Your best bet is to install a third party Launcher like Nova launcher because you have about 10 different animation options for the home-screen that way. Other than that, I'm not sure you can change the stock Sony animation.

1st, why is the home screen swiping on eclair choppier than donut? (even on a droid)
2nd why is the animation for the menu on most custom roms (cyanogen and superD are 2 examples) choppier than stock?
1. Custom rom built for a currently unsupported device.
2. Modified launcher.apk -- Take the good with the bad.

what do you mean by this?
Launcher.apk is the Home screen app. It's what makes the home screens that hold your icons and widgets plus it controls the app drawer.
The original Launcher.apk is just 3 screens and has limited functionality and no options.
Modified Launchers add home screens, add folder ability to the app drawer and other things. Because this is more functionality, it make the Launcher a larger app and is more for the phone to deal with when it has to access anything Launcher-releated, hence the slight lack of smoothness.
That's how I understand it anyway.

no, I understand what launcher.apk is and what the modified versions do to it, but here's an example, dwangs rom has 5 screens and a smooth menu animation, cyanogen has 5 screens and not so smooth animation. it isn't just the menu either, whenever a window (the contextual windows, not the apps themselves, like the one for adding to the home screen, or powering off) pops up in dwangs, it animates smoothly both ways (on and off screen) its somewhat smooth opening but there is no animation for closing (not just the home screen, this is in most apps)
sorry if that reply sounded a bit hostile, wasn't meant to, but it's difficult to express emotions in text.
I've only ever used CM, but I know you can open the Spare Parts app and speed up/slow down these animations. Don't know if it'll make it "smoother" for you though.
I turn off all the animation and the whole phone is much smoother. What possible use could there be for bouncing menus and zooming windows if it makes the phone lag?

Sup everyone? Is there a way to get the wallpaper to scroll across the different home screens? Is a mod needed? I used a 3rd party launcher (ApexPro) and it doesn't scroll either. All my HD wallpapers are cropped into tiny columns
atm i don't see any mod about this.
However, you can use another launcher like nova if you want this

Hello,
Can someone tell me if it is possible to change the transition animations of our android ROMs with the iPhone/MiUI ones?
In my humble opinion, iPhone/MiUI animations (just animations) are better/smoother than other android animations.
Home Launchers just change animations for homescreen.
I have already tried the anim-mod app.
I don't like existing transition animations packs.
Android_Stock, Bounce, Drop_In__rubiX_, Flip, Fly_In, Fly_In_and_Flip_Mix__ApeX_, Fold and some others..
I have already tried all these packs in my framework-res.apk.
Are there other packs that have animations like MiUI/iPhone?
Thanks in advance...:fingers-crossed:

Anyway to do this WITHOUT Nova Launcher or third party launchers? I know I can change the screen grid size but I do not want to do that either. I tried messing with the DPI sizes in Developer options, but was curious if anyone was able to accomplish this with Samsung's own launcher?
Thanks!

I've tried in the past with my Note 8 and it was a no go. Is there any particular reason you don't want to just use Nova launcher?
Thanks! I have used Nova Launcher for what seems like 10 years. I really wanted to try the stock Samsung everything

Ah I understand. I have tried that successfully on my Note 8 because I ignored the oversized spacing. Then I got tired of not having Google Feed and gave up, went back to nova, haven't went back since.
Edit - I see you don't want to change grid size.
Hi folks,
i really like the wallpaper motion effect, but to use it you have to set the Touchwiz Launcher as default. If you have a theme running or more than the TW launcher you can´t choose the motion effect. so i decided to make a little, litle script to switch the settings from "0" to "1". You have to run it on a rooted device with a script executer like Root browser.(rename the files from txt to sh)
I also modded the wallpapercropper2 (oreo) so you have always the option for motion effect independently if the stock TW launcher is set as default. Just swap it with an file explorer in system/priv-app/wallpapercropper2.
Enjoy it!
Wallpaper rotation
On the stock TW launcher on my Note 8 the wallpaper rotatin works if i cange that line in sytem/etc/floating_feature.xml
Code:
<SEC_FLOATING_FEATURE_LOCKSCREEN_CONFIG_WALLPAPER_STYLE>MOTION,INFINITY,VIDEO,[COLOR="red"]INCONSISTENCY[/COLOR]</SEC_FLOATING_FEATURE_LOCKSCREEN_CONFIG_WALLPAPER_STYLE>
to
Code:
<SEC_FLOATING_FEATURE_LOCKSCREEN_CONFIG_WALLPAPER_STYLE>MOTION,INFINITY,VIDEO,[COLOR="Red"]CONSISTENCY[/COLOR]</SEC_FLOATING_FEATURE_LOCKSCREEN_CONFIG_WALLPAPER_STYLE>
This is just for stock TW launcher!!!
Lekker...

Hi Dev, this is what i was looking for for some time now. Thanks.
However i have enabled this and does not seem to be working on nova launcher.
Any advice? I also can't run the script on my device, am rooted using fx explorer and tried terminal emu. Managed to run the script, however still no effect on nova.

So I assume you mean that no matter what gallery app you use to select your image one will have the scroll option...
Is this the parallax effect that you cant turn on when you apply a wallpaper?
Since were to moving. wallapapers and touchwiz, wth happened to scroll effect on homescreen? Really miss that one.

The wording on your original post gives the implication that this script will make it possible to use the Infinity wallpapers with any launcher. If this only works with Touchwiz, then what exactly is the purpose of it, since the Infinity wallpapers will already be working?

No. Usally to have the motion effect option (not scroll option) you have to set the TW launcher as default launcher. Now you have this option without a default launcher. I also switch between Nova and TW, so i can switch the wallpaper for TW with that option.

Yes, is Parallax. I knew it as Wallpaper Motion effect. I also miss the scroll effect but could not find it til now.

The feature you say is not possible with theme's installed? That might be due to the wallpaper set from the theme itself, cause i do use themes and it works. I use APOD wallpapers usually in high quality and set them manually through the built-in wallpaper changer, motion effect was always possible. Most of the themes come with wallpapers, and that probably might be the culprit.
And yea, i really miss the Wallpaper Scroll effect...it just doesnt make sense how they get rid of features without any sort of negative feedback.
Just came here to correct myself, and thank @and2 for this little gift.
I randomly tried a theme out there, just to find out that Motion Effect completely disappeared from any theme after. I'm really fond to that effect. Thanks again man.
