help - fastboot reason: flash failure - Motorola Atrix HD

hi, i have a problem:
i tried to unlock my boot loader and instal a recovery (specifically the PhilZ Touch Advanced CWM Recovery), apparently the unlock did't work, i did not see that and i proceeded to install the recovery, the device reboot on the AP fastboot flash mode and says:
Device is LOCKED. Status Code 0
Battery OK
Connect USB
Data Cable
Fastboot Reason Flash Failure
now when always i press the button on, the device boot on the AP fastboot flash mode.
I can boot normally acceding to the boot menu pressing the 3 side buttons (+/- on) , but i want to solve that problem because i really want to unlock the boot loader
help please and thanks
(sorry for my english)

How did you try to unlock your bootloader?
Sent from my ATRIX HD using XDA Free mobile app

First off, would you kindly give us more information? We need to know what method you used to unlock your bootloader, your operating system, and your phone's original carrier to fully assist you. As it stands, you best bet is to ensure you have to correct drivers for adb and fastboot, then use RSDlite or Mythtools to flash the correct fastboot file to your phone.

I use the motopocalypse method for unlock the bootloader (but apparently didn't work), i have jelly bean and orignally is from nextel (mexican carrier) but a change it to telcel (also mexican)

Have you tried reflashing the stock jb Mexican sbf files? You can find them in the help and troubleshooting section.

there is no problem if i try to flash it when i have the bootloader locked?

You can flash stock roms even when bootloader is locked....
Sent from my ATRIX HD using XDA Free mobile app

can i flash it whit myth tools? (sorry for the noob question)
edit: i download the stock rom and extract the recovery, i flash it with myth tools and now everything is ok
Tthanks for the help

another problem
now i tried to unlock the boot loader but before the process start, in the console appears the message "TrustZone Write Failed -11"
exist a solution for that?

Can't recover my N1

this is what i tried to do: wanted to flash a new rom from my original froyo. read through the guide and got it rooted and installed rom manager and in turn installed recovery. booted into recovery and made a backup. tried installing a rom but it wouldnt let me so at the end installed RA recovery instead. i was able to flash a different rom. mpw tried to boot to recovery to get stock rom it display just the android and exlamation mark.
i can get into bootloader but in recovery wont show a thing as if it lost the recovery program.
tried installing sdk but adb wont see the phone.
SDK version 9, windows vista
Any ideas?
You have the stock recovery...
Read the wiki. Follow the guide for unroot/restore, using passimg method and FRG33. Start again rooting (though you probably want to read a bit more first, and make sure you can connect via adb and fastboot BEFORE you mess with stuff)...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
issue is i cant connect through adb or fastboot since i dont have the debug mode before it all went
You don't need adb or fastboot to follow the unroot/restore guide. I was simply suggesting that you make sure it works before you try and root again.
Unroot/restore.
Get adb and fastboot working.
Play with phone.

how can i get adb/fastboot working. i went through the guide and dozens of other websites.
adb doesnt see a phone connected even though under device manager it shows an android device.
Install the drivers when in fastboot mode, and you'll have fastboot. It's not adb.
fastboot won't help you unless your bootloader is unlocked. adb you won't get, unless you install a ROM and enable debug, or install a custom recovery - which, again, you won't be able to install without unlocked bootloader. adb doesn't work in bootloader mode, you should have found that in at least one of the "dozen guides".
So, you have 2 options:
1) you have unlocked bootloader or you want to unlock bootloader - in that case, enter the bootloader, connect usb, install fastboot drivers, install custom recovery with fastboot.
2) you don't want to unlock bootloader - then follow the correct advice given to you in danger-rat's posts above.

ok problem solved and thanks. all along the dll file for fastboot was in platform-tools instead of tool within the sdk hence why fastboot never worked. unlocked the bootloader and recovered my old image. incase anyone else have this issue.

