I recently received a Moto X 2014 Pure Edition 32GB. I upgraded from a Moto X 2013 Developer Edition 32GB. Attached is a screenshot of battery so far today. For some reason, cell standby is always draining more than anything, even screen. Yesterday it drained 50% of my battery, however I was unable to take a screenshot before it died. I tried clearing the system cache today and turning off cellular data, to no avail. I don't have a data plan at all but need mobile data on for MMS. I am on Lollipop 5.0. I really need to know if there's any fixes on this issue yet, as it seems to be a major problem. I have scoured the internet looking for an answer and have found nothing pertaining to fixes I haven't already attempted. I just really want to experience the battery life on my new phone to it's full potential. Thanks ahead of time for the help.
SOLUTION: Update Google Play Services to version 7.3.x: LINK
I'm having similar things show up on my Moto X as well. I'm also having google play services up near the top. Was your cell signal weak perhaps? Maybe switching to 3g instead of LTE if you have LTE set as preferred.
I was only without a signal for 4% of the time. I will try changing to 3G and reporting back although I have perfect LTE in my area.
Well, after some time, the 3G vs LTE seems to have possibly helped. I downloaded GSam to try to narrow down the cause. Phone Radio is only 5% of my battery while Screen is 28%. Apps and misc are the rest of it. I think it may just be a glitch in the way Lollipop calculates battery, although I still would like a solution for it.
Check the android os stats also. It may be the one causing the most drain because its keeping awake in the background. From what I understand cell standby stat shows up when you aren't using the phone at all for some time (standby).

Android OS has been awake for 2 hours and the phone has been awake for 6.5 hours.
Here's my stats so far. So I unplugged the phone from the charger 1 am last night. I woke up this morning with 98% battery. So I only lost 2% overnight.

Android os is the culprit in your case. 2 hrs is pretty long. Maybe and app is causing the wakelock along with it. Does your phone get warm at all? My phone does feel slightly warmer once I noticed android os is keeping my device awake for some time. So I usually reboot the phone to stop the wake lock and charge the phone back up.

My phone doesn't get warm at all. The other night I left my phone unplugged at 40% and set an alarm for 7 hours later. I woke up and my phone was dead. Thankfully my girlfriend set her alarm too or I would have woken up late. I'm scared to leave my phone unplugged overnight again for that exact reason. My standby time is awful. I can leave it in my pocket for an hour and it will drain 10%. Is this Lollipop or no? I wouldn't know because I received the phone with Lollipop. Set it up skipping all the Google account stuff just to check for updates, and then wiped again. So I've done one factory reset so far, one cache partition clear, turned off mobile data (and back on after no change), changed from LTE to 3G, and gone through lots of full charge cycles. I still don't know what the problem is...Is the device faulty? I did just receive this phone as a replacement for my faulty Moto X 2013 (battery was bad). Please don't tell me thats the case for this as well.

Which variant is it? I have the at&t one and unlocked it to use for my local carrier and works perfectly. I guess you will have more battery drain if the signal in your area isn't great. Also a rogue app might be running in the background draining your battery. I would also suggest disabling features of the moto x that you aren't using. I only keep the moto display on. Disable the bloatware apps that came with the phone from the carrier.

I have the 32GB Pure Edition. I'm using it with GoPhone. I don't have a data plan. The only apps I've downloaded are Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, and a lot of Google apps (Keep, Wallet, etc). I have disabled the features I don't need. Is 40% drain overnight extreme even with a lot of bloat?
I am having the same issue with Moto x pure edition running 5.1, insane amounts of drain while the phone is idle. about 10% an hour. I'm hoping someone finds a solution

Something might be wrong with 40% drain. Your WiFi was on overnight as well along with account syncing? I usually turn off my WiFi before I sleep and get like at most 5% drain overnight
Sent from my XT1097 using XDA Free mobile app
They were. That might be it. I'll try to turn them off next time and see how that goes.
Root and greenify has worked pretty well for me.
You shouldn't see 40% no. That's way too high, even with data on.
My BT and WiFi are on all the time and maybe through a 7 hour sleep, I'll drop maybe 2% to 5%. I'm concerned there may be a rogue app, I have disabled a lot of system things and google apps and have really cut my usage down. And I'm using the moto display and moto voice thing.
Very strange its that high.
Switching from LTE to 3G seems to have helped more than anything else I tried. Actually lasted through the whole day yesterday.
I've been seeing the same thing over the past two weeks or so. Lots of wake time under Android OS. Not sure what's going on.
This is the kind of crap I'm talking about. Its extremely frustrating.
Even here. Screen usage was only 1:42...that's awful.

