re branded samsung galaxy s ?

hi. i bought an galaxy s yesterday. i see there is an android logo in the back of phone in the place of "google" word. everything seems ok. the language of phone and user manuels is Fr (france?). is there any problem do you think about this? can i install roms as normal? i am scared about this... sry for bad egnlish

That's nice logo. I like it.

The finish looks different too (it's normally got black circles on the back too).. It might be a fake.. Check what firmware it says is installed under the about firmware.. It could also just be something dodgy with the carrier or french laws (or no market in france).. But double check the firmware..

Wow that certainly looks nicer than with Google text.

yes its all things high quality and tiny circeles in back is as normal .

Looks good to me maybe it's a newer back cover? I would prefer that to mine with big Google writing and Samsung at the bottom. At least it doesn't have vodafone written all over it.

I have the same I9000 with the Android logo at the back cover and "dotted" looking back cover, must be newer stocks as mine is just two weeks old...

The only 2 owners with this backing so far are from Iran and Dubai so it may be a Middle East variant.
Either way I think it's a pretty cool back, mainly because it's different although I would have preferred the Android logo and the Galaxy S logo on the back rather than Samsung.

the battery cover does not include the NFC sensor, you will need to add one to it, to use the function.

I kind of like the android ones...pretty damn cool

back from china.
my supplier says the white cases, are not available yet in china, and will contact me when they arrive, I have ordered 35 pieces, also I did notice today that china in shenzhen, they just got delivery of over 100 black nexus s, all the shops were testing the units before they start to sell them, they were all wrapped in bubble wrap, and all are to be sold without boxes, the shipment was from europe or the us, without the boxes, they skip paying tax, that what i've been told.

So where to buy the cover 'cause at the ebay thing at the other post is postet that the list is ended so i cannot buy it i think, I'm right?

since a few minutes ago, i had one, if i dont get a reply in 2 days time, I can sell it to you.
where i got it from china, i got the last 2, i havent seen anymore yet, they have the normal one at a slightly cheaper price.

[Q] Fake HTC One?

Hello, a friend of mine has bought me an apparently real HTC One from russia. As he said, it was about 100€ cheaper because of taxes and stuff like that.
When I got that device, it was all okay. It looked very legit, until I have played some games without and tried out some benchmarks.
The phone I had before was HTC One S, which seemed much faster to me. I have ran some benchmarks and noticed it is getting much less scores than a HTC One is supposed to be.

When I asked my friend, he told me that it's just a software problem... which I can not believe.
I was already convinced that it is a fake, but I wanted to make sure.. is it one? What can I do?

It does look very strange. Here is a screenshot of mine. You don't seem to have much internal storage!
If you phone was new and stock you should not have root access (I rooted mine on day 1 ). Also I'm pretty sure "alps" did not build the official HTC One. Then the board, hardware and display models aren't even similar.
I would definitely call this a fake, even the status bar at the top looks different. Do you know what ROM this phone is using? This might be stated in Settings>About>Software information.
According to the AnTuTu Device Info, the rear camera is 13MP. The real phone has a 4 Ultrapixel camera. I'm pretty sure that isn't a software problem!
I'm not sure what you could do, apart from take it back to your friend.

It was new and completely unopened... well, at least it looked like that. The first weird thing I noticed, was that the battery was charged to something like 57%. I am not sure if this is normal or not.
Here is a screenshot of my "About" menu. Sorry for the text being in german, I hope it is still recognizable.
Also, I have compared my phone with pictures of a real HTC One - it seems very legit... is it possible that someone just exchanged parts of the hardware?

Difficult to tell from that screenshot, but the battery when new is normal. Mine was charged at about 45% when new. Does the phone feel of high quality? It should be nicely built with an aluminium body, with the 2 front boom sound speakers sounding nice and clear.

That is a worrying good copy! It says the fake has a 720p screen but the screenshots show 1080p. Still, that seems to be the only similarity to the real HTC

Lol at his picture....
He has 1gb internal storage.
It is a fake for sure. Plus hardware is the same as the link I posted, ir isn't using a Qualcomm chip
The screenshot thing could be wrong, it doesn't test the screen res but looks at the hardware info which would be easily to fake

Hmm, okay. Seems like it really is a fake, unfortunately.
I can't really tell if it feels high quality, it is not really heavy and not too light..

Hopefully you can get the phone sent back. It's a shame to see such a beautiful phone copied from a cheaper supplier.

Question S21 Ultra Fake or Real?

Looking at buying a s21 ultra...
Now I know there is some fakes out there too... I have seen this one for sale:

Now notice on the box it says Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G...
But, every other box pic I can see online just says S21 Ultra 5G and doesn't say Galaxy?
Is this Samsung's new box design? Or could this be a fake? See below for all the other boxes I have seen online:

I just checked my box, it does NOT have Galaxy on it. I think that printer is legit. You can always ask them to take a picture with the sale ID on it to prove they have it.

I won't spend 1K+ $ over a phone that I suspect (even for a tiny bit) to be fake, I'd rather wait for another shot.

Ask the seller for the imei codes etc. Should be on the back of the phone box. Fill those in and you will know if tbe phone is legit.

In my opinion, if you're nervous, then don't get it. It's too risky.

Seller has sent receipt and pic of IMEI serial etc... Seems real...

Once before I bought a Galaxy phone, looks like it, checked the IMEI number and it checked out. Got home and tried to root it and no. After checking the settings confirmed that it was a fake. You have had second thoughts from the beginning so don't do it. 1000+ USD is not worth going through the trouble for a possibility. The moment you had second thoughts, that needs to be a definite no.

I agree, it's too much money to be unsure. Also, if you have any issues with it, you could have problems getting warranty on it. For new, go with a reputable seller.

What you're seeing is actually the cutout for the "peelable" screen protector. If it's a fake, it already looks like an elaborate fake and I doubt they forgot about how the front lens looks like.

How to find a rootable Pixel 5 (non-verizon or non-company network)

I am going to buy a used Pixel 5 tomorrow. I want to quickly confirm if I can root the Pixel 5 given that its already updated to Android 12? And also how do I know if it isnt from Verizon or some network phone as I think I wont be able to root that as well.
If any one could please confirm this fact quickly I can buy it without hesitation.
Please advice

I'm rooted on Android 12 with my Pixel 5.
Rooting it is a little different than it used to be. Make sure to read instructions for it.

Yeah, you don't want a Verizon model. If you can get the IMEI for the phone before you buy it, there are ways to check if it's a Verizon model or not

Thanks for your answer. The seller is not willing to share IMEI before I pay him. Is there any other way to check it? Like say through a model number or something ? Also I would like to know how to check if I had the IMEI? Could you please get me to that link?

If someone isn't willing to share the IMEI, don't buy it.
Your best bet would be through a site such as Swappa, due to their policies that help prevent users from getting screwed.
Or, you could buy an unlocked 5a direct from Google; the hardware is identical to the P5, with the exception of a larger battery, 0.3" larger screen, and 6GB RAM vs 8GB in the P5.