[Q] Stuck in Locked Bootloader

I managed to get myself stuck in a locked bootloader with no way to get back into android or flash a rom from recovery. Would I be able to flashboot a .img file from being bootloader locked or will I have to run the RUU.
I am only saying this because I can't get windows 8 to find my phone even with the drivers installed. I am guessing it has something to do with being USB 3.0 and on a MBP. The only way I can seem to get fastboot to work is in OS X, Wine hasn't been able to run past the initial loading screen so that idea was shot. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Unlock the bootloader..if memory serves me correctly you only need to be in fastboot for that. Once you're done with that, flash your corresponding RUU (since you don't have s-off and supercid).
Or you could flash recovery by putting it in the same folder as adb and typing "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" and go from there.
And lastly just factory reset from bootloader..that could also work

Boot Loop When Flashing ROMs

Hey guys I'm not exactly experienced with troubleshooting these kinds of problems. Hopefully I can learn something with the help of the community. I'll go ahead and lay out the situation and problem.
Problem:
Whenever I flash a rom with CWM, the phone will either A: Get stuck on a blank screen with the green LED on or B: Go through the boot animation and crash on "preparing android" and loop the process.
Info:
My AT&T Atrix HD has an unlocked bootloader, I have had several successful flashes in the past, and they have all worked well. I am able to flash the stock firmware back to the phone and it will load just fine. I have tried to go back to stock and start over, but I keep getting the same result. I've tried multiple roms with no change. This started happening when I was trying to load HoloBlur X according to the directions. It went through the whole installation in CWM without errors, but boot looped until it went dead. I did format and clear all the caches and all that too.
I'm not really sure what I'm missing here. I just hope someone might have a suggestion for me.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Absolutely positive.
I unlocked using the Motopocalypse method, and have rooted using Motochopper with the Mythtools tool.
does cwm say that it cannot mount the cache after flashing the rom
Safestrap VS. CWM

Are you using a version of Safestrap recovery or are you ABSOLUETLY positive that you are using a custom recovery? Most newer ROMs (4.1 and up) usually require you to use a custom recovery.
I'm sure he knows the difference between the 2.

If you indeed are positive that you flashed the correct custom recovery, then follow these steps to fully Wipe, Restore to stock, and reflash.
Please read all of these steps before attempting to follow them!
** Note: I am not responsible for any damage done to your phone by following these instructions. **
Charge your device to a reccomended 80% (at least)
Make sure you have a Windows computer
Download the latest USB drivers from Motorola
Boot into your current recovery and make a nandroid backup, just in case.
Boot your device into Fastboot by powering off device and holding the Power+Volume Up+Volume Down and scrolling using the Volume Down button.
Plug your device into your computer
Download Fastboot if you don't already have it. (A simple Google search should result in a download link)
Type "fastboot erase data"
Type "fastboot erase cache"
Type "fastboot erase system"
Type "fastboot erase boot"
Type "fastboot reboot"
All of these commands should pass without conflict.
Your phone should reboot, but have no bootable OS. Don't panic if you get this error. Just manually power off your device and put it in bootloader mode once again (Power+Volume Up+Volume Down).
After that, follow these steps to flash to stock.
Download and install RSD Lite 6.1 here : www.mediafire.com/?3ckiknmwcpjolb2
Download the correct Fastboot Package for Jellybean here: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/dinara/list.php -- It should be MB886_att-user-4.1.1-9.8.0Q-97_MB886_FFW-20-27-release-keys-ATT-US_BuildA.xml.zip for 4.1.1 Jellybean on AT&T.
Make sure your phone is in bootloader mode with the directions in the first set of instructions and select Fastboot flash mode.
Open RSD Lite and select the downloaded Zip file in the box at the top.
Your device should appear at the list view towards the bottom of the screen. Click it and the "Start" button should be clickable. Click start and wait.
Wait for RSD Lite to say success and do not unplug it until the phone COMPLETELY BOOTS UP.
After all of this, you can now root, unlock bootloader, flash CWM, and install your custom rom. This should take care of any bootloops while installing Custom ROMs.
Click the thanks button if I helped!
PM me if you have any problems during this so I can help!
lol no, I'm not using a safestrap. I'm using a CWM Recovery.
I will give the rsd method a try tonight. thank you guys for all the help so far. luckily i have another phone to use in the meantime.

