Best ROM? CM12 vs CM11 vs Stock vs Others ROM - Motorola Droid 4

Hi, since I get my D4 i'm using CM12, but the perfomance is... very poor.
I'm getting a lot of freezes and low ram free... Sometimes lost calls and, in some situations, my D4 vibrates and the sound appear 2/3 seconds after....
What do you think about CM11?
anyone tries other ROMs?
what is the best ROM?
I think that uses the latest Android vers isn't very important...
I really like CM12 but I want a good stability...
thanks

I didn't get any freeze on CM12 (i used nightly edition)
Ofc. you can use CM11, it still works, but don't upgrade system (it automatically install CM12)

really? maybe the freezes could be caused by Xposed framework or Custom OC Kernel....
but I read other users that had similar issues...
What Nightly vers are you using?
Are you using Xposed or custom kernel?
are you using safe slot?
thanks for your reply!

I don't have now CM12, but I used it week ago on CM12-Overclock kernel
But on "normal" slot (idk how to unpack ramdisk.img (all programs gave error)) and without Xposed

I don't know why but it seems that wifi works better in stock ROM. My wifi signal usually drops while running CM 10.2.1 (stable one) or LiquidSmooth but runs smoothly on stock ROM

For the bluesleep process that pervent your device to enter sleep mode you should take a look if it's a bug of the rom and if it's reported from other users. I think that the Wi-Fi is maybe a problem due to a not perfect flash of the rom. In anyway wipe everything, format system and sd card, than reflash the rom, you migh be good to go.
P.S. Try to freez bluesleep with greenfy and see what appen. This could be call a temporary fix if you don't care that much about Wi-Fi.
Good luck and have a great life

Also can you suggest me a decent MIUI rom which work without lag. the rom which i was is without lag but the only problem is bluesleep & the previous wifi one

The rom you may looking for is a slimmed rom based on stock 2.3.6 rom by Samsung with Battery Extender kernel. The fastest and less battery-eater rom is the AOSP GB but has no working 3G connection so that's why you may not like it. Custom ROM suffers some instability some times and they're not perfect so that's why you should use on a phone you use for your job a stock based rom, in my opinion.
P.S. Do you really need a MIUI rom updated to a newer version of Android?
Also i have one more doubt. when i moved to custom kernel the boot logo animates like my phone gonna die i9s that normal or due to some voltage fluctuations ??

No problems at all, it's "normal" (i know sounds weird XD) when you flash a kernel that do not came with the rom itself. I've never faced instability related to voltages even in overclock. Remember that not every CPU is capable of the same overclock. If you doubt about stability do a stress test of cpu trough an app (I use it to test oveclock frequecies).

[Q]ROM with fully working 2g network (=no signal lost)

Premise : as I said in the title,I'm not asking 'what is the best rom ?'.
Now,here's my problem and my question :
Since a month I have 2g connecyion problems (YES,I use 2g connection and I switch to 3g only when I need a data connection;I save more battery and my phone can last 30-40 hours from 100 to 15%),very often my phone loose the signal and it won't turn back until I reboot.
I read in the forum that is a cm bug and in some vanir rom the problem is fixed.
Here's what i did trying to fix the problem :
-restore stock firmware through kdz file (v20a)
-root/recovery and unsecure boot flash.
-flash cm 10.1.3 and iodak kernel (clean instal) -> still 2g problem.
-flash vanir stable 4.3.1 with stock or werewolf kernel (clean install) -> 2g problem and sometimes when I lost the signal the phone gets hot and my battery drains really fast. I have also another problem : my phone was at 90%,i turned it off and in the morning the battery was at 0%.
-flash zaiben rom with iodak kernel(really old version that worked correctly in the past)-> wifi problems after some reboots.
-flashed miui 3.12.6 from miuiandroid with optimus prime kernel -> 2g problems.
I don't know what to do,can someone suggest me a stable rom without network problems (wifi/2g,3g/gps/nfc) and maybe with good performance and battery life ?
Yesterday I flashed 4 different rom (always with a clean install) and I'm tired to try different rom so please, don't answer me 'make backup and try this or that rom' and share your experience instead.
Thanks in advice.
stock rom, or any custom 4.2.2+ rom with EPRJ RIL implemented, which you can do yourself. look for my tutorial in general subforum, replacing CM RIL with EPRJ RIL gives rock-stable connection
I already looked your tutorial and the official thread of the tool but afterinstalling java, net framework etc,the tool doesn't work.
It says 'java not recognised' or something similar.
And what about kernels ? Does they (or some of them) create some kind of problems ?
So,if I'll make the tool works and I'll replace the ril,can I use cm 10.1.3 with iodak 8.0 kernel without problems ?
The strange thing is that network worked correctly with cm 10.1.3 for months, but now it doesn't.
BTW,wich rom are you using ? Can it fit for my phone use ?

