Hi friends. I have an XZ. I have recently created a second partition(ext2) on my memory card using the minitool partition wizard. After that,I inserted the SD card on my phone and opened the link2sd app.It prompted me to select a partition. I selected the ext2 partition that i have created before.after selecting the partition,it prompted me to reboot the device.but after rebooting,my device goes into bootloop. So i have to flash a new rom.again i tried mounting the ext2 partition and again into went into a bootloop after rebooting.i dont know what is causing the problem. a little help would be appreciated.
My os:kitkat(4.4.4)
Build number:10.5.1.A.0.292
Memory card:Sandisk(32GB)

hi everyone , friends i used Cyanogenmod 7 and i add ext2sd for it and everything was working perfect , after that i saw this ROM (RUU_Legend_Froyo_S_HTC_ARA_3.30.415.6_Radio_47.51.35.17_7.13.35.05_release_168871_signed.exe) and i download it and i rooted it and i add app2sd to it via the (dsixda's HTC Android Kitchen Version 0.157) after that i used the (GParted-Live-Version) to partition my SD card , i made it like this the first partition fat32 , the second partition ext2 , the third partition Linux swap , after that the phone started to reboot , i changed second partition to ext3 , the phone kept reboot , after that i changed second partition to ext4 the phone work but didn't recognize the SD ext partition and the internal memory size was the original one , is there something to solve this problem (like is there something i have to do to enable the app2sd or nothing) please ...
Greetings,
I have a Samsung Captivate with CyanogenMod 7.2 installed. As part of the CM 7.2, I also have Clockwork recovery installed.
Recently, I've begun getting various low internal storage warnings. Consequently, I've become very interested in installing the Link2SD app. However, for Link2SD to work, I need to create a new partition on the internal SD card. I've found 2 ways to create this new partition:
1) Use MiniTool Partition Wizard on my desktop PC. However, this method seems to not work with the Captivate because this method requires that the internal sdcard be removed from the phone and mounted in a PC card reader and the Captivate's internal sdcard is fixed and can't be removed. BTW, I tried to USB mount the internal sdcard by plugging in my phone, but the partition creation always failed.
2) The 2nd method is to use the ClockwordMod recovery to create the partition. I easily found this option under the "Advanced" option in the main recovery menu. I chose to create a 2 GB partition with 0 swap. The phone seems to create the partition (the messages on the screen and the recovery log), but after a reboot, there is no new partition. I've tried repeating these steps multiple times — still no partition.
So, is there some bug with Captivates and ClockworkMod recovery that renders the partition function in ClockworkMod Recovery non-functional?
Regards,
Jeff

I have a Motorola Milestone 1 (A853) with Open Recovery 1.46 on a 16GB card. I've been using this to try new roms for over 2 years now. Everything was fine until I tried to create an ext 2 partition using MiniTool Partition Wizard, but things went sideways. Needless to say I wiped the card, created a new 10GB Primary Partition on it and a 4 GB ext2 for further usage. Then, I restored backup items on the card (pictures etc.) plus a fresh new version of Open Recovery. Now, every time I am at the Recovery menu and try to apply sdcard:update.zip I get this message:
E:Can't open cache/recovery/command (<-- this is nothing new - seen it many times before but still able to boot into open recovery)
-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(Invalid argument)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Installation aborted
.. any ideas what to do?
It seems like your phone dont mount the sdcard properly.
Try out a 2ndboot OR. (there is one from kabaldan and one from FuFu)
get a proper sdcard, and unzip to the root OpenRecovery from this url: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1897048
And voila! :good:
Thanks for the assistance guys.
The card is fine, It is seen in Windows perfectly with the 2 new partitions, but the phone is not seeing it. I was following MrTapa's guide here before the trouble started: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1750888 . When the card worked before, it was formatted using NTFS and both Windows and the phone could see it. Now, the 10 GB partition is NTFS and it has the additional 4 GB ext2 partition. Windows sees it, the phone does not.
Does Skrilax_CZ's note have anything to do with it? "If file "/system/etc/install-recovery.sh" exists on your Milestone, delete it (prior to flashing the SBF)" <-- from http://modmymobile.com/forums/563-m.../531599-open-recovery-v1-46-11-21-2010-a.html