Okay. Make sure to tell us the results! Good luck!
I had very similar problems because I unwittingly attempted to flash the wrong cwm recovery file... which seems to have affected the Boatloader behaviour. I made it to #6 of the RSD steps in the help offered by lucasantarella (I was using RSD Lite 6.1.4), but the flash fails with:
Model Port No. Port Type IMEI / ESN / MEID Status Progress Result
Fastboot QINARA S 1 USB N/A Failed flashing process. Unknown fastboot command. (getvar) FAIL
Here's the complete story on the phone:
Brand new Factory Atrix HD, 4.1.1.
Installed MythTools (V1.1) on Windows XP and downloaded the USB Motorola Drivers
Used MythTools to unlock the bootloader
Installed superuser-4.3-beta2.zip
Installed ROM Manager 5.5.2.0 (which I can't use until the customized CWM for AHD is installed)
Downloaded mb886-cwm-6.0.3.6-touch-recovery-flashable-signed.zip
Using MythTools, I selected the wrong recovery file (selected a stock cwm instead) which failed to flash,
and the bootloader is now reporting a Flash failure. Here's the entire screen:
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)
10.9B(*) (sha-2e68372, 2012-11-17 23:33:08)
eMMC Info: Size 8GB
Device is UNLOCKED. Status Code: 3
Battery OK
Transfer Mode:
USB Connected
Fastboot Reason: Flash Failure
usb connected
When I power it down and then hold the vol + and - together, I get the following menu:
Boot Mode Selection Menu (10.9B)
Vol Up Selects, Vol Down Scrolls
Available Boot Modes:
Normal Powerup
Recovery
AP Fastboot
Factory
BP Tools
Selecting any of those puts the AHD into the stock AT&T 4.1.1 normal screen and its ready for use.
Using Myth Tools to "Reboot normally" (option A) does the same thing as Option B, "Reboot to fastboot mode", which puts me back into the fastboot screen showing "Flash failure".
It appears that I'm locked to 4.1.1... because of Bootloader problems.
Any comments/thoughts/insight? It's been a year since I did any flash/RSD work and have poured over the various pages/threads on the AHD for the last three days... Apparently I didn't read enough...
Am currently using a Motorola Bravo running the CyanogenMod-72-20120506-NIGHTLY-Kobe and was hoping to migrate up to the AHD.

If you're trying to wipe user data/do factory reset through fastboot, try "fastboot -w". Also are you using the snapdragon fastboot?

[Q] Unable to access Fastboot mode

I read through many threads and have followed the official Sony bootloader unlocking instructions. I have requested and received the unlock code from Sony via email. I have downloaded the inf file and placed it in the correct folder in Android SDK (which I also updated). But I am cannot access fastboot mode, I hold down Vol + and plug in the USB cable but the device shows a red led and goes into charging mode. Also the PC never prompts me to install fastboot driver it simply loads the SP as Sony mass storage device (in device manager).
I have read that some people seem to think that the SIM lock affects the ability to access fastboot but this SP is SIM unlocked. Sony's official guide to unlocking the bootloader says I need to access fastboot mode to enter the unlock code but how can I unlock the bootloader if I can't get into fastboot mode?
hmmm... don't know really... i once entered fastboot mode by mistake, while trying to root stock rom. wasn't reading instructions and put device in a fsatboot mode instead of debugging... was on stock rom so don't know if custom rom would let me do that. should check myself... if anything i know it is possible to get me that blue light shining.
To enter fastboot mode in Xperia SP just power down the phone and hold down the volume up key while pluging your phone into your pc
If you need flashmode do the same thing but with the volume DOWN button held down.
I´ve got the same problem. I can´t enter in flashmode neither in fastboot mode. I´m on windows 8 32bits and I installed the .245 Deodexed ROM with a problem on root and without CWM. I don´t know what to do now, please help me.
As I explained in the first post, I understand how to access fastboot mode (and flash mode). I got root and backed up the TA partition, the stock apps (from 1.257) and backed up the stock ROM. Then, after I wasn't able to get into fastboot, I have installed CWM for LB and flashed a custom ROM based on 2.245. I am able to enter flash mode but not fastboot. As I said before, the phone is SIM unlocked but is acting like it came from a carrier, with locked bootloader and fastboot disabled. How can Sony disable fastboot? I don't get it. Any one want to take a guess how long I will have to wait until some clever dev finds an exploit?

Sorry for that i dont think that it is your computers fault because you enter fastboot (and flashmode) using your mobile phone NOT your PC
So i would roughly assume that this is a Rom bug or something in the flashing proccess went wrong.

