Google + Question - Sprint HTC One (M8)

I'm getting a ton of mail from Google+ in my Gmail.
Now, I Googled how to stop it, by turning Google+ emails to "None", but it didn't work.
Any ideas? I did subscribe to a new music app in G+, and that's where they're coming from, but if I turned off email from G+ and saved, why am I still getting them?
Thanks

[Q] E-mail Question (False notifications)

Basically, i'll get a notification saying I have new e-mail (number of new e-mails is random), so i'll slide down the notification bar, click the e-mail notification and it takes me to my inbox... where I have no new e-mails.
I've tried refreshing the inbox to see if it was seeing e-mails not in the inbox yet somehow, and that didn't do it. The only thing I can think of is that my gmail account has an [Imap]/Trash Folder now that has 36 unread messages, and those are the e-mails I deleted without reading (Spam mostly). Is that what's triggering it?
It seems to be the same number of e-mails I received recently, so I think it's sending duplicate notices. Example: I'll receive 4 emails, 2 from a friend of mine, one from a newsletter I read an another spam. I'll read 3, delete the 4th unread, close the mailbox and then 5 minutes later i'll get a notification saying I have between 1 and 4 new e-mails, whereupon i'll check my inbox and there's nothing there.
Anybody know what's going on? I'm using the default captivate mail app to check my e-mail, not the google e-mail app. The google one never gives me this issue. (two different gmail accounts linked to the two different apps so I know which one mail is coming from)
Mine does this too. It's not random though. Whenever I delete an email and it's sent to my trash folder I will receive a new email notification shortly after. If I delete 3 emails, I will receive a notification for 3 new emails the next time it syncs with the server.
So how do we stop it? Stop using the default e-mail app?
Are there other/better e-mail apps out there?

I had the same kind problems with mine, it was also slow sometimes while downloading messages.
The gmail app is good if your using gmail. If not I've had good luck with MailDroid. There are other email apps in the market you can try.
had same problem. this fixed it for me:
from home screen
settings buttong > select settings
Hit applications > manage applications
hit settings button > filter > select all
find "GMAIL" and "Gmail Storage"
For each one, click and do the "clear data" and "clear cache"
let me know if that helps

I figured out why this is happening. I recently went back to the native email app (because Yahoo! Mail for Android is brown poop, and MailDroid's ads can get annoying -- plus it's only push email...I don't like seeing I have 4 new emails, for example, and each time I tap on each item, it downloads just that email through the internet. I want my emails to be downloaded all at once, ready to be viewed. I digress...)
Anyway, the native email app shows you have X (false) new emails when you delete X number of emails because it downloads a number of (older) emails after it syncs, after you had deleted some new ones. In other words, you delete 3 newer emails, it downloads 3 older emails. Scroll down and you will see those 3 at the very bottom as "unread" even though they're old. Annoying.
Is there a way to fix this, perhaps tell the email app to not download emails older than 3 days, for example?
Here's a work around though. This is what I did. I use Yahoo! Mail* and I have thousands and thousands of emails in my Inbox. This might work for your corporate emails too.
1. Create a new folder on Yahoo! (or your corporate email client) called Inbox2 (or whatever).
2. Move all of the messages from the Inbox to that new folder.
3. Sync (Refresh) the email app on your device.
4. Your device will begin "move" the current emails away and will eventually show zero emails.
You'll be starting fresh. Each time you get a new email and you delete the email from your device, the app will have nothing to download and it won't show false notifications. If you decide to keep an email, it'll stay. When you get a new email that you decide to delete, still, the app won't have any older emails to download -and- it won't show any false notifications. It's a workaround. Hope this helps.
*I'd like to add. I've enabled POP3 on my Yahoo! Account and I'm using the native email app as pop 3. I have all of my emails downloaded as they come in. So when I'm in an elevator or in a poor 3G area, I have all of my emails (in its entirety) downloaded ready to be view without fetching for the rest of the messages.
I am using the email client for Exchange and POP3 and I don't have this problem, so maybe it is specific to something the server is doing. Gmail app works fine too for my Gmail account.

I tried what you suggested but unfortunately it doesn't work.
I think the problem of the false notifications occurs, cause the email client synchronises each folder (inbox, spam, trash etc.) separately. So when we get a new mail which goes to our inbox, we get a notification and then we go to our inbox and we find it there. When we delete an email, we move it from inbox to the trash folder. So the client synchronises the trash forder and sents a notification that we have a new mail. Then we go to our inbox but we see no mail, cause it's in the trash folder. The same occurs with spam. When we receive a spam mail, it is directly sent to the spam folder. So we get the notification of a new mail, but when we go to our inbox we find nothing.
That's the only way i can explain the false email notifications and i can't find a way to solve this annoying problem. If anyone can help would be much appreciated.
Happens to me too. Must be a bug. It only happens with IMAP and not Exchange mail. If you delete emails it will download older ones and do the notification.

