So I have an annoyance that I wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing. I recently got a Pioneer AVIC-8100NEX head unit that has android auto built in. When I am using a stock based ROM, the android auto works fine. When I am running a CM/AOSP based ROM, the picture is like zoomed in and is totally unusable. I can even run a stock based ROM with custom kernel and it runs just fine. I am currently running meanpop with code blue kernel and it works fine, I just miss a lot of the features of the other Roms that I can't get it to work right on.
EDIT: I Have narrowed it down to any rom that has naitive DPI changing functionality built in will cause this issue.... I am fairly certain that is the issue....
Roms that work:
Stock
MeanPop
Sinless
CleanROM
OptiPop
They look like this on the head unit (how they should):
{

}
Roms that do not work:
CM12.1
Chroma
Euphoria
Resurrection Remix
Benzo
BlissPop
Temesek 5.1
They look like this on the head unit (YOU HAVE TO BYPASS THE DISCLAIMER VIA ANDROID AUTO DEVELOPER SETTINGS TO GET HERE):
Anyone experiencing this as well or know what the heck the issue could be??? I kinda think it might be an easy fix for someone that knows that they are doing (not me!).
Thanks in advance!
Pure Rom doesn't seem to work either. I was hoping Blisspop worked. Any news to why some roms are not supported? Really sad to see that Android Auto is not all it was hyped to be. Only supports certain phone's and few custom Rom's.

I have figured out that any rom that has native DPI changing do not work. The only AOSP rom that I can find that currently works is OptiPop which is what I am currently running (it does not have built in DPI changing). I can still change the phones DPI in terminal and it displays on my stereo just fine....
gah, I've been having this issue, but with no solution. I have an LG G3, which of course doesn't work with AA. So I installed CM12.1 after reading somewhere that it would work. Of course, as you know it doesn't.
Now I've been trying to find a ROM that will work with the G3 and AA, but can't find any definitive answers.
I'm using lg g3. Using official cm12

https://download.cyanogenmod.org/ maybe?
you'd think, but all the nightlies older than a few days just 404.
So is the issue you are seeing where you can get into Android Auto but can't click on items on the screen or like I am having when I connect my N6 I get a red screen on my phone saying this device is not supported.
If its a DPI issue can't you change the DPI as a work around?
Any idea why my device is "Not supported" Nexus 6 Pure Rom 5.0.1 GPS 7.3.29.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
it doesn't matter what DPI you change it to, the result is the same.
Thanks for the info. More and more disappointed with Google. They promote different but the same and reduce fragmentation but nothing has really changed. Seems like "the next version of Android" is always going to be the holy grail but it's more of the same.
Actually a DPI of 120 works on my phone, but that makes the phone unusable
I have the same issue. CM12.1 Can't use AA. Going back to stock.
Had the same issue on my OnePlus One with BlissPop. Had to load the OnePlus's OxygenOS to get it working. Guess I will roll with that until a better fix comes out.
What about a tasker command to change the dpi upon launching the AA app?
I am not much of a tasker guy, so I wouldn't know where to begin...
CM 12.1 not working with AA
Any word from anyone if this is being worked on?
Never mind. I just installed the latest CM nightly 5-31 and it works fantastic.
FYI - It seems they have reverted the change in a recent CM12.1 patch and the screen now shows correct.
After dealing with Bluetooth issues on kitkat I said I would never use CM. Looks like I'm going back. I'll post next week if it works.

woohoo! The 5/31 CM12.1 nightly as finally cured my Android Auto blues. I have an LG G3, but I assume they've made similar changes across the board.
mine works great now.

Oxygen v2.3 was released today. Check it out at the Oxygen forum:
Link updated for 2.3.2:
http://forum.oxygen.im/viewtopic.php?id=1476
"Well ICS is only around the corner now but Google has decided to drop the code for 2.3.7 GWK74 before it's release, this update mainly just brings a number of bug fixes to Android.
Work is still ongoing behind the scenes to bring new features to Oxygen which you will see in the next version, however for now we have applied the latest upstream patches and also updated Superuser to v3.0, the Theme Chooser is now gone as we have no plans to port support for it to ICS."

Improved media scanner, now scans all external volumes (/emmc & /sdcard)
Removed FM support
Removed useless wallpapers consuming 6.5MB
Reverted back to old battery percentage

I have nothing to do with this ROM, just alerting XDA folks of the update. Oxygen is one of the most stable Nexus S ROMs out there.

Well, I should qualify my statement: You can't just go flashing any ROM on any phone of course You need the hardware drivers and radio for your phone model. But that is separate from Android or Android version.

Open voice dialer app and say "Open apns" it's gonna take you to the Apn menu. Select the lte Internet apn(hit the selector) and lte should come back. Same thing with 3g....if it goes away then select the Ehrpd Internet Apn.
Also in a Launcher like Nova you can setup a shortcut to the Apn menu.

Just check your cpu frequency after you boot and sign in. Sometimes the low frequency locks at max and burns up the cpu. Just set It to its lowest and you wont kill your phone.

