VS980 Official 39A OTA rolling ota - Verizon LG G2

The official OTA is rolling out now to VS980 owners.

Anyone know if this is the same 39A that was flashable in early March? Ya know, the one that was buggy-as-all-get-out?

i'm pretty sure it is. buggy? i've found it mostly great. there are some oddities like not charging at the right rate that i don't like, but overall it's been fine.

root
Anyone try this and still retain root?

It doesn't matter whether you retain root, or not, 39A is rootable through a fairly simple process.

I couldn't get it to run on my rooted G2. I'm unrooting now and seeing if that works. (I remember a similar situation with the 4.4.2 upgrade)

It is 39 A
Got it this morning. 39A two part update process. So far, I'm loving it. I've thrown my G3 aside. The G2 always seemed to run better. And now the UI is like the G3, down to keyboard, i'm happy for now.

I took the OTA. Now it won't let me turn on wi-fi. I think it may be charging more slowly and running warm, but it's too soon to be sure about that.

Wiping user data fixed it for me back when 39A was first leaked (wiping cache, and dalvik-cache might be a good idea too).

is upgrade available via Verizon Upgrade Tool? Or does that come later? I can't check till I get home.

got anyone the 39A update via ota?

Is weather animation working on lock screen? I remember that with the leaked OTA it wasn't working

Weather animation was/is working fine with the leaked 39A OTA. Since VZW doesn't make any coding changes, and presumably they've reviewed the update for about a month...the leak, and official release are the exact same software.

That's worth a shot. Do I have to wipe in recovery? I'm not sure if I still have recovery after flashing a KDZ about a week ago. I only have about a week before I take delivery of a Motorola Droid Turbo, anyway.

I wiped my phone in recovery (volume down+power while booting). I don't think I have TWRP installed anymore, but I was able to wipe the phone. It's optimizing all the apps now, so it's too soon to say if I've got wi-fi back.

I don't know. I thought the 39A update comes from Verizon, so I don't know how that works when you're on a different network.

Update for Tmobile L90 (4.4.2 SWV10e)

I was wondering if anyone here updated their T-mobile L90 to the latest version. I just saw the update today and could not find any kind of changelog on T-mobile website so I would like to know if anything changed or if its just a bug fix. Also does doing this OTA update break root access?

Any official OTA update will break root. And it may be impossible to reroot afterwards. TowelRoot works for V10C for sure. PurpleDrake may be able to reroot.

This will definitely break root, and you won't be able to get it back unless you revert or figure out something that no one else has yet. I went back to version c. No changes were apparent otherwise.

It's said that PurpleDrake can root the devices that TowelRoot no longer works with.
Well no thanks to that stunt my mobile data wasn't working at all, had no choice but to wipe my system completely and send it to lg they already sending me back an another phone as we speak, now unless these roms are completely stable to the bone I'm not even going to waste my time with it(no disrepect to the developers but I got to stuff to do on my phone ), I'll just wait on the official android L update.

I upgraded since it looked as though the mod I did to use some USB OTG might work better with the LG update. I lost root, towelroot and Kingo root no longer work and this kinda sucks. I even tried some of the tips on this site to do an emergency reflash of the entire device and I can't even get that to work. The update didn't make the situation better for me.
I should have learned this long ago, just never upgrade until you're absolutely sure you can put it back the way it was. Even the revert software I had mysteriously is no longer on the device.
Next phone will be a gray market model for sure.
Have you tried the lg flash tool? It got me back on version c pretty easily:

Lol you are mean. Kdz files are pulled directly from lg when available.they contain the entire room as opposed to the contents of the ota we have available. Right now we don't have pulls off all the information we need to make a bootable rom due to the lack of root.

Update to lastest ota before converting to stock

Hi, my blu arrived today and i'm already planing on converting to stock. I read that the ota ver 6.4 enables some LTE bands... i probably won't ever use them, but its an adition so... i want to know if i can flash 6.5 (this is the lastest right now) and then flash stock... im affraid i might flash the amazon ota and loose the ability to go back to stock.. is it safe?

Not exactly sure what your asking??
I don't think that you understand the process. Removing the ads means reflashing the entire phone, so any updates that were installed would no longer be there as the images used to reflash do not include any updates.
There was one update that only the amazon version got to make it harder to disable the ads. Both versions of the phone got a July security update pushed but this only works on completely unmodified phones.
The much awaited band 12 update has NOT been released.
Either your source of information is suspect or you are not yet understanding the information. Read carefully in THIS forum to learn what's going on with this phone.

The non prime has not yet received any OTA, only the Prime variant. Non prime still on June security
That's not true. My phone is converted to non-Prime edition and I WAS offered the July security updates. I could not install them because I have twrp, root, and xposed but I was told that an update was available for the non-amazon version. The amazon version of the phone has had TWO updates - the first one to stop turning off the ad server and the second one with the July security updates.

