[Q] Original firmware Xperia Z2 - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I flashed my Z2 with Lollipop with nordic combined (or baltic), and now I see that it is up for more and more regions. I want to flash with the firmware that came with the phone, but I dont know which one was it or if it matters what firmware is on the phone(its unlocked not some market operator stuff). I got a backup, but dont know how to see from that.
On the case that came with the phone got my imei and s/n, and SI 1280-5940.3 AR,FA,EN,FR.
Andone can give me tips how to find out (and if it really matters which firmware is on the phone)?

[Q] Unbranded English/UK ROM

Can someone who has an unbranded Xperia Z with UK FW please dump/create a FTF and post the ROM here?
The only generic FW posted here is from a demo device unfortunately.
Thanks.
I got mine from Carphone Warehouse earlier today and I haven't touched it yet so I might be able to help. Not sure how to make a ftf from it though..

That'd be awesome though it's a bit of work...
The basic instructions are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27031352
Note that doing this WILL re-flash your phone (because the update can't be stopped after it has downloaded) so you may not want to go ahead.
You will also need to use the beta Flashtool for Xperia Z to actually decrypt the files. Then you can load them up in full Flashtool and proceed to make FTF out of it (I think, didn't do this myself, I stopped after decrypting them).
I would suggest not doing this if you're not tech savvy.
+1 for this, im expecting mine to be vodafone branded, that'll annoy me pretty quickly!

In the meantime you can safely flash the French generic firmware posted here. It's full-retail and I've been using it. As all firmwares in this part of the world are multilingual anyway there isn't much difference.
But yeah, UK FW would be nice...
Question: if I flash non-branded firmware (French for example) and then use Sony Update Service to re-install my firmware, which firmware will it download? French unbranded? The branded one I had before from my carrier? UK unbranded?

It will read your current version, so if you flashed french, SUS would give you french

Looks simple enough. I'll have a look at doing this in a little while. At the moment, I'm just doing some modding of SystemUI which I'll post about when I'm done. Then I can sort this out for you.

Wrong. Simply unplug after the download is complete and your device will remain untouched.

It re-downloads the currently running one. If you already reflashed the phone and didnt note down your SI you may never go fully back to stock if you cant find the FTF of the exact firmware you were originally running.

Well you can search if anyone uploaded the ROM that came with your phone and flash that. But when I debranded my Telstra branded XZ I downloaded the Telstra ROM for my phone first before I debranded mine so I can always go back to the original ROM that came with my phone.

We on the C5306 variant.

So its been like 10 days since the rollout for the Xperia SP android 4.3 started and we on the C5306 variant haven't got the update, why is that?
Sent from my Xperia Sp C5306.
I dont believe it is a good idea to post that question here on XDA due to the ammount of rumors and fake intel from many users.
I dont know actualy. C5306 is the one sold in the USA right? Perhaps the big operators like AT&T and Verizon have something to do with the update?

Yes, but I'm on an unlocked onee so any carrier-related-idiocy shouldn't affect the update on my end.
And yes I know where are you conning from I'm not asking a date, I just want to know why the update is taking so long to be pushed out.
Sent from my Xperia Sp C5306.
Ask Sony? There is a dedicated thread on the Talk.Sony website about the update...
the sad thing for us is that there isn't any c5306 firmware available
No c5303 update for UK unlocked either

Yes, that's right, but you can flash a CE firmware without any issue. We on the other hand don't even a have a single C5306 4.3 one.
Sent from my Xperia Sp C5306.
Just flash a C5303 ROM, I have a C5306 with the C5303 UK ROM for a week now without any problems.

Did the back up work? What did you excluded when you flashed it?

No, backup won't work when you change a version of Android (in this case, 4.1 --> 4.3). So look for a backup app on the Play Store. I flashed everything on the ROM, though, I lost all my data (including photos and videos) saved on the internal memory. I think you can prevent that by ticking off the "wipe data" option on Flashtool, I'm not sure.
Even LTE works.
C5306 US owner here. Unlocked (basically any SP owner in the US is unlocked because it is not used by any major carrier). Still no update, even though the Sony Mobile US site for the SP shows that a new firmware has been out since 2/12. To be honest, after hearing all the issues, I don't want to update it until there is another 4.3 firmware update to see if things are fixed. 4.1.2 is working fine for me anyways.
There's a Mexican user telcel branded that actually update to 4.3, I'm Mexican too and I know that the only variant sold by telcel is 5306, because support LTE.... Maybe I'm wrong, but I saw that user in the 'news about 4.3 and 4.4'
Mine is 02 because is unbranded xD...
Also, u can flash a tft, maybe if u flash a C5303 variant u can keep LTE....
Also, PCC backup works even if u change android version, model, etc.

[HELP] Xperia Z T-Mobile to KitKat

Hi, I have a xperia z T-Moble (c6606) , but i´m living in mexico, its sim unlocked, and i want to upgrade it to 4.4 kitkat, i have tried to upgrade it via OTA and PC Companion, but the upgrade dont appear, i thought upgrading via flashtool but, i dont know what rom can i use, could someone give me a hand with it? thank you
i have found this one, but i dont know if it works for my device and my location

Ask in the thread, or in Q&A, don't clog up the general with these simple question threads. But yes, follow the tutorials (Pro-tip: Use the search function! It's super useful!) for flashtool and flash any ftf from any region, some have different apps pre-installed etc. you can use them from any region. I bought a UK sim-free Xperia Z and I've flashed Taiwanese, German and Belgian ftf's.
No harm in trying, just make backup before. I'm on c6606 but in US and have always flashed UK or EU branded and they worked fine I just had to input my APNs for cell coverage.

Pm me so i can tell you what to do in spanish
I called t mobile US today. They have me the run around of we are testing it. Then the lay just stopped talking after I said most other TMo around the world have released it as had the generic US. The lay wouldn't give me an ETA. Then she didn't want to talk to me when I mentioned they missed several 4.3 versions.
All in all, I wouldn't wait on them. Wait for a pre rooted on here and go for it.

C6006 user here. From experience, there's not much difference between C6606 and C6603 firmware beside the band and customization.
Download the lastest FTF, make sure its for C6603, and flash.
As a precaution, tick "Baseband" when flashing.
I think you should try Canadian Bell?

Can I flash a different CDA firmware?

I am a really noob, and I have bricked one of my Xperia once so I want to make sure. I used to flash a custom ROM, err... on an AU Z5 and yes, it bricked completely. Now I am using a XZ3 H9493 with CDA from Taiwan ( I prefer 6GB RAM) so... I knew that un-locale Xperia one is not easily be bricked than AU, Docomo, Softbank ones... But I have been waiting or a whole nearly half a year for an update replace 52.1.A.0.618! Not so much errors or frustrating bugs happened with me on this version, but the HDR!!! XZ3 was advertised as a phone to watch video also, so why Sony have to break it?! I really want to flash a different region firmware to get rid of it, so I want to ask you guys if I can flash a China, Russia or at least Hong Kong CDA without brick my XZ3? Thanks a lot and appreciate for every help here!
