I updated my Thrill to ICS from the LG site. It is not, nor has it ever been, rooted, but it keeps on getting detected a such. Ever since the update, Flixster refuses to play movies on it, claiming it is rooted. CinemaNow also will not play movies. It gives the code "TamperDetected", which I assume means it thinks the phone is rooted.
I have tried installing OTA-Rootkeeper from the android store. It comes up with the following status:
Superuser app installed: (can't see the checkbox, but there is a play store button there to install it, and play says it is not installed.)
Device rooted: No
Root permission granted: No
System supports root protection: Yes
Protected su copy available: No
Of course, since it's not rooted, the Temp. unroot button isn't there, so the app really isn't any help here. (Unless I root my device so I can make it look unrooted and then see if Flixster works... )
I did try resetting my device. That didn't help.
Is it just me, or is anyone else having this problem. And, more to the point, anyone know any work-arounds? Any idea why Flixster and CinemaNow might think it is rooted? What would an app typically look for to detect a rooted phone?
Hey guys, im running a galaxy s4 active i9295 with android 4.2.2.
Everything standard except it was rooted, decided to unroot so I could upgrade to 4.4
and used the supersu unroot to do so, unfortunately as I I did this my google play has stopped working :/.
Ive done all the date/time methods cleared all the data from the apps, even removed my google accounts. Its not even letting me sign back into them or make another account. Im very confused and have little knowledge of what else to do!!
Also rerooted my phone deleted host file and that didnt work, then re edited it like it says in a couple of guides. Also uninstalled google play store with titanium backup and re installed it from a different source and still no luck
Hello!
I just got my new Teclast x98 air ii. Out of the box, Gapps suite is very instable and Google Play doesn't work at all. After reading several forums and tried basic tricks like clearing cache, uninstalling updates, etc... It is still not working. The last thing to try is to install Play store and Play Services in the system/apps space, but obviously I need the tablet to be rooted. Again, after reading a lot on rooting Android devices, I no longer sure if the rooting process is CPU, hardware or OS dependent.
So, is that possible to root this Chinese tablet and if yes, using what tool?
Hi mate ive just received mine . also having the same problems as you. Tried resetting to factory defaults , changed the language from chinese to english . It looked like the play store was going to work . Then it just forced closed . Now wont work at all . Tried doint the ota updtae , but doesnt work . cant find anything on the internet as the tablet is pretty new. If only i could get play store working . hmmm . Its seems a great tablet .Screens spot on and it seems pretty fast .
I signed up to say that other people are also having the Google Play problem, and though I haven't received mine I'm probably going to have that problem, too.
What a bummer. ):
Subscribed. I have one of these on order and found out about the Play Store issue. I am wanting to run Android and not Windows 8.1. Hopefully there is an update soon.
Edit: Just saw this. Anyone with an Air II care to try?
https://twitter.com/srsroot/status/527864446400856066
Yeah I've seen that on twitter . however CPUz claims the tablet is already rooted . I used amazon app store for that . hope we get this sorted soon .
Yes I thought it was already rooted too but I tried running apps that need root and it is not rooted. I verified with Rootchecker and it confirmed...
Now I removed updates on Play Store and Play Services but some apps does not work anymore... like Hangout...
same issue here
Hey guys,
Just gotbmine this morning and have the same issue,
play store browse well but crashes when trying to download
YouTube won't even launch
ota update not working
Plus have regular freezes with the internet browser. Hope we can find a fix soon cause otherwise the tablet is pretty good !
I don't see the point of having an ota app as no one can get it working. Also when my tablet arrived the playstore wasnt fully installed . when I done a factory reset everything installed and had the play store icon on the screen. . still didn't work tho . .. The manufacturer must know the play store has problems , that's why its disabled . its a good tablet ,just wish everything worked as it should .
Ota is working. Downloading now . will let you all know how it goes ..
Still not downloaded . 6 hours later , keeps restarting . grrrr . there's a new guide on a French forum to update the firmware . looks pretty complicated . can't post links yet .

Same here. Downloaded and installed the OTA update to 4.4.4 after two attempts.
Downloaded gapps 4.4.4 tried to install it via the teclast update app that is on the tablet. No luck, message said could not verify update.
So I renamed it to update.zip and tried to install via restart and bootloader but no luck.
I suppose I could manually move the files but even then it may not work and that would be tedious.
Oh well, still a good tablet and amazon apps work just fine.
Also 64 GB microSD card won't work but my 16 GB microSD card works just fine.
Tried any other ROMS yet?
Hi All,
I've had the tablet a week now and just updated to 4.4.4 using the Teclast App that was pre-installed. Since the update I've had a few issues with video stuttering and play store and youtube still don't work. So far though I am pretty impressed with the tablet. Still wondering though has anyone tried a different rom on this yet?

Same -- need to know how to root
Having the same problem with the Google play store crashing. It only seems to crash when it attempts to download apps/updates, and the crash logs point to the download manager (i.e., the eng.yankendi.20140922.165954 version of DownloadProvider.apk).
Need root to replace it with some other version -- would that even work or is the download manager a device-specific app?
Beware malware sites
Norton says site is a known malicious site, so not going to bother downloading from there. I have the Air II and been researching the Play Store issue for about a week - no answers yet. None of the simple fixes work, looking at moving the Gapps to a different folder as suggested at one forum - problem is I need root for that, and rooting this thing is just as big of a challenge. There's other sites that claim to have root .bat files but they too install malware on your computer - had it happen to me just today. That's the problem with this sorta thing, the a-holes out there know how desperate people can get to find anything that'll give them root so they plant malware in their "solutions". Anyway I'm gonna keep trying, first have to get root figured out.
*EDIT* Sorry was replying to post #4 and the srsroot link posted there
Play Store fix??
Found this in another thread here at XDA. Anyone brave enough to try it??