Your the only one reporting it, that I can find. But hey if they released it great. But the only downloads for OTAs I can find are for the prime. If anyone has an OTA for non prime that updates it from 1.2 please post a link. @ColtonDRG is thinking of merging the July security updates to OEM, but if it's already been released via OTA, someone let him know!! I'm not trying to argue with you, it's just people are getting confused and frustrated already with the different flash methods etc... Don't get me wrong, I would be super stoked if BLU actually supported the non subsidized non prime variant.

Yay, someone else finally got it! No, jloh1963, it wasn't the anticipated band 12 voLTE update, it's just the July security updates. But no one can install it unless they are completely stock and few in this forum probably are.
Colton, it did attempt to apply the update after downloading it and prompting me and, as expected, the update failed. That's why I made that post a week or so ago asking where I might find the failed update. I wanted to save it. But I did a search on the phone and couldn't find anything that looked like it.

It is entirely possible that this FOTA program actually does know how to do gradual rollout like most other programs. I assume that's what's going on here.

I understand. Does anyone know how to capture OTA URLs? If so, can you PLEASE look for the update and capture the URL before applying it?

Also, can someone who already has the update please send us their custom build number? Please?

No, as long as the system, boot image, and recovery aren't altered. Re-run the conversion to make sure if you have any doubts

Yeah I did earlier today, reran conversion via spft and reset/wipe to factory. Ran update check but nothing, so I rooted/installed TWRP and restored my current config. I'll reset and let it sit for a day or two, perhaps its a gradual rollout. Will do my best to grab URL

Should I unlock the bootloader on my OnePlus3T in prep for custom ROM later?

Will unlocking the bootloader prevent OTA updates?
Honestly using CM14.1 on my OnePlus3 was a bug ridden nightmare recently.. I can't remember the last time I used a stable bug free release of CM on any device.. I'm thinking about just sticking to Oxygen OS but don't want to have to wipe the phone at a later date with a bootloader unlock..
Yeah, if you are going to be flashing roms and stuff you might as well unlock first since it wipes data.
Just did mine.
anyway to remove the flash warning screen on startup when bootloader is unlocked?

Could have been a fluke but my OTA update failed. I relocked, applied update, unlocked again. Each of these resets the settings an requires skipping through annoying welcome screens.
Anyone know if the oneplus 3 twrp will work on our device?

Doesn't appear to.
Can anyone guide me to the unlock guide which I can't find for some reason. Unless it's the same as the Op3 which I doubt but I might be wrong.
Thanks in advance

its the same as the OP3 and any nexus device... go into dev options, turn on the bootloader unlock option, turn on user debug, boot into fastboot, and use the fastboot commands etc etc
Flashed twrp and root already.

Wait till the official version is posted. Right now there are test versions floating around but some stuff needs to be fixed.

Hi all
If I root my OP3T now, can I still get the OTA update to Nougat 7.0 in December?

Best case: Yes
Most likely case: You'll have to wait a day or two until someone posts a link to a flashable zip on XDA. Check out this thread
Worst case: You'll have to re-lock, upgrade, then re-unlock

Anyone else not get Pie update on unlocked yet?

I'm reading everyone getting the pie update on the unlocked model but my device still has not got it yet. I'm on beta Pie right now.
Has anyone else not gotten the pie download yet on their unlocked device?
I'm unlocked and on the beta. Still no update here either
Got the update earlier today on my US unlocked Note 9
Yep. Beta hasn't gotten it yet.
Probably soon ish?

Someone on the other forum said if you roll back to Oreo and go on Samsung Switch you can download it. I'm NOT going to do that. Last time I rolled back it was a pain with my settings and other stuff all messed up. I guess I'll just wait and keep using Beta.

Damn, you guys making me jealous! I may just wait for a little. I cannot locate the odin file that people are referring to being uploaded here...
Edit: nevermind, I found the odin file. Downloading it now.
OTA is out now. Just updated my U1 via OTA.
Anyone has Call recording ability on US N960U1?
I got the U1 Pie update yesterday morning! Now I feel better.
Thx to this thread I knew to check and updated last night after backing up, so far so good. Timing seems to have worked out well as GoodLock updated last week so settings working as before. Agree the power icons are cartoonish, looked much better before. Why would they waste time changing them? Have used Nova Launcher for years so appearance and other icons are the same. Only real difference is phone dialer, and I preferred the previous version but this one works for now. Battery life seems to be about the same so far but will know better by the end of the day. Leaving off charger last night dropped 4% in 6 hours so no real change.

I went with Odin.. I wrote to Samsung and their last response was just an automated reponce "try to check manually" for updates, not actually reading what I wrote.. I was still on December security, no issues or data loss jumping to February's 9.0 update..
**edit**
Just received the March ota update...
