first boot may take some time. can you open the zip and confirm there is a boot.img in the root of the file?
Yes there is a boot image.i let it sit almost 5 mins and it stayed there i pressed the power button and all it does is vibrate the phone.i did this because on my old dna sometimes i would have to push the power button for 2 seconds and it would kick the boot process.

if possible, please extract the meta-inf folder and search for a file named updater-script and upload it somewhere convenient like tempsend so i may review it. the flashable zip was not made by me and i do not have a copy of it because i do not have a fast internet connection. i will have to confer with dip_spit on this issue

if minimals does not boot as well, perhaps you could try this for me...
in TWRP wipe data, system, dalvik and cache 3 times then try to install. the rom is deodexed and if you are coming from another rom some odex files may have remained on your system. this will cause a very long boot process. i need to add this information to the description
do report back please
I always wipe everything 5x's still had same issue as the regular one.if i wipe internal will that wipe twrp too or will i still be able to boot to it

Thank you to all who tested. Now start getting your phones ready for the final build.
Themers:
Check Post #2 for a package of app & framework files. A good majority of the apps are from FRF91 Vanilla Android build so if you have packages that already work with that build then most should work here. Please make sure all packages are compatible. Please use the framework-res.apk provided since it is unique to this ROM. It is much different than the OEM Drodi2 packages.
ROM Developers:
Feel free to use this as a base for your own ROM. Please just respect us and give Matt, Drod and myself the proper credit and a link back to the threads.
History:
Being bored one day and sick of Blur with all the extra services I started to rip the ROM apart. Finally getting it as clean as I can and being forced to have a bit of blur I began a search on how to get rid of it all. I ended up on the MotoDev website to see what I can find when I bumped into the D2 SDK. Shockingly it was a plain vanilla build of Android. I thought why not and tried to boot it up. Ii did ( see first video here[/URL] ) with lots of bugs. The screen res as all off and we had no radio or many other hardware functions. On top of that it ran like a turtle stuck in some molasses. I sent a message of my my buddy Matt4542 and our journey began. From there Drod and I hooked up and now we have this. It has been a long rough week getting this sucker to where it is now. It was fun, frustrating and we nearly killed each other a few times but all ended well since we have a great finished project..
We kind of built AOSP ROM by hand. Some may say it is not a true AOSP ROM but it is. There is no difference between this build and a true AOSP ROM besides any tweaks that the developer may add when creating a ROM from source. We had no choice to do it this way since Moto locked us out of the bootloader (for now and next project). Many of the apps are built from source. About 90% of the app folder is built from source. We added some packages from the DX that are a bit better and required for hardware reasons. There is NO Blur left in the ROM but for a moto-res.apk file that is required by the framework.
I want to thank Drod2169 for taking this up with me. Thanks man!!!
Drod did most of the work on the DX version after we laid out the foundation together. Glad he approached me so the DX users are able to enjoy this too!
Also, thanks to everyone else who tested the beta and RC1. Was great working with Drod! Good luck on your Rubix version!
Hope you guys with a DX enjoy this. I do not have a DX yet but would love to get one to develop this even further.
What will this ROM do?
It will give you a true Android Vanilla experience much in the same way the Original Droid (OD) did. It is not loaded with bloatware and everything functions as it should. Facebook will sync with your contacts and you will not have all of your memory being used by wasteful stuff on top of much more. Your phone will run more smoothly and feel a lot faster.
What can you do to help?
The most important thing is to provide feedback. When reporting bugs please be clear and with detailed explanation. Do not say this does not work and leave it that. The more feedback you provide will make it easier and quicker for us to kill any bugs. You may also give us a small donation to help with our continuing development of ROM and *POSSIBLY* get this bootlader cracked. It cannot be done with one device. I have a couple of friends who have experience with low level programming of chips and with their help maybe it can get done. They are Blackberry guys and not going to buy a device just for this. This is nothing more than a promise that it will be tried. I cannot say when and IF it can be done so please keep the questions to a minimum about it. If the project takes off then I will have updates. You can donate to the project by clicking HERE.

