera for now. I am investigating fixing torch gesture.

I don't have a lot of knowledge in this matter but I believe there is an issue around the permission cause it says "Calling a method in the system process without a qualified use" and on my logcat with this feature working fine I don't have this line and the one following just after.

moto display installed on NX ROM

there's a flashable zip for moto display its for stock moto x 2015 but i flashed the zip on my moto x 2014 running nx rom, it seems it can work but for some reason the ambient display turns on when i turn on moto display....is there any way to fix this i guess it needs a little workaround maybe ?
but 'moto' and 'moto actions' needs to be installed as well from playstore
i've attached the flashable zip
for the IR sensors to work with moto display extract the arm.rar and paste those to files into system/lib and give root permission and reboot
i did not create this zip i found it on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63574299&postcount=2

yes it will work no doubt but i guess it needs a little workaround i fisrt tried on NX ROM....flashed the zip via and then you need to go to playstore and install moto and moto actions as well to see moto display and now i've flashed it on RR ROM, it gets installed the only thing for both of the rom is that when moto display is enabled ambient display turns on as well and that's the problem...if there was a way to disable ambient display or delete it...then i guess moto display would had triggered
it needs a little workaround to be fully functional like i said
I didn't knew moto gesture was needed. I can install it and I see the two : "motorola gesture" and "moto screen" in the home menu of the Moto app
But when i wave my hand over the device it activate the screen with the ambient display design (just the clock and notification like in the notification center (rectangular))
I don't know if i'm missing something but i'd like to help you if I can cause i miss this feature from the stock rom
I don't understand if you have both Ambient display AND Moto Display (I think it would be weird )
Oh and by the way sorry is the traduction & the English aren't perfect, i'm french and my device is in french too ..

oh you have to enable root explorer swipe from left to right in your es file explorer scroll down and enable root explorer it will then ask you for permission grant it and then copy those two lib file in your system/lib and paste there and give root permission
but still it doesn't works even after giving root permission to those two files maybe something is missing or could be due to ambient display

So I just happened to come across this thread, interesting that it seems to work with the stock version of the MotoDisplay APK... (it hasn't been modified or anything)
Does the NX Rom have a custom APK to determine if the proximity sensor has been tripped (I know the CM rom's have this)? If so, then it could be that which is triggering the Active Display, and you would just change it to calling the MotoDisplay methods instead...

all the custom roms including NX rom or RR rom has ambient display feature, when moto display enabled the ambient display turns on as well and so ambient display triggers but if i go into settings and disable ambient display it seems that the IR sensors does not work with moto display, the IR sensors are linked to display, i think we are missing something here if we could turn on those IR sensors with a file or lib/IR sensors service libs or if we could link those sensors with moto display then disabling ambeint display may work with moto display when hand waved, also yesterday i tried an app called active notify, enabling ambient display and active notify works when active notify is set as default lockscreen while disabling the ambient display does not works as the IR sensors turns off. So i think that if we can somehow link those IR sensors with moto display then i guess it will get the job done
I was asking myself, did you take a look of other forums like MotoG2 (even if it don't has an Amoled screen, the forum is really active) or MotoX Pure/style/play ? Maybe someone tried to port the Moto display feature on other phones.
