[Q] Bionic, Pandora, bluetooth, and my car

I have been having an interesting issue with my Bionic post-JB update, and hope someone here can give me some pointers of where to start.
Before the JB update, I was able to connect to my factory head unit (Toyota FJ Cruiser) without issue. I could stream anything via Bluetooth, and often listened to Pandora while on trips. I updated to JB, and now Pandora will not come through the speakers. a few useful tidbits of info.
1) Pandora thinks it is playing on the phone, but no sound comes out from the car stereo.
2) Google Music and PowerAmp both work flawlessly (even hve track data on head unit now
3) I have verified the basics (Bluetooth volume is up, Bluetooth enabled in Pandora, cycled the Bluetooth setting in Pandora, rebuilt connection to head unit, R&R'ed the app, etc.)
4) I have frozen the volume notification warning they added in JB.
5) Sound WILL play for about 3 seconds if I launch another music app and Pandora opens over it. Once the other app stops, so does the sound.
6) I have not been able to test this in another vehicle as my other car does not have Bluetooth connectivity.
I am at a loss. I can't find anything about anyone else having this particular problem, but it's driving me crazy. I may have to explore other options for music, which would be fine in a couple of months anyway, as a) will be eligible for an upgrade and b) my Pandora One subscription will be ending, but would rather not have to worry about it right now.
If anyone here has experienced anything like this, I would LOVE to have some help.

I have a Droid Bionic and drive 2009 Tundra. Had no issues connecting and listening to slacker radio before JB update. Currently can only play Google play music or anything that I have on my SD card. I have searched and found that it is most likely the updated Bluetooth from AVSP? 1.0 to 1.3 which toyota vehicles dont fully comply with. Sounds like the stereo head units are being left behind with the new blueototh updates. Dont know if there is a way to fix this, but it really sucks. I just bought the truck too. Should not have updated to JB. Maybe I will have to get a new head unit.

I would just use an aux in instead of replacing the head unit. My bionic acts odd when connecting Bluetooth to my 2013 civic. Poweramp always cones on automatically. I usually listen to Xm app. There are apps in the market to help control what apps will play through Bluetooth automatically and I assume those that won't play. I'd search for an app like that was well. I wouldnt replace an OEM head for that. You might have the same problem. I think its fixable through apps if you reseaech enough

I have basically the same problem with my bionic and Lexis CT200. Apparently it is just the 4.1.2 version of JB that is the problem. If you use a 4.2.2Rom out will work. CM10.1 has worked for me. YMMV

Yes, I've had this happen. I can't help MUCH, I'm afraid. All that works for me is to turn off Pandora, turn off BT, start over. But I *am* able to get Pandora to play through my BT usually. It will get confused and only play through the phone at times, but restarting the two seems to help.

I am rooted but still running the stock ROM on my Bionic (4.1.2). I experience this issue with my 2010 Camry. Can anyone verify that a 4.2.2 ROM will alleviate this issue?

S5 bluetooth music skipping

Has anyone found an actual fix for this issue?
Clearing cache, unpairing, and resetting have not worked.

Someone please help!

S5 Bluetooth Potential Fix
I have an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900A running Android 4.4.4 KitKat, and the bluetooth audio has been skipping constantly when it is paired with my car stereo. This issue has driven me absolutely crazy for months. I've literally come close to throwing my phone out the window.
I first thought it was an issue with buffering when streaming from Google Play since those files are all high-quality 320 kbps, but then I realized playing music directly off of my phone also skipped. Next, I thought it might have been the bluetooth receiver in my stock 2012 Toyota Tacoma radio, so I even upgraded my radio to a Pioneer FH-X720BT.
I've been searching and searching online forums for an answer but no luck yet. I also thought it might've been an issue with Android 4.4.2 and was anxiously anticipating AT&T coming out with a software update in the US. Well, it finally came yesterday and guess what? Bluetooth audio has STILL been skipping.
I figured it had to be something else like CPU availability -- like my phone just didn't have the oomph to stream audio via bluetooth. I downloaded the free GSam Battery Monitor from the app store to see what was using my phone's CPU the most. Once it was downloaded, I went to "App Usage" and then under the top menu "View CPU Minutes Used." I thought it was weird that my Alarm Clock Xtreme app was at the top along with Android System, Kernel (Android OS), and the Intellicast weather app. I uninstalled the Alarm Clock and Intellicast apps and so far the frequency of skips is much lower -- 4 whole songs with no skips on my drive home. Not sure if this will work for you, but try disabling or uninstalling apps that use the CPU the most.
Android should really come out with a better solution for this issue instead of me having to figure out which third-party apps (that I frequently use, btw) that I have to get rid of. I listen to music all the time from my phone via bluetooth, and I am almost frustrated enough to go back to the dreaded iPhone (at least its freaking bluetooth works seamlessly). You'd think there would be some kind of CPU task management prioritization that would put Bluetooth Sharing at the VERY TOP (sort of like task manager in Windows where you can increase/decrease CPU priority). Anyone else got any better ideas? I've considered rooting, but I'm stuck with stock since it's an AT&T phone. If only complex technologies would just WORK..