[Q] Contact picture (phone rivalry)

So when I started using my phone I was thrilled that it took my gmail contacts and the pictures I had linked to said contacts, automatically into my phone. Especially because with the picasa face finding feature, that can then automatically add pictures to your gmail contacts, it just worked very easily.
However, I recently started using twitter and for some reason the phone decided to replace a lot of my contacts pictures with their twitter pictures, which in some cases is just the default blank twitter profile egg thing. This is very annoying and I can't seem to get it to go back to the gmail image, even if I'm not displaying twitter accounts in my contacts list.
Any suggestions?

Have you tried turning off the sync contacts setting in your Twitter account and resyncing your gmail one?
tried that, no good

[Q] Adding Facebook Account

Has anyone been able to add their facebook account by going to settings-accounts-facebook?
I installed the facebook app off the market, but when i went under settings it didn't give me the option to sync friends to contacts like it did on my droid.
So went to accounts, add facebook, entered my email, and password, but it wouldn't sign in
Kept giving me a server error, then about every third time it gives an error that says that something is wrong with the device clock and to contact the administrator.
Tried uninstalling the app to see if it was causing problems, but no luck. Anyone been able to sync facebook friends with contacts (its
mainly to get contact pics off facebook)
Thanks
Edit: Finally got it to work. Only took over a week
When you install Facebook, under the "My Accounts" app, you'll see two entries for Facebook. One is actually for your Facebook app, and one is for Moto's "Social Networking" app. Using the Moto-branded version may offer you additional features.
I've noticed a couple places where you get shafted by Moto software for not using their built-ins. Like the Car Dock front page only links to the Moto Music Player... which has no music because I stream from Google Music.
I believe since OS 2.3 (Gingerbread), the facebook sync with accounts option has been removed from Android.
Easy method, download (free) SyncMyPix from the Market, it will sync facebook pics with matching accounts on your phone into your actual Google Contacts.
I run it once and don't let it do it automatically, just run it whenever I add new contacts.
The sync facebook accounts worked fine on my original droid, its running cyangenmod 7 2.3.3. Thats why it was driving me nuts, could just set the sync settings from the facebook app. Figured it was some moto thing, but didn't know if it was specific to my phone or not.
Thanks

Thanks for the SyncMyPix suggestion!
Looks like the facebook app has removed the settings for syncing contacts. Tried using the Verizon "MyAccounts" app but definitely a little screwy.
fb contacts synced with no problems for me. I used the "social networking" app in the app drawer and entered in my fb info. contacts now have either gmail or fb photo as their contact photo.
I used one of the two in the My Accounts app, contacts synced just fine.
I don't love that when you sync with face book your gallery becomes less about you, and turns into a fb gallery...wish you could turn only that feature off...

[Q] Gmail App - Calendar Invites show as blank emails

I've read about this online but most of the posts are from two years ago. Is this still a problem? I got a calendar invite in my email today (which admittedly I don't get often) and on my phone, it just shows as a blank email sent to various people. No text about an event being on this date at this time, no attachments, no nothing. Just a blank email. When I log in to my Gmail on my computer, I see the event details just fine.
What am I missing here? Apparently my calendar is set to automatically add events from my Gmail to my calendar, but shouldn't it at least show that it was an event and was automatically added? I turned the setting off and it is still showing the event as blank as well.
I see the same on my X when sending myself invites from my work Iphone's Exchange account.
I've not found away around it.
I have the same issue. I really need this feature as I get multiple invites everyday. It seems to be an issue only with the new gmail android app. The invite shows up fine on gmail.com.

[Q] AOL email links not working in Gmail app

I hope this is the correct place to ask this. When I set up my AOL email in the now combined Gmail app I can check my mail without any problem but links in the email aren't working. They just show up as text. Any help would be appreciated.
Glad I'm not the only one who can't get it to work.
I think it is a generic problem with how gmail app reads non gmail emails, especially when sent on plain text, I get it when I read the XDA emails, which are sent to my imap account that I read in the gmail app
I forgot about this... I went to K9 mail and it seems to work well. Might be with a look.
True - I try lots of others, but keep going back to K9 - I don't want much in an email package - NON-threading, Alias support - ideally picking the ones up I have set up in gmail and IMAP support - and K9 does it.
