Hi everyone! I have extracted my Pit from EFS Professional from a guide that someone wrote. But I am not responsible for any damages that this does to your device! I am unsure this works as I just extracted it only and my device works fine! Others has also pulled their pit so here's the collection so far!
What are Samsung PIT Files?
PIT files contain the Partition Information Table (PIT) for Samsung Android phones. Different firmware versions may require different partition layouts so the necessary PIT file 'tells' Odin how to set up the phone partitions correctly for the specified firmware to be installed. Sometimes odin can't find the pit in results in odin saying "there's no pit partition" or something similar. That's why pits are important.
The PIT file contains all the relevant information for each required partition such as Partition Name, Flash File Name, Block Size, Block Count etc. and also contains some unknown properties that maybe identifiers or flags of some sort.
Note: Flashing Pits can totally brick your device! Most times it not needed! Be extra extra careful on what you do! I or no one else is responsible for damages. You are responsible for that!

HOW TO FLASH PIT
Take that PIT file and place it in the PIT slot in Odin along with the Firmware in the PDA/AP slot.
Click Repartition and Auto Reboot. (Note if first attempt fails with a SET PARTITION error then run it again WITHOUT the repartition checked)

Now your data/partitions may not mount. Simply install twrp and reformat the partitions. In twrp, go to "Wipe" --> "Advanced Wipe" --> "Repair or Change File System" --> "Select Partition to Repair or Format" --> "Change File System" --> "EXT4". Hopefully that should fix your problems.

Thank for those who spent their time to extract pits!
Be very careful flashing pits! Press thanks for those on contributed as this would have never been a collection without them. If this saves your device, post below! I need to know [emoji14]

Can I ask as a bit of a novice when and why would you flash a PIT File using Odin?
Thanks.
Its used for partition mapping. There is a copy installed on the device. If you lose that you won't be able to install anything unless you have a backup.

Some people mess up their partitions in which odin won't flash anything because it doesn't know where to put each file to each partition. Most times you don't need it unless you messed up your device really bad.

Hey guys
I wish to flash "I9070ILOLF2" modem to my device, so I downloaded the rom & extracted the files from the tar.md5 file.
now I have the modem file that I wish to flash (which doesn't have an md5 verification) but not the amss.mbn file.
I tried using any kind of md5 summer \ cygwin (in this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658809 ) - in both cases, It seemed to be valid, but when I flashed it - it failed.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks!

ok,
so I used odin 1.85 and odin 3.07.
I've selected the .PIT file and the modem (that I extracted & calculated the MD5), and it just don't work.
odin 1.85 fails,
odin 3.07 succeeded,
(I can't install heimdall's driver - my os don't allow me, so it's out of the question :\ ).
the modem version stays the same - my phone gets bricked for a couple of minutes and then comes back :silly:
edited: also, the binary counter doesn't change, so it safe to assume the modem file is problematic.

Not really. Binary increases only when you flash a kernel through Odin. Doesn't matter if it's stock or custom kernel!

Ok, so I reached to a solution:
Backed up my whole rom with twrp, flashed the stock and the twrp kernel, and restored.
Luckily, jetmod doesn't install a modem

I flashed my stock, when rooting with Qzem method. It increase only with his, and stock didn't increase it. As I remember you have to flash 2 times in his method, and my binary counter was 1 after that.

Android kitchen.
Backup with CWM, take system.ext4.tar.a, remove that "a" in the end. And use it in Kitchen.
Just take flashable ZIP from any of our JB ROMs, because updater-script is different on other phones.
In the the .tar.md5, I only see system.img.md5 and some other .img.md5 files

By using Android kitchen and system.ext4.tar with it. It will unpack it for you. You need to use guide of it, read it carefully. You do not need boot, it is kernel (if not put in ROM, previous one will remain in phone).
And do not be a noob, ne newbie. Read, read, search, read...
Will this method work... Because in the kitchen thread, S advance is not in the supported devices list... But I'd reckon it's very similar to the Galaxy Ace 2...

It will work to get files you need. And after that just use our updater-script (and whole META-inf folder).
P.S. Before you try to make some ROM, please read all threads about that. You can't just swing with stick, and become an dev.

That is a VERY good question. I'll be pulling the OTA zip once it starts pushing. Then I'll see about extracting the partitions and making us an ODIN tar md5 for it. I like being in the game on an open device! In any case, yea, I don't suspect it's a big update...I think it's the same security update everyone else got with no user facing changes.

So is this a baseband update? or actual OS update. I ask since I am running a custom rom on the phone anyways. If it is a baseband update then I will go through the hassle of restoring the stock and getting it.