I was having skipping on both Bluetooth and via aux cable, although I primarily use aux. After much trouble shooting, I finally reflashed from scratch and haven't had the problem since...aux or the limited Bluetooth I use. Of course I'm rooted and thought it must have been something I screwed up, but my phone acted a little screwy even before I ever rooted.

Yeah, this issue has driven me absolutely crazy since I upgraded back in May from my S3, which never had this problem in the slightest. I've tried everything I can think of short of a fresh install from absolute scratch. I'm on unrooted stock (4.4.2 at the moment - 4.4.4 has failed to update the couple times I've tried today). I've been hoping AT&T would get Lollipop rolled out and that it would somehow help whatever annoying glitch is causing this issue, but the fact that 4.4.4 only JUST pushed out from them makes me doubt AT&T will get Lollipop out in any sane amount of time.
I've tried settings in apps like Poweramp for it to use highest priority, but that makes no difference. This is such a basic thing to be so screwed up. I've watched process monitors while it does it, and there's no obvious reason for it. CPU usage seems fine while it's glitching. Nothing is consistently showing in the log when it's happening. I have essentially given up hope of every figuring out what is causing this.
When (if) Lollipop rolls out from AT&T for the S5, I'll see if that upgrade somehow finally helps fix this glitch (assuming that upgrade doesn't keep failing like the 4.4.4 one does). If not, I'll do a fresh install. And if I'm doing that, I'll probably do a custom ROM if I'm gonna go through all that effort...

Bluetooth Audio Buzzing Noise on Pioneer Stereo
So I contacted Pioneer, Samsung, and Crutchfield regarding the issue of bluetooth audio skipping and/or making an extremely loud buzzing noise for 3-5 seconds while streaming from my Galaxy S5.
Pioneer alluded to requiring the ground cable needing to be directly grounded the chassis instead of the factory ground wire. This really didn't make sense because this issue only persists when playing via bluetooth -- not USB, radio, Aux, etc. Plus, the factory ground wire IS connected to the frame anyway, and Crutchfield, BestBuy, and local car audio installers all said they would ground it to the black factory ground wire.
Tonight, Samsung said that this was a known issue, but only related to Pioneer radios. I ended up finding a bluetooth firmware upgrade to my radio on Pioneer's website. My current Bluetooth Version listed on the head unit display is A820, and the firmware update is for A860. Samsung said this should resolve my issue, so I'm going to give it a shot. They also said that the Android Lollipop 5.0 update from AT&T would address this known issue. I saw on another android forum that AT&T reported the update will be release in February this year, but they didn't have a specific date.
If this doesn't work, I'll try putting my phone in Safe Mode and stream audio over bluetooth. If that fixes the issue, then I'll have to painstakingly narrow it down to one or more 3rd-party apps. Typically, I force stop all 3rd-party background processes and only run GSam Battery Monitor, Clean Master, Twilight, and Nova Launcher.

Bluetooth Audio Buzzing Noise on Pioneer Stereo
So I finally put my S5 in safe mode to rule out 3rd party apps, and the Pioneer HU still did that weird, intermittent buzz glitch for about 1 second. The same thing happened today when streaming from my iPad, so now it seems like the android bluetooth wasn't the culprit after all.. I think it must be the cheap SocBlue Bluetooth module Pioneer puts in their radios. Several reports on other forums point out these on-going issues with Pioneer. Sound quality is great for radio or CD, but I warn you: DO NOT buy a Pioneer car stereo if you plan on frequently using a Bluetooth audio connection. I contacted Crutchfield tonight and will be swapping out the Pioneer FH-X720BT for a Kenwood DPX500BT. Hopefully this is the last time I'll have to deal with this kind of issue.