I am currently running 5.7.893 rooted and I have been having battery issues lately. The problem is I sit here , 1h 37m off of the charger and the phone is reading 80%. The breakdown looks like this:
Android OS 39%
Maps 12%
Display 11%
WiFi 9%
and a couple other small things.
It seems like my phone is never going into standby and I can't figure out why. I've checked a bunch of things and no luck. If I click the chart at the top of battery info, I see "phone signal" taking a constant drain on the battery.
The only thing I can think of to do is to factory reset the phone and see if that helps.
Any ideas?
I would recommend the Factory Reset. But first, is there a chance it's a battery calibration issue? Have you checked the actual mV reading with an apps such as Spare Parts?
Before you do the reset, make sure the Backup and Restore are checked in the Privacy setting. And then after the reset make sure you check the two options presented about Backup and Restore. These show during the new setup after you enter you gmail info. Also, if not in a 4G area, if possible connect to wifi before you finish the setup as your apps will start downloading automatically. Good luck.
I did try battery calibration first without luck. I just did the factory reset and I'm charging to 100% now. I haven't done the titanium backup restore, because I want to see if installing the apps I use from scratch again will fix it rather than just restoring them.

That's a good idea. Lately I've been letting Google install the apps and then I use Titanium to only restore data to select apps (such as Tapatalk).

Well, now I'm confused. I haven't installed any apps yet after the factory reset. after 2h 50m of just sitting there, it's reporting:
90% still
32% Android OS
20% phone idle
16% display
16% cell standby
10% wifi
looks much better, but does this look right? I would have expected cell standby to be the dominant process.

Having the exact same problem. Seems to be draining battery at the same rate it was before the update (which was supposed to fix battery drain or so I thought). I'm-a try a little experimenting before doing a factory reset (HATE doing them). Right now, I'm theorizing the built-in Google backup process might be responsible because I've never seen so much drain before and I usually turn Google backup off since I use TiBu but forgot to disable it after the update.
In the meantime, I've prepared myself for the battery issues by purchasing the battery dock and an extra battery for three total. Swapping batteries is better than staying tethered to a wall charger so much.
EDIT 1: Looks like that did nothing. Next, I'll try wiping cache (didn't do this when I updated)
EDIT 2: Looks like not much change from wiping cache. Guess I will be trying that reset.
EDIT 3: Looks like I use the phrase "looks like" too much. However, the factory reset appears to have resolved the issue, at least initially. Fired up the phone and Android OS was only 8% of the battery usage after 10-15 minutes. Will check back if anything changes.
Disable push sync on your device.
changing and controlling your sync settings will solve your standby issues and improve your battery life.

I think a better way of looking it this is that your phone isn't spending 32% of its time using the Android OS and only 20% of its time being idle. That's just how much battery they are using. Your phone could be spending 3 hours "idle" and only 15 minutes using the OS and this is how it could read. It's just how much battery each one is using, not how much time each one is spending doing that particular task.

