Downloaded. Will test out soon. Can't believe there's anyone out there building ROMs for these great old phones!

I'll be trying to use this ROM as my daily driver for a few days, I'll let you know about any bugs I find.

Good job,thanks

New builds?
Hi All,
I've been lurking here for a year or so, but now I need to go legit.
My background: Windows developer, plenty of SQL. Lots of fun messing around with Arduino platform. Very little *nix, no Android dev experience. Sometimes feel I'm a decent programmer...
I've tried CM12.1, RR and SOKP on my Bionic. SOKP is noticeably smoother than CM. Couldn't get past a boot loop with RR, so no comparison available.
It's been about a month since the SOKP Targa build. Will there be another? Where should I be looking? I tried my Google-Fu for this, with no luck...
Thanks!

adb, 4GLTE, and Wifi ?s
Hi all!
Thanks for a great LolliPop 5.1 ROM for the old Bionic... I have been using it for about 6 weeks, and have a few questions and concerns - perhaps someone can offer guidance.
My config:
- Bionic (XT875) Rooted w/ RazrsEdgeRoot.
- Connected to Verizon wireless using BYOP StraightTalk sim card. (MUCH less $$$, still great connectivity)
- SafeStrap 3.75 w/ integrated Recovery TWRP 2.7.1.0
ROMS
- Stock - Original Verizon 6.7.246.XT875 (Android 4.0.4)
- Slot 1 - SOKP 5.1 LP
My ultimate interest is to get rid of the Stock ROM and only have SOKP 5.1 on the phone for max memory capability, but I have the following concerns:
Connecting to PC
- Using USB cable w/ Stock ROM, PC sees phone as "Removable disk drives". SOKP connection shows "device" with "internal storage" and "SD card". Where can I set SOKP to use USB Storage vs. MTP?
- 'adb devices' on my USB-cable-connected PC can see the phone when booting Stock ROM, but shows no devices when booting SOKP ROM.
- I have tried all types of combinations of "reboot PC/phone" and "connect to different USB slots on PC with different cables", always with the same results.
- I am concerned about getting access to the phone when adb wont see it for future playing.
Cell Network connection
I get 4GLTE connection using Stock ROM, but only get 3G connection w/ SOKP ROM.
- Entering *#*#info#*#*, Phone info in Stock shows Network Type "LTE:14", and Preferred Network Type "LTE/CDMA/EvDo"
- Entering *#*#info#*#*, Phone info in SOKP shows Network Type "eHRPD", and Preferred Network Type "LTE/GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)"
- No LTE/CDMA/EvDo Network Type available in SOKP.
- How can I see what APN is being used?
- Any setting considerations?
WiFi networks
Stock ROM stores and recalls wifi network information for auto connection. SOKP sees the networks, but doesn't store info. I have to put in the network password each time I connect.
Thanks again for a great ROM and for taking a minute w/ my requests. Any help is sincerely appreciated.
Rowdy "...while helpin' the old stuff keep workin' with the new stuff..." Bob

Will NANDROID data backups from ResurrectionRemix work with this ROM?, also In apps like Google Play Music there isn't an option to store music on the external sd card. And moving apps to sd doesn't work either. please fix this

Welcome to CMB Roms- CM done Better... Dark Themed for his/her Pleasure
Why CMB?
We are just better , in a nutshell we set out to give you the best of CM, with none of the annoying features (see list below), all this wrapped in a custom black theme. We used the KISS principal when deciding what to offer, we based our frameworks on CM alone (not FrankFrameworks like some others out there), enabling us to provide updates and bug fixes as soon as CM does. This doesn't mean we are only relying on them for development, it just eases merging.
Features
Based on Android 4.3_r3.1, CM10.2
All current features CM10.2
Dark Holo Theme, with drawables from TeamBaked)
Dark Mms app (thanks to my mates at TeamBaked for the start)
Dark Calendar
Dark Contacts
Ramdisk security tweaks, you can adb as root now!
Bash "tab to complete" now works
Remount helper, in adb shell
Old
Code:
mount -o rw,remount /system
New
Code:
remount /system
Better Right??
We plan to add more features, suggestions are welcome (but sometimes ignored )

you will NOT have root out of the box, CM has made it an optional thing, to enable root do the following:
Enable Developer options, on the About Tablet Screen, tap the Build number 8x
Next Go to Developer options
Then under Root Access, choose "Apps and ADB"

I want something relatively stable and a simple upgrade when a new realese comes out.
Is this the way to go?
Thanks
Great rom but no root?
Hi
Thanks for this great rom, clean and simple
However, I installed titanium backup and it complains about root.
Usually it pops up asking for permission when uing root apps, but not in this rom.
I installed super su, but still no access.

