Since the drop of 5.0 is it really better than 4.4.4? What are the pros and cons? I am super happy with my S5 on Kit Kat...is the upgrade to 5.0 worth it ( I am rooted right now ).
Thanks

Well for starters the home button glitch with the google now thing is gone if you were one of the people having that issue. Also you can keep root if you go about upgrading correctly using Odin. It does seem a bit snappier on 5.0 and my battery life seems to have gotten better than it was. Those are of course are my personal observations so far.
the only con I observed is that you have to manually remove the att bloat. other than that it has been snapper and better on battery life for me.
Better battery life and snappier response are what I immediately noticed.
As far as cons, these my be just my personal gripes:
Lock screen music player no longer allows seeking.
Vibrate pattern for receiving a text message is now one long vibration.
The text message preview option now controls both the lock screen and status bar at the same time. I only want the message to be previewed in the status bar and not on the lock screen.
And you can now run a camera app that supports RAW format. Photographers care about that kind of stuff.
Other than that,
Good: Snappy response, fast booting, decent battery life.
Bad: There are one or two apps that do not support Lollipop. Fortunately, there are many alternatives.
Great thanks, looks like I will make the jump.
Is nice having Bluetooth audio work solid now on lollipop with no random cutting out. Battery life and overall speed are great. I recommend root method to allow freezing bloatware.
My only 2 complaints are the white backgrounds in all system apps (a standard lollipop thing), and the current lack of xposed. Other than that, I'm loving it.

There might be a 3rd party app on Google Play that does that. You gotta look
I strongly disliked the 4.4.4 update, particularly the home button issue with Google now.
My battery life is better on lollipop and the phone is so smooth---probably ART. I did remove my battery for a couple of minutes after updating and then did a cache clear. I haven't had any issues. My brother has an S4 and is having battery issues.

I am running Lollipop. I installed Camera++ from the Play Store. It saves files as PNGs, about 20 MB in size. So yes, Lollipop does support raw format. As far as photographers wanting that, it does depend on the photographer, but most of them do prefer raw format.
It does not actually support true RAW (DNG files), only PNGs. Camera++ specifically states that "This device does not support RAW capture."
PNG's are still compressed, just losslessly unlike a JPEG.

Hey, you are right. Had to download Camera FV-5 Lite to get true DNG format. Lollipop does support RAW, it's just a matter of finding a camera app that works for you.

Maybe it's just the Active then, I just tried FV-5 Lite and it also reports that device does not support RAW.

I understand that a few of you have been using the phone. My contract has ended, and I'm really thinking about getting the Optimus 2X. I have read mixed reviews regarding the phone, and really want to hear from trusted XDA users.
So any advantages, disadvantages or verdicts would be really appreciated
Swedroid.se tested the phone a week ago, Swedroid is the biggest swedish community around Android, and its the only site I trust 100%! They said that its the best Android phone ever, they have tested so far.
You can check out the huge test here: http://www.swedroid.se/test-av-lg-optimus-2x/ (Its in Swedish though)
I agree with Hund. Swedroid does the best reviews you can ever see on the internet. They know their job and they test pretty much everything.
I've had the phone for a couple of days, so here are my first impressions:
Battery: I came from a Sony Ericsson X10i and the battery is a great improvement - can't give any stats though, but have pretty much been using the phone non-stop
Screen: Awesome screen with nice vibrant colors, good viewing angles and rather fair in sunlight.
OS: Everything is smoooooooth. Except when you change stuff like usb-mode. Then the media-player looks for new transferred media, but that is expected.
HDMI mirroring works like a charm! Great to show off and good when visiting people when you want to watch a movie.
Watched a couple of tv shows on a long busride today. Just standard 350mb .avi files that worked PERFECTLY! Even subs were crystal clear!
Camera - has some bugs with the blurryness, but I haven't really used it yet. Should be solved with a software update at some point.
I think that's about it.. BEST phone I've had so far and everyone I've shown it to was impressed BLING BLING

Could someone kindly try to use another camera from the market? Maybe the results are better? Camera360 could be an alternative app.

Do you use a Taskkiller like ATK or something. If you do stop using it, i had the same problems with those force-closes when using ATK. Also you have to bear in mind that it has stock 2.2.2 and most market place stuff is made for 2.2.1 .
My opinion on the LG 2x: I still can not believe it's from LG those guys really went in the right direction. I've had a BB9700 and a Galaxy S (darkys rom) and this LG really is a piece of work. The build is quite solid when compared to Samsungs Galaxy and the preformance is great. Battery live is about 130 % better then the SGS not 160 % as advertised.

