My girlfriend and I just received our Galaxy S6s from T-Mobile. Mine seems to be working fine. When we first set hers up, she kept getting a message that said "Unfortunately, (app name) has stopped." I gave her phone a factory reset. Now, it's happening on the Gmail app whenever she tries to access an email.
She installed the update already. Anyone else have this problem? 64gb Galaxy S6.
EDIT
It's working now. I gave the phone a -second- factory reset, but this time I didn't restore her account. When I opened Gmail this time, I was prompted to install Google Play Services. Perhaps the previous times, the phone was too busy installing other apps and hadn't updated/installed Play Services yet? In any event, everything's fine here, we're all fine, how are you?
Same thing happened with my wife's and it was because of google play services being updated as well.

My wife has a locked LG Thrill. No modifications made to it at all since purchasing it earlier this year. Noticed in the last month that she is unable to find/use the Google Talk app. Gmail isn't syncing automatically like it should be either. I've checked all settings and they appear to be set right. I can't find Google Talk in the play store at ALL, which is very strange...
Anyone else having these issues, or is this a stock firmware/software issue that needs to have the phone replaced?
Appreciate any input guys!

Never heard of anything like this. However, you may wish to try a factory reset on the phone. In order to do this, you can either trigger it from inside the booted phone, or by turning off the phone, and while you turn it back on, hold the Volume Down and 3D. This will take you into the recovery where you can choose to wipe cache/data for factory reset. Of course all personal settings will be lost, but it just may restore your lost apps. Good luck!
My Moto Voice seems to be playing up. I've only properly noticed it today.
Here's how it goes when the device is sleeping.
Me: What's up Moto X
Voice: beep
Me: Send text to wife
Voice: Ok. What's your message?
Me: hello
Voice: Ok sending. Say or type a pin.
Me: 1234
Screen says 'message sent' but it doesn't send the message!!
Same problem when I ask it to set a timer!
I'm seeing the same problem on a Samsung SG3. There is a recently introduced bug in the recent Search update. This was reported on Android Central. Article here.
I'm glad to see it formally reported, I have been searching the heck out of it and coming up with nothing. I've reinstalled GNL, Search & Hangouts to no avail.
In my case, when using Voice Command for a text, I get a "no SMS app installed" error, despite having Hangouts as my default message app.
I'm hoping they get this sorted quickly. My phone has had this bug for the past week or two.
It's not your brand new phone acting up, it's Search software bugs.
Right I changed my launch phrase to something else and now I can set a timer. but sending a message still not working. I'm running the stock Messaging app. Anyone else experiencing this??
Messaging still not working when using Moto Voice. I've note opened a support case with Motorola. I've made sure Messaging is the default app, used different launch phrases, tried restarting my phone.
Anyone else experiencing this?
My voice command text messaging is back. I recieved a Gmail update the other day, probably serendipity. I tried voice command texting today & it worked! I can also set an alarm via voice command, but not the countdown timer. The alarm is used for all timer sets now. Go figure, maybe server side on Google's part.
Motorola advised me to restart in safe mode and try again but no luck.
Now they're advising me to do a factory reset of the phone but I'm reluctant to do this as I'll lose ALL my settings and apps. Will try and make some time tonight or tomorrow to perform this. Will need to make a list of all my apps and folders I've created.
Still no go? That kind of stinks. They're just telling you the standards, factory reset, etc. Your apps should come flying back as you log back into your Google account after a factory reset. It's just time consuming to factory reset.
Moto Voice just released an update a little while ago. Give that a try.
I've managed to fix the issue after narrowing it down.
It was only not working when texting my wife. It worked for others.
I deleted her number from Contacts app and created it again and now it's working perfectly.
The Moto Voice update didn't make a difference as I tried that. Didn't bother with a factory reset in the end as it just takes too long and pointless.
Hopefully this helps others who get the same issue.
Hi everyone! I recently did a warranty replacement on my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. I received the new device yesterday (I believe the first day of the marshmallow update) and updated it to 6.0 when I first booted it up. Everything went fine and I returned the old device back to AT&T. I woke up this morning, however, to discover that AT&T Messages Backup and Sync will not work. Under the settings under messages the box for it is grayed out and it says "Checking with the cloud, please try again later." I did a backup of the device to my google account and while all my apps carried over, none of my pictures and messages did (the pictures aren't a big deal though because I save them with google photos). The message thing is a problem though because I have group chats and other messages that I now don't have access to on my phone. I checked on the AT&T message thing on the computer and all my messages were there but they still aren't on my phone. Does anyone have a solution to this? Thanks!
Just wondering if anyone else has had an issue with Google Assistant telling you she can't do something until the device is unlocked? This just happened this morning when I told Google to set and alarm after browsing the web. I got the above response. Tried a restart, did it again. Retrained voice.. still did it. I finally just went to apps and cleared all data and cache for Google app. That seems to have worked. Weird issue to have. Phone was unlocked whole time.

