Hi All,
I have a Spice MI 498 handset. I have unlocked boot loader, installed Philz recovery. For OTA update to 5.1, I had to go back to stock recovery as there was an error message when Philz was running. Once the update completes, my IMEI numbers disappeared and I was unable to recover it through any of the methods. As per another users experience, I did a factory reset and upon rebooting touch stops working. Has anybody faced this issue and what should be the approach that I need to take to resolve this issue?
Regards,
Ram

Factory reset usually doesn't work with problems like that. Flash the stock kitkat for your phone with SP Flash Tool (search the forum for a tutorial). That'll fix it. BTW. what OTA did you flash? (LMY47O. LMY47I etc.) I've flashed LMY47O OTA with TWRP recovery and it flashed without a problem. Did you wiped anything on your phone before or after flashing the OTA?

Hi,
I have LMYF7O installed via OTA method. I had not wiped anything on my phone before flashing the OTA. I managed to get back my phone working after I found out the reason for this missing touch. I just called my mobile number from another number and found that touch was actually working. So once that was done, I came out of the installer/registration mode and everything worked fine. Now getting all the data restored including sms, applications etc.
Thanks for the help.

Hi, I have a Moto X 2013 Developer Edition with bootlocker unlocked and stock rom with Android 4.4.4. It's root, has TWRP and SuperSU.
Since last week my phone is shutting down almost always after power on (only a few times it keeps power on for a few hours), and restarting in TWRP recovery mode.
Do you know what could be the cause of this boot loop?
I suspect it has something to do with the Lollipop Update to 5.1, cause I start getting this boot loop after the update option was shown in my phone (I didn't accept the update at first).
I tried installing again SuperSu (thinking that maybe root was disabled), but without luck. The phone continue with this boot loop.
I also tried installing now the Lollipop Update to see if that resolve the issue, unfortunately after the update is downloaded and I accept the install, the phone shutdown and it boots in TWRP again (so the updated doesn't install).
Hope my problem was explained well and anybody can help cause my phone is really unusable like this.
Thanks in advance!
You're only suppose to install stock ota's using stock recovery not custom recovery. It's best (if you can) flash back to stock if you know how.

can you please tell me how to flash stock recovery
Thanks for your response. Do you mean to flash stock recovery? or full stock rom?
Just in case, I don't need/want to install lollipop, only want to avoid this kind of boot loop and stay at 4.4.4. I'll only install 5.1 it if that fix the issue /but as I say I can't do it because after download and try to install, it power down the phone and goes to twrp recovery).
Thanks for your help!

It's best that you flash back to fully stock rom. If you can flash back to 4.4.4

What if they disabled the update app, wouldn't that stop the update from trying to install and cause it to reboot into twrp

Hi cdiamon, sorry asking again, but there is something I don't understand.
I have original stock rom 4.4.4. I only unlock bootloader (I have the developer edition), put twrp and root the phone. Why the suggestion is to flash back to 4.4.4 to resolve the issue? Didn't I'm already at stock rom?
By the way do you think the problem is because twrp and/or root by supersu? If yes, can't i simply uninstall supersu or remove twrp in some way?
B.E.McAllister and praty, thanks both for your answers, I'll look at them too.
Thanks in advance!

The problem is you have twrp on your phone when the phone is trying to update. You need to flash stock recovery then take update. Or keep twrp and disable update app.

Hi monkeytools. thanks for the explanation. I think I'll disable update app then.
Just to know, is there any way to uninstall TRWP without flashing stock recovery and loosing all of my configuration?
Thanks in advance!

You don't loose anything by flashing recovery. That is if you just flash recovery or fastboot recovery.
My phone is rooted running a stock 5.1 ROM.
I just got a prompt to install a system update with a security patch, etc so I clicked to install but it gets stuck in TWRP recovery instead of installing the update.
So now every time my phone boots up it restarts trying to install that update.
EDIT: Ok, after a couple reboots the update cancelled on its own. Now I'm wondering if there's any way I can still install this update without it getting stuck in TWRP.

In twrp erase cache. That will erase the update file that downloaded.

Thanks yep that's what I did so it boots fine again. I read in another thread some issues people are having with installing this update if their phone is rooted so I'm just gonna skip it. I've grown tired of all the hoop jumping Android requires.