you gotta edit some settings on your computer, if you have issues with java. check out the link in the tutorial to the program i used to extract .jar file, it has the proper troubleshooting ^^
kernels shouldn't have issue with 2g/3g, but i do know some custom kernels have issues with wifi on stock and stock-based rom that appear randomly, and just as randomly go away (wifi stuck on turning on)
and yeah, you should be able to use iodak+cm combination without the issue. and it is strange that the problem just now started appearing, but hey, if this works, you got yourself set for future
atm i'm back on modified stock with iodakv7, i needed proper mhl support. i've however used i think all the roms for our device atleast for a week or so. carbon, slim, omni, vanir, cm, aokp, pac, mokee...
Ok,I'll try to fix java problems and I'll se what happens and I'll report here

Don't use unsecure boot flash' it is.unnecessary
Try optimus play kernel, it is excellent for me (wifi, 3g always on, whole day of battery and more)
Sent from my LG-P880 using Tapatalk
now I'm on miui 3.12.6 with optimus prime kernel and I edited the RIL using flyingbear's tutorial but it's too early to say if it works but first impression seems good.
I'm too busy to check another rom (i'd like to use vanir 4.3.1 or cm 10.1.3) and other kernel but when I'll try it,I'll write my impression
I have similar problem with network on latest miui. When i restart device or just turn it on/off i can find network untill i go to airplane network and switch it off again then everything is fine. Also it happened just 1 time that i lost my network while my phonewas on.I did discovered that this is MiUi problem since i never got this kind of behavior on any previous rom.Last couple of days even fter restart my network is ok no need to use airplane trick anymore. So again i will say this is miui bugg for somereason.
Sent from my LG 4X HD refrigerator.
Trust me,it's a month that I "fight" with mobile network,it's a common problem for all non-stock based roms, sometimes happens and sometimes not.
However you can fix it with flyingbear's tutorial.

stable ROMs? for i9305

SHORT VERSION: is there any stable rom for the i9305 that can also run banking apps that look at if your rooted? Or just a stable rom for i9305!? Or even a stock rom that has no bloat-ware (for i9305 of course and in uk)?
LONG:
So I started out a journey looking for a good stable rom and of course cyanogen caught my eye but I unfortunately swapped to a 4g service and swapped my phone right before embarking on this journey to a i9305 - crap!
I thought wow great 4g and 2gig ram it'll be perfect with cyanogen 11 so I waited and no M build for i9305 all year long argh! So I gave up and tried a nightly cyanogen 11 and it was buggy as hell. So gave up on that after a few weeks and trying different updates moved to carbon - again only nightly available even more bugs maybe I was just unlucky in timing but on to cyanogen 10.1 I was going backwards now not the most fun but it still has a few bugs but is way more stable and I loved the speed and camera was great but still it feels a bit old and I still prefer stock . So I am thinking now I either give up n get stock or go on to yet another one but im not confident now ...thanks!
i also like stock ROM...until now didn't found one which will have wi-fi working with stock kernel...so i will give it a try to rXTREME.JB.4.3-V5.1.1 with a custom kernel and see how it works...

Hmm yes too many bugs in all the custom roms on this device wish I could try a cyanogen M build ...
if you want to install rXTREME you MUST make a full wipe....in instruction it says it is recommended....but in reality is a MUST...all kind of bugs...and freezes...just opened screen and tried to unlock it...light effect...instant freeze...had to reboot...
i also wanted a stable CM11....not with huge battery drain...and other force closes....
hi men ,
i used the slimKat rom on my gti9305 and it's the perfection for that
Try Pacman RC1 everything is working very very less Force closes though but I have flashed paranoid ROM gapps and Google play app is not connecting :/
Very less it works
Sent from my GT-I9305 using XDA Free mobile app
I flashed this recently. Its working PERFECT :good: :good:
(bloatware can be turned off)
performance improved, minimum ram usage, longer battery life (comparing to 4.3 stock rom)
NO PROBLEMS

[Trouble] Galaxy S I9000 toooo slow on ICS/JB

Guys, A little Help!
I am currently using my old Galaxy S I9000, as my HTC has gone to Service Centre for a week.
Last time I left it with JB Custom Rom (C-Rom Bean v1.9.0 Final) which was working quite OK! Now its too much laggy and slow all over while on JB Rom. I have already tried CM11, CM10.2, Slimkat, SpiritRom and Dark Unicorn (all 4.x.x and above).
Currently I am on CM7.2, which is working quite fine, considering its based on GB 2.3.7. I was also looking for working Lewa OS link, as I liked the one that I installed on my HTC, but couldn't find one.
Can anyone help me to understand what has happed to make this phone go soooooooo slow. Even if I am unable to instal Android 4 and above, I would still need the link for Lewa OS. If anyone has it, that'd be most helpful.

