I had this problem with Overcome ROM which I solved with the help of this topic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25430786#post25430786
I recently installed kallt_kaffe's ported ROM and I'm having the same issue now.
Edit: You have to flash the UELA3 stock USA ROM on your device (even if you bought/use it in Europe) then flash CWM and install the ported ROM from there. Thanks for the advice from astuermer!
Same problem here, any solution?

I recently installed kallt_kaffe's ported ROM and I'm having the same issue now. First I thought it may be the cause of some hidden file or something on the device. I already had this problem with the Overcome ROM which was solved by flashing motley's latest 3.2 kernel.
So I completely gone to a stock 3.2 TW ROM (repartitioned, even) and tried reflashing with the latest compatible CWM but the problem persists :crying:

i haved a problem with youtube app, all 720p videos from there plays laggy on this ICS port =/
It seems u cooked the Tegra controller IC w/ OV. Tab 10.1 uses more voltage than 8.9, driver was uncorrect for 8.9. I saw same damage earlier with Sgs2 port to Sgs.
Sorry, but I have to say it is not repairable.

Thankfully, it's not true.
I found a solution in the dev forums and it works:
I've flashed XWKJ4 with ODIN before.
Now I've upgraded to this ICS-port v2 again - now I've also got this scrambled screen as soon as I turn off the screen.
Looks like it doesn't happen with UELA3 as base.

i am quite confsed..
i am a developer from htc wildfire s forum..
i have my brother owning galaxy note..
i flashed the CM10 (unofficial ) on my device he was quite impressed with the JB in such a low end phone.. (htc wildfire s is armv 6 with only 600 mhz with no support for hd gaming.. not even temple run works on it )
so he said me to root his device.. n flash the CM10 rom in it..
so as the guide said i rooted the phone..
(i also installed mobile odin n triangle away from market )
then i googled n realised there is something called binary counter..
n then i also realised that many users are having problem in flashing the CWM. (its kernel dependent i guess,, n i dont know which one to use.. i flashed the hydracore v3 kernel)
so i am likke WTF how to back up the rom?
N now if i want to flash a rom i can do it with odin.. but then how will i revert back to my ICS(the current rom ie the stock rom ,)
can plz someone answer to my questions...
LONG story in Short :
1) how to backup (without increasing the counter)
2)How to restore backup without getting the device bricked.
Root device and flash safe kernel(e.g.Hydracore) with Mobile odin
(2nd link on my signature, use method 1 to root, and use mobile odin to flash safe kernel)
After flashing safe kernel you will have CWM advance recovery, which have backup/restore function

Check rooting guide in Dr.Ketan's sig, you will find all methods to root there.
In method 1 you have to root first and then you can flash custom kernel using mobile odin or pc odin (flashing custom kernel will also install cwmr)
method 2 is flashing custom kernel using pc odin it will root and flash cwm recovery too.

Proly when those thread were created, there was no safe ICS custom kernel, now we have lots of them, You can use Hydracore kernel. So basically as long as you are on any safe kernel, you can restore and backup using cwmr without any danger of brick (provided that you follow correct procedure, lol)

It depends on your requirement, I have tried almost all custom roms available for Note from CheckROm (GB) to PA CM10 and they are are too good. But I always prefer stock rom for long run (again personal choice). As of now using stock LR6 with mods.

im really regreted to sold my hd2. Im really never expect hd2 will have changes to taste jelly bean. I thought it will be the end of story when ics landed for hd2.
Im really wonder hd2 are going taste window 8 as well.
Nothing is impossible for hd2....

Now up until two nights ago I was on jb slim bean ROM which was amazing...but I wanted to try jellybam so to be safe I flashed hydro core 3.5 and my note would not boot' just note logo screen so I went ahead and flashed v7 and it booted! Anyway I went right ahead after and flashed jellybam. Now after a day jellybam is just not for me'! To many options and I did not like a lot of things if honest so this brings me to try half illusion ROM so I thought OK let me flash hydro core again and once again no boot' I flashed like 5 hydro kernels and my note would not boot' it would only show note logo and then just be blank. I then had that "forbidden" kernel that's banned on here but it booted my phone. So everything is back to normal with jellybam again but I just want the half illusion rom now as the reviews have been great.
So can someone point me in the direction of the latest half illusion ROM ' not the link to the post but the actual latest one to download? Its just so annoying me as theirs so many with just titles and dates . Now since I'm on that forbidden kernel which is safe I hope lol I really cannot understand why hydro core does this on jellybam when u flash it? I just need to get out of this asap he he.
Appreciate all the help if possible. Thanks

