I wasn't sure if this belonged in Q &A, since its not really "phone related", but its fine to move it if it should be there..
I know some of you have done this before, so I wanted to ask what is the best way..
Went to look at the S6 edge yesterday, and I really liked it.. Unfortunately, I have no jumps left until august, but my wife and son do. After talking to my wife, it looks like she will take my note 4, and I can use her jump to get an s6 edge, but not sure what's the best way to do it.
Should we just "pretend" like she is jumping to the S6 from her Lg G3, and after she has it for a day, call Tmobile, and tell them she hates it, and wants to switch phones with me, and take my note 4, and ask them to switch the phone numbers on their end? At that point, I will just wipe my note 4, which is rooted, and put what ever she wants on it for her, and also do a factory reset on her S6 edge, and set it up as my phone.
The note 4 and the S6 Edge have 2 different kinds of sim cards, so I can't just put my sim into her phone and use it that way, so the "switch" has to be done at the T Mobile end..
Is that the best way to do it? Will T Mobile refuse to switch numbers for us? Is there a better way?
Thanks for your suggestions!
I suggest honesty to tmobile and see what they will suggest...
Just go back into a store and ask for the corresponding Sims? That's what I do when switching phones on my lines

This. The carriers usually don't care who ends up with what phone long as they get the correct phone back and you get the new phone.

I did this twice already and they are cool about it. Just go into the store with her phone and JUMP to the new one, then swap SIMs. Being the S6 and Note 4 have different SIM sizes you will need swap that as well.
The JUMP is charged on the line but on it is actually tied to the Payment Plan/Device.
Thanks for the suggestions; I do want to be honest with them, and, I thought that would be the right, and easy thing to do, especially, since I go to my local store a lot, and am friends with all the workers there.
However, I went on Saturday, to look at the phone, and it looked like they had replaced everyone who worked there, and when I asked about just doing the sim switch, the guy working there looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language, telling me I had to pay off one of the phones we have in order to do this, and on and on..
Plus, I don't know if they will have a 64gig in black in store on April 10th, so I was assuming the best thing to do would be to order it online, and just return her G3 phone that way.
Can I just order on line, and when the phone comes, and I have to send it back, just send her G3 back to them, and then go in the store and do the sim swap as you guys suggest?
I should probably go to a different store now, since the one I usually go to is obviously not a "friendly" store any more..
Is there a charge to get the sim cards swapped out at the store?
thanks for the suggestions!:good:
You were correct in your thoughts, moved to Q&A
Do people forget how Jump works? You're forgetting the number one aspect of Jump (jump2), is the phone you're currently trying to jump from half paid off from the time you took out the EIP? Or have you been 6 months between jumps if you have Jump1?
If you meet any of those criteria then you shouldn't have any issues jumping.

I have jumped twice already in the past 13 months, so, for myself, I am not "qualified" for another jump for 5 more months..
different story for my wife and son, who have only jumped once in the last 13 months..
This has been confirmed by Tmobile to me..
you can only jump twice every 12 months; I am on the original jump..

I'll keep it short because I'm having too much fun with my new Galaxy Nexus. My Revo was having problems so I called Verizon yesterday to get it replaced (under warranty). They didn't have any Revos in the warehouse so she asked me what phone I wanted. I told her I wanted a Galaxy Nexus. She said it probably wouldn't be accepted because it is so much newer and more expensive than the Revo, but she went ahead and submitted it. 12 hours later FedEx shows up with my new (refurbished) Galaxy Nexus!
I've already got it unlocked, rooted, flashed, and overclocked. The dev community is amazing on this phone, and the Gummy Rom is amazing. I highly recommend this phone if you get the chance.
On a side note, my issue with the Revo was that it wasn't charging correctly. I thought it was a battery issue so I warrantied the battery and ordered a pair of extended batteries from eBay. Since that wasn't the issue and I no longer have a Revo, if anyone wants to buy any of my two stock batteries or two extended batteries with door, PM me.

BACK STORY:
Well, first I took it into a physical store and asked if there was anyway I could get a different phone instead of another Revo. He said their only option was if it was my third replacement but told me to try calling Verizon. When I called I told the lady everything I could think of to get her to send me a different phone. She told me her hands were tied and could only send me another Revo. I finally caved and told her to go ahead and process it. She then says, "Well, it looks like we don't have any Revolutions in the warehouse so we'll have to send you something else." She then began to read some options: Thunderbolt, Charge, Stratosphere, etc.
ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION:
I told her I really didn't want any of the options she listed and asked if there was any way I could get a Galaxy Nexus instead. She told me she is able to select it, but since it was so much newer and more expensive it would probably be declined. I told her I was willing to take the chance and to go ahead and process it. It obviously worked because I now have a Galaxy Nexus!
TL;DR
I said "Please submit the request for a Galaxy Nexus!"

2) My old razr did some thing like this, but I did not video it and well I could not do any thing with the phone so I had to leave it off and some how it just worked again. (I still have no idea what happened or WHY the bleep it messed up so badly for.)
3) How did you fix it or did it just do it?

