AT&T S Galaxy S6 Edge on Tmobile - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

Hey I know most samsung phones can be switched over I just want to know if the AT&T S6 Edge can be unlocked and thrown on T-Mobile and still use LTE etc? My brother has AT&T and an upgrade and I have the note 4 from tmobile he wants that so i can get the S6 edge free

I imagine sense there the same bands yes you can take a att phone unlock it and use it on Tmobile....
Though I don't get why it makes sense to take a Tmobile phone and take it to att. not so much the other way around. Comparing Phones Tmobil sells the better phone, Bootloader Unlocked and features left intact. Att Phone. Bootloader Locked, known features Cut from phone. So if you like Tmobile service you should get a Tmobil phone, if you like Att's service ((it is bigger area coverage though not as fast in Hi pop areas)) bringing over a Tmobile phone is almost a +

Well the At&t one is free on my end lol my brother is giving me it

[Q] flash AT&T on verizon note 3?

So my father in law pre-ordered a note 3 for me.
Yet I am not on Verizon. I am on AT&T.
I have been flashing for years on my androids, But, I am unsure if I can flash AT&T firmware to make it work properly on my network. (at least until I start flashing other roms!) Any help would be good.
I don't want to sell or trade it in, MY Wife would be sooooooo pissed!!! she would definately know.
So, can i just reflash AT&T firmware on the verizon phone?
Thanks in advance.
From my understanding nope. Something to do with the bootloader. To be totally honest I don't know the details, I just tried to find that out a year ago when looking for phones on craigslist.
Tell your wife there's nothing you can do and sell the thing. It's not that big of a deal really. You'll get a pretty penny for it and will be able to have almost the entire price of a new one from verizon.
Vzw is cdma and att is gsm the phone will not work. There is no fixing hardware in the phone
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Xparent BlueTapatalk 2
Yup, won't work. Even if you could flash the ATT ROM, the hardware is different.
I have a similar question. Can I flash international and other gsm roms on a tmo note.?
Like I can on my s4?

Just switch to Verizon and cancel ur AT&T service. It is impossible to flash AT&T onto verizon device.

what? Why? What kind of relationship are You in!?
The posts here are ALL INCORRECT...... YES Verizon is a CDMA carrier, But what does there LTE run on??? GSM....
NO you cant flash AT&Ts Note 3 rom on a Verizon note 3. Just pop your AT&T Sim card in, Set up your APN and set the phone to GSM only and BAM it just works no root no mod no nothing.
You WONT get LTE, Only 3G and Edge.
This works on the Verizon Galaxy S3 and the Verizon Galaxy S4....
Some necessary info . . .
"You WONT get LTE, Only 3G and Edge"
The S4 will work perfectly on AT&T, by simply calling them and asking for a free SIM card, assuming you are an AT&T customer. And, LTE works perfectly, as well.
~Speaking from experience.
the verizon note 3 is already factory unlocked all you have to do is go into the settings and click GSM and set ur apn settings and you will not get LTE but you will have hspa+ and full talk and text with no issues

At&t note 3 on cricket wireless / aio

I'm planning on buying a note 3 at&t branded because I'd be using it on at&ts network but through cricket wireless. Does anyone have any exp in doing this? Does everything work? And LTE?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
I think you'll be one of the first to test this. Cricket use to be cdma style communication whereas at&t is gsm. I believe at&t just merged aio wireless and cricket thus changing cricket from cdma to gsm. If this is true you won't have any problems whatsoever. Just pop in the SIM and it will probably update the apn settings automatically. You can find the apn settings on crickets website and enter them yourself if it doesn't.
Just to clarify I am already using aio/cricket for months on this device. All will work fine if you have been reading up on aio and cricket merger you would know att is killing off crickets cdma line and will be using GSM, op just make sure you let SM-N900A is UNLOCKED and that you get a sim card and you should be fine. As per 4g/4g lte you may as well go elsewhere you will get 4g/4g lte where available but remember AIO/CRICKET is throttled data, so no matter what you will be limited to a lower speed. If you need any help let me know I've been on aio for months (pre merger to the point I have an aio sim but cricket in the top left).
I'm from the Pittsburgh area but now I'm in savanna Georgia and I've had lte almost the whole way..... I'm on cricket wireless also and I've had no problems with them.... I get lte almost everywhere I go

