I'm using a magnetic adapter for my charging cable, but the phone detects it as a dock, and turns on autorotation even when it's turned off. Is there a way to get rid of dock mode?

There is an xposed module Disable Desk Dock for your problem.

I don't have a desk clock set up so there's nothing top disable. I just need to disable autorotation when I connect the magnetic charger.
I'm on Lollipop, so Xposed is not an option.

In my case, I install the app "screen off and lock" from playstore, activate it correctly. Then when you conmect your magnetic cable, there will be the pop up asking you want to use the daydream (dock mode) or screen off and lock. Choose nothing, then use your phone normally.
If you can find the other app can interphere the default off the day dream app, it would have the same result.

Can you double check the screen rotation after you plug in the cable? Can you actually disable it?

everytime I connect the magnetic cable there will be the pop-up menu asking me to choose dreamday or screen-off-and-lock.
I just click the empty space and use my phone normally

It asks and i can continue using phone but the phone still rotates even though its set to portrait. It doesn't solve the problem of putting the phone in forced auto-rotate mode when connecting with magnetic charger of any kind.

Sorry to reply to this older thread - but maybe still interesting for some.
And yes - I kown there are some Xposed modules for it. But some do not what to run Xposed at all or keep the modules as low as possible.
Decompile: /system/framework/framework-res.apk
And open following file with Notepad++
\res\values\bools.xml
and change
<bool name="config_deskDockEnablesAccelerometer">true</bool>
to
<bool name="config_deskDockEnablesAccelerometer">false</bool>
recompile and replace the original by the modded one...
Please note:
This is only to show were to change it! Please do not ask "how to de- or recomplile" here...
Use google to find out if you are not able to do it.

Hello I realized that the phone backlight stays on and does not go sleep when ICS is in use. How do i make the backlight shutoff while keeping ICS in use. I wanted to know this to save battery life? Thanks
Umm, have you tried pressing the power/suspend button? ;-)
If that doesn't work, you'll need a 3rd party app, like Pocket Plus, that provides such functionality...
power/suspend button doesn't work, it just disconnects ICS. Is there another way of doing this without downloading pocket plus? Reg edit or something?
does anyone know a solution to this?
flip the phone over?
to save battery; dont' u just hate a smart kid
errr, it's usually plugged in if yer doing that. if by smart you mean intelligent, then yes.
Well if im tethering ICS using wifi or bluetooth then it wont be plugged in, the backlight stays on and kills more battery.
right, that's why i said usually. The ICS is killing the battery even more than the light, so most people will have a phone-USB to computer or wall charger, or run out of juice fast anyway.
Use this app that I just posted a few minutes ago for someone else. It's in this thread, post #3 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=339469.

This still does not work. If i use this app it does turn off the backlight but then ICS gets disconnected still... Does anyone have a solution to this?
Try psSHutXP (freeware) found here: http://ppcsoft.narod.ru/english/
The main App adds a soft reset, shut down, and lights off switch. Once run it adds a new Shortcut called Display which will turn off the LCD (just like the "lights off" in the main app.
I added the Display shortcut to my Launcher, and a double tap will turn off the display. Power button turns it back on.
It was made so you can still keep apps running while the LCD is off. Give it a go.
Is there an app or hack that will prevent the Nexus One from locking the screen when place in the desktop dock (similar to what it does in the car dock)?
Thanks.
This may or may not work I don't have a desktop doc I'm just guessing but if you go to settings -> applications -> development -> and check stay awake since that is supposed to stop it from sleeping during charge and the doc charges it, it may work.

Nope, I already have that checked, and it doesn't work.
It's not the screen staying on that is the problem, it's the screen locking.
When I insert my N1 into the dock, it automatically launches the clock app. The screen stays on, and all is well. However, when I try to do something on the phone (besides stare at the clock) like click on the home icon on the clock screen, the lock screen appears.
I basically want it to work like the car dock: If my device is locked, it remains locked when I put it in the car dock. If my device is unlocked, it remains unlocked when I put it in the car dock. (The screen stays on in both cases, as it does in the desktop dock, so there is no issue there.)
Have you tried anything with Tasker?