Were you able to still use the phone?
Yea, Sucks.
Holy Cow Dude that looks terrible. I've not had an epic fail yet but I've overdone it recently. my Rooted HTC HD2 seems to have a habit of failing, freezing or rebooting right when I need it. I'm on my way home, i need to make multiple calls back to back and what happens friggin android phone freezes. I kill all tasks try to bring it back up, crashes again then instantly into a reboot.
LG Envy Touch.
Biggest piece of crap I have ever owned.
Complained so much to Verizon that two months after getting my upgrade, they let me get another two year upgrade price on a droid x and keep the envy. Lol. Sold it on Ebay for over $200.
Yea it sucked big time.
I had to deal with 3-4 phone reps and 4-5 store guy's before I got a new phone.
I will tell what they said:
1 phone rep said I needed to leave the phone off over night. ( Say what)
1 phone rep said I needed to clear all in all internet apps. ( So did not fix it)
2 store reps said I was being "slowed down for lot's of data use".
3 reps said it needed a fac reset. ( Did not fix it for long, came home and bam 600kbs)
Any way the new one is all good, but it was a pain becuase "it's the best phone they have". ( I am like I just want the thing to work right, telling me this crap does not make me feal better.)

Yeah it just requires a reboot but it happens every now and then not as often as the random reboots though
I think this phone or verizon is crap.
Well I should have not said all good with the new one, but a lot better so far. It has droped Data 2 times and fell back to 3G one time in the 2 days I have had it.
I don't know at this point if verizon is crap or the razrs are unstable. I know motorola is better than this so I think it's just the 4G LTE gsm and CDMA trying to work at the same time fail.
Edit: It's now doing it to. This is my 2nd phone and less than 3 days it start's pulling this crap.
Bigest phone fail us the Samsung intercept. It's the definition of crashes, freezes, slowness, freak outs, and miss sends and barely any apps work with it
Biggest fail for me was the Nokia N90.
Nice phone with nice camera features, but every now and then it drove me crazy with random resets or, sometimes, with unnoticed shut downs. It just resetted or shutted down in my pocket.

It was the stock launcher. I liked it too, so I used it.
My phone runs out of memory with 12 apps
OC'ed to 710MHz from 524, no GPU, can't upgrade
Bought brand new N6 from Google Play, open it and see scratches, a minor indentation and what looks like bubbling in the back cover of the phone. Called Google and spoke with a CSR and a manager, both say Google does not cover cosmetic damage they will only take the phone back and give a new one if there is something wrong with the functionality of the phone. Has anyone else been in this situation? What did you do?
I just spent $750 on what is suppose to be a premium device. Receiving it brand new from the factory with many significant cosmetic defects is unacceptable. How can Google not stand behind their product?

Just brick it then tell them it won't turn on.
Use social media to Tweeter and Facebook and you will see how quickly they will replace it for you.also, file complaint with BBB.

Call them back and tell them you are going to dispute the transaction with your credit card issuer. Also mention that you have already posted a warning online on places like XDA etc and tell them you are going to make a YouTube video that outlines the cosmetic flaws and your experience with the Google Play Store.
I just recently did this with something car related I bought that turned out to be in my opinion defective. I called customer support and recorded the call which is legal in most states and they were pretty much douches about my issue.
I told them if they didn't make it right I would post a review of their product and customer support on YouTube and do a charge back. The girl I spoke with basically told me to do what I had to do so I did. I called my card issuer and did a charge back under there customer satisfaction policy for internet purchases. I made a YouTube video outlining the product, the defect as I saw it and then gave a detailed accounting of my customer service experience WITH the call attached. I posted it on YouTube, put the link on several car forums and emailed the company the YouTube link and forum links. With 4 business days I received an email asking me to call a direct number which turned out to be a manager at the company who apologized and made it right with me. I left the video up but did update it to say they finally took care of me.
Side note, I got my money back from the card issuer the day I called AND the company sent me a new one and didn't even ask me to return the old one. They also never disputed my charge back oddly enough. It was a $1110.00 dollar electronic item for my Mitsubishi Lancer EVO.
It works 99% of the time.
Dispute the charges. They'll either replace it or you'll get your money back.

As most of you know, the U1 has no WiFi Calling or Visual Voicemail on AT&T. Neither Samsung nor AT&T will do ANYTHING to put the carrier specific features on the U1.
(Carriers should put these features on THE SIM CARD for UNLOCKED PHONES!!!)
Anyway, I figured I'd rather have the features than the silver hinge, so I requested a return/refund from Samsung and LOOK WHAT HAPPENS:
The Watch, Pods & Kevlar Kickstand cost me $727.34 !!!
I ordered a Black Fold2 from AT&T for $1999.99. Got the $15/mo insurance too.
Now... Obviously I'm NOT shipping the Black/Silver U1 back to Samsung! I can sell it for at least $1900. Their price is still $1999.99 but only if you finance it (0%) or $2799.99 if you don't - and no more bundle deals!
SO... The question is, if you were in my shoes, would you:
1) Keep the U1 because you're sure you'll have no problem flashing AT&T firmware onto it.
2) Keep the AT&T and live without the silver hinge, the ability to switch carriers and the other advantages of having the unlocked variant.
3) Get an S20 Plus or Note 20 instead.
4) Other idea.
I'm dumbfounded! Let's hear what you guys would do. Please.