Is there a mirror for Pollux Windy because it's only downloading at about 7KB/s... It's well over half done but still says it has another 3hrs to go...
This is my third attempt to get the file because it has dropped out twice already...
I finally got this installed.
Very very nice ROM... except for 2 things.
Am I missing something? I installed GApps at the same time but there is no email app.
and... is anyone else getting screen flicker when using the keyboard on Chrome???
Does camera, video record and viper4android iWork?

Take care about what bootloader you are using, this ROM is only for the new bootloader.
Always create a backup before flashing, to have a rescue option when something bad happen.
IMPORTANT NOTE before installing
Create a backup of your existing rom.
You can't go back by just flashing over an older android version.

OTA can be found here: Settings -> About Phone -> System Updates
If you are using "SlimKat 4.4.4 (build 6.9 - 20140729-2210)" and you like to use OpenDelta OTA, you have to replace the apk.
I had an error inside the OpenDelta config, so the included app wont finde any updates (This is fixed in later releases).
To replace you will need to use adb and replace the apk (apk can be found at the end of the thread). Therefore open comand window and type:
- adb root
- adb remount
- adb push OpenDelta.apk system/priv-app/
How to change filesystem to f2fs?
Since 8.4 this rom uses f2fs as filesystem for system and data partition.
Here is how to change the file system:
- Use the latest twrp recovery with f2fs support form here.
- Boot into Recovery
- Select Wipe (1)
- Choose Advanced Wipe (2)
- Choose system and data (only one at a time) and than select Repait or Change File System (3)
- Select Change File System (4)
- Select F2FS (5)

Test to install with full wipe and with none-neon gapps and found first boot take a little bit longer time and got many error about setting can't do any thing so decide to make new install with slim gapps YES i can pass to use the phone like normal rom :good: BUT now switch back to JB because
-WIFI not work as said at OP but I need wifi.
-InternalSD not mount and error notification said blank sdcard or unsupport BUT external sdcard can use via /storage/sdacrd1 so /dtorage/sdcard0 unuseable.
-Camera and gallery force close I think because of not detect internalSD.
-random reboot BUT it very fast to back to lockscreen.
hope WIFI work next version and will test again.

I am trying to fix wifi next.
Than internal sd-card will follow. I think I know what needs to be changed. Now that the phone boots again, I can do something.
On LG E610 L5 there have also been reported some issues regarding wifi, not sure if the same as here, but on L5 the issue are related to wifi cryptation where wep and wpa2 works, but not uncrypted......just wanted to mention just in case. @PecanCM works on it.

Thanks, I will take a look at it.
I know the people from PecanCM, so if its the same problem it should be easy to ask them for help.
wow respect @DJNoXD i tested it and it's very smooth and i've ca. 230MB of RAM free to use (after clean install)
hope it will be stable soon
Just a wifi question, are the issue related to wpa? By that I don't mean wpa2. Just wanna know because on LG-E610(L5) there is no problem with wpa2 and wep.

Twrp recovery
This is TWRP recovery with the new UI from Omni Sources. Be sure to thank those from the omni team for their sources as well. m7spr_TWRP_2.8.7.0
You can download this straight to your device and boot into your current twrp recovery & flash it. First you must select to install images on the lower right corner of twrp.
ISSUES
I do not have my m7 activated on any networks currently so you tell me the things which don't work that I cannot test.
At this point I'm aware of the camera crashing and it has a red tint & sometimes purple.
Great to see this Dev again, really appreciated your other Roms; Candy5 is my daily driver.
(I do not have this phone connected so I can't test data)
Glad to see this up and running, I've downloaded it and flashed it with no problems (I flashed 6.0 Open Gapps 1/26, SU 2.57 and Xposed v79 with TWRP 2.8.7.0). I'm happy to report that all the settings worked with no problems or FCs system wise except FM Radio (Happens on all MM Roms for M7SPR like Vanir 6.0).
All kernel settings are there and I didn't get any random boots. Sound worked for me with no problem and no G-services random stops. Camera has its disconnecting (as stated) but was able to record a short video of ten seconds (didn't test any longer).
I would stay on this rom but it has the infamous Facebook/Messenger MM Custom Rom FC which isn't a huge problem for people who don't use it. :silly:
Thanks for this Rom, I can't wait to see future updates to test out :good:

