So since I got the phone I am trying to figure what is going on with LED notifications. Basically it works fine with missed calls, sms, gmail, email, it blinks every few seconds, but with 3rd party apps like whatsapp, viber, facebook..it wont blink, its just always on (until i clear notification). I tried some apps like Light Flow, even if you set it to blink/flash every few seconds, it doesn't work, its always ON.
Also I noticed something strange about illumination bar when browsing gallery, as soon as LED notification light turns on, illumination bar will turn off, like some kind of conflict between them.
I did phone repair, factory reset, nothing helps.
So I want to know is it supposed to be like that, is it a glitch/bug, bad programming or something else. Even on my old Sony phone I had troubles with LED...

Have you enabled "STAMINA"-Mode in the Settings? if yes turn it off and see if it helps.

I have testet it on my E1 and i can't get it work too. I think the ROM has a bug or something.
Also I noticed that LED is keeping phone awake. For example, you receive email, led is blinking keeping phone awake and then "Android OS" is draining battery like crazy if wifi is enabled, but that's another story. Tried repair, factory reset, nothing helps...

The phone is continuously blinking that I have a new sms!
I restarted, same thing!
I went through each and every sms in my inbox/email folders so that if one was "new" it would be read since I entered it.
Still blinking, so I uninstalled it, restarted and re-installed it. Still blinking!!
I then uninstalled it, restarted, installed it this time on my storage card, restarted and same! Still damn blinking.
I even turned off all light notifications and restarted, then enabled blinking, still blinking! I even changed lights but still blinked green and blue!
Wheres the malfunction?
thanks
Green blinks are normal for me, seem to mean the phone is on. And blue blinks means Bluetooth is on. This can be changed to some extent with a program, but I don't recommend it because the initial version of the program strangely doesn't allow setting the blue blink as an indicator of Bluetooth being on, which is SUCH a weird thing, since it's the default not only for this phone but pretty much for all phones with Bluetooth capability.

You are not familiar with this app called Kaiser Notification by Phil Lee.
It allows you to disable lights and then enable lights for different notifications.
So you can set it to blink green (right lamp) for new sms and blue for new email or vice versa.
You can have it blink amber for bluetooth on, red for missed call and green for phone in service.
Or you can turn off all blinking notifications.
Mine is blinking blue even though I have no new sms.
Hi
This problem has been reported before although I've never seen it. What seems to happen is Windows Mobile gets out of sync with the count of unread messages. The program itself just looks at these counts so if it is told by Windows Mobile there are 'x' unread messages it sets the LED flashing.
A fix is discussed here which requires using a registry editor to reset the counts. I'm working a newer version with some extra features and will look to change the code to either include this fix or to keep count of messages itself rather than use the Windows Mobile reported counts.
Hope the above helps.
Regards
Phil
Hi Phil,
Thanks for taking the time to create such a great app and the time to respond to errors. I checked the thread you referred to and it is literally exactly what im going through,e xcept I havent edited the registry yet.
Thanks again!
It wakes up everytime I get a text message and sometimes seems to wake up for no reason. This didn't always happen but I can't find and option to disable this.
Anyone know what I can do about it?
i dont think so it might be better to leave it alone.

On my phone, every time I receive a text message, the buttons light up for about half a second then starts to vibrate and play the ringtone. It's been doing that since the whole CnD thing and I've just ignored it since it didn't seem to be causing any issues.
You could go into the SMS app and shut off notifications from there. Might make a nice, powersaving script.
I don't know why the phone powers up without a notification. I have found I can't turn on my Wifi when I turn on Background data and it's been off for quite a while (still have autosync off). My data connection is showing heavy useage. The big G is watching us all. It makes me wonder if something is coming in to your phone from somewhere to wake it.
If it's killing you, you could try living without apps for a day you suspect might be doing it, or just schedule a kill at intervals if you can't uninstall it.
You could go into settings and change the screen timeout to 15 Sec so if it does come on, it wont stay on long..
Extremely minor issue here, every now and again my trackball blinks white twice, and when i go to check for notifications, there's nothing. Anyone know why?
It might be data connection. I have this happen when I lose and reconnect.
Possibly k9mail. I think there's an option to turn that off. It flashes when its checking the email.
i have problems on LED notification. it seems like it is not yet integrated on kernel r8. whenever i receive a message or i missed a call.. the lights of the soft keys turns on.. and remains on. but no LED notification.. i chose the green one.. i even tried turning off the "wake screen" when u receive a message
try the app NoLed its free and does what you want

thanks for the reply mate.. it's working like a charm but the thing is, it drains more battery... i just want to use the built in BLN
Does optimus 4x has led notification light?
No, the O4X doesn't have it.
And the app 'LG Notifications' doesn't seem to work for 4X yet. It worked fine on my 2X.
This app flashes the light in the buttons whenever there are new e-mail, SMS, missed calls and so on.
Great app, and hopefully they will get it working on the 4X soon.
didn't found anything about front-button-led notifications in settings..
all i found, is to turn on/off light on buttons, and timeout for them.
I am very sad, because the best device in the world (4X HD) does not have the LED, please we want a solution for that.
Good Software AND Hardware AND IPS WOW.
I think we(somebody) can use(make a rom) to bring the front button for led notification.
the button's have led's, then there must be a way to use them for notifications
Unfortunately no program of the market, active touch LED notification!
Install the app NoLed, it is very useful and works on 4X perfectly. Different kind of customization to suit your lifestyle, e.g. icon, color of led, time to turn on/off led. It saves you trouble to press the Power button to check whether there is email, SMS, missed call,..............in. case you miss the sound notifications.
There are also other features to save battery - notification timeout, dismiss with proximity sensor (dismiss notifications when phone is in pocket or upside down), etc.
Yep, nice app !
I installed this, but I don't get it! Surely you have to wake your screen up to see what you've missed? How is that different from what the lock screen shows you?
(Those apps that light the soft-keys look great, if you could individually light them, one for calls, one for messages, one for emails (Not sure if the phone could even light them one by one)

It works on my 4X perfectly, I even tried to add the Time yesterday and it pops up with the notification. No need to wake your screen up, that's the idea of NoLed! Look up the setting to see what you missed.
BTW, you can let the Time light up constantly but surely it will drain out your battery very fast.