I did this with my iPhone and it worked!!!
Goto settings > bluetooth
press the little info icon on the right side of the FH-X720 or FHX-820BS paired device tile
This will open up a settings view.

Android Auto and the Nexus 6.

I thought it may be interesting to have a thread where Nexus 6 users with the supporting hardware systems could post: Tips, How to's, experience, etc. about the Android Auto APK and Nexus 6 devices. Please feel free to enlighten all who enter. :good:

Android auto is just a remote display and sound, isn't it? I don't find it particularly interesting since it *depends* on the phone for the "android" aspect. It is a much better option to install an Android HU in the car, then it isn't functionally dependent on the phone.

It is a mobile application for using your phone in a car. It displays on the cars touch screen and is controlled by voice commands. It only uses the bluetooth stack for phone calls, all other sound and video comes from the phones usb port. This equates to better audio and clear, crisp video. By the way, it only works on the latest Android HU.

i've been using it with my Pioneer 4100-NEX, it works quite well. i wish you could swipe away cards and have more notifications push though (ie, sms and hangouts come through, but not facebook messenger)
all in all i'm pretty happy with it, it's fast, simple, pretty and i've been pleasantly surprised with how responsive the resistive screen on the HU is.

HU does *not* require android to work with android auto.

If you want to try out Android Auto you can sign up for the beta of the app called AutoMate. First you'll need to join the beta group in Google+. Next you'll have to agree to be a beta tester with google play. Then you'll finally be able to download the app. I have been using the app for a couple of days now and I personally think that it is great. Its just like Android Auto, at least from what i've seen in all of the android auto demos. I have a pretty good car mount that can fit the nexus 6 so when I took a 4 hour trip this weekend everything worked flawlessly. The best part is that you've already got a giant 6 inch capacitive screen, why not use it instead of paying at least $800 for the cheap resistive screen version of the pioneer head units.

I have a pretty interesting issue where my Android Wear watch (Moto 360) is being CONSTANTLY pinged by my Nexus 6 while plugged into Android Auto. For the life of me, I can't figure out why. Maps is the only app I use regularly in Android Auto and I have it muted on Android Wear...yet, it's draining my Moto 360 battery QUICKLY every time I plug in. It's the strangest thing. I've had to start putting my 360 into Airplane mode to avoid problems while driving. As soon as I unplug the Nexus from my Android Auto HU, I then have to reconnect my 360 in the Android Wear app...or else it won't reconnect and continues to drain battery.

yeah I have the pioneer 4100nex and originally was using a Moto G and it works great and then I preorderd the ATT galaxy S6 Edge and received it on tuesday, well the S6 edge doesn't work with the Android Auto, so I returned it and just bought google play edition Nexus 6 64gb, and works perfect, I really like the google navigation, reads texts and you can voice reply to the texts,you can play your google music, I`m very happy with it.:good:

I like to believe we all know how to use our phones hands free in a car and need no special app to do that. That's the way most of us have been doing it for the past six years or so since the smartphones came out. A simple bluetooth radio used to give you all you needed paired with your phones screen. But now it's much easier to get into your car, plug your device into your hidden USB port and let it charge with screen off and have a heads up display on your radios big screen while the audio is streamed through USB and the only thing using the bluetooth stack is the phone part of the phone. Sound quality is vastly improved and everything runs so much smoother. Plus the steering wheel controls for answering calls, activating OK google and other voice related options allows you to keep your eyes on the road and your hands upon the wheel.

