i've got a galaxy tab, no custom roms, not even rooted and i can't reset it. when i go to Privacy-->factory reset, it will boot into the boot menu, and i do the data and cache wipe from there, then it will only reset the homescreen. my accounts and data stays on the device. i've seen the problem once online, but can't seem to find anymore topics on it. does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I'm having the same exact problem. I can't seem to find a way around it, and I suppose I will have to send it in if I don't want to go into ODIN and deal with it that way.
Same issue
I'm having the same issue.
It does not matter how I do it the result is the same.
The 3G information is wiped out, all the applications are messed up, but my Gmail account, Facebook and accounts are still there. If I manually remove all the accounts using account manager, when I reboot the tab, they're all back!
I've tried:
Menu > Settings > Privacy > facotry reset
and I've tried holding down the Volume Up button while booting and selecting facotry reset and clear cache. No good...
At this point I'm being sent a new Tablet, but I really want my personal information cleared before I send it back. How can I "jack" it up? I've looked for a Verizon ROM to see if I can put that back on using the SD card, hoping that would wipe it, but can't seem to find one. Or any CDMA Rom that might wipe everything out.
After I had this issue I even installed z4Root and rooted teh phone, hopeing to use an App that remote wipes, but the results were the same and NOW the SuperUser force closes everytime I try to open it. In fact, almost all the apps seem to force close when starting them EXCEPT market and Gmail.
Help!
--- update----
Changed my passwords on Gmail, Facebook and Twitter. After about 30 minutes the tablet finally stopped displaying my information and started prompting for passwords.
This is an old thread but I'm having the same problem with my Sprint Galaxy Tab. Factory resetting through recovery mode, settings, flashing a new rom, etc don't work and pretty much every app crashes as soon as the tab boots.
Anything I can do before sending it in?
Anyone else facing this problem? I did have two google account in my tab. I would like to remove one of it which I dont use anymore. BUT the system request me to factory reset if I want to remove the account.
BUT the problem is, i'm afraid if I reset, others problem will come later.
I always heard people taking "Don't fixed it if its aint broken". LOL
So, over my curiosity to see either this "unable to remove account" is a common problem which involve my tab also or not?
Curiosity kill the cat!!
haha..so afraid now...
same issue

xena0709, I know if you flash the overcome safe gb rom then it wipes everything. You should try that....
Overcome is GSM only...

Solved.I took my tab to Samsung center. Replace the mainboard. Now it work.

hello all,
i know that this thread is very old. but i faced this problem now, i want to know if flashing the stock ROM will solve this problem or the only option is to change the motherboard. As my tab is out of warranty and this will cost me a lot to get motherboard changed
thanks in advance.

hi all, my phone has numerous problems and nothing seems to fix the phone, so ill sum up the issues
none of my apps work, ALL of them force close as soon as they are opened, I've tried factory resetting the phone, but after the reset the apps are still there with the same problem. The same things happen after i do a hard reset. I've tried reflashing stock and non stock firmwares and nothing fixes the problem, my phone is basically useless.
Is there any fix to this?

I don't know what your warranty situation is, but if you can flash back to stock, I'd take it into an AT&T store and see if you can get a warranty replacement. It's possible there may be a fix to your issue, but if you are in a position where you can just swap it out for a new phone, that may be your best/least frustrating solution.
Have you tried going into mounts and storage in cwm formatting everything and then flashing?
My phone is out of warranty
and yes i've tried that but still no luck :/

When you flashed to stock, did you do a Master Clear also? It sounds like a software issue and should be fixed with a complete system wipe.
I'm going to assume you used some type of backup " tibu " or something similar before you did any flashing ? If so did or how did you reinstall your apps and data ? Cuz if you install system apps plus data it would explain why all your apps are force closing. Only install missing apps plus data.
Do the ethical thing... Go to at&t and claim ignorance to the problem. Always works out.
Hi guys,
My phone is experiencing random soft reboots (reboots without a need to type in simcard PIN) during the day. It happens totally randomly, sometimes 3 times a day, sometimes not once in a couple of days. Sometimes when I use it, sometimes when it's idle on the table.
I'm running stock JB 4.3 A.1.205, LB, Towel-rooted, no custom recovery (I tried some previously and they were givig me all sorts of trouble, so I downloaded fresh official ROM and Towel).
I've been trying to track down the process that causes reboots, I temporarily uninstalled Xposed framework but it still ocurred.
Is this a known issue? Is there a better way to check what is causing that (perhaps in some log file)?
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Michal