I'm with noosympathy on that one.
A ROM will improve better life but not that much... maybe if you ran it on 3G only, but then again, that is a maybe.
A lot of your battery is used when your phone is syncing.
When connected to 4G, it uses a lot of power trying to get a signal as well.
To help get some more life out of your battery, disable push syncing and notifications.
I set mine to 1 hour because I don't like being bothered for stupid bs.
When your in a place where you know you don't get 4G, turn it off. It is going to try to aquire a 4g signal while running on 3G the whole time draining your battery.
If am out and don't need 4G, I turn it off. It only takes about 15 seconds to turn it back on and have it link up.
Do you really need to be on 4G to play angry birds?
I recommend installing tasker. You can program stuff like this into it.
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium
Maybe I'm weird, but I don't have a need for 4G data all the time. 95% of the time I leave it turned off and battery life is quite nice with the Bionic just riding on 3G. If I'm in a situation where 4G would be useful I'll manually turn it on. Battery life is so much nicer when the radios in the phone aren't constantly fighting for supremacy.
Call it as you will. I leave data off unless I need it for something and when I do use it I only use 3g. Most of the time I'm in a wifi area so I'll just use wifi. Speaking of wifi I leave that turned off also unless I need to use it then I turn that on for the time being and turn it back off when I'm done with it. Other then that I use my phone mainly for texting, and calling when need be. If I'm home I use the home phone to talk, and when I'm at work, I use my cell strictly for text and if you really need me I'll talk to you by office phone. I also leave gps off. I see no reason to leave it on. I tried to post a pic of battery life yesterday but it would not take for some reason.. Like I said. You can call BS all you like. I know what my phone did for the last 30 hrs. Last night I charged it. Downloaded a few apps, and updated some app and played angry birds for awhile last night before I threw it on the charger. Maybe that charge was a fluke. I dunno, but that charge was honestly what I had. Pretty sad to sign up to a forum, look for good info and also try and help out someone else with this phone and give insight and then be called a liar by other folks. Maybe I just won't post anymore. Hope you all enjoy your phones and ROM's. I'll just tend to myself.
Hey everyone!
I got my Note5 near launch day. I love everything about it, except the battery life.
Basically, I am not satisfied. I barely make it through the day with moderate usage. The crux of my problem is idle/standby battery drain.
This has been a problem for me ever since I got my Note5 and even for some of my old phones (M8 on Lollipop).
The Issue: I'm fine with how the battery drains when I'm actively using it. I'm not going to go into much detail about that, but I'm satisfied with how fast I seem to be killing the battery while using it. The part I'm not satisfied with is how much the battery drains when I'm not using the phone. Obviously, this must be an issue with wakelocks. When you look at the screenshot below for Android OS, it is always wake for more than 2.5+ hours in a 15 hour usage period. Now, I'm not sure if that's normal anymore. I don't remember how it was on KK, nor do I know if that's what everyone else is getting.
The Issues Cont: So yeah I have massive idle drain. (I estimated that I get about 1.5-1.6% battery drain per hour. I charged my phone up to 100% and let it sit idle overnight for a span of about 8 hours or so. It went from 100 to 91 during that time). What this means for me is that, I can use my phone less and less because while it sits in my phone, it dies quickly! On GSam, it shows that my battery discharged 38% while the screen was off! Again, I don't know if this is 'normal'. What is everyone else getting?
What I tried: I tried factory resetting. Nope. I tried reflashing the firmware, factory resetting. Nope. I booted into safe mode and left it idle overnight. Still dropped to about 92% or so, IIRC. I actually had the GS6 Edge before the Note5, but I returned it because of the ****ty battery life. Then I inserted my S-pen backward and broke the sensor in the Note5, so I got a replacement. For each instance, I always got crappy battery life. So I am doubting that this is a hardware issue. I tried minimizing the apps installed so minimize wakelocks, but it didn't seem to help.
What I want: Honestly, I just want to be able to use my phone and have it not drain so much while it's in my pocket or on the desk. I want to be able to go into a lecture for a few hours and come out with maybe 1% drain, not 3% or 4%. And I want to do this without rooting. I don't want to trip Knox, and I'm tired of rooting and spending hours tinkering with my phone to get decent battery life.
Attachments: I uploaded screenshots of almost everything I thought would be pertinent. Please have a look and hopefully we can compare results and figure out whether this is normal for a Note5 or not!

Yes there is something keeping your device awake. Rogue app. First guess would be that Facebook messenger app. Look in settings for your running applications, try to limit those to ones you absolutely need using package disabler. If you don't know what's OK to disable, read through the debloating guidelines thread.

Never let Facebook or Games run in the background and MOST IMPORTANTLY disable location services completely. Keep it on a toggle and turn it off until you need it. Always keep it off or Google will ping your location once every minute. It literally halves battery life.

Use the smart manager app to stop certain apps from running in background and restrict background data for apps that don't need it in the mobile data settings.

My battery is amazing and I can say this as I am a battery guru and have spent countless hours trying to squeeze all the juice out of my devices, which includes eliminating wake locks. If you had root you could figure it out, without root you'll have to start un installing apps 1 at a time until it get's better. Also check your exchange accounts.
I assure you something is wrong as my battery life is the best of any phone I've had.

This probably won't be helpful at all as it is a complete shot in the dark, but perhaps you have an app that is trying to get your location continually since you have it off? Maybe try leaving location on. I never turn it off and I've been getting very good battery life on my T-mobile Note 5.