NTFS?
Replace it with FAT32. Then it should work.
In the link you provided check step 9 (though FAT32 should work fine even with 2GB cards)
Ok - so reformatted 10GB partition to Fat32 and loaded OpenRecovery again to root of sd card - same error. I might also mention that I tried Fat32 on another smaller (2GB) card with an ext2 partition and it gave the same error. I'm beginning to believe that this phone has a problem with multi-partition sd cards?
Just tried the original way - one partition using NTFS ... same error. Frustrating .. over 3 days on this now ...
NTFS and Android can not work.
Unless someone included ntfs-3g into the kernel - but that would be a madman's work...
Delete every partition off your sd card, boot up Android, it will prompt you to format it, do it.
Copy recovery (OpenRecovery directory + update.zip) to sd card, try booting to recovery.
If it works resize FAT partition created by android to make space for an ext partition, boot Android again to see if it's ok with the changes.
Solved - if anyone is trying create an additional ext2 partition remember that BOTH the FAT32 and EXT2 must be created as PRIMARY. The app I was using defaulted to logical ...
i was running my salsa rooted with CWR and data-2-sd_ext3 done exactly the same way as given in bigbear's noob guide everything was running smooth used it for almost 2 months, but yesterday when i started my device after it was powered off due to empty battery(nothing new happens to me all he time) it was stuck in a bootloop. so this what i did to get out off it
1 i went into recovery mode and tried to restart the device from there, but was stuck in the same bootloop
2 i had backups in my sd card so decided to do a restore, but during the tripple wipe in the wipe data/format there was some problem with mounting sd card so the commands came like error mounting sd card, skipping format, data wiped.i ignored and went forward to wipe cache and dalvic and both was successful. then when i selected restore in backup and restore menu it failed and the command came like E: cant mount /sd
3 after trying to restore a few times with no use i chose to reboot the device but when i rebooted from recovery it gave me the same bootloops(even after the triple wipes)
4 after that i removed the memory card out of the device and then powered on and it booted normally.i also have the superuser and the fb button which i revamped using button rewamper is doing what i made it to do (use as a power button).all my phone data is gone(i don't care)
Now i am confused as what should i do next
should i format the sd card and will the format also delete the partition which i made,if yes after the format when i will make the partition again and put the sd card again in the device will i have to flash the data-2-sd ext3 again (i think it should be there because the root and the F button rewamp is there(not the app but the function))
plzz guys help,i am confused

Try reflashing stock ROM with triple wipe
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
how can i flash ROM when there is a problem mounting sd card? and i wanted to know if someting wrong with the sd card can cause bootloops,as the phone booted fine without it. I think i will format the sd card make the partition again put it back in and flash data-2sd ext3 (which i am not sure off ),my questions are
1 will the sd card format remove the partition which i made earlier?
2 will i have to flash the data-2-sd ext3 again after popping in the sd card?
1.YES, if you format it would remove the EXT3 Partition
2.You would have to make FAT32 Primary Partition and EXT3 Primary Partition Secondary in Mini-tool
2.Yes, flash the script after setting up the partition
Done guys
did the sd card format using minitool partition wizard removed all the partitions, then made it again.then installed bussybox version 1.18,got the data-2-sd ext3 into the sd card flashed it using CWR,and rebooted using CWR and done.
srry BB i should have given it a shot before harassing you ,TY anyways:victory:
Lol I did kinda tell u but hey ho its done
BigBearEvo is using Xparent Tapatalk ICS on CM10
I'm running CM 7.2 and recently installed S2E (used Rom Manager to partition the SD card with an ext partion 512M). I tried installing an app a few days later, and the phone would just reboot. The "Applications" checkbox in the S2E settings was grayed out. So I went into the settings, unchecked the option to mount the sd-ext partition as ext4 and rebooted.
That's where the real trouble began, the phone rebooted and all apps were missing, almost as if I had just installed a fresh copy of CM7.2 on the phone. So I have two questions?
1) Should I attempt to repair the ext partition on the SD card, or is this even the problem?
2) If 1 isn't the issue, is there a config file for S2E somewhere that I can change the flag to force the sd-ext partition to boot as ext4 again?
Thanks for any help on this!
