[Q] Benefits of a possible 3.0 ICS/CM9 Kernel

So Guys,
on many places has been mentioned that there is/will be some devs who take a look on a possible future 3.0 Kernel for our tabs with ICS/CM9. As I am an "experienced noob" (my special word for "power-user ;-)) and not a dev, please could somebody enlighten me what benefits such a 3.0 Kernel would bring us? Performance? Features?
Thanks for your answers...
If allowed in forum rules (dunno for shure) you can discuss related stuff in here as well from my side.
Which kernel are you referring to??

Afaik there is no such kernel yet, as I said, but some devs are working on (humberos?!)

So then why has it got a version number of 3.0? Which other kernel are you referring to if there has been a v1 & v1?
Or are you confused and referring to Android 4.0?

Not confused... go to your devices details and you will see what I mean in kernel version...
Yeah, like in Linux, kernel version was 2.4 on the old days, then 2.6
For last decade, then now 3.0.
In Linux the 3.0 includes some android codes I think.

I don't think this would directly affect us users (or as you say it "experienced noobs"). More likely affect kernel builders (efficiency and compatibilities). Please correct me if I was wrong.
first we need the leaked ICS rom from Samsung and then Samsung releases the kernel source code. No doubt this will be the version 3.0 of the kernel.
Kernel 3.0 brings many benefits to users because many optimizations are included

What are the newest most stable rom releases?

Hi
I must say I am a bit disconnected from the Android world since I get to university and I must ask how all have evolved. I'm looking for the newest most stable custom roms at the moment of this post. I think it would be a good idea to maintain a post like this to keep track of what roms have reached a stable, proven state without having to dig too much.
Cheers!

Well there's the RC4 build (release candidate 4) of cyanogen mod 10.1 that's quite good. Its based on android 4.2.2.
Take note that you should ask questions in the questions section and ROM discussions are generally frowned upon so do venture into the development section to learn more about them.

OOPS!! I forgot the Q&A section totally. I would like to move this post or delete it but I don't see how I should do it. The Edit/delete button just drives me to the edit section and I don't see any way of deleting the post.
No worries, a mod will lock or move this thread eventually

I recommend roms with Mackay kernel, they are often stable and durable in battery but less powerful than Devil kernel. By the way, no one has moved or deleted this post yet =))

I notice the kernel you use in that build is still 3.0.64
I thought a big part of 4.4 was the new 3.8 kernel, can I ask why you still have the earlier kernel?

Android 4.4 includes a 3.4 kernel, kernel for Note are working so so good so I donĀ“t think 3.4 or 3.8 is needed for the moment

recomended kitkat version

Hello,
i want to try a 4.4 release in my s3 mini, but i am confuzed with all this verions.
Who is the most stable version?
Also what about battery usage and the speed and lags?
have someone compare this things with the stock release?
Can i have something faster and with longer battery? Or it is more slow but with latest android features?
Thanks

Let me also add something to that. The 'which one is best' kind of threads aren't allowed either. Just remember this for next time

I have tried all the solutions for installing sim tool kit but unfortunately still its unable to install.\
Can you provide a stk.apk for this custom ROM and a brief tutorial for installing into system directory.

Hi,
Redmi Note is MTK based device hence expect least development over such devices has MTK Based Chipset Development is least due to fact that no Kernel sources and MTK are not developer friendly whereas Redmi 4G is Qcom based device hence developer friendly but until sources release its still long way to go
Not yet
no friend, random reboot is still there, I am still facing it.