Mainly, the problem is on the way the different roms use the dalvik vm and the way aforementioned roms are unable to leash cache used. So, my recomendation is a good rom which a good preset over dalvik used of memory and applications like App Cache Cleaner to erase the cache every now and them.
For me the perfect combination is:
1. Stable CM10.2.1 rom
2. Kernel Semaphore 3.3.0 (avoid version 3.3.0s because it gives problems with Netflix, besides version 3.3.0 is perfect and you can activate bigmem with Semaphore Manager App, so 3.3.0s is nonsense) (NOTE: You need odin for installing it, follow this instruction)
3. Gapps: gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip
4. Semaphore manager app. Settings for Semaphore Manager:
- Smartassv2 Governor: Awake ideal freq 900000 / Up rate 10000 / Down rate 99000 / Max CPU 50 / Min CPU 20 / Ramp up 300000 / Ramp down 300000 / Sleep ideal freq 300000 / Sample rate jiffies 2.
- Deep Idle: Enable
- Lock min freq to 100Mhz: Disable
- Active Scheduler: CFQ
- Bigmem: Enable
5. My build.prop to be placed within /system/ (remember to set for this file rw-r--r-- permissions and change owner to root).
6. A launcher like Zeam Launcher or Lightning Launcher
7. And finally an installed App Cache Cleaner Pro to erase the cache every now and them.
Best.
I have flashed CM10.2.with minimal gapps, but now unable to connect to internet. Tried flashing many times after wiping data, clearing cache and clearing Dalvik cache, but still unable to connect to internet.
EDIT: That as a temp problem with my carrier network. So, I have installed CM10.2 with above details. Working fine so far. Will let you know if there is any problem with this setup.

Try to flash the final build 2.2 of SlimBean 4.3 with SlimGapps.
It is faster than CM10.2 and has much better battery life (especially if you use TRDS mode)

OK, I 've flashed it. Lollipop on the i9000. It took 19min until the process was finished.
I have also flashed PA Gapps pico by Tkruzz, all other are probably too big.
The Omni LP alone (just Omni 5.0) is extremely smooth, but quite slow.
After flashing of Gapps (which BTW work perfectly fine) my i9000 has turned into the slowest device I ever used. It is way slower than Eclair, actually just same slow like my S8000 running CM7 from externalSD card.
It takes 15sec to open PlayStore, up to 2min to download and install an app (even smaller apps), about 5-10 sec to react on pressing any button and the device is often running out of memory and soft reboots are the result. It takes up to 15sec until the keyboard appears etc.
Otherwise all important functions work fine, but Lollipop is too big a task for the i9000 and except that it just works, there is simply no many people who would like to use a device with auch slowdowns. Even biggest fans of the i9000 (I might be among them) will have to face the fact that Android 5.0 is actually out of the hardware capacity of the S1
tetakpatalked from Nexus 7 flo
I myself am using CM10.2. Which works fine, with just a bit of lag. Its either that or gingerbread. Anyways, omni 5.0 for i9000 is just experimental at this stage, with promise for a more stable build by @humberos. It may be light on the system, but who knows.
I'd say buy a newer model if we need new OS as software is as good as its hardware and vice versa.
Omni is excellent and very stable, although in Alpha stage. That isn't my point.
LP system cannot get smaller, the i9000 is simply too slow for Android 5.0
It was just an info for people who dream to use Lollipop on i9000. It is a huge slowdown.
I have much faster devices but I don't use LP even there.
tetakpatalked from the legendary i9000 running Omni 5.0
Hey,
I suggest you guys to use SlimBean v2.9 with the latest Slim JB gapps. The phone will be quite fast, despite this device is very old... This version of SlimBean is not available on their site but is here:

I think further versions are significantly slower and this one offers quite a lot of customization as well. Good luck with the i9000 [emoji3]

Hey,
I suggest you guys to use SlimBean v2.9 with the latest Slim JB gapps. The phone will be quite fast, despite this device is very old... This version of SlimBean is not available on their site but is here:

Which Android version is that Slim build and why isn't it on the Slim server?
Is there a md5 checksum?
tetakpatalked from N7100
It's an android 4.1.2 and SlimBean version 2.9. It's not on the official site because it's not the latest 4.1.2 version they have distributed. That's the 3.1 if I'm not mistaken.
Sorry I don't have an md5 for the file...