Voodoo Kernel, enabled by default.
This began as an AOSP build, that kept an AOSP-ish feel,
but took on a life all its own. I give you:
Loki
New build is just over 119MB in size. I removed a lot of items to conserve space and
streamline this build, and so far the performance as a driver is off the chain. If something
is not included, its by design. You can add things back in as you wish of course, but if its
not in the build, its not in the build.
Whats Included
-KB1 base, doedexed by Whitehawkx - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=937494
-Lots of thanks to jumaaneface, birgertime, jellette, and Whitehawkx for help with the framework modifications

-KB1 Modem (my gps has never been this good)
-Lock Screen Options and Power Mod Menu, from Whitehawkx: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=926271
-AOSP like custom theme, including some apps. More to come in the future.
-Rooted, with Superuser and BusyBox 1.19.0
-AOSP versions of Calendar, Calculator, Email, and MMS
-Desk Clock
-Modified Camera from Eugene373: http://eb-productions.proboards.com/index.cgi
-Launcher2
-Gingerbread Keyboard
-Miui Music (themed)
-Rom Manager
-Titanium Backup
-Spare Parts
-Gtalk
-GalaxyS Boot Screens
-Zipalign on boot
-build.prop modifications to set the default sounds for ringtone, notification, mms, email,
calendar sound, and alarm alerts.
-No Bloat, No Touchwiz
-Removed WiFi calling with additional edits to the build.prop and removing the proper
lib files, in order to install WiFi calling, must flash the file below that will restore the
build.prop and libs.
-Removed additional lib files for Swype, MobiTv, and the Samsung Keyboard to
further streamline the build, if you wish to install those, the libs are all contained in the
build.prop and lib restore flashable linked at the bottom of the OP.
This rom is still screamin'.

Definetly continued. Brick'd did a great job with this rom. Sorry thing kind of spiraled out of control. It was never my intent to be a participant in the madness of the other thread. Its no longer a matter of whose right or wrong so I want to take this opportunity to say "im sorry for the part I played in this. I never thought it was worthy of so much attention from the start. Brick'd if you look in the other thread before things got off track you'll note that it was only posittive vibes given by me concerning your work. Once again it takes. A real man to apologize so my apologies to you brick'd for any misunderstanding we may have had. Keep up the good work! Peace

Kernel Manager released! Lite (free): http://tinyw.in/0i8, Pro (cost): Available in the Market...ENJOY!
Hey everyone! I wanted to introduce a new app with a very simple but ambitious goal: create a place where all kernel developers can submit kernels easily and reach a much wider audience with ease.
The app currently does this:
1) Downloads a kernel from our fast and stable teamwin server
2) Unzips the relevant files (modules included)
3) Flashes the kernel
4) Installs the kernel modules
5) Clears cache/dalvik-cache
6) Reboots to apply the changes.
This entire process takes less than a minute, generally, (depending on download speeds of course ), and it is extremely simple for end-users to find a kernel, filter by kernel features (BFS, CFS, HAVS, SBC, etc) download/install kernels, and submit ratings for their favorite kernels.
If you use IRC, join us in freenode in #kernel-manager!
In order for this to be a success, we need support from kernel developers like YOU! Submitting a kernel to Kernel Manager is totally free and we even provide hosting for you! Right now I'm looking for kernel developers to submit kernels to start populating the app. Submitting kernels is easy!
THE LINK IS FOR KERNEL DEVELOPERS SPECIFICALLY! Go to http://kernels.teamw.in and register for an account! Once it's approved, you can easily enter new kernels, which immediately show up in the app. The app will be released in the market, and there will be a free+ad supported version, and a for-cost version that removes the ads.
Right now, we have a specific list of supported phones, but plan to add every nand-unlocked phone as soon as possible. (There are a lot of variables to account for on multiple devices to make sure the process works )
Please feel free to provide me with any feedback you have, or feature requests in order to make this a great tool for all of android to utilize!

