Heya,

First of all because my main app "Puzzle and Dragons" is not lollipop ready.
Furthermore I really dont like the new design and the lockscreen looks pretty ****ty because it is way more darker then before .
All in all I didnt see a reason to switch over to Lollipop because it seems unpolished and kinda bugged.
Same here, rolled back to my rooted 77fw with complete working xposed without ugly material design and these horrible orange buttons, I'm even have not noticed any changes in performance etc.
Actually its my 1st case where i prefer to stay on the older fw, but no, i remember when vista arrived i was using xp till the 7s version of windows came out
Wbr.
I remember suggesting I wasnt olvery looking forward to 5.0 from all the previews I had been watching on youtube. I had several folk telling me it was "awesome" and battery life was going to be amazing due to project volta etc.
well then it arrived on both my nexus 4+7 and sadly it was a mess. battery was worse, stuff was just weird and quite a few things had gone backwards. sounds, notifications, recents, quick settings etc.
all poor and not one thing I found useful over 4.4.4.
so I sold both and Ill be avoiding 5 until its fixed its issues totally, and maybe even then I wont bother. the z3c is the first phone Ive had which is decent speed but with an amazing battery life, why would I risk that for cosmetic changes which I dont even really like.

By experience, when a new version of Android is released, usually some fixes are needed. And until such things are fixed, users have to deal with that. No big deal.
Because of that, I use to wait patiently for a "perfect" version of the "new" system.
And because of what Dr.Ezkimo wrote too.

sadly many are "features". but yep, 5.1 does fix some of the issues with the notifications and silent mode. so time will tell if its worth it
You can easily disable OTA updates even without being rooted! Go to Settings > Manage Apps > ALL > System updates, uncheck Notifications and Disable the app.
These update notifications were driving me nuts because anyone who has followed my comments knows that I feel that 25R is the most stable firmware with the longest battery life and I don't care to gamble on later updates. Even 38R isn't full proof!

Under "sound¬ifications" I disabled notifications for software update and sotware service, but it still comes after every reboot.
Under "apps" the checkbox for notifications is still checked and greyed out" ... so no chance to diable it without root ???

Hello,
I ve found a way to disable system update service.
1. Download disable service from the play store.
2. Disable All thread under Device update
3. Disable SystemUpdateService under Google Play services

I just followed the steps and the update notification in my nexus 5 is gone!
thanks a lot!

Keep in mind that doing it that way only hides the notification.
It will still download, and it WILL wakelock to do so.

I am using this to disable the OTA notification for Lollipop. It eliminates the notification but the update is still available under About Phone/System Updates, and it requires touching "Download" to download. So, why do you think the OTA will still occur?

I'm saying that it will just hide all system notifications, NOT get rid of the OTA. You'll miss other system notifications if you do get any and the OTA will still be waiting.

If you check app info you will notice you are disabling notifications for Google play services app. This app has nothing in common with standard android system notifications so they will continue to work. Question is, what other notifications does play services app has that could be considered important to the user.
OK.. I'd like to get rid of this notification for now as I've already Unlocked, Rooted and installed TWRP. I realize I can now just use the ToolKit and easily revert back and take OTA but I'm wondering is there anything I can possibly freeze in TiBu??
I'm new to Nexus so go easy on me!
Thanks!
I'd take the OTA. Fixes some things. Only takes 5 minutes to re root and install TWRP

Well I've tried that and it's Google Play Services. It does get rid of it, but was hesitant to do that for GPS.
But it's OK. No need to go on about this I suppose, like I said earlier this is my first Nexus and also I just left Verizon so I'm used to having to do silly things liked Freezing OTA updates. Certainly not the case here, suppose you guys caught me being a Nexus Noob [emoji16]
Edit..
By the way I just had to use the App Manager and disable Notifications for Play Services. The Long Press method from notification bar brought me to another screen entirely.
Thanks for the kick in the right direction.
First Nexus device? Well welcome on board! The future holds a lot of great stuff for a new nexus. Won't be be long before custom Roms amongst other things start rolling out.
Went to Galaxy app store and checked under "My Apps" I had updates for messages, Bixby Vision, Live Messages and about 8 or 10 other apps. They weren't there yesterday, so you all might want to check. I'm not sure what's different yet, but it was a hell of a lot of updates.