Who is your cell provider? I thought the RIL was working for sprint as stated from a tester but that could be wrong.
I'm a Sprint customer. I was able once to play around with my cellular settings and get it to work but after a reboot I couldn't get it to work again.

To everyone,
Remember what the point of this site - and especially a development thread - is (hint: it's not "I can haz super cool phone"). Developers take a ROM base of some sort and spend their personal time and effort to get it working on a certain device and carrier. The job of the rest of us is to help by being beta testers and posting logs of issues so the ROM can get better. Most ROMs start out with bugs and lags initially, especially ROMs not based on stock, but they usually get figured out in time. If you can help, great; if not, run something more stable like stock (there's no shame in that), but please do not discourage developers.
Thanks,

Just wanted to add a +1 to the cellular service issue, I'm on radio 1.01.20.1225 which I believe is the one from the most recent firmware but it's certainly possible that I missed an update. When I went to cellular service in settings I got an error when it tried to search for cellular networks and at one point the settings force-closed.
Other than that the ROM seemed solid and I was looking forward to using it, data was good and connected reliably, no noticeable lag other than what you would normally expect from a fresh install.
Thanks to the dev for trying to bring us Marshmallow, hiccups are to be expected and I will be following this thread closely.

The baseband for the latest firmware reading it from your device would be "1.02.20.0922" You can find the firmware from @OMJ in the development threads here. Also I'll be uploading a Cyanogenmod 13 rom for you all to test cellular service soon.
EDIT: And here is an unofficial cm-13.0 for testing the ril, cellular data. Let me know what you find?
You can use opengapps, banks, or whatever you prefer for 6.0.
Great ROM! Running well, except for auto-rotate seems to be broken.

Hello.
First, thank you very much. It is working really fine.
But I have a problem, I can not receive calls. I can make calls, but when someone calls my number, my phone does nothing. It is working with cm11. I've tried several sim cards, from different companies, none worked. I've looked for usual solutions, but no luck.
It is a shame, becasuuse this is working much better tahn cm11. Do you think there is something I can do?
Thanks again.

This is really AWESOME work Shadow Of Leaf! Many thanks for this great mini 2 Omnirom 4.4.4. :good:
I didn't know that you are still developing for the mini 2. I have discovered this latest KitKat rom just some time ago. It works in almost every regard better then all the previous CM11 builds. It is again somewhat more fluent (speedy) and is out of mine view less laggy when comparing with the previous builds.
However, - as already mentioned there is only one grave issue present. I also don't receive any calls.
I think the problem is located in the mobile network setting or a different mobile network driver. As network type UMTS is showed, - all the previous KitKat builds showed (in my case) HSPA or something else but never UMTS. I tried to enforce "2G/3G Preferred" and "2G/3G Auto" but they wouldn't be accepted. It was possible to set the Network to "3G Only" and "2G Only" but the call receiving still doesen't work.
Furthermore when I make a call and want to hang it up, - I can push the red hang up tab but the call will not be terminated. So the call is still open but it is not visible (at the phone) that the call is still active.
As mentioned in some other threads, - my mini 2 has baseband version S6500XXMD1.
Whatever, - you may fix this in a future update. It would be great if you can include one brighter background file, - the two standard one are quite some dark.
Yes, and yours TWRP 3.0.2.0 works absolutely stable. Much better than the previous TWRP version.
Will send you for all this work a litte donation. Kind regards,

Hello
Thanks for your amazing work
i upload a new version that possibly fix call hang problem so test and report
and about ART problems i think the GAPPS is the issue so i left a ART supported GAPPS in the changelog
Many thanks @Shadow Of Leaf for that new release. :good:
Unfortunately the link regarding the new build seems not correct, it points to the previous "omni-4.4.4-20180817-jena-HOMEMADE" release. Also the internal build date seems the same. Or has the new build the same name like the old one?
If yes then it would make sense to add a V2 to the filename.