Guys I've got my hands on the original pit files for the tab 2 variants ( 10.1 & 7.0 )
What are pit files ?
A pit file is a kind of file often used in samsung phones / tablets , these files contain partition tables of the device and the spaces of them with the arragment of each partition with there corresponding mount points ; these files can difenitly dangerous and can kill your tab with a breeze if not used with care

And of course if this also has P51XX files then post in those forums too!!!
Finally, will p3110 files work on p3113?

@mythi
Thanks for posting!
But there is a little problem: when I try to unzip PIT for P5110 (8GB) it asks for a password.
Can you please update the OP with the password for unzipping of 8GB pit file?
I don't really need this 8GB pit file myself, but for the people who do, it would be helpful to know the password
Hey thanks for posting ! Will surely be of a great use

Yeah mythi it asks for a password when you try to extract the rar that's inside the zip of either one.
Yeah dude it asks for passwords for most of the files

Okay guys, I figured out the trick (maybe).
In my case the password was "droidevelopers.com"
That's because all this stuff was taken from there
Try it and see if it works
OP, next time you repost stuff claiming "your hands on", just make sure to grab all the thing

You're welcome.
This pit file changed everything. I used mobile odin lite and the official p5113 4.2.2. rom to return to stock but got all kinds of problems with initial setup taking forever and leaving black screens. Then when it did settle down, it would hang like crazy. I tried disabling a bunch of samsung apps and push services and it seemed to help but google play wouldn't install apps. It would finish the download and say installing forever. I started wondering if a previous flash had changed up some partitions so I started searching for a pit file and found this post. Flashed the pit and the 4.2.2. and whaddya know! It seems to also help to enter your google login in at initial setup. I haven't tried it without that step yet as of yet so I can't say for certain but I'm pretty confident it was the partioning that was the main problem. PEACE!
Hi,
i think i broke my tab2. I get the error with odin <ID:0/003> There is no PIT partition. I tried to remake the pit partion with the GTab2 P511x 16G.pit. But i got there a error too (<ID:0/003> Complete(Write) operation failed.) Can anybody help me?
The main Problem is, i cannot boot in the normale mode. Only in the Recovery + Downloade Mode.

Restoring your Tab is likely work if you flash an entire stock firmware with Odin under PDA together with PIT file (for your type number!) under PIT. Re-partition should be enabled. If it works, after you've rebooted the OS once successfully, flash the last custom recovery you've used (again with Odin under PDA but never again with enabled re-partition) and restore your last nandroid backup.

I have repaird my tab2 . I must flash with the old clockword mananger to cm10.3. And than i could reboot. After that i could update the twrp and now i use the slim kat rom.
Thank you for the good forum xda!

Nothing new here, we've had this for quite some time now. Most people will still want to wait for it to come from Samsung.

the problem is not ownership but the sharing part.
Has anyone brave enough tested it out yet?

No, but you need change name or remove .md5

i was merely explaining why.
even if something is not yours, the act of sharing something might not always be good, even if you had the best of intentions.
anyone trying yet?
Please someone test, need to know?
How to receive Official Pie without changing CSC + Doubt clear
Listen guys,
I am reading since many days this and that firmware is from unknown source, dont flash bla bla
Is there not a simple way to check authenticity ?
I believe yes, there is
How?
Disable your OEM lock (developer option) By-default it should be off but making sure, it will not allow you to flash custom binary
Now download un-released firware from available source
Flash using Odin
If firmware is not by samsung, it won't allow you to flash. and so it shouldn't trip knox as well, as no firmware is flashed.
If successfully flashed then you will able to flash/receve update too if available.
One more thing, NEVER make stupidity to remove md5 extension from file as it will force flash file even it is corrupted and that can even brick device depending upon which component file is corrupted
I have just flashed CRLT (I have different source from OP but yes, not available officially) and also updated to latest CSA2
PS : my OEM I keep always enable as never care for knox but when I have received and applied OTA, this itself suggest my Odin flashed file was genuine.
Hope this will clear all doubt

Why?
Can you explain this logically? You know this stupid action can brick the device?

1.I said about your advise to delete MD5. Do you know how removing md5 is vulnerable to brick device?
2.FYI Odin doesn't have matter of file name (*.tar.md5) you are flshing, it does matter name of images.(like system.img,boot.img etc) so even changing name help you nothing.
3.MD5 can not be changed by changing name of file but afftects by contents.
And I have seen your images and only stupid person can change name like this (who have packed tar_xyz.md5) My source have no such renaming. This is not renaming of file but renaming of extension.
Even in this case advise to remane "Anything.tar".md5 is perfect rather than deleting md5
I can confirm that it works. Thanks for firmware!

I just downloaded attached file from drive and removed UserUpload.net so I ended up with tar.md5. Because Odin wasn't accepting it with. That's it*