I have this phone now for 5 days.
Before I had a HTC legend.
- speed is great.
- there is a lag in the lockscreen (when you press the power button you first see your homescreen, and a second later the lock screen)
- i didnt found a option for the email of my hotmail account to delete te messages from the server.
-I cant add wordt to my dictionary when typing a message.
- had several crashes while doing just nothing (scrolling through menus or something)
- a lot of programs start up by themself. and the advanced task killer is not automaticly closing it even when i put the setting on kill when screen is off.
overall a good phone, but it doesnt feel just that right like a HTC.
can anyone say something about multitouch on 2x? in a video i saw its capable to handle 10 points but more interesting would be if its now possible to pinch to zoom and move at a time.
e.g.: in browser you zoom in on a webpage and whlie zooming you move the centre of zooming to an other point like the upper right corner and it zooms to the new centre. ive seen this on windows phone and ios but android so far.

How do you set up your hotmail? I haven't been able to do that. On my X10i, when i deleted the messages of my phone, it didn't affect the server either, so maybe that's just they way android is set up.
The standard keyboard is pretty lacking in terms of features..
The random things you experience with programs could be due to the fact that you are using a task killer.. They only cause problems imo.

Thats a matter of principle
I had this for almost 24 hours and so far I love it. Just one thing that bugs me. It's the theme of the contacts, dialer, and messaging app. Why is white? When I was playing with the demo phone at best buy them 3 apps had a nice dark theme to them. I get home root the phone set it up and go to check out the contacts list I'm like wtf is this. Why Samsung why did you change the theme on them apps at gives us the option to pick dark or light. Well let's some of your complaints. A new phone is not complete without complaints.
I love the 90s. Good times.
You can change the text messaging app theme too dark. It's in the settings within that app. It would be nice to also change the contacts app, but I don't believe you can.

See when I was at best buy yesterday playing with the demo phone. The contacts and dialer was dark. I think sprint may have changed the theme I could be wrong. I noticed when I first turned on the phone it had the Samsung default boot up animation. Than the phone did a software update than rebooted with the sprint boot up. So maybe that could of changed the them. That I don't know. But I really don't care for the light theme

I hate that text flow is missing from the browser and that the buddy pages that were part of the Note 2 are missing from the S4. It is funny how you would think some standard features would follow through to the next versions of flagship devices.
I also think there is a bug in the stock email client on how many spam mails you can flag. This is annoying as well.

Yeah I noticed that too... Lets try to keep this thread going maybe some of the developers will see these issues and address once they are ready to start cooking up some roms and mods
I'm coming from the EVO 4G running MikRom, so some of my gripes may be common differences between HTC and Samsung, or they may be things I got used to by running a custom ROM. Speaking of cutom ROMs, I know some of these issues will be resolved w/ a custom ROM.
Regardless, this is what I got so far...
- Inability to sort bookmarks by A-Z order in stock browser
- Hate that if you have the volume button programmed to take picture, there's no other way to activate the zoom function
- Not wild about how the clipboard (copy/cut/paste) menu works
- Wish I could disable the shutter sound on the camera
That's it for now...
The bottom half of my screen is pink, I will be attempting an exchange tonight
I wish the volume was a little louder. On the s3 I ran freegs3 rom by clark44 great mods especially the sound boost mod he included with aroma installer. I was spoiled by the loud speaker. Where the hell is the Galaxy suite in this phone? This phone could definitely use a mean update.

Haven't had much time to actually use the phone yet but here are two that I know of.
1. Pinch to zoom
2. If you are rooted navigate to /system/csc. Edit feature.xml. Set shuttersoundmenu to true and reboot. You will now see an option to turn it on and off from settings. You can do a lot with that file like enable camera while in a call.

I am not happy with the video playback on this phone. When the movie is dark, the screen gets pixelated and the video looks terrible. Only happens when there is a lot of black in the video.
EDIT - I have quickly found the fix to that issue. I had to go to display options on the phone and set the screen mode to Movie.
i wish they stuck with roman numerals...

I love the 90s. Good times.
Just 2 on my end. Other than these, I couldn't be much happier.
1: The wifi problems I'm having where it drops the connection, then re-connects every minute or two. Sometimes it doesn't actually drop it, but it won't pass data through. Does it at home and at work, so I'm fairly sure it's phone related. If it keeps up, I may be exchanging it.
2: It doesn't send my contacts to the bluetooth system in my car. This one is pretty minor, so as long as it gets fixed at some point in the future, I'll be ok with it.
Very slow download speeds from the play store almost an hour just to download a app that's only 3 mb

The svdo capability was only available in the s4 krait chip set. Snapdragon600 doesn't support 3g data while on a call. You do have svLTE, though.