I downloaded the tmobile update that got pushed out the other day and have noticed a significant drop in battery life.
A few people here have reported seeing an increase in available ram, I have not seen that change on my device.
I was previously on OH8 (Stock and unrooted) and would get 24-27 hours on a full charge, with 3-4 hours screen on time with the following optimizations:
-debloater used to disable as many things as possible without breaking features such as picture gallery, contact logs, etc
-disabled as many services as possible in app manager
-Android assistant used to kill-on-startup all non-essential apps that i use but dont need running all the time
-tasker used to shut wifi off when not at home/work
-tasker to turn synch on 2 minutes an hour to update emails instead of always on
-greenify to hibernate as many things as i can (non root)
-bluetooth always off
-dark/mostly black backgrounds
-automatic screen adjustment
-wifi calling + VoLTE disabled
for the update i re-enabled all items disabled with debloater just to try out all the functions, and re-enabled a few (2-3) things in app manager, today my usage at work was VERY minimal compared to a normal day, i would say I used it maybe a 4th as much as I normally do.
I highly doubt undoing debloater made such a significant change to my battery life, but will re-disable everything tonight and report back with results. for the record as of this writing I'm at 19% and it's just been sitting idle in my pocket since the attatched SS was taken
I believe the issue is detectable with the previously mentioned "check cell standby" method. go to battery > battery usage, click on cell standby, take note of total connection time, go back to battery usage and click refresh in the upper right, then go back into cell standby and see if total connection time has increased.
I have wifi calling and VoLTE disabled since learning of the battery drain issue this phones had and it solved the issue (cell standby time would not steadily increase), but after this update it has started increasing even with both items disabled
Also, this will be a good time to mention something I've stated in another thread:
My friend got a S6 (hes with ATT) and weve compared battery lifes at work, By the end of work I was in the 30's and he was in the 50's, I just browse the web lightly while he listens to youtube via his bluetooth headset almost non stop (screen on + bluetooth + data/wifi streaming), The next day he txts me at 2pm "19% left", i had charged that night and was already down to 75%
long story short: he gets up to 50% longer battery life than me on any given day (as I said, I can get around 24-27 hours w/ 4hrs SOT with all the above battery optimizations, he only has a few items disabled in app manager) so there is a significant battery issue with Tmobile's S6.

cell standby should not steadily increase and should not be that high, no.
follow my instructions in OP, if total connection time is increasing you are effected by the issue these phones have. If youre on OH8 or lower you can shut off wifi calling and VoLTE to resolve the issue, if you are on the latest update that came out yesterday, I have no idea how to fix it yet.

Did you download the 9/10 (OH6) update? does cell standby's "total connection time" increase continuously for you with and without wifi calling and VoLTE on?
Check under advanced WiFi settings if the scanning always available option got toggled on after the update.
Mine did and it was causing quite a bit of drain
in my case, latest OTA infact improves the battery life. After OTA, i have rebooted in recovery , and cleared the cache. wifi calling and VoLTE is disabled as before.
update: re-enabling and again disabling wifi calling and VoLTE stopped "cell standby" increasing, the update must just bug it out. However I'm still seeing worse battery life than pre update.
From the battery discussion thread:

I however am still experiencing worse battery life than before the update. 1 hr left at work and ive barely used my phone at all today, 36% left, it's been 8 hours off the charger. Normally id expect to be around 40-65% right now with how little ive used it. (depending on what combination of disabled stuff im trying)
Further more my friend with an att s6 charged his phone saturday n had it off charge since. Didnt use it all weekend until today at work with 20 min charge in car.... Been on bluetooth headset n listening to music/youtube all day. Hes currently at 39%
every day that i compare battery life with him pisses me off more and more. He's probably getting 2x as much battery life as me, without any tweaks or anything. just pure stock.

