Ivan 5.1.0 latest update
I'm using IVAn's 5.1. It is very stable and fast. Battery is also good. I won't say it is best because everyone different explanation for best. If you like AOSP environment Ivans 5.1 is best
(UPDATED on 08-05-15)
CMTE- has CM Theme Engine;
RRO- RRO/Layers themeing);
X- Extended partition layout;
S- Stock partition layout (also works with extended ofc);
_._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._
First of all, this is all MY opinion (SEE THIS POST)
That being said:
-Ivan AOSP 5.0.2 (Latest- 5.1.1)(haven't used 5.1 for long; 5.1.1 at all):
(No theming; S)
PROs- Full Xposed and Gravitybox compatibility (except on 5.1), OTA updates (NOT incremental I believe, you have to DL the full zip)
CONs- next to no integrated features, no support.
-Mokee 5.0.2 (Latest- 5.1.1)
(CMTE; S)
PROs- Awesome update mechanism (incremental OTAs), official support, regular updates.
CONs- Nothing much really, but I felt it's not AS feature-rich as, say, Resurrection Remix or XenonHD.
-BlissPop 5.0.2
(CMTE, S?)
PROs- Sh*t ton of features, official support
CONs- Apparently battery life is unimpressive, irregular updates.
-XenonHD 5.1.1 (Feature Review)
(RRO; XS)
PROs- Superb themeing framework (RRO/Layers), stable
CONs- None according to me.
(EXTRA- I am currently using XenonHD with Stuxnet+ kernel and it is the best combo I've found. Even after aggressive undervolting I have faced NO UI lags or the likes)
-Resurrection Remix 5.1.1
(CMTE; S?)
PROs- LOT of features, OTA updates (incremental)
CONs- None, haven't used long enough to judge.
(You can also check out audahadi and Bitti09's CM12.1 builds; I personally prefer CM-based ROMs over CM, so I haven't tried them; Sorry, audahadi and Bitti09, I love your work though!)
BUGS:
I shall list some common bugs present in most (not all) custom ROMs (some may have one, others may have another)
1. Call bug v1- Our old enemy seems to be back in some ROM/kernel combos. This bug causes the touchscreen to be active even when proximity sensor turns screen off during calls.
Solution- Manually lock screen with Power button before talking.
2. Call bug v2- This one makes your phone go into a sort of screen-off death. The display will not turn on, no notification lights, and phone will not charge. You have to hold power button for 12-15 seconds to hard reboot.
Occurs mostly during calls (hence the name) but on the VERY rare occasion, may happen other times.
Solution- Manually lock screen with Power button before talking.
3. HDR in landscape- Common in ALL(?) ROMs (even MIUI; try HDR with Google Camera on MIUI ;p). Camera freezes when taking HDR pic in landscape 90 degrees.
Solution- Hold the phone at 270 degrees orientation (capacitive keys to your left). Then take HDR pic. Smile. Thank god you'd read this thread through. Hit the Thanks button. Kiss your phone and die peacefully.
In the end, you should find your match yourself. :good:

CONs- Nothing much really, but you need to flash Ivan's kernel (get the flashable zip from my thread) to get data working.
-BlissPop 5.0.2

CONs- Apparently battery life is unimpressive, irregular updates.
-XenonHD 5.0.2
PROs- Superb themeing framework (RRO/Layers), stable
CONs- Don't expect too many updates, dev only updates when there are major changes.
-Resurrection Remix 5.1
PROs- Android 5.1, didn't use long enuf to judge
CONs- moonlight's ROMs have dubious 3rd party apps, no official Xposed.

I know about that.
I've tried it too, but GravityBox doesn't work (dev said he won't support 5.1 till official Xposed comes) and neither does XGELS (which is more imp to me), so...
Using ivan latest aosp rom.. Just need a rom with no call bug and bluetooth speaker.. Coz i'm selling speaker and phone in a shop..
Ivan's latest 5.1 ROM is my choice.
It's stable, fast and reasonable electricity consumption.
Moreover, provision of OTA update is really convenient.
bout blisspop rom, any mods like in xenonHD that can disable heads up notification?

I'm not trying to influence you (as I said, it's a matter of personal preference) but considering your points in favour of Ivan's, I have a suggestion for you.
Why don't you try Mokee 5.0.2 NIghtlies? It is stable, fast, and has good battery too. As for updates, it has OTAs and gets MUCH more regular updates (Nightly updates, but there are sometimes no builds for couple of nights).
On top of that, TON of more features (+THEMES!!).
Only bugs as of latest (once you flash my kernel fix zip):
-FM Radio doesn't work.
-Locking (while in an app) with Power button takes you to homescreen.
-(VERY RARE) Sometimes after rebooting, Camera will not work. You have to reboot a couple of more times to fix it...
If you can live with those, I'd suggest switching to Mokee.