Hi All,
Newbie here so please be gentle with me, love the look of this fourm so thought I would join in!
I purchased the Nokia 7 Plus here in the UK (TA-1055 model) about a week ago and I am very happy with it, I do have a few questions tho...
What does it mean by unlocking the bootloader? what does this do and what can you do once you have done this?
Is it really worth using the google camera app instead of the stock Nokia camera app?
Other tips on getting more battery life (not that I run out, just curious as to what settings you can change)
Also I am not getting the notification dots come up on any apps and the notification dot settings is set to on
Look forward to hearing your wise words!
I have the same model.
Unlocking bootloader is necessary to make root access workable and change ROMs etc. If you don't know what that means then don't bother with it
Yes it's really worth to use Google Camera app for normal photos (not videos). The difference is unbelievable. Use APK and settings from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76834155&postcount=267
Don't know how you can improve battery life (never bother with this, Android does this automatically) and get your notification dots working (notification dots need special permissions if you use another launcher).

Hi mate,
Thanks for your reply, dont think I will bother with the bootloader stuff as sounds too complicated for me lol.
Ok thats great will try that camera app! and how come dont use it for videos? I have just upgraded to this phone from a Moto G4+ and was seriously considering swapping this for a Moto G6 plus but really want to give this phone a chance! as i do like it!
And as for notification dots I managed to sort that in the special permissions settings by turning on launcher 3!
Video will not work well with Pixel camera because mainly of sound. The Nokia uses a special sound system with several mics called Ozo Sound. So it's best to use it with the Nokia camera itself.
Ok thanks, and is the sound quality noticeable when playing the video back on the phone or on a pc?
And not sure if this is something I can change in settings but the gcam won't zoom in when I want to take a photo is this right?
I think noticeable on both.
There is no good zoom in gcam because there is no Google phone camera with an optical zoom or second lens (so no support for second lens).

Hi all,
For some reason some notifications are not visible on the statusbar.
They can be seen on the Always On display, and if you pull down the statusbar the notifications are visible there, but not on the statusbar itself as an icon.
I noticed that you can configure each app individually to either show or not, but in my case they all are configured to show the icon.
Might this be a bug? Has anyone else this same issue?
Edit: I just found the cause. Some apps have 'categories' in the 'Manage notifications' submenu. You have to click on these categories and in that submenu you have the option 'Display on statusbar'! No idea why some where set to OFF.

Coming from an S10+ (just like you) you will notice an incredible speed difference. I always believed the S10 was fast (enough). But the Oppo is on a whole new level.
Charging speeds are insane, but that probably is because I have been anti-spoiled by Samsung for so long
It's also worthy to mention that the device doesn't heat up while charging, so it's much more comfortable to hold.
The Oppo is 20 grams or so heavier, which doesn't sound like much, but I really notice it. It's also a bit top heavy, so be careful when holding it
It feels great in your hands though. The back side is indeed fingerprint proof if you get the blue matte version.
The OS has a lot of customization to offer, and I love the (off screen) gestures (I have now also switched from navigation buttons to gestures for navigations).
OneUI has even more options though! Especially if you were using Good Lock. I miss the option to have thumbnails in the task manager. I even miss the bixby button which could be reprogrammed
Face unlock is really fast, as is the FP unlock. If you hold the sensor after unlocking you get a shortcut to 5 favorite apps.
It's a great way to open your hue app or a remote, I just keep forgetting about it and release too soon
Oh, the screen protector is terrible, especially if you want to use the gestures you always move your finger over the edge and it doesn't feel comfortable. So I ripped it off.
Finally I tried out the native launcher, but reverted back to Nova quickly. It's not possible to replace the folder icons by a custom icon.

And last question (I promise ) the native apps is it from Google (Gmail, chrome, Google calendar,...) ? Or Oppo (like Samsung mail or Samsung calandar version Oppo ) ? Thanks again
It has a lot of Google apps builtin. I didn't really see many Oppo equivalents.
However, some apps can't be uninstalled, which I hate. Think Facebook.

Cannot select new default messaging app [ TEXTRA] . Cannot , or cannot recall how to select default Launcher [EVIE]. Hope we get ROMs here eventually so to have it behave more like a OnePlus /US phone than a Chinese phone.

It's not possible to replace the folder icons by a custom icon.

default Launcher? I haven't set one for a couple of years, but now I cannot seem to figure how to choose my own preferred [Evie] , or why I cannot set default Messaging App [Textra], or get back my SMS/MMS that are backed up by Google1 to G-Drive.
How did you get Nova as chosen default Launcher?