The mistake u r doing is though you are flashing a safe kernel, HC, you should reboot in recovery ( see in advanced in CWM) and flash your ROM of choice.
Can't understand why you are trying to reboot the phone with a non compatible kernel versions.
As others have already commented 'confusion' should be your nick name.

Hi, Fist Im noob in this Android business so be gentle
First my ROM is Xenon HD v6.9 and I flashed my LG Optimus 4X HD International Edition with iodakX3_v06.zip kernel. Now the phone is on boot-loop. Have tried to clear cache and even factory reset and still the loop.
Could I flash the stock kernel back? If so...how could I do it. Have tried to find the stock kernel for the phone but haven't found it yet.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!!!
EDIT: Restored a full Nandroid backup I did prior and everything is all right. ¿Did I restore the stock kernel also?

Yeah It booted without problems. Just try the version 6.9 cause all the posterior releases cause a bootloop.
here is the link:
h**p://goo.im/devs/demetris/OptimusX4HD/XenonHD/XenonHD-19-06-13-signed-p880.zip
I must say that for me its one of the best ROMs the LG. The performance is smooth and the UI is the best looking. Also it includes almost all the goodies for 4.2.2 (halo, pie, toggles, etc. )I find the phone almost perfect except battery. That was the reason for the flash of the iodak kernel but after it the phone doesn't post.
Still Ill like to know if I restore a full nandroid backup prior to the flash of the Kernel I go back to the stock Kernel?

If you have followed the instructions correctly then the most common problem is that you are not on eclair(2.1), but donut(1.6). Go to settings>about (or "about phone") and see the "baseband". If it doesn't end in 015 (xxx015) then that's what causing the problem.
Follow this guide to get to eclair (2.1) and try one more time to flash a custom rom, hopefully this time it will work:fingers-crossed:.
No i have 2.1 and the latest firmware, baseband etc...i want to try to flash nAa kernel for this rom but i am scared for another brick...can anyone tell me how to do this step by step?

Yeah, that's normal, custom kernels don't work with stock rom.
Don't let the phone to start.
Boot into CWM (while on kernel logo hit the back button repeatedly) and install the rom. Also make sure to full-wipe, follow the installation instructions.
yes but if i dont see any logo? If i only see black screen?

Mate, you are contradicting yourself.
At first you mentioned that you had soft-brick while flashing the rom, then you mentioned that you had problems while flashing the kernel.
At first you mentioned that you had stuck at the logo, then that you don't see the logo.
Lets make things clear, have you followed the installation instructions?
What have you done exactly and were is your problem?
Have you ever booted on CWM?
If you read my first post again then you will find a guide about how to revive your x8 from soft brick, use it.
Look...i have tried 4 times...i only stuck at the kernel flashing...1 time with freexperia kernel i stuck on logo of fxp kernel...the other times with other kernels (i think alf and nAa (the wrong)) i only see black screen and vibration...i know how to revcover my phone...i flash mother rom with flashtool...i use only cwm...i know this things

If you mean the one that you can download from cm site then I think its better to consider flashing another cm7-based rom as there are better options.(like gingerdx, minicm, etc)
If I remember correctly this rom needs the FXP kernel.
Is this rom better with the nAa kernel? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1456389

Generally speaking, you will find this info at the first post of the rom's thread you want to flash.
Typical procedure for cm7 based roms is the following:
flash kernel(if the rom requires stock kernel you just skip this step, in other cases you flash the kernel that the rom works with)
boot into cwm
full-wipe(factory reset, wipe dalvik cache)(no need to wipe battery stats unless you have a problem with the battery percentage)
flash rom
(optional)flash gapps
first boot may take up to 2 minutes...
Ok..thanks... have you any suggestions for me but for roms with stock kernel...