1) Since they're all the same identical hardware, I'd only need to have AT&T unlock the IESN to have a U1 anyway.
2) I'm swapping main boards as soon as my right eyeball no longer has a gas bag in it from retinal reattachment surgery.
3) I'm using the AT&T "beast" as my DD already.

Oh yeah? Where did you find the magical, mystical, elusive AT&T firmware? Did it just float by you out there in space? Did a unicorn vomit it up on your doorstep?
Show me!
Relax brother, it'll come. Eventually firmware for all the US carriers will be readily available. AT&T is always the hardest to come by, but it'll happen. I went with a T-Mobile variant, as I am on t-mobile, and I'm not sure i even want to flash to the U1 this time around...I'll wait until there is an update that makes a meaningful impact.

Bro, since these Fold2's will never get BL unlocked w/out tripping Knox, any variant that's SIM unlocked is the same as any other, except for carrier specific features, which, as I've said before, SHOULD BE PROVIDED VIA THE G.D.F. SIM CARD!!! What a concept, huh?
Anyway, as I mentioned a couple of posts back, I'm swapping main boards as soon as I have two good eyes again. I'll have the only AT&T model# phone with a custom hinge on the planet. At least for a while.
You don't need an unlocked BL to flash carrier specific firmware, so not sure what that was addressing. Just saying ATT is the hardest firmware to come by, and AFAIK the only one that gates those carrier specific features to their specific firmware.

I know Odin. I'm not a dummy. I'm saying the hardware is all identical. So... Any SIM Unlocked F916 is a U1 or whatever firmware you flash it with. Also, they'll never be rooted, so WTF cares? And each carrier has their own VVM and WiFi Calling, etc., so, no, you can't use AT&T VVM on Verizon or Verizon WiFi Calling on TMobile, etc. .
Now, I have to say... As much as I miss Nandroid, Xposed (especially Gravity Box and SAAX) and TiBk, after a few days on the Fold2, my V20's seem SOOOOO D-A-M-N.... ..... S-L-O-W !!!!
But, they still do tons of stuff the Fold2 can't, so I'll still have one handy for those situations. 1 in the car, 1 in the SUV, 1 in the house.
Hey guys, first of, I want to thank you for reading the post.
So I've recently bought a new S21 Ultra from Korea, on the seller's page it was stated that it's unlocked. The issue I had when I received the phone is that it starts up with the carriers (SKT(Korea Telecomm)) splash screen, and what this means is that when I entered in. I was forced to install all of SKT apps. And I can't disable them or anything. And when I put in my local sim card to test it, I could call people and it was technically working fine. But when I was using mobile data. It only activates 3G/LTE, although my sim is 4G+ and I've been using it with my all phone all the time. I've also come to noticed that there is a SKT connection thing in my setting, and I noticed that my local sim card is actually classified as a overseas sim card. So it's as if the phone is thinking I'm mobile data roaming all the time. I need help with this, is there anyway to get rid of it? I've got a screen shot to explain what's happening.

I think so as well. Man....
No.. what are you talking bout? You didn’t buy it from Samsung? you’re phone is unlocked! How else are you able to make calls?? You would have no service and your phone would give a SIM card error if it was locked. You need to change your APN settings according to your carriers. Thats it you’ll have full speed internet after you change your APN settings, to your US carriers APN, it’s currently on the Korean carriers that’s why it’s showing as overseas. Google APN settings for your carrier.
Your splash screen will always show the Korean carrier cuz it’s their device originally, if you want to change it you have to root it first. Dudes splash says Samsung cuz his is factory unlocked, it never was locked to any carrier. He bought it from Samsung directly which is why there’s no carrier stuff anywhere.
Yo OP if someone says something weird you don’t have to agree with them, you should ask them to clarify instead, that way you can correct them if they’re wrong which in this case you missed, they pointed you in the wrong direction, which certainly didn’t help you. To an outsider like myself you both seem crazy, obviously y’all have no idea what y’all talkin bout and I know it didn’t get resolved cuz the only way is my solution.
Do you reside in Korea, if not why aquire the Korean variant? If you add up all the different S21 Models then factor in all the different Service Provider's it's over one-hundred different variants. That's pretty much on Samsung, no other device manufacturer has anywhere near this many variants, it's absolutely absurd! Anytime you install firmware that doesn't match your device’s Primary CSC you should expect conflicts. If there's any comfort in the fact that thousands if not millions of users are in the same boat as you. If you need full Call Feature Compatibility it's always best to aquire your Service Provider's device. A bit of research goes a long ways when it comes to Samsung's numerous offerings.
You have to change the APN to which ever carriers APN you are using... that simple.
If you don't know how to do so. Let me know