First if your car already has Bluetooth like mine then you still have all of the same controls as the actual android auto head units. Also just like on my phone it's not like you can just say OK Google with the music playing but if the music isn't at least I can just say OK Google even with the screen off as well and will get a response. More that likely a person will still end up looking at the device or take their hands off of the wheel when giving a command. I mean come on, Google now works but everyone knows that it's still not perfect yet. Even on my phone I still have to type out what I'm saying even if I'm annunciating perfectly just FYI... Bluetooth audio has also vastly improved over the years. I would argue that the average person would not even notice the difference between Bluetooth audio and being playing directly over USB. Also don't say that it runs 'so much smoother' because most of us have seen the videos and they are still laggy and still not as responsive as our phone themselves. I was simply giving an option to people who wanted to try out android auto without having to buy a crappy resistive screen head unit unless you wanted to shell out over $1000 for one. Please try and understand what I started this thread for. It is for those of us who are using Android Auto with a supporting head unit. Just like back a few months ago, I was using the sync system in my car. I have never had any issues with my voice to text, every once in a while a word would be incorrect, but the more you use it in a quite environment the better your results get. My text messaging reads back my response before it sends and I can either allow it to send or say the message again. I have not had to touch my phone in a car for five years and don't plan on doing anything like that today even with the radios display. The idea of hands free is exactly that, Hands Free. If you don't have the tech to support and help contribute to developing apps that help alleviate the use of hands in the car, this is not the forum thread for you. I don't know what music application you prefer, but the ones I use I pay a premium for because they offer me higher bandwidth and truer sound. And you can immediately here the difference between bluetooth and wired. It's been rumored already that Bluetooth is soon to become extinct and it seems that is the way mobile tech is rolling. BTW, HU the way I was using it my Head Unit not heads up.

That would be the ideal, but very few cars come with a built in cellular connection, I know they are available but this is the inexpensive way to go. What I like the most about it is the ability to put the phone in my center compartment where the USB outlet is hidden, shut the compartment while the phone is charging and still have access to all of my phones functionality straight from the steering wheel. It's wonderful not to have to look at a screen, and if I do glance at the screen to see a turn that might be coming up or what song is playing on a stream, it is big and clear and takes not even a second to see. Luckily, the Navigation in google maps is pretty trustworthy and gives voice commands with plenty of time to spare so it's rare to even have to look at the Map when moving. My next car will have built in cellular service, it was just still to expensive four years ago when I bought my car and my service provider did not have a system in place for plugging in their tech. They do now but I won't be in the market for another car for at least another year. The thing that got me into having a Android Auto supporting HU is my text messaging application and the sync system, would not play nice together anymore because of changes in Lollipop from kit kat. Sync kept crashing the bluetooth sharing feature anytime I received a text. And since I was using that tech for the past four years, there was no way I was going back to having to touch a screen or try and type a text in the car. The developers I work with tried many fixes to see if we could alleviate the problem, but every thing we tried failed. The problem was immediately remedied with the new HU. Now I'm trying to find others that use the same tech, so we can share our experiences and any other useful features we find or help each other with certain problems one might experience. That is what this thread is about. If you have a Android Auto compatible HU and a Nexus device, this is a place to share.

[Q] Nexus 6 Bluetooth issues...

I've had my Nexus 6 since Jan. 1, upgrading from an HTC One M7 GPE running 5.0 Lollipop. I experienced Bluetooth connectivity issues with the HTC One after upgrading to 5.0L from 4.4KK, and I knew they were 5.0 related, so I expected somewhat of the same when getting the N6. My problem is, even after upgrading my N6 to 5.01 and then 5.1, most of my Bluetooth issues still exist. I'm trying to figure out if they are indeed software related, or if maybe I have a defective BT radio. I'm rooted, running stock 5.1 LMY47M, with ElementalX Kernel and Nova Launcher. Here is a list of the issues I'm having with my N6 and Bluetooth:
1. Constant dropped connection to my car's bluetooth. Will connect when car is first powered on, then drops connection after about 20 seconds only to reconnect 30 seconds after that, then drop again within 30 seconds. Sometimes it will connect and stay connected for hours. This issue didn't exist with my HTC One running 4.4KK, but did happen intermittently after upgrading it to 5.0L. This issue also doesn't seem to exist when connecting my wife's N5 running 5.1 LMY47D.
2. Problem #1 also seems to exist when connecting my N6 to my Nvidia Shield Tablet running 5.0L, but not as persistent as with Car BT.
3. When my N6 does connect to my Nvidia Shield Tablet, I can send messages using joaoapps' AutoRemote over Bluetooth from my N6 to my Tablet, but not from my Tablet to my N6. Both phone and tablet are configured correctly. This one has me completely stumped and I've spent hours troubleshooting it before just giving up.
3. Audio stuttering when connected to my BT headphones. Again no issue when using said headphones with HTC One 4.4KK or wife's N5 5.1 LMY47D.
3. Bluetooth seems to turn off randomly. At first I thought it was one of my Tasker profiles, but problem still exists even after uninstalling Tasker.
4. My N6 will not connect to my BT OBDII adapter. N6 pairs with adapter, but adapter does not work with Torque or any other ODBII app. HTC One 4.4KK, wife's N5 5.1 LMY47D, and my Nvidia Shield tablet running 5.0L all connect with no issue.
I have tried every suggestion on threads (Reboot, clear Bluetooth Share cache, clear Bluetooth Share Data, forget all connections and re-pair, Bluetooth Auto Connect app) with no luck. I love my N6, but I've hated these BT issues since day one and I've crossed my fingers with every Lollipop update that they would be resolved, to no avail. I'm wondering if anyone (or everyone) is experiencing similar issues with BT, or is it just my N6, and I should return it for a new one before warranty expires. Thanks.

