the steps to get it rooted are
unlock bootloader at htcdev.com
download TWRP 2.6.3.3 http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
enter recovery and exit and choose install SuperSU on exit
bootup phone, go to app drawer and choose SuperSU, it will ask to update, let it update and choose TWRP for install. this will reboot the phone.
You now have a new phone with custom recovery and Root.
I already do that, i use cwm after i check in root checker. Result no root access.

omg, read carefully please. I won't post it a 3rd time: clsA told you to do this procedure below to root but it won't work with twrp 2.6.3.3 since the included su binaries in 2.6.3.3 are to old and won't work on android 5.0.2 so you need to use twrp 2.8.6.0 instead:

i tried to root my phone and install roms but then when i flashed the viper rom something went wrong and my phone would only go on recovery (twrp) i panicked... and cleared ALL the data, even my backup and including the os. I looked for guides and saw this one that shows how to install rom through adb, tried it and successfully installed android revolution, but when i try to reboot it says no os installed. please help
Firstly, which version of twrp are you using?
If it is the old ones, 6.* versions, please upgrade to the latest, then you can try side loading arhd or viper ROM once again. Should word. You can use HTC one toolkits available for m7, or use adb itself if you are familiar with it in a good level.
Install TWRP 2.8.5.0

The "fastboot boot recovery.img" is not supported in hboot 1.54 to 1.61 (was only supported in 1.44). So you can't boot a recovery you must flash it over your stock recovery using "fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.0-2-m7.img":

Nandroid backup of? It depends what is included in the backup.... if the data partition is included and there were a lot of things saved on the phone then yes it can be really big.... Normally id say around 1.5 gb is normal when its a stock backup without any user data.

If you are going to use twrp's root make sure you have a recent twrp version otherwise it will flash an outdated SU version and cause a Bootloop. But yes it's a reliable method, if you prefer you can flash the latest supersu.zip file from twrp.

If you are going to use twrp's root make sure you have a recent twrp version otherwise it will flash an outdated SU version and cause a Bootloop. But yes it's a reliable method, if you prefer you can flash the latest supersu.zip file from twrp.
Stock recovery isn't included in a nandroid. What is your version-main number? Will try to find it for you.