You Welcome
yes the name and build of V1 and V2 are the Same because i didn't build a new one
it is the old version with bugs fixed (i think)
you try it ???
Hi there Shadow Of Leaf
Thanks for the fast replay. Unfortunately the "hang on" issue is still the same like on the V1 build. It is not possible to hang up the call, - it stays open in the background.
The overall performance is really nice for that old phone hardware, - especially when the ART runtime is used. It feels a little bit better then CM11. And with Open Launcher v37 (v40 runs less fluid) the phone UI is looking more modern. Because of the smaller screen size, Open Launcher has to be adjusted somewhat. For everyone who want's to try it, I have uploaded in the attachment a v37 mini 2 config file. (I get the Open Launcher package from that side: https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.benny.openlauncher/)
Unfortunately Android ART works only stable with certain really old GAPPS packages. The problems starts when these are updated automatically, the Google Apps stop working and are crashing randomly. I hoped that this problem is CM11 related, but Omni ROM 4.4.4 has the same issues. So this is most likely a fundamental problem of KitKat. It seems that Google has not designed the newer GAPPS packages Android "KitKat ART" compliant. In conjunction with ART, they may work properly only on "Lollipop ART" and above.
However, if I remember me right, I have read sometime something about these KitKat ART limitations. That may be a strange idea, but is it possible to "back-port" certain portions of Lollipop ART, like in the ART dex2oat tool, into KitKat? https://source.android.com/devices/tech/dalvik Well, maybe it's possible but the effort would be far too big...
Kind regards
lorn10
Here follows a short addition, - I have found an interesting XDA topic regarding KitKat ART vs. Lollipop ART. There is discussed the theoretical possibility to use the Lollipop "libart.so" in KitKat: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/using-libart-android-l-kitkat-t2805745
Well, as assumed by me, this will be a BIG project. It's not so simple how it looks, the KitKat "libart.so" can't be just replaced with the Lollipop version. This concept to backport certain portions of a newer ART runtime back to KitKat is more a theoretical possibility, - not practical. A Backport of a "Android Go" version for the mini 2 would be more realistic then that...

sorry for the bad news
i think that i fix the hang on call bug but it seems sophisticated one
i will try to to build a new version for s6500 and for s6500d also ( i don't how im gonna test it out, cause my sim card place in the phone seems to be broken)
for the ART i think in kitkat is just a preview for developers to test it out , not like lollipop is seems stable to use it
for the theory i think its possible but it need a lot of work and could not work (lollipop and kitkat are not alike so it well be a miracle if it work)
years late. but ... I have the S6500T version, all rom that I install fails to start
the apps are updated, but when it reaches the home screen the message "shutting down" appears even though the rom has started normally

GSI Functionality List for cebu

WARNING: You must have an unlocked bootloader to boot GSIs.
WARNING 2: Flashing GSIs wipes internal storage: Back Up Your Files.
Note about GSIs: this is my first time flashing GSIs, but from what I've read, bugs and incompatibilities are common because, although they are made to work on all devices, they can't possibly be tested on all devices. So please don't make judgments about the stability of a ROM as a whole based on the functionality of a GSI on any particular device.
Contributors:
@arkansawdave74
I'm trying GSIs on my cebu until I find one without a dealbreaker. I'll list the ones I try and list the bugs I found to make it easier for others to decide which to try. If anyone else tries any, you're welcome to post your findings in the comments section and I'll add your work and findings to the OP as soon as I see it and have time. I'll also add your name to the OP as a contributor. I'm not testing everything on every ROM. I'm testing until I find a dealbreaker (for me) and then moving on. I'll include a link to each and try to link before the actual download as respect to the dev who built it, and therefore also name the specific file I tested. Thanks to all who help. I'll be using this list for starters, and if from this list, I may not link but I'll always name the file I tested.