Try with hard reset or try to flash another stock ftf
Thanks, but the reset doens't seem to change much, it occurs anyway.
I'd rather avoid changing rom again, as I said I just recently installed clear stock offcial rom via PCC and only towel-rooted it.
Any ideas how I could try to track the fault process?

I would have said it´s because of the xposed framework if you haven´t said you uninstalled it once. I had the same problem once, and I was kind of sure that it´s because of some gravitybox settings which gave trouble.
I recommend you to uninstall the xposed framwork once again, reboot and give it a try

Well, I'll give it a go, however I did it before and the reboots occurred anyway... I'm now slowly uninstalling all the apps one by one to see when this craziness stops
I'm starting to suspect that it's a fault of Google Play Services, they're always on high positions in my Wakelock and Battery Usage lists, I heard people are also having some other problem with this app.
Edit:
Another thing is that I try to modify something in AppOps (I'm accessing it via some shortcut apps from the Store), but I cannot change permanently any settings (I click back, then enter again some app and it's all 'allowed' again), is this normal?
I'm digging up an old thread, but I narrowed down my problem to Stamina Mode, I think.
I wiped all data via factory reset, reinstalled clean system via PCCompanion and only townel-rooted. The soft-resets began to appear again shortly after first boot. I tried to eliminate differet things and it seems that the reboots occur only when Stamina Mode is on. I've switched it off like a week ago and the phone has been running smooth ever since.
Now I'm just asking out of pure curiosity, has anyone ever stumbled upon similar problem? Is Stamina Mode known for causing any issues of this kind?
Hey folks, first thread ever, I really need help with this troubled N910T, DOK2, Android 5.1.1
Whats wrong with this phone:
The contact app will stop everytime I open it, since contact app is combined into Phone app, so the Phone app will also stop everytime I click on it. However, the situation will be fixed if I change the locale to English. (The phone belongs to a Asian friend)
One of the instant message app, the Wechat, similar to Whatsapp Messager and Facebook Messager, will not receive any kind of notification, at all.
The phone's battery drop from 50% to 1% then turn off itself in minutes.
The last two problems may be unrelated issues to the first one, and that is not the main reason I'm really here. I have ODIN flashed the latest firmware over 10 times and all THREE of the problems still exist after all that.
And whats bothering me is that ODIN flash firmware WILL NOT FACTORY RESET this phone, that doesn't make any sense to me. Please let me know if I make a mistake about that, because every other phone or tablet I have worked on before will always be factory reset after flashing a OEM firmware.
I have also flahed TWRP and wiped everything from the System to the internal storage and reflash the firmware but the problem is still there.
sort of things have been done to the phone may have something to do with the problems:
installed the zips I got from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...pt-touchwiz-bloating-script-222-apps-t3258537
it debloated the phone.
the phone was lost in a rainy day, found again two days later. Remote lock and wipe preformed via Android Device Manager but the wipe process never go through.
Please let me know if the phone is worth saving at all, I have spent days in this phone fixing and researching for solution. I found no similar issue around here, and the phone is out of warranty.
Thank you and please let me know should I throw this thing away.
Battery needs to be replaced. Are you sure you flashed right firmware for 910t not 910t3?

Many times already.
If you haven't done so, you may want to do a clean install which means wiping system, data, dalvik and cache at least three times in custom recovery such as TWRP. Then you can try ODIN baseband, bootloader, rom and kernel (if rom doesn't contain one), custom recovery. Next you boot into customer recovery again and do a factory reset and that should do it. Let me know if that helps.