If you have a custom recovery, you can flash this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/development/rom-xt1095-flashable-stock-rom-t3185945
It has the latest stagefright patch now, and it has OTA disabled to prevent bricking issues for people that have downgraded systems or systems that are modified with root/xposed/busybox/etc.
Before I do that, will I have to reinstall my apps or change all of the system settings again? Sorry, it's been a while since I flashed a ROM, I can't remember what's affected.
You shouldn't need to factory reset considering this is a stock rom and you are coming from the same android version. 5.1 to 5.1. But the fact that your phone had issues before may be an issue. You can try it without factory reset since it won't cause any damage to see if it works.
As far as what is modified, it should only be system apps. Anything you installed or configured should remain the same as long as you don't factory reset.

You have to go back to stock rom first to ensure you have system partition 100% stock. You can just flash the system.img and recovery.img, then apply the OTA. If you want to do it from twrp, you dont need flash the recovery.img and apply the zip file from romracer.

I had the same problem. I cleaned cache and was able boot properly. But now my phone asks me to update every 2 minutes and it is annoying the crap out of me. If I unroot and remove TWRP, will I be able to update to this OTA.
I had an unlocked EVA-L09C09 with B361 installed, I've installed TWRP and a few months later I've decided that I no longer want a locked device, so I've relocked, it restored factory data and now I can't turn on bluetooth and the phone missed a normal keyboard and other apps (like Camera).
After unlocking it again the problem still persists, how can I fix that?
TWRP cache/dalvik wipe doesn't help.
Also, does anyone have the EVA-L09C09B361 firmware? I can't find it using the firmware finder :/
Thanks.
Okay, I've found the firmware.
How do I flash it?
I have 2 zips: update_data_full_p4_pl.zip, update.zip.
I don't have the stock recovery, can I still flash them?

The solution to your problem here?
Hi,
I tried to update software via update.app from boot menu. Somethting goes wrong, phone was very hot and it self-reboot.
Now, phone has bootlop. Wipe, another flash from the same menu didn't help.
How I can make full clean instalation of software with blocked BL?
Regards,
Were you rooted or on twrp earlier?
Unfortunatelly both (twrp and root) was not made.
What was your build number when it was working or which update you recieved
I installed OTA-NEM-L21C432B132 update.
I am trying to install the latest Pie Update, but unable to do so, tried local upgrade/install from internal storage, recovery mode, and ADB Sideload, every time same error "Installation failed", I wiped data, erase everything, reset and wipe cache as well, no success. My device is not rooted, it is reset to Oreo Oxygen OS 5.02. Please help

maybe a bad/corrupted download
Same issue here, I am unable to update my phone
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I just got the same error too.
I also got a warning while i boot back to the old version.
System update failed
Update failed, tap to enter repair mode to try again.
guys, i had the same issue too.
Download the full rom via xda link, installation failed. Same goes for the OTA.
However, I managed to update to stock PIE.
My bootloader was unlocked when using stock OREO.
So what I did was, I RE-LOCKED the bootloader, and reboot the OP3T. (BE WARNED,IT RESET THE WHOLE PHONE)
After fresh installation, i was able to update to PIE via OTA. (Should work with local upgrade too)
So for my case, that helps.

Well I was upgraded to the pie with locked bootloader and after that, I had flashed official twrp and magisk but I flashed oreo rom to check if this problem is there when the bootloader is unlocked well yes the one plus detects that your bootloader is unlocked and doesn't deliver the ota so what you can do is click on download upgrade read carefully bro DOWNLOAD not INSTALL just DOWNLOAD it and then you will find it in .ota directory in File Manager now what you have to do is backup your all data via your prefered backup method from which you can restore things after the update I am going to give you a spoiler all data will be corrupted when you will flash the update file via twrp that's why the one plus package updater doesn't update and says installation failed... The pie update will be successfully installed but you have to factory reset your phone to use it that's why I told You to take a backup and after this restore your data...
***I have experienced all this by downgrading and then again upgrading with an unlocked bootloader so I would be honored if you thank me***
I was on stock Pie. I was facing some battery drain issue so I decided to install Oreo official stock which was already downloaded last month. I installed it through local upgrade and rom is still in internal memory. Now I am stuck in Recovery. It tries to boot but every time after few minutes it comes back to recovery. Please help me. It installs Oreo through recovery but unable to boot.
I think Pie can be installed through sideload but I could not find exact links for installation through sideload. Or if there is any option to copy Pie Rom in my internal memory to try installing back latest rom.
If anyone could help me It will be highly appreciated. My bootloader is still locked.