Why to go with "Criplet" if you can have this with AT$T Note 3 on $30 T-M prepaid (the radio chip is much better than T-M original)

Not to he offensive but tmobile sucks. Tmobile only has coverage (4g/4g lte) in major cities, aio/cricket runs off of AT&T network so you already get better coverage. Speeds may be throttled but I can do everything off it on these speeds, youtube, milk music, pandora no problems. When I had tmobile I was constantly on "edge"/2g, but on aio/cricket 75% of the time I'm on 4g lte and the rest I'm on 4g. OP unless you plan on never leaving a major city, just get aio/cricket.
I was on AIO for about a month, and now am on the merged Cricket with an Unlocked Note 3 (for another month). The 4g LTE data speed is capped at 8mbps. I have no problem streaming whatever I want. I had Verizon and most of the time I only got around that speed anyway. I looked at about every MNVO and provider for a cheaper way to do smartphones, and for 3 smartphones, I am at only $115 a month total with 2.5gb per line. I put out about $700 on a Note 3 and 2 S4 phones, and am saving about $115 a month on what it would cost me with AT&T or Verizon. The coverage for AT&T in my area is excellent. I have also found that the online chat is very quick and helpful with any questions. So far I am very pleased.
AT&T basically threw out Cricket and merely put the brand onto their existing AIO wireless. Given that there are so many more Cricket stores, it makes sense.
I am looking to purchase a note 4 either with T-Mobile, Verizon, or Att Wireless and use it on Cricket Wireless since you guys have done this with the Note 3. Will I be able to pop the Cricket sim card in and let it update by air or will I have to unlock all of these phones for this to work.. Also any suggestions for mms .. 4g LTE..etc will be appreciated..

If you get the N4 AT&T branded phone and plan to use cricket, you just put in SIM. Within minutes, you will get the configuration message, install and you're ready to go. No unlocking needed. With the Verizon and T-Mobile phones, you'll have to unlock. However, with any phone, unless you are on that branded phones service, you will not get OTA to new OS versions. This is not that big of a deal since you are already on xda, you can just go to your forum and more than likely find a flashable. [emoji3]
Im also doing the same now, just got a ATT note 3 to use it on cricket.. i have a note 3 on sprint but i just switched jobs and dont have reception at all, im trying it and if it works i might go to ATT later on, or who knows i might stay at cricket.. is way cheaper and 8mps is good for what i use it.. 55 per month with 10 GB thats a hell of a deal, I use about 8 to 10 on sprint right now
Wow...
Ctfu, yeah, give me a sweet device with crappy coverage... That makes SOOO much sense? AT&T/Cricket/AIO all they way! Funny stuff, keep it comin'!

I'm not too much of a phone geek, but I just started using my ATT Note 3 on Cricket. My APN settings didn't automatically set with the Cricket SIM, but that was an easy change.
I'd suggest the ATT N4 just because ATT bought Cricket, and they're using the same towers now. All things the same, I think it would be the path of least resistance.
BTW, I was paying $120/mo. for Unlimited everything with a 20% corporate discount with ATT. I was only using an average of 1.8GB per month. That also included a partially subsidized phone every 2 years with a new contract.
Now my bill is $35/mo but I'll have to buy my next phone. I'm only on day 2 of the change, but it's a big deal for me after 14yrs with the same company.

I am currently using a AT&T branded Note 3 on Cricket, switched from Tmobile months ago. No need to unlock a AT&T branded phone or at least I didn't have to with my 3.
You can just put a SIM in and change the APN settings to Cricket's which are available on their website.
I've never had issues with dropped calls or losing data with Cricket. I'm paying 150 a month for 3 lines unlimited calls, texts and 10g data on each line.