No, actually I have never used Tasker. Can it solve an issue like this (as minuscule as it might be)?
By the way, when the phone is in the dock, and I unlock it, it stays unlocked. It only locks (after the delay I have set) when the clock is activated. For example, when first placing it in the dock, it will launch the clock, and after, say 1 min, it will lock (although I don't know that it's locked until I exit from the clock app, or remove it from the dock).
I would say Tasker is probably capable of doing this. I have Tasker set up to do a number of things when I connect to the car dock, so it can't be that much different (I don't have a desk dock)...
Locale works just as well too
I guess I'll check out both tasker and locale.
But just to be clear: I want to keep the screen set to lock (with a PIN) after 1 min. I just don't want it to do so once I place it in the desktop dock (similar to what happens by default when I place it in the car dock) .

Yes, you just set Tasker to perform (or in this case prevent) an action based on a condition (phone is in dock).
You should try Screebl, it reads your phone's sensor and decides to disable lockscreen when your phone is up, and enables lockscreen when your phone is flat on table.

I found a little issue in all ROM which I used before and also in ROM which I'm using now. I think that everyone know Car Mode which is a special navigation menu to the car in our phones. The icon of this app looks like the car wheel. I have a little problem with this application:
1. I'm using a WidgetLocker app but with default lockscreen I have this issue also.
2. This problem is happend when I want to unlock my device.
And finally what's the problem? This app will starts spontaneus. I don't know why and I can't explain. Where is the problem? And always when I press EXIT CAR MODE in this app, I have still a notification icon. Strange problem I think. I don't have any program which have this function.
Do you have a cover with a magnet in it?
Yes I have. This is the reason? Are you kidding me?
Magnet activates car home, it's how the official car dock functions.
I want to deactivate this

As we all know, for some bizarre reason Samsung have removed the "Keep screen on while charging" option, and I have been using an app called AnyScreenTimeout to provide this functionality.
However, whenever I switch off my phone and switch it back on again, the "Stay on while plugged in" option in AnyScreenTimeout has become unticked.
I have tried a few different apps which also claim to keep the screen on while plugged in (e.g. Screen Off Timeout), but none of them survive a switch off and on again.
Any ideas? This really bugs me - when I am on mains power, I don't want my screen to turn off.
You could use Tasker (Paid) or Llama (free) and create a profile to disable the screen timeout while charging.
When using Llama just remember to create another profile to enable the timeout again, when diconnected.
Thanks!
I'm actually already using PhoneWeaver as a profile manager and it is able to do what I want. Many thanks for suggesting looking at a profile manager though - I was trying to fix this in totally the wrong way.
also you can use default clock apps.which is already in your G-note.go to desk clock.
I have been searching looking for way to make this work with no solution.
I have disabled AOD since it is consuming battery heavily and wanted notifications to behave as on stock android where they turn screen on. My note 8 is receiving notifications and LED turns on, but screen doesn't. I have to manually turn it on to be able to see the lockscreen notification.
Is there any way to make this work?
+1
Facing same issue.
Having the same problem. Aod does not work anymore.

I use "Dynamic Notifications". It lights up notifications when screen is locked. There's a certain amount of customisation, including screen on time. Used it on many of my phones including Note 8.
Wait.. You want the screen to turn on for every notification?
I hate that... Some apps even ignore the settings either way.

Same here, that would drive me nuts if the screen turned on for every notification. It's bad enough the screen turns on everytime the phone is plugged in/unplugged from USB or from a wireless charger.
Shouren, you can try snoozy charger app to manage the plug/unplug screen on issue

Thanks. The rom I'm using is actually supposed to have that disabled but I don't think it works for wireless charging, only cable. I never never charge with the cable anymore. But whatever, I prefer not to install apps just to disable one minor thing.
I understand you, I also prefer wireless, but, it works with wireless too
There must be a build prop tweak or something but I can't seem to find one right now.
Maybe a PM to a nice dev and they could tell you where to look. Report for community if you figure it out
