Change baseband XT1058 to XT1052 - Moto X Q&A

Hi, can i change the modem? I need LTE band 1800... Thanks..

Dude. You PM'd me TWICE and made a thread. Not cool.
so everyone can see... I replied to your PM with the following response...
IF the hardware is not there to support it, flashing the modems from another model wont help you gain support for additional bands.
Sorry.
And we've also seen reports of flashing modem files meant for another phone cause the radios to stop working. So BE CAREFUL!!!!

What SBF?

I have a Milestone with Viaero. A small company in the middle of the US. They have GSM version of the Mileston but I don't know which. Is there a way to tell what SBF file to use? Thanks for the help guys.

The quickest thing is to check the FCCID in the battery compartment:
IHDP56KC1: CDMA (this is the Droid, rather than a milestone)
IHDP56KC2: Dual band 2100/900MHz UMTS, Quad band GSM
IHDP56KC5: Triple band 850/1900/2100MHz UMTS, Quad band GSM
Since you are in the US, it's very likely that you have the KC5 version, and should use the North America/Latin America versions.
Or you can install any version you like, and then update the radio files to the correct ones.
sorry it took so long I just checked and I have the KC2. What would you recommend? Can I get a link on how to flash the radio? Thank you

I'm not sure, but IF it is the milestone, you can try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932196
This is my thread which tells you how to install a leaked 2.2.1 file, root, and get into androidani recovery. There are baseband options in androidani open recovery.
ONLY IF IT IS A MILESTONE!!!!!! and im pretty sure the baseband options are all gsm. Also, there is a list of mostly all the roms available right now (most). Good luck!

[Q] [Q} flash radio so LTE can work in EU or USA?

is it possible to flash a radio file/ whatever so that an 801N which appears to be the same part number and same modem for europe and US versions so the LTE bands can be changed from US to Europe versions?

I assume this means that it is not possible to flash different radio firmware to change the operating frequencies on weither 3g or 4g bands?
Can someone please give me an opinion?
maybe possible?
should be possible?
its be done on other HTCs?
or im out of luck it will never happen because....?

This is a VERY good question, one to which I can't seem to find an answer either on these forums.
For month now I've been hoping that the great minds of the XDA pantheon would have found a way for us to flash, say, an EU radio firmware on a HTC One Developer Edition to enable the EU frequency bands (perhaps while dropping the US bands, I couldn't care less), but I can't seem to find anyone who's ever attempted it with any success.
I'm just pining for that Dev Ed in all it's glory with EU freq bands...
Some say it's hardware, but I just can't seem to believe that HTC would go through all the trouble of creating different hardware for each worldly region. It's far simpler to just build the same device for all and then start locking bands.
What I *did* find was that the Qualcomm chipset should allow for all required freqs, it's just not "enabled".
But perhaps I should stop dreaming ?
Kind regards,
Lander.

Att radio/ Modem for Tmobile note 3

Any devs here who can rip and make a flashable zip of the radio or modem from ATT rom.
I am on tmobile device and noticing that LTE signal is low compared to my other devices.
Thanks

I too would like to try this. I asked about flashing a note 2 ATT modem but I was told that it would more than likely soft brick my phone or worst case hard brick the phone. I've read plenty of other threads where people are flashing different carriers modems on multiple devices, mostly the S3 though and some on the note 1. On the Note 1 I remember a lot of people flashing the T-Mobile Blaze modem on the ATT phone.

The MJ6 update has some Universal CSC changes. I would suggest clean flashing, but make a backup and dirty flash and let us know what you get. Give the phone 15 to 30 as a habit, to make sure there are no issues. I've found out that the phone can seem like it's working then after 15 min or so will start crashing or bootlooping. .
As for ATT Ril, i'll help Miscom look for that.
Anybody has stock file for ATT and of course is on att. send me the following files and i will make a flashable ril
System/lib:
libaudio-ril.so
libreference-ril.so
libril.so
libril-qcril-hook-oem.so
librilutils.so
libsec-ril.so
libsecril-client.so

The xt1053 is compatible. For the others, I don't think so. Most Aosp Roms are unified meaning compatible with all. But check to make sure before flashing.

Be careful when using non-XT1058 roms, or roms from other carriers. If they contain the modem files, they could impact your phone's radio and available bands.
i.e. in the USA, the XT1058 and XT1053 support different bands. From what I understand the XT1058 used by Rogers Wireless supports different bands than the ATT XT1058 from the USA, and so on. While band support is based on hardware, the modem files included in full roms (SBF files) and some OTA updates can/will have an impact too.
Help for Noop
Hello,
You picked the correct device. I recommend that once you root your phone and install a custom recovery (TWRP) you should try CyanogenMod for your ROM. Then if you still want to do more modifications you can use Busy box.
Good lucky!

[Q] Upgrade modem?

Hi. I'm currently on CM12 and I have been facing this problem(?) for a while now. Back when I was on stock 4.4.2, most of the time my phone is stuck on EDGE when I'm using my primary sim card (network A). In order to get 3G/4G signal, I have to explicitly choose a network operator. After a while, it reverts back to EDGE so I have to do that again. However, using my other sim (network B) doesn't have this problem. Now that I'm on CM12, I'm still facing the same issue. I can't use that fix since I think there's a problem with the rom itself when choosing the network. I'm thinking either this is a network error or a problem with the modem itself. I'm currently on NF1 and I'm wondering how to upgrade my modem to the latest one. Thanks!
Why switch modem if you think it's an issue with ROM?
Prerequisites to CM say nothing which modem you must have or that any of them are not good. CM don't change either bootloader, GSM or LTE modem.
CM provide RIL to communicate with modems.
QualComm based CM hasn't been able to manually search carrier since Aug 2014 https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/CYAN-4902 and perhaps the decision to de-unify S4 CM can resolve this for Lollipop within a time frame of 3 months. [emoji12]
Please inform if you can find any chance log of what's fixed for different modem versions.

As I've said, this issue is also present when I was still on touchwiz/stock rom. And as you said, CM doesn't change the modem so the issue might be with the modem itself so I'm planning on upgrading to the latest one. Problem is, I don't know how to.
Just to be clear, I'm on EDGE most of the time on Network A on both CM12 and stock touchwiz rom. On Network B, I normally get HSPA+.

You should use the modem based on the country that you are using the phone as the bands available in each country and those included in the modem differ else you may have network issues, for more info refer to this post

Based from this, I need the modem that works with 1800/2500/2600 bands. I'm currently on NF1 and I have no clue which other modem works with the said bands. Help please?

Thank you! One question though, should I flash NI1_AUT_wifi_150107.zip as well? I'm not sure if that only applies if I'm on the WizCyan rom.
Just in case something wrong happens, if I go back to the stock rom using odin, will it revert back to the original modem?

Yes, the zip file applies to WizCyan ROM.
If you flash firmware the modem is included so yes it will revert to the modem in the firmware

Thank you so much! Will update if it works.
Edit: Successfully flashed the modem but I'm still stuck on EDGE. Oh well. At this point I don't what's the problem; is it my phone or the network?
So I managed to make it work by fiddling with the APN.
