Hello, i have a doubt about the camera app that comes default with CM12 and others similar, i don't know how it is called but i wanted to know if is it possible to change the location folder on this app, i mean, use SD Card instead Internal Memory to save the photos, 'cause i can't find any option to make this. (Just in case, the app icon is attached on bottom page)
CM12 camera doesnt have the permission to write to External SD card. Use third-party camera apps like "A Better Camera" "Lenevo SnapIt Camera", these allow the pics to be saved on External SD card.

Why the hell won't my phone save my songs from Spotify, my photos from Vignette, videos from the camcorder, and anything other data the apps create??
Where the hell is the option to save on SD card?
Simmah down.
The actual SD card is mapped as /sdcard-ext/ in the filesystem. The /sdcard/ mount point is the internal storage. Apps need to be written so you can choose the storage location, and this will only be a larger problem going forward because as internal storage space goes up, more and more manufacturers will be doing this.
The built-in camera app does ask if you want to use the real SD card when you put one in and load the program.

Yeah, see I use Vignette so that doesn't help... geez.
Guess I'll have to make sure the main camera app is at least on SD card storage. I don't remember if the video files are automatically saving to the SD card (I did notice the SD-ext difference and figured that was the external vs internal memory).

If they're not being stored to the external on the stock app, boot the phone without the SD card in the phone, launch the camera app, then shut the phone down. Pop the SD card back in, boot up and launch the camera app again. It should say as soon as you launch that a new SD card is found and ask if you want to use it.
Going forward, /sdcard-ext/ is going to be more common on more phones, so app developers need to start providing an option for where users want to store data files. I'd contact the Vignette developers (they're pretty responsive) and let them know that they need to add a feature to choose the storage location of saved pics because most likely all Motorola devices will be set up this way going forward, with other manufacturers following.
Not much apps installed in my phone, but it keeps warning i am going to used up the internal memory. i can't use the APP2SD to move the app to SD card. any other solutions? thanks!!
Make sure you save the camera pictures to the card. Due to the camera button and quick launch i shoot a lot more with the ZR. This clogs the internal storage really fast.
Does anyone know whether it's possible to use the Google Plus Photos app with sync on the Z1 Sony stock firmware (I'm using 4.4.2)?
How it is supposed to behave:
- Edited photos replace the original, yet maintain the edit/meta-information to revert
- All changes, including deleting photos, sync across all devices
How it behaves for me:
- Editing a photo on the Z1 creates a new image, without the editing information, i.e. without being able to revert anything
- The original photo on the device does not get deleted when I delete it on another device or online

Hi!
Maybe it's a stuppid suggestion, but have you check the option "google+ photos" is activated in Settings > Google > "your gmail account" ???

Same here, found out it was because my pictures were on my SD card.
Are your pictures on an SD card? If so, move them to Internal Storage and see if the problem persists.
You should also run the SD card fix if the SD card issue was your problem.

thanks, I did save to SD card before but disabled it already. perhaps I try wiping the remaining photos from the card. can I ask what do you mean by SD card fix?
edit:
actually I just quickly wiped the phone to see if it's of any fix. unfortunately, it's not. the behaviour is really annoying:
- if I edit a pic in google plus online or another android device, the Z1 shows the edited version in the google photos app and the original version in the sony album app
- if I delete a picture in google plus online or via another android device, it will disappear in the google photos app on the Z1 but remain on the stock album app
- if I open a photo from the stock album app and select to edit it in the google photos app, there will be a copy of the original plus an edited copy in the stock album app, but only an edited version in the photos app.
so ultimately, making the sync/edit tools from google useless as it creates a mess, I used to edit my photos all the time on my N10 or online and everything was synced nicely. now the only non-messy option is doing _everything_ from within the sony app and also lose the option to change edits later on.
any help how to solve this appreciated. but I have a feeling that this is not possible on stock. anyone knows the behaviour on CM?
Ok...I migrated from the Samsung S5 to the Moto X4 Android One variant and am trying to get the external SD card to work like it did before. Previously, I was able to run multiple apps from the SD card and take pics which used the external SD card as the storage location.
Now on the Moto (running Oreo), that just isn't an option. None of the apps that are running allow me the move to the SD card via application manager (such as electro droid) and for the life of me, I can't find any settings in the camera app (Moto Camera 2) for anything including storage location. I can access the SD card fine via several file managers. Am I missing something?
I don't think you can put apps on the card, but you can set the camera to store pics and videos there. Swipe in from the left side of the viewfinder screen to bring out the settings menu. I don't know why they hid it like that.
Thank you, thank you! Just to recap so that the web crawlers can find this: To access Moto Camera 2 settings, swipe from left to right when in the app.
I tried hardly to set the external SD card as Whatsapp default memory for images, video on the Redmi Note 10Pro... With no success.
Tried from within the app and from the phone, no way. WhatsApp stuff will slowly eat the memory for no reason. I managed to set it as a default for the camera, but not for WhatsApp.
Anybody has a way or a workaround? Hints are highly appreciated.

Not allowed by WhatsApp when SD used as removable storage - I guess it's something to do with security ?
If you are rooted you can mount the internal Whatsapp folder to your sdcard. That way all data which is supposed to go into that folder on the internal storage is saved on the sdcard instead. But you would need to format it as f2fs, or ext2/3/4 for that to work. If you do that it will only be readable under linux. It wont work on Windows, or inside digital cameras, recorders, etc.

WhatsApp has implemented scoped storage https://developer.android.com/training/data-storage#scoped-storage, means you won't be able to store app data outside their own boundaries unless you use the sd card as adoptable storage https://source.android.com/devices/storage/adoptable
It's understandable why most flagship doesn't have any microsd anymore. To put it simply, it wasn't easy just to put apps data into a removable storage anymore, as we perceive removeable storage as, well, removable, while it's not anymore - it's part of your phone, to extend your phone internal storage. Losing it, accidentally breaking it, can cause data lost for some apps. For the sake of convenience, easier to use, and manufacture's benefits, it's more preferred to remove the microsd altogether instead.
i have root
is there no a module or app? there was app called "folder mount" it was working but android 12 not working more