I only use my N6 Bluetooth with my car (ford sync) and occasionally my home phone. I haven't had any issues. Use it everyday on my commute to and from work.
Since you're experiencing this with multiple devices id assume its you phone too. Maybe contact google for warranty replacement?

Are you by any chance wearing a smartwatch? I had similar problem with my OnePlus One and narrowed the problem down to my Moto 360 smartwatch connection. If I didn't have my smartwatch on while in the car, my auto connection worked fine.
Recently, I switched to a Nexus 6 and find bluetooth to be even worse with this phone. Seems as if the signal being broadcast is too weak. Headset audio will start to breakup, with a clear LOS, after just 10-12 ft. Also, just putting my phone in my pocket will case choppiness. With this phone, however, I have yet to determine whether it is my smartwatch that is causing the problems as well or not.

No, not using a smartwatch yet. Holding off on purchasing one until I can get this bluetooth mess figured out. I did another factory wipe and rolled back to 5.01, this time staying encrypted (used no force before). Seems to be a little more stable this time, although I have no way of telling if it's because of encryption or just luck. I think it's just coincidental, I don't see how encryption would have any effect either way. I applied the 5.1 update to LMY47M and so far much more stable than before. Again, I don't know why. I can say I am rather disappointed with Google and the Nexus 6. My wife's Nexus 5 is far more stable and I can't believe Google would allow a 'flagship' device to remain this buggy. I never had any of these issues with my HTC One. I traded up to the Nexus 6 for the Google experience, no bloatware, fast updates, etc., thinking that meant more stability. It seems that trading bloatware for the Nexus experience has an unexpected consequence of being a beta-tester for Google.

Bluetooth is different on the Nexus 6 for sure.

I did another factory wipe and rolled back to 5.01, this time staying encrypted (used no force before). Seems to be a little more stable this time, although I have no way of telling if it's because of encryption or just luck. I think it's just coincidental, I don't see how encryption would have any effect either way. I applied the 5.1 update to LMY47M and so far much more stable than before. Again, I don't know why. I can say I am rather disappointed with Google and the Nexus 6. My wife's Nexus 5 is far more stable and I can't believe Google would allow a 'flagship' device to remain this buggy. I never had any of these issues with my HTC One. I traded up to the Nexus 6 for the Google experience, no bloatware, fast updates, etc., thinking that meant more stability. It seems that trading bloatware for the Nexus experience has an unexpected consequence of being a beta-tester for Google.

I also use Ford Sync system. For years it has been reliable and worked flawlessly. But starting with the Nexus 6, some of the common applications I use when mobile started crashing the bluetooth stack and giving the error, "Bluetooth Sharing as stopped working."
Before the Nexus 6 which is the first device I've owned with Lollipop, this never happened. The developer of the SMS texting app that is the main one affected by this, has tried everything to resolve the issue but he and I are now beginning to believe it is something baked either into the phone or lollipop, but before this device I never had any problems with bluetooth. I even went as far as to replace my HU in the car with the new pioneer that supports Android Auto, but to my chagrin, it still crashes on that head unit whenever the SMS reader trys to log off and switch back the stream to media. And unfortunately Android Auto currently does not support Pandora which is a must have for me. Pandora runs perfect on the new HU as it did on the Ford Sync as well, but the SMS reader causes BT sharing to error on both devices since the Nexus 6 and Lollipop, so there is something going on with the bluetooth stack and unfortunately no one I can find has any information about what has changed. Hoping Android Auto will soon add Pandora, but Pandora has not given any time estimation about when that will happen.