I still use mine every day. Currently running texasice's evervolv 4.4 ROM p2.
Mine has pretty much been reassigned as a music streamer to my sound bar, and occasionally app testing. I put the evervolve kitkat rom on it yesterday, and I can't believe how well it still works without even overclocking. It is a well made phone.

I'm running the latest Evervolv KitKat ev_passion-testing-2013.12.08-squished. Texasice is a genius. I had vijendra's, and was pretty happy with it in spite of the problems, but, now, I'm thrilled with KitKat. There's no comparison. If you're careful with your configuration, it's speedy and stable. Also, I've run across a couple of apps that caused random reboots, namely Google Voice and Greenify. But, I'm running almost all of the same apps as I am on my N5. Miraculous.

Up until a couple of weeks ago I was still using my Nexus One as my daily driver. It was my first and only smart phone up until that point. The most current ROM I was using was the Pixeldroid port by tommypacker (fantastic ROM, by the way).
However, I felt the phone was starting to show its age so I retired it. It is now back to running CM 7.2 and being used as my music player in my car. I couldn't bear to toss it in some drawer somewhere to be forgotten, so I'm glad I still get some use out of it.
My loyal old Nexus One is now my girlfriend's daily driver.
(i'm using a N4)
I'm about to order a moto x for me and a moto g for my wife but using my trusty n1 in the mean time. KitKat is wayyy more than i ever thought this thing would last until and still run smooth!

In the video it shows cm 10.1.3 being flashed in CWM first before a custom sailfish cm 10.1.3. This means that Sailfish will be 4.2.2 Android Jelly Bean, not Kit Kat. Also, Sailfish does not have access to the Play Store but I think once released, if Gapps are flashed it should work, in a similar way to how MIUI works as miui does not have access to the play store but flashing gapps does allow it. Furthermore, SU zip may work when released because it is Cyanogenmod based.
One last thing, from what I can see, there will be no softkeys, it is gesture based but if root works properly then pie and other mods might work (just guessing)
A blog noted the following from the video:
We are not sure what’s working or what doesn’t work yet. All we know is that the battery percentage is shown 0% and that normally means that we are in a very early stage. Also the antenna bar is empty but maybe there’s no SIM card inside.
There is also a slight bug with the notification area, which will be fixed with a resolution match.

Here is Some more information on that port. It looks very promising. l must say I'm excited for this development.

Gesture everything?
gesture mode, i think its worth to try. wait for the selfish lol. ah sailfish
Not sure how good it is on sailfish but if you've never used just gestures before, it's a treat. Meego Harmattan was far and away the best UI I've ever used (yes, sorry Android but you've got nothing on it except for apps.)
This definitely is exciting. I could see myself using Sailfish almost exclusively if they get the Yandex app store to work well.
Sailfish is an amazing operating system, which is using QT libraries and a lot of stuff, following the original Linux way. I love all those gestures and I think MeeGo is an extremely usable OS regarding the navigation and the interface. Sailfish is a great improvement over MeeGo, especially if we speak about apps: it's running Android applications. In fact, I've seen a lot of guys saying they managed to run tons of Android applications without issues, including GTA and other games too. I hope Jolla doesn't give up developing it and they release an official port for Nexus 4, 5 and 7. I would love to install this one to my MultiROM as a daily driver, even though it's not being developed officially yet (as I see from the YT channel, it's not official Jolla). So let's cross the fingers so we get it as soon as the developer thinks it's usable
Amazing news!

Well i installed this ROM late last night and i have to say i'm really liking it a lot . Everything is quick and snappy performance wise and there are lots of customisation options. I think this could be my new favourite ROM! Only problems i have noticed is the ringtone preview doesnt work- when your choosing a ringtone there is no preview sound. Also, google play music and appolo wont play any music? Everything else appears fine but i will of course report back if i find anything.

I'm thinking about giving this a try tonight. I have tried both CM11 and Gummy through 8/1 builds and have been frustrated with weaker radio signal strength than stock, inconsistent wifi connectivity and not being able to use GPS for navigation. Can you tell me if these issues are also present in Spirit?

I havent tested this rom as my atrix hd still stuck on jellybeans bootloader. You can also try validus rom which is awesome as well. Give it a shot and tell me if it works.
So far GPS doesn't work for me. I was hoping this had been corrected in CM.

I had just found that and was about to post it.
Thanks!
Now I'm curious as to whether or not the wifi and bluetooth strangeness persists...
Looks like the wifi issue is the same as well. I need more consistency with wifi so I went back to stock for now. So far, Gummy had the best wifi performance but still not great. Hopefully the radio problems will be corrected in later builds.

Totally agreed, this ROM is awesome and I'm sure it's only gonna get better. In addition to the bugs you mentioned, I'm also having trouble regarding the microphone not working when turning speakerphone on and off. I've read that this is a CM issue, but just wanted to confirm that it's also happening here. Nonetheless, great work on this ROM, just hope the microphone issue gets resolves sometime soon.

Any chance we will see a update for this ROM soon? Looks promising but hate committing to a ROM that hasn't seen an update in awhile thanks