Got the official android pie One UI update tonight and just wtf is this mess ? I like the reachable menu items but no swiping across to access the next menu item is less intuitive. Swiping down to access notification is now drawn out, a quick flick down doesn't open it you have to drag your finger down. Performance modes seem to be missing.
All in all it just looks like iPhone OS.
I'll get used to it a guess, well I'll have to won't I ?
I'm sure there's more I'm going to complain about as I've only been on Pie for about 20mins.

I completely agree. It's really terrible.
What have they done to multitasking?
You used to be able to swipe from one corner of a full screen app to put it in windowed mode. That's completely gone.
In order to use split screen you have to go into recents. Swipe back to the app you were using (because it moves away from view). Tap the icon at the top of the app. Select "open in split screen view". Then either scroll through all your recent apps to find the one you want to have one the bottom half of the screen. Or if it isn't in your recent apps you have to find it by typing into a search box! (You can't even switch which is top and bottom any more.)
In Oreo you just opened recents tapped split screen on one app and selected the other from the app-list in the bottom.
Totally! I am so frustrated that I threw my phone from a moving car. Never touching a Samsung again. That will teach them. I bet they will go out of business now!

It's a new OS, it is different to the last one, there is an easy way to go back, no-one likes listening to someone complaining about everything possible in multiple threads for no reason other than you don't like it, that's not productive and is not going to change anything, so either learn to live with it or flash back to Oreo
Why keep complaining you don't like Pie when you absolutely do not have to use it? It's just whining mate, no-one likes that and all you'll do (As is already happening) is annoy other members

One answer to that is dont use Samsung apps. I have plenty of space so I use the Google dialer, Google Messages, and Google calendar. In fact, I don't use any stock Samsung apps and have most of them disabled along with Samsung Experience Home. With Home disabled the recent menu is vertical again. Of course, with receents vertical you can't use the hold home slide right option.

Hi.
I just noticed that when I received a WhatsApp message I get no notification. Same when someone calls me on WhatsApp. The notification only shows up when I open WhatsApp.
Something that it's probably related, accubatery doesn't provide any stats, everytime I open it it's like I start it for the first time.
I'm pretty sure there is some hidden task killer that doesn't allow most of the apps to do background stuff.
Any idea?
PS: I removed WhatsApp and Accubatery from batery optimization, reinstalled both apps, same thing.
Thanks

I don't think it's possible that the CN rom would have a glaring fault like this - "Deep Process Clean" enabled but not having an option to disable it.
The whole moniker is pretty clearly a badly translated Chinese version of the concept.
Perhaps, two different people translated it from Chinese to English in the two roms.
Here's a suggestion:
1) Process could be "task", "program", "app."
2) Clean could be "kill", "end", "terminate."
3) Deep could be "Old", "late", "unused."
An actual native speaker of Chinese would probably knock it out of the park on first attempt. Still, I think it's worth a try.
any solved yet for cn rom?

Right after the update to NA 1.18, there were no problems - the Deep Process Clean setting disappeared, but notifications were coming in fine.

The problem is that the "Deep Process Clean" option disappeared from settings, and now the phone won't get notifications until it is turned on. The notifications were fine immediately after 1.18 update, but now, 1.5 months later, Gmail won't work until the phone is turned on. Some other people have also noticed this behavior.
If there's an update coming up, could you ask the engineers to put the "Deep Process Clean" option back please?
Thanks.

Version 1.18 removed the deep process clean feature due to some bugs, it will kill the apps and preventing them to run in background. You can do a factory reset and see if you can get the notification.

I am not sure what to make of it.
1) The option was removed, but clearly, the code is still there that kills the background apps.
2) He suggested that I do a factory reset, because I may "see if you can get the notification." I would hate to the reset the phone and find out it still kills apps.
3) I wonder if there's any way to clear cache or data from some app/system app to make this work.
Any ideas?