Recently, I switched to a Nexus 6 and find bluetooth to be even worse with this phone. Seems as if the signal being broadcast is too weak. Headset audio will start to breakup, with a clear LOS, after just 10-12 ft. Also, just putting my phone in my pocket will case choppiness. With this phone, however, I have yet to determine whether it is my smartwatch that is causing the problems as well or not.

Funny that you mention that. Previously used my Nexus 6 in the car with no issues. Only thing that changed is that I started pairing with a smartwatch in addition, and now my Nexus 6 crashes a few minutes into using Spotify over bluetooth. Complete automatic reboot.
EDIT: Yep, can definitely confirm the combination of the smartwatch and bluetooth audio device kills my phone. Had no trouble without the smartwatch.
EDIT 2: Turns out Google just sucks at bluetooth. Phone can crash regardless, it's just more likely with the smartwatch.
EDIT 3: RMA'd the phone and the new one works perfectly. Turns out it wasn't the software after all, or maybe the watch update helped.

I don't know if this is the same issue or not, but....
Ever since I got my Nexus 6 I have had bluetooth issues with both my cars. One has a Pioneer headunit (2014 model, not Android Auto), the other is a 2014 Subaru Forester with stock head unit.
In both cases there are days when it works perfectly. Then there are other times when it's a nightmare.
With the Pioneer headunit, bluetooth audio will be playing for a brief period (maybe 30 seconds?) and then something will happen and the headunit will play a repeated beep (bing bing bing bing bing bing) till I turn off bluetooth on the phone, wait a minute or two and reconnect.
With the Forester's headunit, similar situation - i'll be playing audio and it will just drop out. Maybe 60 seconds later it may come back (sometimes). Same applies to telephone calls via the headunit with bluetooth.
The same 'issue' appears with both headunits with one playing a beep when it happens the other dead silence, but both dropping in and out whether it's bluetooth audio or a call.
N6 running latest firmware. Problem has existed since I got it last year. Recently unlocked and rooted, but hasn't made a difference.

I don't know if this is the same as my problem, but it is the closest thread I could find, so I'll post here.
I've had my Nexus 6 about a week. Running 5.1.1, unlocked bootloader and rooted. I've been using a bluetooth headset for phone audio and media audio. It had been working, though I have experienced some audio dropout and stuttering with media audio. I had not been able to determine if that was a bluetooth problem or an app problem, but now I am leaning towards thinking it was a bluetooth problem because of what is now happening.
Today, media audio just stopped playing through my headset. Phone audio is working. I've tried rebooting, I've tried forgetting and re-pairing, I've tried a different headset and I cannot get media audio to play over bluetooth.

I am having the same problem with Nexus6 I have tried two different Plantronics voyager bt headsets and a Motorola Sliver. Motorola said it may be a bluetooth antenna problem
Did a resit on phone and Motorola Bluetooth
I really need bluetooth connectivity so I am stuck
Only other option is either find someone to open up the phone and check the antenna or do it myself maybe replace it myself or look for another phone and use this one as a backup
What would you all suggest?

Hello I am on the latest e update from T-Mobile and have noticed in my cars Bluetooth when I stream music it seems to have popping noises that seems to be like it's having a hard time keeping up with the stream. I also noticed with audio from videos played through my car has an aweful sync delay. I have a 2017 Ford with Sync3. I have no issues with my older Nexus 6p or GS 7.
Has anyone else experienced this? Wondering if I have a defective unit.

I have the same problem with the new update connecting to my 2017 Ford Escape. I found a work around, though. If I disconnect and then reconnect to the car's Bluetooth, the skipping goes away. No idea why this would happen, but hopefully the next update fixes it. I don't want to do this every time I get in my car!
Edit: Also, I'm 90% sure I didn't​ have this problem before the update.

I hope so too. I have factory reset and turned battery optimization off all Bluetooth apps too. Also I had all the new play store updates. And when I factory reset I lost them all. Seems like the updates tab and filter options were on then gone after reset. ?

