you'll get as many answers as there are ROMs. Just read the ROM threads and try out the ones that sound interesting to you.
There is also a review thread somewhere

This thread --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/rom-reviews-youtube-01-4-15-pure-shamu-t2992769 has some good reviews.
Like others have said, do a nandroid and try them out. Personally, Benzo + Vindicator kernel are my daily's.
I second the Benzo+Vindicator combo

As do I. Its the built in kernel now I believe.
I also recommend benzo rom. features galore! very smooth., however it uses the theme engine for themes.
if you prefer layers for themes then i recommend chroma rom

lolz.... He probably got it wrong!! I don't know any villian ROM!! Now some one should come up with one or may be they can build Hero ROM
Its villain only .But i doubt its compatibility with SGM
Apart from that for faster performance I prefer cyanogenmod.my mini got overclocked at 880mhz(rarely).
If you are looking for customization then go to UOT KITCHEN.Just Google it!
Using emanoN ROM @ 806MHz

thanks dude for your information
HI guys i just got my nexus and i downloaded the toolkit.
I want to know what is the best rom to flash and a link to how would be appreciated?
I would like one that dosen't interfere with OTA updates as well
Thank you all very much
I would recommend Paranoid Android 3+. Link is in my signature. Even if you dont update it a lot, every build is very stable. Battery life is really good. It uses stock kernel with no overclocking or under clocking. Lots of customization. Check out the video in the official thread.
If you are running 4.2.1, make sure to update your baseband and boot loader when upgrading to 4.2.2.

What do you think of the miui avatar rom?

That's not an official MIUI ROM. Its based on CM with MIUI look. MIUI ROMs aren't available for N4 yet because its running 4.2.1 or 4.2.2. You have to wait until MIUI catches up with N4 firmware. Feel free to install it.
Edit: updated

I love ParanoidAndroid, and the Franco M1 on top of it is great.

Congrats on the new nexus, but as born2gethard has alluded to, "best rom" threads aren't allowed. Too many people with too many opinions. Just try them for yourself.

hi guys, what so u prefer ? pi-llama rom, jellyaosp rom or omar rom ?
i used all this roms but i find that jellyaosp rom is very fast and smooth than others roms specialy 4.7.1 version , i also prefer stock ui of pi-llama, and maybe omar rom is the best when talking about batterylife but i find some bugs on it and i need to restart many times...
so what do u prefer ? im tired of changing rom everytime, so what do u suggest ?

Did you try infiniROM? Very fast, very smooth, very battery-safing, with stock UI.
there are no known issues. Only thing is the swap of the sd-card. And most of the framework- und systemUI-mods will not work. But there is Xposed out now :good:
I use this rom since i rooted my phone, so I can't compare to the others. But I don't see any reason to change the rom.

The "best" one is the ROM which suits your needs and expectations, we can all be a little different in that respect. So pick one and stick with it and enjoy your phone for what you bought it for.
FWIW I have been using the JellyAOSP ROM, I intended to just test it out, and I have stuck with it so far as it is quite minimalistic, not being bloated with apps etc that I do not need, and is very responsive.

in my opinion jellyaosp is the best rom (fast, smooth, no bugs...) the developper do a nice job and always updated.. but the battery drain a little more than the other roms and also i prefer stock ui

Can somebody please explain the differences between carbon ROM & CM? All the 4.4 ROMs look/feel the same to me apart from the awful sounds in carbon ROM.
I appreciate all the hard work the devs put in to making the ROMs. Iv been using maclaws 4.4 since initial release & its perfect for my needs.

if its comparision sorry buddy cant help [forum rules] why cant u check out videos in youtube about carbon rom and cm
Yeah I've googled it. They "sound" very different but in practice they feel the same.
I'm only asking for the main differences between them.
Back in the days of 4.1 ROMs dmod etc all the ROMs were very different. Now they don't seem that way.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda app-developers app
I think that they are very different in the settings but their interface is the same cause they are all basedon the aosp project. If you want to see the differences search videos read the Rom posts or just download them and try them both....

i can't compare them but i can tell you both are different from system as other roms are different from scripts, smoothness etc, etc. This is the same case if you want to know wich rom is better we can't help you with that but we can recommend you one

Yeah, I just tried LineageOS, but I'm heading back to stock now. I think it's the best all around option.
Try Project L N7. with Ram Kernel.