Here's the post:
Google Play Store Fix
Anyone having issues with Google Play Store - this applies to both Air 3G with the latest 2.0.1 update (will post more information later) and Air II - please apply this fix.
Your OS should be rooted in order for this to work.
- Download the files from here.
- Copy the .apk files to a folder on your microSD card.
- Go to Settings > Apps and uninstall Google Play Store.
- Install using the supplied .apk's the following (in this order): Google Play Services, Google Play Store and Link2SD.
- Go to Link2SD, find Google Play Store > Actions > Convert into system app.
- When the conversion is complete, reboot the tablet.
You should find that Google Play store works now, if you still have issues clear ALL it's data and re-enter your account information.
Will post later when the v2.0 (Android 4.4.4) ROM upload is complete with instructions on how to flash it.
I am using it right now and after it was installed it performed an OTA and now I am at v2.0.1_20141105.
I would but... Howto root it?
I haven't found the root procedure the Air ii yet...
How this guy rooted it?

I have this same question. This post has a link to a toolbox for rooting, but I can't get it to work on the Air II. Anyone have any success?
Edit: This one works for rooting. I followed the procedure and Google Play store and apps are now working.

I rooted with the Chinese version of VRoot (your link) and it seemed to work. I installed a root checking app and it says I have root access. However when I try to convert the PlayStore into system app I got an error from Link2SD telling it doesn't have root access.
Any clue?
thanks
edit: actually it seems vRoot only supports 4.4.2 for now, I made the update to 4.4.4 so it is probably the reason root doesn't work

*My tablet: Teclast X98 Air II WiFi*
I wouldn't try using the download provided, only because the download and the instructions given for it don't quite match up. The post says "copy the .apk files" however the download is an *.exe - why would you need to execute a downloaded file to get *.apks? The guy makes it look like it's a zip file - note the .7z in the file name - but that's not its real extension, it's an executable. It's like someone is trying to fool you by making you think the files are zipped up so you'll start the *.exe. I may be wrong but I prefer being too careful rather than sorry later on. Plus the *.apks are easy enough to find - they're all over the Internet.
Having said all that, I still tried the guy's idea but with my own files and I think it works. Well I say "I think" because a) I finally have Play Store working, after days of trying every idea in this thread and what I found Googling, and b) I'm not quite 100% sure of the /exact/ steps I took to finally get Play to work because I was doing so many things at once.
But from memory here are the last few steps I tried before Play miraculously started working (I already had Link2SD installed):
1) Installed latest Play Services *.apk
2) Installed latest Play Store *.apk
3) Opened Link2SD and converted BOTH Play Store & Play Services to system apps (when I was just converting Play Store it never worked)
4) Reboot
The only way I'll ever be sure of exactly what's needed is to wipe my tablet and start over using just these steps, which I just might do since the tablet is so new. However someone else out there may want to give this a try just to see if I'm right about the steps needed. And by the way VRoot worked perfectly for rooting, I used the version for PCs (rooting your tablet from your PC). The supplied SU app for VRoot works fine, I don't read Chinese but all you need to do is check a box and tap a button for every SU request.
Hope this helps, I'll report back with more info as I get the chance.
Hi, it wouldn't surprise me if this has already been answered elsewhere, but I can't seem to find it.
I want to upgrade my P7 because all my music apps just stop at random. I assume it's a firmware problem. It happens with internet radios, Spotify both online and offline etc. I also need to root my phone to get rid of unneeded system apps and prevent apps like Swype from reading my location all the time (google "Swype location requests").
Rooting seems to be straightforward, but will OTA upgrades work afterwards?
EMUI 2.3
Build number P7-L10V100R001C00B133SP01
Custom Version CUSTC432D133SP01
I'm in Norway, if that matters
From someone that had the root before, OTA won't work. You would have to force the update. I'm on 609 and it works perfectly well (well ... I don't use the basic music app as it has some weird characters recognition and it doesn't have a "genre" tab, but Rocket Player doesn't stop randomly and it did when I was on 133, so I guess the update solved the problem). You can still upgrade and root again.
A question which might be out of subject but, what do you use to get rid of the apps and what are the apps that are not dangerous to get rid of?
thanks a lot!
Thanks! I'll look for the procedure on flashing new firmware and rooting it again, I am a little worried about flashing the wrong files and getting a chinese phone
I'll probably use Root Uninstaller to get rid of the weather and music apps, the bundled web browser, Hangouts and stuff like that. If I remember correctly, Root Uninstaller warns you against uninstalling essential system apps. But most importantly I need to be able to keep apps from leaking private data.
So the plan is to first force an upgrade, assuming there is one for my region, then root.
A while back i rooted my Samsung s 3 mini (GT-l18190N) and now i'm trying to unroot it and update the firmware (or android version, idk how you call it). I got the device unrooted, however in device status it says that its "Custom" and when i try to update the android using OTA, it says "Your device have been modified, Software updates are not available". I downloaded Kies and it says that i have the latest version. My androin version currently is 4.1.2.
I also did a factory reset which didn't seem to help.
I'm trying to get snapchat on the phone (as far as i know snapchat doesn't work on rooted phones), i got downloaded snapchat from play store and it works, but it seems to be an older version, i have no "Memories" on it, and the gui is old aswell. I need a snapchat version that has memories. Also some apps on play store say that the device is not supported or something like that.