N900a for Straight Talk LTE

I would like to buy Note 3 n900a so as to use it with Straight Talk carrier (using AT&T towers) on LTE data speed.
Will it work? Should I buy locked or unlocked version?
Or perhaps I should buy n900t unlocked version? I've seen the info that n900t is compatible with any LTE carriers in the US unlike n900a which supports only AT&T LTE.
The main issue for me is to get LTE data speeds.
Thanks!

In my "opinion" the 900t is superior over the 900a. The 900a has a locked bootloader where the 900t doesn't. The 900t is able to have a custom recovery installed which allows for custom roms and development. Since the 900a has a locked bootloader your stuck with the software and bloat that at&t has provided. If you don't care about software, the 900t is better for tmobile network, and the 900a is better for at&t's network.

I would assume the 900a would be better lte connection wise myself. If your really worried about connection speed, I wouldn't go with straight talk.
*30 day Unlimited Plans include 3 GB of high speed data per 30 day cycle. After 3 GB, your data speed will be reduced for the remainder of the 30 day cycle. High speed data is restored once a new 30 day service plan is redeemed at the end of the 30 day plan cycle. Other limitations, terms and conditions of service apply. Straight Talk reserves the right to terminate your service for unauthorized or abnormal usage.

Should I switch to Verizon. lol?
Sraight talk uses either an AT&T SIM or a T-Mobile SIM (the "unlocked" SIM is a T-Mobile SIM). The 900A will work - as is - with the AT&T SIM, the 900T will work with the T-Movile SIM.
First decide which network gives you better coverage. That will decide which phone you want. (Unless you care about being able to load different ROMs into the phone. You can't with the 900A - all ROMs are variants of he stock ROM - the bootloader is locked. In that case, if you want to use the phone on AT&T, you'll have to get the 900T unlocked.

Thanks. I gonna get n900A. ATT coverage is better than T-Mobile in SFBA and I don't care about ROM.
I use straight talk, have a locked AT&T note 3, and I get LTE speeds no problem, just have to set the APN

I have the "Straight Talk" AT&T Sim card that works perfect in the 900a model, I get LTE perfectly. I didnt even have to mess with my APN on this phone it all just worked.

[Q] Should an unlocked ATT S4 be as good as Tmobile S4 service?

I talked my wife into switching to Tmobile and gave her my S4 from ATT. Her service is not so good and I'm tired of hearing about it. I've tried different modems from ATT but no real improvement. Anyone have any experience on the subject? Aside from wifi calling, would a phone from Tmobile have the same service?

No, they use different bands. You can use a T-Mobile phone on AT&T just fine but an AT&T phone on T-Mobile will not get you the correct speed connections due to the limited bands AT&T uses. That is why I decided to go with the T-Mobile variant rather then any of the others.
I see. Its a tough one. Att is getting so locked down but tmobiles service is sketchy where I am. I would hate to pay for a new phone when the S4 is running great still. Damn. Thanks for the input.

You could sell the phone and purchase a T-Mobile variant of the same phone to run on AT&T or upgrade to a newer T-Mobile phone. The T-Mobile bands work great on AT&T network, just not the other way around. That's what I have done. I have tried the AT&T and the Verizon phones and they both work good on AT&T but if you want all around compatible phone, then T-Mobile phones are the way to go. Just get the unlock code and throw in any sim you want and set up the APN.

[Q] Can you use the S6 EDGE AT&T version on T-Mobile?

Can you use the S6 EDGE AT&T version on T-Mobile? Or would it be better to get one from T-Mobile and use that on AT&T and T-Mobile?
You can but only 3g I believe
T-Mobile probably since they have root and all that jive. But why would you want to have an ATT phone on T-Mobile?
Because I use ATT as well. I think the ATT variant didn't have 700mhz.

That's really good to know. I saw a video on YouTube I can't recall which one though that shows the At&t phone prompting to do a T-Mobile software upgrade. Of course this is after the phone is unlocked and a T-Mobile Sim card is inserted. Is that true or is it a load of manure. Thanks in advance!