Sweet! Will be on the look-out for this! This more than likely be a companion to RomManager one day!
This looks very good!
I've been waiting for something like this to come out since I have zero coding skills. Great job and good luck.
where to download?
But, as always, how can we be sure third parties aren't adding a little nasty extra, such as a backdoor?
I prefer to get my kernel from the dev I've learnt to trust.

You can be paranoid, but until they give you a reason to be, don't... You don't worry about the stuff coming from team CM do you? They can do FAR worse with building an entire ROM! Looking forward to it!
Really looking forward to using this, great to have developers trying to make things better/easier for all the community, and i see this definitely coming in handy!

The netarchy kernels that were posted yesterday were missing something from the zip file. There should be new netarchy kernels in the list that are fixed - they should flash.
NOTE: There's currently an issue with modules not getting copied correctly for nexus s kernels. I have a fix pending soon.
Gonna download it now, thanks for making this. Currently on Netarchy.
Nexus S users rejoice!
The latest market release fixes the bug that made your wifi stop working after flashing! All should work now, and let me know if it doesn't.
I tested this two more times after the update. Note, both times I went into advanced settings and checked clear cache and dalvik cache (well, it was recommended for most users)
First attempt : Was attempting to flash Netatchy CM7 bfs kernel. During flash got an error along the lines of not being able to install on disk due to insufficient memory. I was asked to reboot and try again. On reboot, the phone went into the bootloader by itself with "no boot image" found. Rebooting would repeat this behaviour. Had to restore from CWM.
Second attempt : Same as above but, this time on reboot I got stuck on the Google logo scene. Waited at leas five minutes, did a battery pull; tried again, same result. Once again did a restore with CWM.
With regard to memory, I have around 700 MB of "internal memory " and 4GB of "external " memory.
Counting two before the update that's 4/4 failed attempts to flash a kernel using this app.

What version of busybox is required for this??
EDIT: I updated busybox, and ran into the 'no space' error as well. Rebooting showed that this app dorked up my boot. Luckily I was able to boot to recovery and navigate to sdcard\kernel-manager\netarchy\ and flash the zip manually. This app needs a lot of work..

I'm not going to bore you with some long ass intro.
DevNull is an AOSP source built ROM, it's minimal, it's superfast and mostly bugfree.
This ROM is mostly a stock AOSP build however certain Android bugs have been fixed and a couple of small mods added.
It is developed by us, i.e. AdamG, thalamus, schiznik and me (see the end of post for more details).
Features
Android v2.3.5 (GRJ90) built from AOSP
Linux kernel v2.6.35.13
Minimal Google apps
Superuser
Busybox
Additional features
Adhoc wifi network support
Advanced power menu with reboot and screenshot options
Download any file type
Enhanced auto backlight mod
Facebook contacts sync
Headset Icon
HSPA Icon
Improved widget picker
SIP calling over 3G
Optional text reflow when zooming
Track change with volume buttons
Various other tweaks and features
Installation
A format is required when first flashing this ROM, however, unless otherwise stated, no wipe is needed to upgrade between versions.
Download update-devnull-xxx-signed.zip to your sdcard storage on your Nexus S
Boot into ClockworkMod Recovery through whatever method you choose (ROM Manager, bootloader, ADB etc...)
Back up your existing installation
[First flash only] Use the volume keys and power button to format /data (factory reset)
Select Install Zip from SD Card
Find the update-devnull-xxx-signed.zip file you downloaded earlier
Scroll through all the No's and hit Yes, install update-devnull-xxx-signed.zip
Wait for the installation to finish
Select Reboot
After initial reboot, reboot a second time and you're all set

will give it a try, thx!
Welcome to the ROM scene. Looks like a very nice ROM and must say one of the most organized ROM explanatory post.
Sounds interesting, will probably have to give this a flash

This ROM reminds me of Oxygen! Especially with the thread format. Looking forward to it.

Yeah I saw AdamG made a ROM for the Galaxy S2 named DevNull. Didn't think Oxygen could be even more "lighter" but this will be interesting
Thanks for the ROM!
Glad to see you still at it python

It's working now
Note to everyone: there was an issue when I built the ROM, so I have to rebuild it entirely. It should take about 20min, so please be patient.
One thing I like about CM is the toggle widgets in the notification panel and non-intrusive notification sound, that is the notification sound does not interrupt my music. Are these two features also found in this ROM? I'm currently on stock ROM for its stability, but I really miss these two features.
Good. Waiting on the update. Will the power controls and oxygen settings from 2.3.4 work w this?