This is my first time looking at battery since the latest stock update rolled out.
so I havent looked at my battery life since Friday (5 days ago) and this morning I check my phone and the battery is at 94% (charged all day yesterday, was off charger overnight), reported 8.5 hours off charger, that's less than.5% per hour - by far the best battery idle I've seen yet. ( I think prior to this my best has been like 4% an hour)
even more shocking, when going to battery usage it claims that I still have - this blows my mind - 33 hours and some change left before my battery dies!?
Prior to this, my BEST was like 21 hours quoted, with a norm of 13-18.
I have barely used my phone the last 5 days so the usage statistic is scewed a bit, but thats still higher than anything it's ever claimed before.
This friday it will receive ample use, I'll report back with what kind of results I get.
Amen, I'm not the only one who noticed. Also see almost all the old lag is back. I'm so disappointed in Samsung, I've held on to this because I really thought it was the best hardware around...they just needed to fix the software. The update previous to Samsung Pay rollout was 90% there in fixing. Now we're back to where we started from. Full disclaimer, this was the straw that broke the camel's back, I ordered the Nexus 6p
man ever since the update, my battery been not lasting as long as it used to. I used to be able to get thru a 10 hour shift with at least like 30% left. used to love the battery cuz it was considerably much better than my N4. now by the end of the shift, its near dead, if not dead. Another S6 in the family is even worse... its at home all the time on wifi and the battery drains like 10% an hour if not more.
My device is unrooted
Everything was going great until the newest update that came last week. Since this my battery life has gone down hill fast. I feel like I'm back on my G1.
I have two questions is anyone else having this issue at all?
My other question is all my previous phones have had SD card spots so when I reset myphone all my pictures are stored there. If I reset myphone do I lose all my pictures?
Battery life has been good for me on that build and the recent fi build as well. Do you have a secondary battery meter like better battery stats? There is no sd card in the phone so yes that would be lost.
of course you can check why your battery times have dropped.. like maybe a stuck process or a certain app draining battery. im nearly 100% sure its not because of the update, but it can be user related. your signal quality could be worse as well, which will also drain battery faster.

yes
why not use an auto photo backup app like picasa or similar?
you really should be doing this regardless. countless times people have come on here all frantic because something happened to their device and they lost all pics needlessly.

When I feel my phone getting hot or I notice the drain is going on I turn off my phone let it set to cool down or I just straight up restart it.
I live a pretty routine based life, Work, Church, Gym, Home.... So my signal life hasn't changed. My usage hasn't gone up or down....but my battery has since that update.
I do have battery apps to keep an eye on things. Display is number (of course) and number 2 which isn't normal is Android OS.

One thing else I just noticed is my phone doesn't hit deep sleep either
Deep sleep is at 4hrs and 300mhz is at 13hrs

well, what ive found out iver the years that im with android is that battery apps are pointless, and end up using your battery. just check you regular battery usage/stats. nobody uses their phones the exact same way every single time, its impossible. and when you are out, walking around, or driving, your signal quality will change, constantly. and apps, many times they will get a process stuck, and drain much more battery than normal. and then there is google play services, that will occasionally drain lits of battery, especially when its updating itself. in reality, there are numerous other reasons, besides the update, that will make you battery drain quicker. too numerous to list, lol.

my battery also has been going deep underground after last security update! nothing changed in the usage or the number of apps that i keep installed, so the suspect that the drain depends on the update in my opinion is becoming more and more real.
i also keep checking battery's stats and there isn't any anomaly or discrepancy compared to pre-update's stats.
I am in the same boat. I was using about 2-3 percent an hour before the security patch. But since the patch dropped I've been averaging about 10 percent an hour. I have to recharge at least once in the middle of the day. None of my apps changed.
Same here, noticeable difference in battery performance since last weeks update. Only change to apps is I am now using Google fit since last week, thought it was that but battery stats say otherwise.

So last night I backed up all my pictures on my computer and the cloud. Tonight I will reset my phone before bed Ill have a better idea of what it will do tomorrow. It kinda stinks because I have this zooper/launchy/popup widget masterpiece going on my homescreen
Ill report back....
I have noticed the same issue since the OTA patch. Reminded me of my old Galaxy S where it would not go into deep sleep after being unplugged at a full charge without a reboot. I've gone without a reboot and with rebooting since the update and my phone is much better off after a reboot. About 7% per hour lost without compared to about 3-4% per hour lost with a reboot. Pretty consistent usage on a daily basis. Just my personal observation. I'm on AT&T though.
I got better battery life after the update... But then it went back to normal. I was being about 30 to 45 minutes extra SOT but now I'm back to my average times of 4-4:15 hours

Take this for what it is.... I wake up at 545 grab my phone since the update by the time I get to work 7am it would be 96 or below.... I reset my phone last night and the phone seems back to normal at 99%-98%when I sit at my desk..... All apps reloaded and working before bed.....
My N6 is worse off for battery too after OTA update of last week. Seems like Google Services has just gotten a lot more aggressive doing what it is supposed to be doing. I hope Marshmallow will fix this.

