Install 10.3.1.B.0.256 on Rotted SO-02E?
Has anyone figured out a way to install 10.3.1.B.0.256 on a rooted SO-02E yet?
I Rooted my Phone using EasyRootingToolkit_XPEIRAZ_SO-02E_v101, and would like to upgrade to 4.2.2 but the OTA install fails at about 15%
Thanks

Having a similar issue here.
Any ideas?
Has anyone tried using DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit.zip from this thread? Since it's possible to root 10.1.D.0.343 I would try upgrading to 10.3.1.B.0.256 first, then install 10.1.D.0.343 kernel using Flashtool, then root using DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit.zip then install the new 10.3.1.B.0.256 kernel. I would create a 10.3.1.B.0.256.ftf and test it but I'm on a business trip in Australia at the moment and don't have the time.
Does any knowledgeable person have any update on this situation?
Any tips of what we Docomo users should do? I don't want to lose my root. And other users point out updating outright doesn't work anyway.
I'll pay a beer to whomever helps us Docomo sheep out

Have you looked at the DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit.zip thread? The same procedure should apply since you can root 10.1.D.0.343's kernel.
1. Upgrade to 10.3.1.B.0.256 (you'll lose root at this point)
2. install 10.1.D.0.343's kernel
3. root using DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit.zip
4. install 10.3.1.B.0.256 kernel
5. profit!!!

Thx, but my phone's bootloader is locked (as are all Docomo phones). I thought it was impossible to install a different kernel then. Not t mention that some people noted that the OTA upgade doesn't work if your pone is rooted. Haven't tried it myself though.
Losing root does not mean I lose CWM, right?
Edit: So I tried updating it, the update just stops after 2-3 minutes, the phone reboots and I get a message 'update failed, please try again'.

it'll still work with the SO-02E locked bootloader. I too am on SO-02E locked bootloader docomo and have tested this method using 10.3.1.A.2.67. After installing 10.3.1.B.0.256 you'll have to reinstall 10.1.D.0.343's kernel using Flashtool then just use rootkit to root it and finally reinstall 10.3.1.B.0.256's kernel using Flashtool.
I usually create my own .ftf files and use Flashtool to upgrade. I can't test it since I'm in Australia at the moment but it should work as long as you have 10.1.D.0.343's kernel installed....just don't forget to reinstall 10.3.1.B.0.256 afterwards. You'll lose CMW/TWRP so you'll have to reinstall it afterwards.
I've been trying to do the OTA update. But it keeps failing. I was pretty confident with my old Galaxy Note, flashing new roms and kernels almost every day, but I can't seem to get the hang of fooling around with my Xperia Z. I'm really afraid of losing my NFC-Felica functions, I need them daily for my commute.
I think the update fails because of my root. I could reflash an original ROM, but then I will loose root and recovery if I understand it correctly. The update will probably work, but can I reflash 434 then to root it? (434 was Android 4.1.2 and the new firmware is 4.2.2).
I'm kinda confused (and very stupid apparently .
SO-02E 10.3.1.B.0.256 can be rooted
Follow this link if you want to root your SO-02E 10.3.1.B.0.256.
The site's in Japanese but just scroll a bit and click on rootkitZ_20131112.zip and install it.

The issue I am running into is that I cannot make the OTA Update (Step 1)work with or without losing the root.
If I could get to that point I'm pretty sure I could follow the procedure to to reroot the device, I just need to get the initial upgrade taken care of.
Any Thoughts?
Thanks
thanks

I had exactly the same problem, impossible to remove the root correctly to make the OTA work. In the end I just used flashtool to put stock 434 back on the phone. The OTA worked perfectly after that. Especially now that you can root 256 it's a non issue. Make a backup with Titanium backup of your apps on your SD card before restoring it. You can use it to put all your apps back after you root 256. A bit annoying, but all in all it's the easiest way I've found.
Thanks
That worked. Thanks to everyone for all your help.
after rooting .256.. is it possible to install a custom rrecovery and a custom rom?

Hello everyone,
I would like to know how to convert a non-installable system apk (/system/app/*.apk) into a normally installable apk file.
If there are some needed tools please provide links as this will help me very much doing what I'm planning to do after my exams.
Thanks in advance
Regards,
~J2C
Why do you need a installable files when you can flash them via recovery to get them work properly? ..just asking..

No you can't.
You need root.
But you can install it on a non rooted device and root it at the same time on a 534 FTF

Convert file System Apks to installable once, I think is not that simple and I hope someone know how to do that. Otherwise is simpler install recovery and flash them. Sorry to not help much more.

But lets get back to the topic, How to make the system apk installable? (I know that some apks in /system/app are installable, but I'm talking about the non-installable ones)

This part is not clear to me. If I installing the Recovery on non rooted device, how the recovery will root it at the same time? I will still have recovery without root.
Option 3 > installation on unrooted ROM.

Because the installation script can gain a temporary root shell
It uses that to install the dual recovery
then its as simple as flashing SuperSU.zip or a pre rooted rom to gain "Full" root.

No, there is no one-click root. I haven't seen anyone working on it, but it may show up eventually, or it may never. I wouldn't hold my breath.

Is there a way to root without a computer?
if you've got custom recovery already installed then you can root via system-less root.

Then unfortunately you won't be able to root without a computer.
At the very least, you have to have a custom recovery installed in order to root, but that needs to be flashed with ODIN. Once you have the custom recovery, you can then flash systemless root or a root kernel.
I might be incorrect in saying this, but I think a custom recovery requires a custom kernel as well.