Are you sure there's no way to do that in the Bliss Interface settings or in Settings>Notification?? I haven't used Bliss in some time, but I remember their being a section for Head Up.
I really like MoKee even though it has some bugs. Remove those bugs and it's definitely a good choice. I might not come back to MIUI even if they release their Lollipop based ROM.

This ROM doesn't support OTA yet.
There's a version here on XDA, maybe it will have OTA in the future, but just after the new kernel will be in perfect state.
This newer version what I use is created by Chinese developers.

Hey all,
So I recently developed an Xposed module while running KitKat. I released it and users are having trouble getting it to work correctly when running Lollipop 5.1.1 - can someone recommend me a stable ROM with working Bluetooth, SMS, and support for Xposed?

There are many great ROMs on every variant of the HTC One M7 that run well on 5.1.1. My personal favorite is Candy5, which can be found here.
In terms of Xposed itself, as long as you flash the correct framework flashable for the version of Android you're running, (in your case, 5.1.1) then everything will work.
For the correct framework files to flash on top of your 5.1.1 ROM of choice, here they are.
Get the arm version, NOT arm64. Arm is the compatible version for our phone.
On top of this, you need to install the .apk for Xposed as well to utilize the framework modules (this shouldn't be a surprise to you, as you've used Xposed on KitKat)

I use Candy5 as a daily driver and actually, I helped the ROM developer fix the static noise you mentioned. The link for the full ROM with that fix can be found here. It's by far the smoothest (and most stable) stock-like ROM on the m7spr because of the wonderful Candy Kernel baked in.

You're right in that Lollipop ROMs have pretty terrible battery life. This one has much better battery than any other ROM on stock Android. It's not great, but it is rather good once your battery is optimized to it, considering.
For example, I went to a theme park with this ROM and I would check my phone just about every ten minutes. When I got to the park itself, it was only on 10% (reason being because I didn't charge it overnight, haha!). With power saver mode enabled, it lasted over three hours before dying, which is impressive for any ROM, let alone a Lollipop ROM.
It's a fine accomplishment of the CandyROM team for sure.

Hi,
I am using Ivan's AOSP latest build at the moment. I want to switch to another custom ROM. Which is the best ROM with high battery backup, most stable, best performance and features . Although I would appreciate some cool animations and stuff, I want the above said features as priority.
What about Mokee and cm 12.1?
Which one is better?

Try the Paranoid Android 5.1.1 by synnyG http://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi-3/development/cancro-t3120485
Its very stable, fast and fluid. Battery life is pretty good, able to get through a full day on regular use. Camera quality is much much better than Ivan's AOSP build, and installing the Color OS camera port is a good idea. A few bugs exists though, but for me these were negligible compared to the lollipop goodness I was getting.
1. The Audio quality through the speaker is not like stock or Ivans AOSP, I guess this is true for other Mi3 custom roms as well. You can find fixes for this, but they merely increase the volume in the mixer_paths.xml file - quality is still not at par with stock.
2. No SIM Bug. It's there for many Lollipop based ROM's. There is a simple workaround so its not much of an issue (switch on Airplane Mode before reboot to solve the issue). Fixes via flashable zip are available on XDA as well.
Overall its a great ROM and I'm using it as my daily driver after having switched from Ivan's AOSP (KK).
SlimBit-AOSP
Hi,
coming from Ivan's AOSP you could try Bitti's SlimBit AOSP, it's fast and stable. No call drops or random reboots. I can highly recommend it.
[OFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 12.1
i'm very happy with OFFICIAL CM 12.1.
i've been using it for 3 weeks and have yet to discover a single bug! not a single reboot, no SIM bug, it's great. battery life is great, at least 24h in my case. it's very smooth, too.
one of the advantages of official CM is that you get daily/weekly updates that automatically dirty flash themselves.
others are: stock android look, lots of customisations, no bloatware, beautiful and easily installable cyanogenmod themes.
#edit:
its XDA thread is the one with (by far) the most replies (almost 1'200), indicating that there is a large community behind it. many bugs are being reported efficiently and fixed. see for example its BUG PAGE.