Well, mine also loses a lot per hr...and it alsways is the cell interface that is being kept awake over hours of time during a day.
Mainly email and Google services are the apps sucking it off...
Any ideas?
Factory reset and back to normal so far.

Is anyone else having huge issues with battery drain after updating to 5.1.1. I've disabled all the crap, wiped my cache, disabled enhanced LTE. and have minimal apps installed besides stock. Just took the phone off the battery charger. It was at 100% when removed. It's been sitting for 40 min with the screen off. The battery is down to 93% already with 3% being used by Android system, 1% by system UI, and 1% by Android OS. This is nuts. I can't even get through 1/2 a day of regular use. Any ideas?
Big time. My phone isn't going to sleep. My Android System Stay Awake time is more than double my screen on time.
I'm having the same problem. I currently have Location History turned on to get more surveys on Google Opinion Rewards (I could turn that off if I wanted to); and I also know that because I'm not in WiFi during the day, the Lollipop mobile radio active bug keeps the radio awake way longer than it should. It's crazy that I can leave my phone alone during the day and watch it drop ~5% an hour because of the horrible standby behavior.
There is something wrong with your phone or app. I have about 100 apps. No problem here.
This is the international version of the phone

Or it's something to do with the AT&T version of the firmware as yours is an international version and not having issues.

Battery drain issue is related to the AT&T 5.1.1 firmware.

Complaint to att to stop messing with a perfectly fine phone. I haven't turned anything off and that's my idle time.

I guess it might make sense to stay on 5.0.2 in hopes of a future bootloader unlock and to stay away from a potential battery draining bug. If only AT&T would embrace a more open approach to this model phone. I only got this phone because the nexus was out of stock and I was in need of a new phone. My trusty old S3 was a godsend, with its unlocked bootloader and fully open platform. The fact that AT&T is closing up the ability to root the phone is drastic enough, let alone introducing bugs that make you want to throw the phone at the wall (battery drain).
How can I see what is keeping my phone awake without root? It's staying awake 3/4 of the time and below is a shot of my app usage. What I can tell it's a system issue, but not sure. And yes I factory reset twice and wiped cache.
Same here. factory reset cache wipe x2 and have everything non essential disabled. It's driving me nuts! This phone was a rockstar until this update. Going to best buy tomorrow and will see if the Samsung folks can reinstall the update or something. I'll post what I find out.
Battery life is worse than my old s4. The screen barely takes any of it, when it used to be more than half the battery life on my s4. Yet I still get about the same screen on time.
Yup I completely agree. Left my phone at 53% overnight and I woke up to the phone completely drained and dead. It's ridiculous.
I noticed something odd. On wifi, battery life is great, maybe 1% every 2 hours idle. But without wifi, battery life goes down 10% an hour idle.
Finally made it to the Samsung center at best buy. The guy was able to force the update again and everything went smooth. So far maybe a little better, not sure yet. I'll post when I know for sure if it worked and was a bad update.
So after the forced re-do of the update it wasn't any better. List 20% at night with everything off. Dido another factory reset and cache wipe and that seems like it might have fixed it. Only 4% list last. Not as good as it was but definite improvement. Hope this helps anyone else with same issue.

TurboRZR please update... would love to know if that fixed it before I wipe my S6 for a second time.
I too am having an issue with the new 5.1.1 update where my "Android System" is getting stuck in a stay awake loop draining my battery. Sometimes a simple restart will fix it for a few hours, but it will always come back.
I installed wakelock detector and set it up to run on a non-rooted phone. When I pulled the statistics , the biggest battery drain I had under "Android System" was diagnostic.client.network. Nothing else even came close to the drain this resource was pulling.
This was as far as I was able to get as I have no idea what that is or how to disable it if I even should.
I have resolved the issue on my S6 Edge, I even attempted a factory reset which didn't resolve the issue. I had noticed my Wifi usage in GSAM was very high (50-70%) and after some searches I found that someone else posted in a different forum (I think it was the S6 Active forum) that the issue was related to multicast being enabled on wifi routers. I disabled it on my fios router (it's in a hidden menu) and it resolved my drain. I am now at 12 days uptime without a random drain. I also had to disabled Enhanced LTE as that was causing a HUGE drain at times when I didn't have LTE. I hope this helps.