Same here. I checked on my wife's G6 and it had the same sync issue. Hope the next update fixes this. According to T-Mobile the next update should drop on the 7th.

Which version of Bluetooth are your devices/car bluetooth connections utilizing? Just curious.
My stereo headphones use 4.0 (Jabra Move), but I haven't noticed any issue yet with high CPU usage, battery drain, quality issues, etc. I've had it on when out in case a call comes in.

Bluetooth Issues
Hi, I have been having bluetooth issues with this phone since day one. It does not happen with all bluetooth devices but it definitely happens with my Pioneer Head unit in the car. Sometimes it also depends on the application used. The strange this is that it does not happen all the time, but when it does it happens frequently. I also noticed that the headunit will get stuck in voice command mode after using voice command, also the phone will answer calls by itself even though this feature is turned off in the settings. The message is "Bluetooth device has stopped working". This obviously did not happen with my G4. I have cleared Cache and all bluetooth devices, and have also cleared them on th Head Unit. I do have another Pioneer head unit in another vehicle, different model and it does the same thing. I have seen many people reporting issues with car units in other vehicles.
Hoping for a quick update, I know weird things are bound to happen with new phones. I really like the phone, this is the only real anoying issue.

I think the issue is more so bluetooth than anything else. Bluetooth never was, and likely never will be, a truly reliable data transfer protocol.

I think the issue has to do with device incompatibilities. Every phone I have had, I see reports of BT problems that I just don't experience. Hooks up to the car in a flash. Works with both my bt headphones and soundbar for my tv.
My car is a nissan maxima.
I have had g2, g3, g4, nexus 6p , g5 and now g6. The nexus was the worst for my devices. It worked, but getting connected took longer.

Possibly The Music App Being Used
I don't have a ford like allot of you guys replying in the thread, however I have noticed that specifically "Google Play Music" will have an issue on any bluetooth device; where if you have a widget of the player on the phone, and you have listened to music using the app BEFORE you connected to the vehicle, when trying to play from where you were in the song, it will pop and skip around. The only way to fix this easily is to pause the song, clear the app out of recents and re open the app and play. Hope this helps some of you.

I have also noticed this with my G6. I have a 2014 Chevy Malibu and use Google Play Music, streaming through T-Mobile. I have no issues streaming music to the same car with GPM through my Samsung GS7. I noticed someone mention disconnecting then reconnecting bluetooth, so I will give that a shot. Still frustrating, and I am hoping that LG will be able to come up with a software fix.

The rest of my phones connect without a problem to my Honda Accord. Even my fiance's G6 connects without an issue. I believe I got a bad unit, will return for another one and see what happens.

There were a ton of Bluetooth issues in 7.0. I had them on my Pixel XL. It really sucks that LG didn't ship the G6 with 7.1. Hopefully they implement the Bluetooth patches in 7.1. I can't get my Dodge truck to display Google Play Music metadata with my G6. My Pixel XL displays the metadata just fine. The G6 does display Google Play Music metadata in my Ford Explorer though.

I'm getting noticeable static when using Pandora via Bluetooth with my 2016 Subaru, but it's an improvement over my OnePlus 3T that wouldn't even allow media playback via Bluetooth with my car.

Go to settings.
Under General go to location.
Tap the 3 dots upper right corner then tap scanning.
Toggle the Bluetooth scanning to off.
This should fix the Bluetooth disconnect car issues.

Hi Yes I am having a similar issue with my lg g6. I am also on tmobile. The sound randomly about 1-2 times during the song just starts to sound terrible (like FM quality). It does have a bit of a static/popping nosie, this happens for a few seconds for me and then goes back to sounding normal.

Thanks for the answer, unfortunately it didn't work.
I tried wiping my phone clean but it seems that after the LG Android Updates it starting acting worse. GPM does not help either.

I've tried everything, reset network, clearing all Bluetooth data, safe mode, even restarted my car's audio system. Brand new LG G6, not a day old and it doesn't connect to car, only call audio connects but not the media. Works fine with portable speakers but keeps disconnecting every ten seconds in car.

Are you using google music? I have found Slacker Radio and Spotify both work for me using bluetooth but Google Music just crashes continually.