If there are any questions, ask, but I likely can't help with Windows as much as with Linux, and I've never used a Mac.
FIRST THINGS FOR A BETTER CHANCE AT A GOOD EXPERIENCE:
1 Be sure to be ready to flash back to stock if needed; ie. have a stock download ready to use and know how to use it. I use the method here:
Fastboot Flash Stock Firmware Commands
For Linux, Mac, or Windows users with fastboot installed, those who have need of flashing an individual partition, those for whom Moto Flash Tool fails, those who'd rather use fastboot, etc...here are the fastboot commands translated from the...
forum.xda-developers.com
2. When some GSIs are first booted on the cebu, you will have no data connection and will have to switch the Preferred network type to LTE (or whatever type of data you use) and create an APN configuration, so look at your current APN configuration. I screenshot mine and move the screenshots to external storage (external sd card) because internal storage will be wiped and formatted. You can also google search your carrier's recommended APN settings. Both settings can be found in Settings > Network and Internet > Mobile Network.
3. For proper calling and text messaging you must configure volte. Open Settings > Phh Treble Settings > IMS Features and check both Request IMS Network, and Force the presence of 4G Calling, then tap Install IMS APK for Qualcomm Vendor. That SHOULD fix up calls and text messages. If not, you may look for a VOLTE switch in Mobile Network Settings.
4. I'm currently learning to make an overlay with a proper front camera cutout. Fortunately Linux is the required OS to do it.
EDIT: I've made us an overlay, but it's still untested. I plan to test it very soon, but I'm not the only one who can test it, so I will share it now. The instructions say to copy the file to /system/overlay/ , but I think it may be a mistake. It may need to be copied to /vendor/overlay/ instead. Reboot. To test, see if the camera cutout is correct. If not, see if any of the options for camera cutout in Deveoper Options are now correct.

Flashing:
Here are the commands I'm using to flash. You'll have to navigate your terminal and path to your files yourself though.
I'm using a vbmeta.img file from a lolinet Android 10 cebu firmware.
First, install a fresh stock rom using your preferred method and do the setup to reach the homescreen then reboot to the bootloader.
fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
fastboot reboot fastboot
fastboot erase system
### note whether a or b and insert at end of next command (eg. product_a)
fastboot delete-logical-partition product_
fastboot flash system [insert /path/to/system.img here without brackets]
fastboot reboot recovery
### In recovery do factory reset, then reboot system
ROMs Tested:
1. BlissRoms Official Android 11
maintainer: eremitein
file: bless-v306-210502-arm64-bgZ.img.xz
Bugs found:
1. (Dealbreaker) cannot make calls with phone app, but can receive them.
Bliss is a top-notch rom and textnow is working for anyone with a wifi
only cebu or anyone who can get by with using textnow for calls.
Bliss is worth further testing.
2. dotOS Official Android 11
maintainer: Community
file: dotOS-R-v5.2-arm64-ab-vndklite-GAPPS-OFFICIAL.img.xz
Bugs found:
a. (fixed) Can't receive messages FIX: must enable chat features to receive text messages
b. Dealbreaker for me: No red accent color. Only soft pastel colors. Some theming section color choices are all greyed out, though, so there's some incompatabilty going on with the theming . Nice smooth rom though. This ROM is suitable for daily use. It works well besides some customization options. A pleasant and unique ROM.
3. Descendant 11.5 Official Android 11
maintainer: Dil3mm4
File:. descendant_gsi_arm64ab_vndklite_rw-XI-20210115-Official.zip
Bugs found:
a. The Settings button in the drop-down menu doesn't work. Can still reach settings from app drawer.
b. (Dealbreaker) Will not connect to bluetooth devices. I didn't look for a fix, but I tried the bluetooth fixes in Phh Settings > Misc.
This one is working very well on the Cebu. Mine had a T-mobile APN set up out the box. I didn't spend enough time trying Settings in this one. I thought I would stay on it until I found the bluetooth bug.

This one wouldn't boot. Possibly user error. I plan to try it again. RR is probably my favorite. Can't even find a RR-R GSI. Seems to me devs should try to make an Official GSI as their flagship, and all work together to maintain it and make it as compatable as possible. RR must not agree.