Hi. i want to know where i can get best speed and battery. I want to know your experience
And please only cm stats
On 4.4.4 (kitkat based rom) I was able to get 3 days battery backup, for performance I like 6.0 stock
Just to mention I have never been able to like any Rom based on Lollipop firmware
I would say, marshmallow>Kitkat>lollipop (cm official with default kernel)
The last CM 12.1 nightlies are very stable and I get easily 4-5 hours of SoT (some users report even more 6h), which is enough for me, and I definitely can't complain about performance which is great. For me the best rom for G2 so far.
Hmm thanks you :v Waiting for more because your opinions are contradictory
Best mix of performance and battery so far: Minimal OS 5.1.1. Have to say that I haven´t checked out marshmallow til now, I´m very satisfied with this rom and don´t have a reason to change atm.
Stock marshmallow soak test is the best so far, and i´ve flashed A LOT of roms.
CM :
4.4 : I haven't tested long enough to decide on anything.
5.1 : Snapshots are really stable and pretty balanced.
6.0 : Using Vatsals Optimised Builds. Its amazing. Check his new Rom /Kernel thread for info.
I can get like 5 hours of screen on time with CM 12.1 and a nice performance
Just installed cm 12.1. It's little laggy.
Thanks for answers i will test minimal os and check Vatsals Optimised Builds (also i'll add this to the Index :v).
Waiting for more :v

You are awesome like this rom! Thanks you very very much dude. I love this rom. I can have 5 apps in background and 0 lag. When I open 3 apps on cm11 everything gets laggy and unusable. 6.0 is broken by now (apps not working)
Anyway minimal os don't have massaging app and camera xD
Its "Minimal" Os, it'll be as minimalistic as possible.
So I switched over from Vatsals Opti Cm Builds to Tamaseks Unofficial Cm 13 and I've got to say. Its kinda good. Some things good and some bad (the usual). But still its in its early stages so can't expect much from MM. Gone back to LP for now.

Just to give you an update, I just removed AOKP because whenever I try to make a call through a Bluetooth device (like my car's hands free system), it completely messes up the phone and eventually force reboots. These roms are based on early versions of CM14.1 (we don't even have official CM14.1 builds yet) so some bugs are to be expected, but they're all being updated very regularly so I expect that they will be virtually bug free in a no time. Just keep trying them until you find one that works for you.

Also @calsurferpunk just re-synced his "unofficial" CM14 to RR's builds to hope to get that stability. Previously he was uing crDroids database (or whatever). His unofficial CM14 builds are a hybrid of more bare bones CM and everything-including-the-kitchen sink tweaks of custom ROMs. His builds have the more popular tweaks, like being able to download Moto apps and a couple more, but are not change-everything ROMs.

I really appreciate your assistance with this mate. I remember back when we had mofo and your only option was basically build an image yourself or take whatever one guy was developing. I'm really thankful we have evolved no thanks to the developers like chainfire and all the wonderful people who still care for our 3900mah mini Nexus 6... Or at least close enough
Edit: I will try out CM14.1 Unofficial for a day and see how that goes. I really want to stay away from "kitchen sink" roms because of the restarts. Thanks again for your help
Greetings Forums Members,
I thought I'd make a post here and get your opinions about what ROM to use. - I'm currently running Resurrection Remix from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...esurrection-remix-04-09-2017-t3587049/page420
So far everything seems to be running really well on this ROM, but before this Rom I was running Stock Rom with Marshmallow, then updated to nougat MIUI 9 or something like that and I really hated it... So I wiped, re-flashed the original Marshmallow Rom using Mi Tool. I then decided to install TWRP and Root my device and keep it on stock MM. It was really good and treated me well for the longest time. Eventually, I got bored of it and decided to try out some custom Roms.
I wanted to ask you all which Rom is currently the best Rom to use for the Mi Mix, would really appreciate some advice here. I'm mainly looking for something with good Battery Life and Fast/Smooth Rom.
- Thanks

I wanted to ask you all which Rom is currently the best Rom to use for the Mi Mix, would really appreciate some advice here. I'm mainly looking for something with good Battery Life and Fast/Smooth Rom.
- Thanks

AICP, It is the best and I think that besides Epic rom and Lineage that it is the only good one that is still maintained.

Thank you very much for your prompt and detailed response.
I'm currently using Resurrection Remix (ROM) - What are your thoughts on that? I personally find it to be really good because of the many feature it has included in the (ROM) - For example; you can really customize the (ROM) however you see fit. I find that to be the most appealing thing about the (ROM).
I'll be sure to give some of the other (ROMS) a try before settling on this one. I have yet to transfer all my dad over anyways since I've only been testing it so far. I'd like to make sure that there aren't many flaws before I settle.

Speaker switching in phone call and proximity sensor both work better in AICP, probably not a deal breaker, weekly updates and soon Oreo which there are a couple already.

I'll be sure to give it a try and see how it is. I decided to settle with RR now but I should definitely try out other (ROMS) before completely settling with RR since its the first custom (ROM) I've tried. I must say though that RR is very stable and has no flaws. Battery life is also very good.

RR hasn't been updated in months and likely won't be. AICP is the closest in terms of functionality (lots of config options etc) and is still updated weekly. Also, Oreo ROMs are starting to land (finally) so you might want to try those. I just built AICP for Oreo yesterday and I'm running it now. No major issues so far.

I asked for permission to release it unofficially, at least until they start releasing their own official Oreo builds. Hopefully I hear back soon.