a work-around for this might be setting up "trusted voice" . Google Now, settings, voice, ok google detection, switch on "trusted voice". Sorry if you've done this already.
Ahh I'm having Google assistant issues it always seem to disconnected whenever I need it.. It does not recognize okay Google or even when I press the Google widget I have to go to chrome and google things there and voice does not work there... But people can hear me normal when I make phone calls or send whats app... And i disabled and reinstalled good app already
So I've got a couple problems that I hope someone here can help me fix.
I've only had my phone for a few days and things were going great until this morning. I received a text message and replied to it, but my response just sat on "sending..." until it failed. Once it failed I was able to tap on it to send it again, and it went through. Tested sending other messages to the same person and one other and I'm having the same issue. One person has a Galaxy S8 and the other an iPhone SE, so it's not limited to just Android or iOS users. All texts I try to send sit on "sending..." forever until they fail, then they send right away if I tap to resend. I've tried every supposed fix that I could find online to people that were having the same problem on older Samsung phones, but nothing has helped. The one solution that seems like it might help, I can't find on this phone. I've used both the stock Samsung Messages app and the Google Messages app, they both refuse to send messages and I can't find this setting in either app or in the phone settings. The setting I am referring to is called "message center" and it's supposed to be in the settings for the messages app, where you can change a number that corresponds to your carrier to allow text messaging or something like that. Like I said, I have no problem receiving texts.
My other issue is one I actually ran into on my Note 4 I was using before I got the 9. I had 8.1 installed on the 4 but I tried everything I could find online to try and fix this issue too, but didn't really have any luck. Now the problem has returned on my 9, I can't download updates or new apps from the Play Store. They just sit on "downloading". The download might finally start after letting it sit for an hour or so, but they won't initiate right away. So I've taken to using APKPure or APK Mirror to do my updates.
I've tried many things to solve both issues, but nothing has helped. The only thing I've not done is a factory reset because I really don't want to go through that already. Plus I did factory resets/clean ROM installs on the Note 4 and the Play Store issue always came back. I'm at wits end and am about ready to switch to an iPhone for good. Really don't want to as I much rather prefer Android and especially the Note phones, the 9 is a beast. But I can't take this Play Store issue much longer and not being able to send texts is not acceptable. So any help on either issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Have you tried changing your network settings? Have you made any modifications to your phone? Is play store problem on WiFi, mobile data, or both? Have you cleared data in play store and services? I think if you've had the problem with two of your phone, is there some commonality between the two? Some none mainstream apps or modification you did to both? If you've tried any and all fixes you've seen on Google, I think you need to factory reset, no point jumping through hoops to fix it if you're not willing to do a reset once at least. There are limited backup capabilities without root that you could use. But really you want to reset, and use as close to factory settings as you can for a while and see if the problem is still there before adding all your own apps and stuff.
What mods have you done to the note 9? Doesn't sound like a stock setup you got going there. Are you using the stock factory sms app or did you download an apk of it from apk pure?
My next question would be what network are you on and where and what model device.?

The text message issue seems to have resolved itself. I'm hoping it was just an issue with my network and won't return. I'd still really like to find the "message center" setting that's mentioned so many times online though in case I need it in the future.
I didn't bother listing what network I'm on since these issues appear to happen on many models of phones and all networks, but here is my info. 512gb model Note 9 on Spectrum Mobile, who is using Verizon's network I believe. My Note 4 on the other hand is a T-Mobile version running on their network through Straight-Talk.
Both issues happened on wifi and lte.
Like I said, I've done everything listed online I could find. I've cleared app cache, app data, reset network settings, booted into safe mode, booted into recovery to clear cache, installed the absolute newest versions of play services and play store apks, and whatever else I've read or thought of. And like I said, I've done clean installs/factory resets on my Note 4 to try and fix the play store issue and it always comes back. So I highly doubt doing so will permanently fix it on the 9.
I've been using Android since it first was released and have been in IT for much longer, but this play store issue has me stumped. The 9 isn't modified in any way other than running a dark theme from the Samsung Theme app. I guess if nothing turns up here I will give it a few days and then do a reset if it doesn't resolve itself, reinstall apps slowly so I can see if one of them is responsible even though safe mode ruling them out didn't work.
You don't need to worry about the message center, I'm pretty sure it's not even a thing anymore, I remember it from the days of the Nokia 5110 haha. If you really want to know it and your messages app has a setting to add it you can call your network provider for it or look on Google for your networks message center, but I'm sure it's not even necessary, especially if your test messaging works, if you needed to enter the message center and you didn't, you wouldn't be able to text at all. As I said, I'm positive it's a thing just from the olden days anyway.
As for play store, I have had a similar problem in the past but it was always just a short lived issue that resolved itself, but if it's happening to you repeatedly then I don't know, other than a reset.