Good to know. How is the battery life there? With CyanogenMod I remember that 4.1 and 4.2 had terrible battery life, while 4.3 was a lot better.

It can last from morning till the evening but of course depends on the usage.
From what I remember Slim on 4.1.2 was real solid, probably one of my favourite roms. 3.1 wasn't that bad either

I've tried today build 2.9
It worked fine but for some strange reason it didn't recognize my wifi router...all other networks just fine, but not the important one. I couldn't solve it, tried everything.
But I have feeling that SlimBean 4.3 is at least as good.
Hey, BTW I have filmed Omni 5.0.2, I will try to edit it and upload tomorrow

I don't think I ever got around to trying the 4.3 version, I remember the 4.2.2 version was a bit hit and miss when it came to battery (but then again, all 4.2.2 roms save Gamerzrom and a few others were). By the time the 4.4.x version came out I moved onto the S3 so I can't vouch for that, but Slim roms are pretty good
And you legend, thanks a lot

Is there a custom ROM for the P880 WITHOUT a LOT of problems?

I try ROMs and ROMs and ROMs and all are unusable, because the
phone freezes with nameless-5.1.1-20151107-p880-nightly or
reboots when starting apps with euphoria-os-1.1-p880-unofficial-20160208-user or
is extremely slow and is stottering with aosplp-20151122-p880
a..s.o
The apps which lead to a reboot with euphoria work fine with aosp and nameless. Euphoria is fast, faster than nameless, which would be fast enough for me. There are no problems which exist with every ROM.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a ROM for the P880 which works without big problems. At the moment I think about to go back to 4.4 and try beanstalk-4.4.4010-20140904-p880cm
Of course I would be happy to find a ROM with fixed stagefright-bugs, but it looks like to be impossible

Check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66049970&postcount=1195
This is the latest 5.1.1 ROM with security patch level at 2016-04-01. It has all known stagefright bugs fixed so far.
If you wish to report issues on the ROM I shared, then use the thread over there, not here.
MoltenMotherBoard is the last custom ROM that I miss to test. I'm going to try it in the next days.
According to my test, my answer to the thread question is: NO, there's no custom rom working fine for my daily use.
Actually fastest rom was liquid smooth 4.4.4. Our phone hardware outdated. Like the others said this phone is crap
I'm running Euphoria version 1.0-p880-20150130 (Android 5.0.2), it's the best Lollipop based custom ROM for our device in my opinion. Unlike AOSP it has more settings (& features), and it's more stable than later versions of Euphoria. If you want to stick to KitKat, check out the latest CM nightlies.
To be honest, after 2 years of testing custom ROM... today i finally found the best one to keep... STOCK!!!
I've re-discovered the pleasure of see who is calling me at once, not after 20 seconds. I can finally take photos, hear who is calling, open apps without having to wait like 20-30 seconds.
I appreciate the effort of every developer... but at the end, the result is that out of 20-30 custom ROMs for our phone... no one can be used for daily use and being happy with it

having JellyBean running on your device in 2016 is a very very very bad idea.
Here's the issues I found with LG stock JB-4.1.2 ROM v20 euro-open. If you can live with them, then good for you.
- Bluetooth button action broken. Cannot invoke Google Search or Voice Dialer from bluetooth headsets. Fixed in custom ROM such as CM/AOSP KK and LP.
- No update for Google Maps. Version 7 is the final version for v20c. Fixed in CM/AOSP KK/LP.
- No notification from Lock Screen. Fixed in CM/AOSP LP.
- No smart lock to avoid the hassle of entering PINs for known location and known BT device. Fixed in CM/AOSP LP.
- No screen cast. Fixed in AOSP LP.
- No bluetooth tethering. Fixed in AOSP LP.
Actually I'm on stock now (euro 20c), and my version of Maps is 9.25.1.
But yes, you're right...I'm ok because for instance I don't use bluetooth at all.
I still miss to test "AOSP Lollipop 5.1.1 | MoltenMotherBoard"...but my question is: is smooth as the stock? Are these working ? camera, flash, barcode, dialer reader, calls in general..
thanks in advance

When I was still on LG stock JB, Maps somehow got updated. But then the device slowed to crawl and I factory reset it and I didn't get Google Play store to update it again. Glad you have it and it works for you.
Barcode and FM radio are not working. If these 2 are important to you, then you should stick with LG stock.
For UI smoothness, I think Lollipop itself has made tons of improvement that it is at least the same or better than JB. Don't take my words for it, you should try it out yourself and pass on the judgement.
I reinstall again LS KK 4.4.4 and updated to latest Mourta's kernel from modaco forum. Phone back to alive.
