[Q] Install custom recovery on galaxy s5 at&t 5.0 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

I have 5.0 lollipop rooted on galaxy s5 at&t, how can install custom recovery like safestrap on it?

As far as I am aware it isn't doable at the moment.

Unable to at the moment. I tried installing TWRP, big mistake as it brought a screen saying there was software installed not approved by att and to shut the phone off and take in to a store. Just had to reflash the rooted lollipop and it went away.

Same problem
I have tried so many things also. I'm rooted and 5.0 at&t. It has to be possible to do. It has to be possible. If we could downgrade and install and upgrade. I been scratching my head about this for weeks. Needs to be solved. Haha.

[Q] Latest TMobile OTA...Should I install it?

So I just picked up an S6 from TMobile yesterday. While I was there, the rep told me that I should not apply the OTA that it is prompting me to install. He said it has been bricking phones and I should wait a few weeks. I am currently running LRX22G.G920TUVU1AOC9. I have rooted the phone with CF Auto root. Any input would be appreciated.
Nonsense ..Lol
Official ota do not brick phones Samsung isn't and wouldn't ever create there own firmware to destruct the device.. ota don't do that .It's what we do with rooting mods etc... that brick phones.
Take the ota I did right out of the box 2 days ago every one did It's necessary fixes some stuff No gain by not taking it

The rep said what? Official OTA going to brick your phone? Lol.
Been on G920TUVU1AOCG (the ota) since day one and it's been fine for me.
Edit: Since you rooted you'll have to just flash the firmware with odin. The stock firmware on sammobile is the build with the update anyway. You can't take official ota updates while rooted afaik.
Roger that. Installing now lol.
I Can offer the biggest tip proving To fix the battery drain u will see with taking the OTA. As mentioned the OTA sometimes make things hairy .. People have been flashing the stock Shipped firmware with Odin Starting fresh I did this and All issues with battery are gone.
Highly recommended.

[Q] [q] samsung galaxy s 5 will not unroot.

Hello,
I have a samsung galxay s 5 running on android 4.4.2. its model number is samsung-sm-g900a. I rooted it 6 months ago but decided to unroot it when the lollipop update came out, so i would be able to get the update. I used odin and downloaded the samsung galaxy s5 stock. I have tried twice to unroot my phone but after i go through the process and download root checker on the play store, i find that my device is still rooted. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The downgrade to nce file should work fine, ive used it multiple times and been unrooted. You can load the lollipop update prerooted thlugh if you want to do it that way, which a guide for is in general.

I'm running the pre-rooted lollipop on an at&t S5 and works very well. If you unroot and get the official OTA update, you'll be stuck unrooted until someone finds a way to root again.
If you use the pre-rooted file you can go back to KitKat if you don't like the new Lollipop.

Just bought a ROOTED Note 3 4.4.2 - How do I keep root when I put in my Sim Card?

I just bought a used Samsung Note 3 4.4.2 and it is rooted with Safestrap installed.
When I add in my SIMCARD from my old phone wont AT&T instantly try to update it to Lollipop 5.0?? How do I prevent myself from losing my root?
Thanks!
If its rooted it shouldn't update.

It can't and won't update automatically unless you run an update through Odin. You should be fine.
You can use Titanium Backup Pro to freeze the Att software update apk.. An you will just have a extra piece of mind.. But if for some odd reason it did update to Lollipop you can always revert back to Kitkat 4.4.2 then Root it again, install busybox an SafeStrap. You do know you can be running Lollipop with Root right?

Stock Note 3 (Android 5.0)

I have a note 3 with at&t that's never been rooted but I would like to. Can sometimes point me in the right direction to get started?

+1 for OC2, I mean all, I, am, seeing is Downgrade options to 4.4 KitKat then towel root then Safestrap then flash slotted Updated Lollipop Rom? All, I want is to remove bloat and use exposed, is there a root for OC2? Without downgrading thanks
Here's the video for downgrading and rooting. Then after that you can use any of the builds available. I'm using Alliance v12. Works like a charm,I almost gave up on my phone and was about to buy a new one. After downgrading to NC2,rooted and the pushing in Alliance 12 it's back. Thank you community.

So you downgraded to NC2 which I'm assuming is 4.4.2 becuase Im on NJ5, downgraded to NC2 or Jellybean I think and rooted with towel root and installed safestrap via the instructions, but when I try to reboot into Safestrap after installing and it installs, I grant it Superuser, and click Reboot to Recovery and nothing happens, any ideas? Becuase I need Safestrap, so I can flash Alliance, or Backup or anything else, but there are SO MANY conflicting OP's, regaurding Safestrap "it abandoned", "it only works on 4.2.2", "there's a work around for Safestrap on 4.4.4, by flashing Kitcat Kernal" "or Safestrap will work on on OC1 also with correct kernel"
All I want is to be on the "LATEST FIRMWARE FOR THIS PHONE, THAT WILL ALLOW ME TO EFFECTIVELY USE SAFESTRAP, TO BACK UP, FLASH, AND RUN ALLIANCE ETC..."
IF that means being someone a beer, I'm cool with that, been around here for awhile and had many Samsung phone Notes One, Two, S3, S4, but never had to deal with this bootloader crap, just so frustrated at this point[emoji726]

Did you install busybox before installing safestrap?
Sent from my DROID Turbo using XDA-Developers mobile app
Yeah I'm pretty sure I did I mean I have Busy box installed of course, and Safestrap, and I'm not sure in what order, however if Busy box was causing the issue, then Safestrap would not install at all, right? But yes now that I remember, when I got this phone it was already updated to OC1 (at that time the latest build) after try to sift through all the different out dated tutorials, I finally just did what I mentioned above, but Safestrap "Installs fine", "Allows me to grant SU", then "allows me to (click)" reboot to recovery" then FAIL.... nothing happens, on NJ5, I know Safestrap ended development at some point, and don't you also have to flash a certain kernel in order for SS to work on KK? So Confused

You need to install Busybox, then open busybox and tell it to install it into the system
Then open safestrap and do likewise.
I did this on nc2 no idea how it'll work on an older version.

so mrkhigh, thank you by the way first! off, to your response, so as far as you know "Safestrap" did not require any additional steps, to work on 4.3, like an updated kernel, which I know makes no sense to me eithier, other than the permission changes that occured at the true root level on NJ5 Update, and SafeStrap itself not being a true recovery, in the word of true TWRP, per this pain in my @$$ bootloader, which I have already made knowen in this community, AND others, is simply a loophole, to the "right to modify" ruling by the FTC some years back, if you will to the carriers, at&fee included among others

How to unroot Galaxy SM-920A?

I recently bought a galaxy S6 and realised that it was rooted. I want to unroot it so that i can update to marshmallow. Currently im running on 5.1.1 and baseband version is G920AUCU3BOI2. Im trying to look for an AT&T stock firmware but i cant find one. i managed to find this through one of here threads :theandroidsoul.com/download-galaxy-s6-stock-firmware
Can i used this to unroot my phone and directly go to marshmallow? and also since im not in the US will my phone be locked? i mean will i still be able to have network service where i am.
Desperate to unroot my phone
Last year, when I unrooted, I ended up flashing the firmware again to wipe out root and go back to official status.
Look in the S6 general forum for a build of BOI2 and flash it, then use the software updater in settings (or try smart switch) to update.
Another option is to goto best buy and have the Samsung people restore the software and update it. (haven't done this, not sure how root will impact their flashing)
