[Q] Lollipop Update Disabled access to Apps on SD - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

WTF! If it's not enough that the interface in Lollipop is light, the access to all my SD apps is disabled. They are all greyed out and when I click on them, it says the app not installed and gets me straight to google play to reinstall.
AT&T screwed something up I guess. Has anyone found any solution for this problem?

have you tried the sd fix? it used to work on kitkat
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2684188

I had the same problem with my phone after I upgraded to 4.4 I think its just the way the system is made btw I'm no expert so don't count on me being right

i updated to lollipop and all my external sd apps function fine? i reinstalled the sd fix first though

Yeah I agree try the SD fix

So far all of my apps work. And almost all of mine are on my SD card.....

"Application is not installed on your phone" after moving apps to SD on Froyo
hey guys,
first of all i searched the forum but didn't find anything like my problem
(i run Froyo on non-rooted Nexus One)
so, i moved several apps to SD using that ADB command to change default install location from internal memory to SD. everything worked and apps were running smoothly. then my battery went dead during the night and when i switched the phone on in the morning i see icons with green robot for all those apps moved to SD. and if i try running them i get "application is not installed on your phone" error message. thou apps are still on the SD. it seems that my phone erased the part of the data of those apps stored in the internal memory.. which sucks.
anyone faced such a problem so far? i wonder if it's possible to solve without reinstalling all the apps..
many thx in advance.
Cheers.
It happened on my phone too, just removed battery for few minutes.
Looks like a bug.

Forcing the apps to install to SD will break them. In order for applications to be successfully moved to the SD card in Froyo, they must have an appropriate flag set on them from the developer. If the application isn't updated with this flag, it will not work by default from the SD card.
The ADB command should work fine (I think) once all apps are updated, but until then it will just cause problems like what you're seeing.

Not sure, as I'm currently unable to access the market (being deployed will do that). There is a thread on the subject though, which is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=687659

THanks man!!
I set the installation location to SD via ADB and restored my apps via Titanium Backup. Here's what I found.
Apps will occasionly seem to have dissapeared (from App page + download page from the market) seems intermittent and seems to correct itself.
If you mount the SD card via USB then obviously your phone can't access the apps, after unmounting it takes a little time for the system to correct itself (my recommendation is to turn the screen off and on again).
Keep any widget app you are going to use on the phone's storage (i.e. install app, then move it back to phone via the 'applications' menu).
Shortcuts to apps will revert to a generic green/white robot icon, but they will still work (not when the SD card is mounted via usb though obviously).
Basically any application/live wallpapers or anything else that you expect to run live (constantly) should be moved to the phones memory.

This is how I've been using it, also when you reboot the phone, I give it a minute to calculate the applications on the SD card and load them into the phone memory. (Notice if you go to App settings while you can't access the application, they are all there and being "calculated."

[Q] Corrupted filesystem or what?

Recently I have problem with apps/games that become corrupted after a while and dont know whats going on with the phone.
In Manage Applications some of the apps/games become greyed out and displayed 0 kb. Even I uninstalled all those greyed out apps and after a reboot. They come back again in manage applications.
What can causing those corrupted apps/games?
Mine phone are rooted + cwm and stock Nordic ROM.
had you used anything like apps2sd to move the apps to/from the sd card?
ive had it happen on my old hd2 but this was due to a failed retore from a backup and apps not being linked in correctly

No, never used any app2sd before and never move any app/game to mine external sd either.
Even I reinstalled all those greyed out at manage applications and uninstall it directly. After reboot, it still there and I just dont know whats happening.
Ex, I installed tip off basketball game from market, play it for few minutes and after a moment. The game get corrupted and displayed as 0kb greyed out.
That apps dispalyed as SD in screenshot means, thay are installed on internal memory SD and not external_sd location.
Any got a clue whats going on?
possibly a corrupt system, might want to back it up and wipe it clean

[Q] Installing apps on KitKat 4.4.4

Hi guys
I've done a fair bit of searching but still cannot find the full and final answer to this question. I'm getting mixed answers which seem to be confusing me more and more.
I've installed Evervolv's 4.4.4 (non DM) on my TP and can install apps but only onto my internal storage. I believe KitKat doesn't allow you to install apps to external storage (i.e. Sd cards), however I believe the SD cardfix that you can download from the play store allows you to fix this.
I've installed it and ran it - which now says all is good but I still cannot seem to install apps to my sd card. I've got 6gb+ waiting to be used whereas I can only install a couple on my internal storage.
Any help would be great. If I need to install another ROM to get this functionality then please let me know which.
Thanks in advance

[HELP] Documents (File manager) crashing

I have a really strange problem that started all of a sudden today.
When I used UMS to transfer stuff into my 8GB Sandisk micro SD everything was fine but when I unmounted and tried to access the card using the Documents file manager that comes in AOSP the app kept crashing. "Unfortunately, Documents has stopped working"
I tried all kinds of things like formatting the card with exFAT but it is still persisting. Sometimes the SD card wouldnt mount.
I tried the "Scan Fix" that comes when you plug it in a windows 7 pc but now even that option won't show up as sometimes the card just doesnt get mounted. Sometimes it did but sometimes it didnt
So i thought maybe that was the end of my card's life so I tried another SD card (1 GB) but the same thing is happening. It is mounting fine with UMS and i can copy stuff into / from it but the Documents app is still crashing. Have tested the same with two different ROMs and it crashes on both
I don't understand what the problem is. Surely both cards havent gone bad because the 2nd one works with another phone I have. I will have to check the 8GB one as well.
Anyhow, would anyone have any idea what is going wrong or what might be a possible solution for this?
Help :crying:
Quick update.
I flashed back stock and the card seems to be working (both of them)
What the hell?
What could have happened?
Update. Its somehow fixed after I have installed stock and re-rooted and flashed custom ROM :good:
EDIT: THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE BACK WTF?
EDIT: Documents is crashing but ES file manager works

[Q] titanium backup broken- only backs up to internal memory

Hi,
Just got a new LG L90 and wanted to back it up. On my old phone, I used TB and it worked ok most of the time.
But this newer version only backs up to the internal memory which is a no-no. After I discovered that it was defaulting to internal memory, I moved the directory to the sd card, went into prefs and changed it to the sd card. I figured something was wrong when TB claimed there were no backup files in the directory when clearly there were.
But I did a backup anyway, pointing to the SD card, yet it went right back into internal memory.
No error messages, just doesn't work.
Fixable, or get something more modern?
Thanks.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, same thing. I looked closer and found out what is going wrong. It is defaulting to /mnt/sd but that is pointing to internal memory. I am not sure if this is a LG or Android problem but anyway, I found the real location but it won't let me select it for some reason. Did kitkat move away from /mnt locations? I am going to keep digging .. I don't know android that well but know general linux and /mnt was used for years.

Google introduced new security features in KitKat. Apps are no longer allowed external sdcard access without some kind of patch. I use, with CM11 and also LG Stock, Xposed framework with 3 other modules. They are "HandleExternalStorage", "KitKat SD Card Full Access", and "XInternalSD". I also use Link2SD to help conserve user data space.

Thanks..I did some reading and stumbled apon this info. Surprised TB is not away of the issue though. I found something in the playstore that changes permissions and now it is working.
I guess I need to relearn the newer androids as I am coming from 2.3
Thanks again.
