Hi all, I just found a website "unrevoked.com" provides an easy way to root few phones but it doesn't support legend, while I thought HTC Aria has a quite similar hardware to legend, so just wondering if there are anyone already tried it?
thanks!
be my guest , why dont you try it out
It doesn't work.
They don't have an htc legend to use for testing so they can't do it.
They did however say if they can ge their hands on one, as a loaner or from a store that they will do their best to develop a root for the legend.
Until then we have to keep waiting

Anyone on Rogers managed to get this to work? I miss not being able to see the name of the person/company who is calling me.
+1
From what I understood, we need to activate ro.ril.enable.cnap=1 in build.prop.
I tried that, no go (CM7 RC2)
Anyone have any other idea?

Yeah, that doesn't work on a stock ROM either. There's obviously something we are missing.

I would also love to have this. The information must be being sent TO the phones, right? There must be a way.
There's gotta be a way indeed. But alas, it's way beyond my expertise
Some Android phones do support CNAP. So it must be a problem with the software/radio.
Any guru volunteering to help out?
This was a big "WTF, seriously?" for me when I got my Nexus One after having a Nokia N95 for years where this worked perfectly. I've gotten used to it, but I'd love to have the name display again.
Do other carriers do this? People I know using Bell or Telus were surprised or even didn't believe me when I said I used to get name display with my N95, which suggests maybe they don't. Anyone know how common it is for carriers to send the name? I've been with Rogers for over 10 years now and just figured it was a standard thing like with landlines.
I had my SE W810i (best non-smartphone by far) and it worked perfectly. Since then, tried many phones, none of them supported CNAP. Had a nokia that would support it but wouldn't keep it in the call list. Pretty useless when I got missed calls.
I know some android phones do support CNAP. So this is entirely possible. We just need one of the gurus to figure out what has to be done!
I think it has something to do with this file : /data/misc/rild_ril.cnap

I believe Rogers is the only Canadian carrier that offers CNAP/name-display.
I remember the difficulties we had in trying to get it to work on Windows Mobile devices. There was a work-around, but it required , but it required using a specific file (rilphone.dll) from a Rogers ROM for the same/similar device... Maybe we need the /data/misc/rild_ril.cnap from a Rogers ROM for a similar device...
If I'm not mistaken, the Rogers Samsung Galaxy supports CNAP.

I think what we need is an HTC device that has a Rogers ROM with CNAP working, which I don't think exists...
Hi all ,
I currently use a HTC Desire S , and it's still working well after 18 months , except for a fault with the headphone jack .
I'm thinking about picking up a Galaxy S III Mini .
How does it compare to the Desire S ?
Has anybody gone from a Desire S to the Galaxy Mini ? , if so , what are your thoughts ?
I've had a look around , and the Galaxy S III Mini doesn't seem to come with headphones , will my HTC ones work properly with the Samsung ( I mean the microphone part )
How does TouchWiz compare to HTC Sense ?
Thanks , and sorry for all the questions
It has headphones in the package.

I upgraded from the DS and REALLY glad I did!
it WILL come with headphones
Thanks for the replies ,
I didn't think it came with headphones for some reason . All I could find for box contents were the phone , charger and user guide .
No mention of headphones .
How does TouchWiz compare to HTC Sense ? Is it similar enough ?
Thanks

I was always a bit 'nervous' about moving from Sense, been used to that for years! But really impressed and love the TouchWiz! Similar yes, but feels more fluid and polished.
Yes to FM radio.
Its a hell of a lot snappier, better size with it being slightly bigger.
My only gripe with it is the stupid placement power button, on the side... They have been able to disable the power button from waking the device up on the s3, but that doesn't work on the mini...yet.

Perfect , just the info I was looking for .
I'll probably order one on Monday or Tuesday
Last question ( for the moment ) ,
Does it have NFC or not ?
I've seen some posts saying it does and some saying it does not .
Thanks again.

I can't answer that as I'm really not sure myself! I have read and heard Yes and No like yourself...
Look for I8190N version, that's the one you want for NFC at the moment. The other versions I understand don't seem too have it.

Thanks ,
I'm not sure which version I'll be getting .
It'll be supplied by Three Ireland .
It'll be free , so NFC would just be a bonus

You might want to try and get into contact with RioSoul who posted on this same forum about flashing his phone to boost mobile with an open sesame trick or something like that.

HTC Diagnostics is *#*#3424#*#*
There is nothing like you are looking for. ##3424 opens up diag mode for usb diag. What exactly are you wanting to test? Speed? Read/write? Signal strength? There are diff tests but most devices in the same class have minimal diff in those areas.

All it does is test for problems. Isn't he wanting to measure the phones capabilities? Or am I misunderstanding.

I thought what he wanted was a way to test the phone to make sure everything is working. The diagnostics test can test the screen, battery, cellular data, etc and let you know if the phone is functioning properly and he can buy.

It sounds like he already knows that he wants the One, I think he just wants to make sure the engine runs well before buying the car.

Diag Mode on Custom Rom
How would we get DIAG Mode on a custom rom? I am using Slim Rom for Sprint HTC One and can't use the dialer to enable diag mode since it doesn't have the stock dialer.
You have to use a sense based Rom in order to access the menu and I believe the stock dialer is required so if ur Rom is stock based just push the dialer apk.