Thanks for trying to help, but I understand that flashmode and fastboot are accessed using the phone. Actually the phone needs a piece of software like flashtool to keep it in flashmode otherwise it drops into charging mode. I didn't mention my computer so I don't know where you got that from.
As I explained, I am unable to access fastboot with stock ROM (1.257) and a custom ROM (based on 2.245) so it can't be a ROM bug or the flashing process having gone wrong.
if it's not too much of a trouble for you, go and flash .245 stock, than .257 stock kernel only. like you are trying to root it for the first time, complete rooting procedure, and than proceed on to installing CWM, but instead of connecting device in debugging mode to install CWM, try and see if you can put it in a fastboot. this was exactly the moment when i accidentally put mine SP in fastboot. of course, i'm not saying to go ahead and install anything if you score, but only to confirm if you can put your device into a fastboot mode since installing anything without CWM will likely soft brick your device.
Same problem here, i can't do anything using flashtool after flashed 2.245. I did with SUS, maybe is some flashtool issue.

It may be a flashtool problem you are right because 2 incidents with different Roms that both use flashtool to flash those roms.....
its pretty much self explenatory.

Interesting. Ok, I've read up on the process. So I use the various stock .ftf files and flashtool with the phone in flash mode? Bear in mind that kernel didn't allow fastboot when I used it with the stock .257 ROM the device came with. If I do it, I will nandroid backup first, of course, but I think I remember reading in one thread that someone managed to soft brick their XSP doing this very thing.

that's why you need to complete rooting procedure. root stock 1.257 kernel, than back to stock 2.245 with root preserved, and before you would install CWM try to put device in a fastboot mode, this assuming you still have a UB.

All that happens is that the terminal session ends and closes (not FC) the terminal app. Using the same command via adb just does a standard reboot.
i just placed my in a fastboot mode, no problems whatsoever. do you have drivers for the device installed? you will find these in flashtool installation folder.

Yes. The fastboot_with_android_usb_file.rar package specified on DooMLoRD's bootloader unlocking/relocking appears to have been removed and there are no new links in that thread. So, I found and installed the drivers included with the flashtool. But it seems to be the device that is the problem. It is acting like a carrier locked model. I am rapidly starting to believe that this one has a locked bootloader.

Hi, I have some similar issues. I've also been flashing some stuff and whenever I try to go to fastboot it just boots into CWM. Very annoying to say the least. The dark blue light goes on when i hold down volume up and for a short moment I see the fastboot driver installing on my computer. But before it completes it's already in CWM.
Not sure what to do from here on wards, maybe some advice on which kernel to flash? I am pretty sure the latest kernel I flashed is the .254 root kernel from doomlord.
Ps. I really would like to flash CM when it becomes available as nightly
Thanks in advance!

I had already installed cm10.1 jb for my xperia ion.
Now i tried to install cm11 kitkat for my xperia ion.
Every thing is gone good.
But now got stuck up with a problem.
fast boot mode is active only for 5 seconds while connecting my xperia ion to System with flash tool.
help me to do the need ful.
Guide me to download compatible drivers and flash tool for fast booting process.
If you have UNLOCKABLE bootloader, then you dont have a FASTBOOT mode on your phone. Its just pure luck. some phones dont have it... kind of a sony crap... I also happen to be one of those LUCKY ppl. no unlock, so stuck with Stock kernel forever.
When you connect your phone to Flashtools in FLASHMODE...
See for a string BOOTLOADER: NOT_ROOTABLE.... it means you belong in the lucky group...
If it says rootable, then you're doing something wrong.
Pardon me if i read something incorrect. i skimmed through all the posts before posting.

Recovery doesn't work

Hi, this is my first post on this forum.
At the beginning I'm sorry for bad English, I am using the translator.
I have a lenovo k3 note and everything worked as it should have, until it returned from China (I sent it there, then I received a reply that the screen is damaged, do I decided to fix it here, in Poland).
Currently, I cannot install CWM or TWRP. I tried to do it in many different ways. When the phone turned off, I hold volume buttons and power, but then it showed me a message at the bottom of the screen: fastboot mode.
I tried to install twrp or CWM using adb commands. I was just trying to run recovery using commands. I also tried different versions of recovery using flashtool and the result was the same. Three buttons and a message about fastboot mode.
I can install new rom using only flashtoola and I did it. I currently have K50a40_S427_160518_ROW, android 6.0.
I read somewhere that I can have a locked bootloader. I tried the command fastboot oem unlock by adb but it did not work.
Please give me a hint or tell me what to do step by step, and I will still try to properly install twrp.
Thank you in advance.