I appreciate your advice here Gavin. I'll be sure to give AICP a try, it sounds very interesting.
- hopefully we'll get a chance to see you present your hard work with the 8.0 Oreo (ROM).
Viper is a great base rom if you want to customize it a lot

Awesome. Thanks for your input.
I've tried several ROMs that you've all recommended except for Viper. So far in my opinion I'd have to say RR has been the best in terms of speed, reliability and battery life. However, I'd like to give Viper a try as well just to see how it is in comparison to RR.
What version is it currently and what are your thoughts on Viper ROM ?

ViperOS is dead. Hasn't been updated in months and likely never will be. Rumours of an Oreo update hang on an article/video in Brazilian (where the team lead is/was based) showing it running on some device.
If you want to stick with Nougat for now, go AICP (more configuration options) or Lineage (closer to stock AOSP). Nougat ROMs are the only ones with custom kernels as yet too.
None of the Oreo ROMs are without issue for now, although they are minor for the most part. Another 1-2 should be along soon to add to Pixel Experience/Cardinal/RR/AICP.
I'm using @gavin19 's unofficial RR Oreo ROM. Love it. There are some minor issues but they shouldn't deprive you from trying it out. I strongly recommend it

Awesome. Thanks for reporting here and letting me know. I'll definitely be sure to give it a try and see how it is.
As I understand there's not going to be an official Oreo update for the Mi Mix... It sucks bit at least we have custom ROMs to make up for it and that is amazing!!!!!!!! I hope we get it working good real soon!!!!

Ya I need to try Crdroid, as I am on AICP and i havent really had any issues with that rom it works great and I can customize it like I want.
I am very excited i saw that ViperOs has figured out the Oreo 8.1 and has released a few roms, im hopeful someone will find a way to get that working for the Mi Mix!!!!
I think the best rom ever made for xiaomi mi mix is the Xiaomi.eu MIUI8 Stable v8.5.4.0
Reasons:
~ Unlike all custom roms, the miui uses the whole screen and has real rounded corners and not software made ones which makes the screen look better!
~ The MIUI 8 for MI MIX includes a gesture to hide the navigation bar and have a full screen in any app that you want, you can easly control it when ever you want, best rom for full screen exprience when ever you want! also when you do swipe to hide the nav bar the apps use the whole screen and there are no black bars! none of the custom roms have that!
~ version 8.5.4.0 has no bugs in it and has the best battery life you will ever see on the MIX
~ all Xiaomi.eu Pros and features!
~ Proximity sensor works perfectly and loud in this miui version, you cant find any custom rom that has that working perfectly these days
~ Camera is very good on the official MIUI version!
~ all the MIUI pros and features
~ NO HEAT of the phone, something that happens in a lot of custom roms I used
~ Please note that you can use MIUI9 from Xiaomi.eu if you want, but you will lose the stablity and swipe to hide the nav bar amd the phone heats a lot (but you get android 7, and all the new features) not recomended on the MIX
I have used tons of custom roms on my phone: LineageOS, RR, AICP, AOSP. AIOSP, DIRTY UNICORNS, PIXEL EXPERIENCE. none of the are as stable as that rom and I always go back to that rom.
Have a great day!

Yeah, Viper is most definitely a good Rom to use. I've used it on many other devices before and it has always performed rather well. It's a grea Rom overall and the customization is what really caught my attention. So I vote Yes, viper is indeed a good Rom to use on the Mi Mix and just about every other phone that supports it. AiCP is also a very good Rom on the Mi Mix.

I don't know man... I've never found the battery life to be good on stock ROM. I completely understand what you're saying though. However, if I'm being perfectly honest here, I wouldn't go back to using stock. Don't get me wrong it's very well-built and smooth but the battery life has always been horrible for me not sure why...

Hi Bro want to find out more from you based on your experience
I have updated to latest weely rom 9.6 - 8.5.3 but my Line ap still cannot open.
I want to go bac to stable rom as you said. What do you suggest and how to do it? I am afraid I will lose the history in whatsapp and other chat apps if clean install.

Backup & restore? Whatsapp chats and media files can be backed up to your Google drive and there are other options available for backup as well.
Same thing can be done for messages if you use the Google messenger app for texting and if not, you can still backup your messages and contacts very easily by using this 3rd party app to do so... Which uses Google drive. Also this app backs up call logs, contacts and SMS messages. App name: SMS BACKUP & RESTORE.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore
As far as apps and settings go you can always just use your Google account to backup all apps/files/data if you have the option turned on in settings of course.
General SD files like media files (pics, vids, etc.) can be backed up manually using your computer and internal storage or by uploading them to the cloud... which is for free.
How to revert back to stock? There are many guides available right here on the forums, if you just take a closer look you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.