I just installed Nova and it set itself as the default.
But if you go to settings and type default app then you can set all the default apps too.

I have no use for BREENO[in Chinese] or Hey Tap[ seems to replace a familiar Android System admin app] .. Cannot use Google1 to restore old SMS/MMS from my Oneplus5. Cannot select new default messaging app [ TEXTRA] . Cannot , or cannot recall how to select default Launcher [EVIE]. Hope we get ROMs here eventually so to have it behave more like a OnePlus /US phone than a Chinese phone.
Help!

Where did you buy your phone? I guess you have a Chinese OS Version?
I have no Breeno, no textra or Hey Tap.

Example: Settings, Messaging App: only shows choice Oppo-native, installed one. In Textra it prompts to make it default,, but sending a message results in the device declaring for some security reason it is resetting default to OPPO-native. BTW, OPPO-native is a low function featurelss app.
Launcher: old OnePlus5 in Default Apps has category: Home app [Launcher selection] , nothing like it in the choices under Default Apps on the FindX3pro
Google1 blocked from backing up MMS
My preferred File Manager: ES File Explorer pro lets me attempt to attach my G-Drive [cloud], passes through all the steps correctly, only to conclude "Auth Failed". The g-dive is fully accessible using the Google Drive app, but integration with ES is convenient, has been for years.
Any idea on how to address 'security issues' for either messaging or ES File Explorer?

Exactly, AliExpress straight from China. Language: English fine, but perhaps I was sloppy not being sure of a "Global version" . Any thoughts? Patience: Wait for rooting and ROMs?
Where did you get yours? Version?
Textra? I installed. My preferred Messaging App [ LOL, not OPPO's clearly]

I got one from my provider in Holland. International version.
Maybe it is possible to update it with an international ROM? I don't know if the connectivity is working fine too, 4G, 5G?

Sure look forward to giving it a try. Not even sure if there are tiny differences that would make the intl-ROM incompatible. I'm getting OTAs but the Chinese ones I think
[4G coverage good, not noticed or had 5G yet].
Over the last 4yrs I think I only took OTA from OnePlus & rooted it. The 4yrs prior the lock on the Samsung Note4 was never 'broken', Then 3 yrs prior with the Samsung Galaxy Captivate I sure enjoyed XDA-roms & rooting, but that was long ago, & I'm still dependent on skills of others.

I quit custom roms after the S7. And that one had a OneUI based 'optimized' ROM.
Maybe you can try this (I haven't just saw it yesterday in my ColorOS telegram group)

Problem with Nova or any custom launcher on any Android 11 phone is that the navigation gestures dont work properly, there is a screen flicker issue when you swipe to go to homescreen. Thats why i am stuck with stock launcher on any new phone i get.
I have just had CPH2305_11_A.18 pushed to my UK X5 Pro with the April security update and now scrolling in the Google play store is unusable, It's a complete stuttery mess!
I've rebooted twice and still the same, It's so bad It's unreal and not been tested.
This has to be to be down to these stupid LTPO displays messing about with the refresh rate constantly and what makes matters worse OPPO do not have any option whatsoever like Samsung to force 120Hz all the time whether it's in the display options or dev options.
Can someone test this out with the new update, It's a total mess for scrolling in the play store now since the update.
How do we report bugs to OPPO?
Weird it seems to be a little smoother now, I still don't think this variable refresh changing is helping to keep things smooth.
Hey, just tested play store. Yes not the smoothest experience. Seems to get confused between down and sideways swipes. It works fine on an actual list of items.
Glad to see the power button can now actually be a power button. They're clearly listening

Yes it wasn't like that when I got the phone it was smooth in the play store and 100% correct it keeps scrolling sideways even though I am not, No Idea what's going on but it seems a right mess to me.
For sure I was definitely missing that feature with the power button and now they have fixed that at least, I guess they take users feedback which is a positive.
hi there,
i use this to force the 120hz all the time, dont know if will help you with your problem.

Hey thanks for that I think someone else suggested that which worked for YouTube but I wonder if this is a newer version and works with Instagram also I'll give it a go thank you!
Updates seem to always have a processing period where the first few hours/days would have issues in lag. Once the update has finished (including adapting to other apps), it works better.

Apparently, it takes time for the 3rd party apps to adapt to the new update. It is especially true when you're in Beta version.
i agree there are micro stutters gitters throughout the ui on new update. like pulling down notification panel also.

That app doesn't work for me Google photos is a slow refresh rate, but if I use the one from the Video it works great.
The stutter like pulling noticificafion bar down has always been there with the Video app even after factory resetting :/