Fixed builds are up.
So far really loving the speed of this rom. Any plans on putting in the theme chooser? Or is there a way too?

Looks like a very nice rom!
Here's a few suggestions:
- Remove wallpapers and Live Wallpapers, they take away space and are not necessary.
- Add some menu to the Settings.apk for these:
-- Power Widgets
-- Torch
-- Battery Percentage
Also, what kernel is this using? I assume Netarchy 1.3.9 CFS.

What is King Kang?!?
King Kang is essentially a hybrid ROM - its a mixture of AOKP, CyanogenMod, and ParanoidAndroid, bringing all their customizations to one rock solid and quick ROM. These numerous features combine to create a blend of features not seen anywhere else before. Make the user interface yours with this ROM. Change the DPI the ROM runs at, tweak the interface to your hearts content, while enjoying great battery life and stability. Never before have these features combined to create a ROM as feature-packed as King Kang. Credits for the features goes directly to the teams responsible - AOKP and CM for their respective work, and ParanoidAndroid for their wonderful DPI on-the-fly modifications. Without these teams, this ROM would not be possible.

PLEASE NOTE: I will NOT provide ParanoidPreferences.apk in this ROM zip. The devs of that great ROM have asked that the particular apk NOT be included in NON-PA zips. They put in the work, so I respect their wishes. That being said, I will NOT link the file nor do I want to see it linked here.
To get it, do the following:
Boot into King Kang and set up Gapps
Download Paranoid Android ROM zip
Download Root Browser
Use Root Browser to extract the file from the PA zip
Place it into /system/app
Set permissions to RW, R, R
Reboot

Bugs??:
KNOWN ISSUES:
Videocamera : Use VideoCam Illusion
Slight Lag possible on screen transitions
USB tether
The graphics related issues are due to not having proper drivers to use for this. Don't ask for an ETA on a fix. Moto won't be giving us the drivers, so there is no fix
If you need to report a NEW bug, report it once, and the next TWO people VERIFY it. I don't need everyone reporting same bug 20 times. I you can, provide me the following information:
Version you're using
What type of fwipe you did and what ROM you came from
Have you restored any data from something like Titanium Backup
What app is misbehaving and what you were doing when it started
Logcats<--THIS IS PREFERRED.
If you don't know how to logcat, go HERE and learn. This really nice guy took the time to write out a good how to
When you have a LOGCAT and would like to post it, please go to pastebin and post it in there, then LINK that location in this thread...I don't want to see them posted directly in here.

Way I look at it, these 2 devices (Photon and Atrix) were the ones I started with, so as long as we can make viable roms on it, I'm going to
Pretty Slick so far. Will run for a couple days. Thanks th3bill
Sounds AWESOME
Just waiting for some screens to give it a chance ;3

WiFi not turning on at all for me no matter what configuration chosen during installation and with all possible wipe combinations Pressing WiFi does nothing.
Newest AOKP does not have this issue, running it now.
I installed it over latest cm10 from the bill. Just wiped cache and dalvik. The Rom is running fast and smooth without any issues, every thing is ok including WiFi.
Sent from my MB855 using xda app-developers app
Must be me then....
I think he is saying try AOKP then flash this rom. It's worth a try.
Sent using my Jelly fingers.
I never use WiFi much so I didn't notice. Its borked as stated above.
Other than that nice ROM.
I can confirm, also, that WiFi does not turn on with this ROM. Th3Bill did post in the Liquid Smooth thread that he would be posting a fix for this very soon.
Thanks Th3Bill!!
Thanks for the ROM, nothing to report other than a thanks.

Unless a new build is up, wifi is working for me as normal.
I was able to finally get wifi to work. I installed paranoid android first and then installed KingKang and everything works beautifully - including wifi!!!
