Speaker problems?

When on a call the other person sounds very metallic, but when playing music through the back speaker it sounds fine. Also when on a call the speaker phone sounds fine. Is my speaker detective or is the quality just bad for the ear speaker?

HTC phones always have crappy speakers in them. I doubt you have a bad one, it's just that HTC is cheap and won't put in better speakers.

I disagree. Quality isn't bad, volume is the issue.
of the 3 HTC phone i've had here is my raking
1. tilt... by far had the best speaker
2. vivid
3. aria
i'm not impressed with the vivid's speaker but it's not horrible. not something i would choose as to whether to get the phone or not.
well I mean does anyone else's sound like they have their ear on a tin can?
I'm not having issues with my earpiece speaker but I am with the back speaker.. I can get a call and it is SUPER loud, so much so that the speaker actually distorts. I've tried turning it down but I have "pocket mode" on, so it boosts the volume, weird thing is, it's in a case, not my pocket. Could the case be screwing with the phone's ability to "sense" whether it's in a pocket or not? And why in the heck would the speaker even be distorting?! It does not do this when I play music thru it at max volume, by the way..

Search YouTube for the teardown video. Make sure the board is connected properly. Maybe buy a new headphone connector and install it?
Im curious to do something wrong at my mainboard...

Is there any modification we can make that will allow the top speaker to work with music and videos aswell?

Doubtful. It's not a loudspeaker. If a simple mod would turn it into one, surely Motorola just would have made it that way from the start.
It's not a speaker. It's just a grille covering the ear piece to give the phone symmetry.
The speaker is really loud anyway, much better than the Nexus 5.
Thanks for the replies guys, the speaker is amazing but just wished that this phone could have stereo sound. I just can't believe that the 2nd gen moto g does and this doesn't. Don't know if it's just me but I can really notice hearing audio more from one ear while watching things or playing games.

Headphone Jack issue. HELP!

So my nexus 6 has always had an issue with the headphone jack. The audio has a constant static in the background and at low levels it severely distorts sound. Especially videos. I looked in my headphone Jack and noticed that at the bottom there is a little black spot that is very out of place. Also one side has a small out of place line that reminds me of rust/curosion or something. What should I do!? Its driving me and my anime and music crazy!
Please help!
THANKS!
Warranty?

Had s similar issue with my audio jack. It's pretty easy to replace yourself if you've had a phone apart before.

I am unsure about warranty.
What type of compressed air.
I'm not risking my phone. I can't afford a new one.
keyboard cleaner canned air is probably your safest bet
We used to spray liquid Freon in to clean electronics, but that is discouraged nowadays.

I tried cleaning with alchohol but that didn't help. And also it really really screws up music when the bass is turned up in music apps. I have a 3 ring no microphone pare of headphones. Does that make s difference? My iPod jack is much more dirty and no audio distortion. My amazon 30 day return is up so I guess Motorola is my only return option. If they don't know I unlocked rooted and booted blisspop with my phone.
Pocket lint? I had some in my Note 3 and a needle and a flashlight does magic.
