T-mobile My Account - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6

i have called t-mobile customer care just to find out if battery drain is a common issue, of course they denied it. But i was surprised to know that representative knew what apps are installed on my phone. Are they snooping ? Is it via T-mobile my account app ?

They shouldn't be via the app and it doesn't cause any excess drain at all.

Obviously they would know about all the stock apps that ship with the phone, which there are many of.
Did they know about apps you installed yourself too? That would be surprising...

+1 the My T-Mobile app can also tell if you are rooted and report it to a remote server. Only if you agreed to the diagnostic option

com.tmobile.pr.adapt may also report root status, so I put that on the SuperSU deny list.

i have just disabled my account app. how to uncheck diagnostic data option ? thanks.

I believe it is an option inside of that app actually.

[Q] Google Maps alternative, I despise advertisements...

So today I used Google Maps to search for a location. I did not appreciate the ads at the bottom of the search results.
Is there a way to disable the ads? Shall I just reinstall Sprint Navigation(telenav is good) and use that instead?
Thank you thank you
edit: should have noted that i do use the turn by turn nav. so an online, gps enabled option is what id like. ill check out the option you noted, t12icky0
i had the same issue..i just didnt like Google maps. went through many different programs but eventaully ended up getting an APP called " IGO"...its an offline as well as online map directions service. you would just need to download the maps for you state(or any state).
ITS GREAT because you dont need an internet connection as it can run the maps and such offline unless you wanna use GPS(or anything else).
Where do you download iGo I don't see it in the market??

I'm pretty sure you're going to need root to use that method.
No root required to disable apps. However, to remove them, then the phone needs to be rooted.

Subject line of the thread linked says Root not required, but sure!
Tried it out just now, thanks for linking it @blkghost22, I've been trying to find a way to disable certain things and this did it!
Stock Music app sometimes comes up when I connect my phone to the car via Bluetooth, and there wasn't any easy way to disable it
I also recommend going to Filter, typing ATT, and disabled all that crap too - I've done everything except Knox, Remote Support, and Usage manager.... someone needs to come up with a safe list of apps to disable to debloat this device, it would be very helpful!
Will this let me disable stuff like the built in browser? Because there are some aid that the phone just won't let you disable which I find really dumb.

It should, I don't know the title of it from an APK or package standpoint (I know it's called Internet, but I can't find it searching right now), but once you find it, you can disable it
EDIT - SBrowser is the name of it

Okay, I can't read. I'm sending thanks X 2 to Charlotte, NC.
I'm at 55 apps disabled so far, and I don't think I'm being all that aggressive with disabling TW / Samsung / ATT features..... Anyone know of a good safe list for this phone yet where we can really speed this thing up? Not like it really needs it, but there's lots of hidden crap on it running we know about but haven't been able to disable previously

Honestly, and I appreciate you looking to me for advice, I don't think I'm the best one to go off of, I know that nothing I've disabled was going to crash my phone, but it's all that TW / Samsung / ATT features like I was saying - the program allows you to filter by text used, even if in the middle of a package name, and that helped a few times tracking down some odd APKs
I read on Forbes that the S6 has 56 apps of bloatware on it, and I'm at 55 disabled apps, with a lot of TW / Samsung / ATT features still running, so most likely that was a list of what they could see from the app drawer or something....
Nothing from me. Just wanted to see if people actually tried it. If it worked then go thank the dev or programmer of that debloating app.

Com.tmobile.pr.adapt destroying my batterIES

So I temporarily unlocked my phone as I am currently on vacation in Europe. I am currently on Orange PrePay and I'm not sure if it is related, but ever since I left the US and unlocked through T-Mobile my battery life has been completely awful (7 hour stand by time.) the culprit is Com.tmobile.pr.adapt which has gotten as high as 35% battery usage. What can I do beside resetting the phone to factory? I don't want to lose all my apps as I don't have the bandwidth to re-download them. Thanks for your help guys
Try disabling it in Settings > Apps.
If it won't let you and you have access to a computer, try using Debloater to block it.
If you don't have a computer, there's probably a way to do it in Terminal on the phone, but you'll have to dig around for the instructions.
That package is part of the T-Mobile my account app, so perhaps disabling or blocking it would help too.

Indeed, you will need to use the debloater tool to block it. You can't disable it otherwise... It didn't hit my battery so much as OP however it caused mobile data to be enabled even though I had disabled it as I was using WiFi and was causing battery drain..

It's amazing how the carrier software is so bad it's ruining the phone. The good news is two dev teams have root now and both seem to be able to root all variants and possibly all software versions!
Glad it worked for you!
Debloater has the warning message on the T-Mo G4 variant,
so how is anyone claiming a "blocked" app or android component when it's not possible?
Blocked and Hidden are two different things, right ?

I don't think it's that cause I already had it disabled. I was able to freeze it using sdmaid, but don't know it's importance or why it's asking for root rights...
I rooted mine today and then used Titanium Backup to freeze it. Just use the search in TB to find it.
you need to freeze / delete myaccount. i did this without root and that app no longer runs and depletes my battery. you can disable with the debloater, or search for adb commands to do so. since i did that im currently at 22 hours on battery with 15% left (2h 16m Screen On Time).
I had the exact same problem as the OP. It was not an issue until i unlocked and roamed with the phone to another country and my battery would drain like crazy. It was driving me mad until i found what was causing this and then this thread.
It seems that this process constantly wakes up the phone, connects to mobile data, even when on wifi, and sends some info out. Evert few seconds, killing the phone's battery.
I keep getting this.
It keeps poping up but doesnt show up in battery stats

Just go here and make sure you install a rooted version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-g4/development/h81110n-stock-rooted-image-t3191038

What do you see at the bottom of the debloater window on your computer? do you have adb enabled on your phone? is your phone unlocked? If you see connected did you click the button in the top left that says "click here to begin/read device packages"
That app is constantly requesting root permissions because of the Phone status check. T-Mobile thinks that rooting the phone Messes the phone up.
In the app theres an area where the application analyzes the phone to tell you what's his status. Giving it root permissions would likely explode the phone with notifications

McAfee nightmare on my Note 8 (UK) Android 9

I foolishly activated McAfee which is pre-loaded on the European Note 8 running Android 9, big mistake. It has taken a dislike to one of my apps, which is important to me and have used for a couple of years with no issues. The problem is you cannot add to a safe list, or deactivate McAfee, have tried many solutions, but no luck. It is hell-bent on the deletion
The phone is not rooted.
Anyone on this forum got any experience or solution with this bloatware, there must be a way to deactivate without a full reset back to factory settings?

Will give it a try, although not sure will be able to locate this app, McAfee is nowhere to be seen anywhere, except the reference (powered by McAfee) when you do a security scan.
But there is some other bloatware I would like to remove, so will be a useful exercise.

You can download an app on Google Play called "package inspector" which will give you the app name so you can disable it.
For the device security use the line below.
com.samsung.android.sm.devicesecurity
I am using an app from Google Play called Package Disabler Pro+ (Samsung) that has successfully disabled everything I want. It cost a couple bucks but was well worth it.

Question Wifi Stopped working

So I've read up recently that this has been a problem on some Mi 11 units. Never thought it could happen to me. Using stable miui.eu roms, I just restarted my phone ( it was working perfectly fine before restarting then upon restart I can't turn on my Wifi. I've read that this is hardware issue due to overheating but I'm still hoping for a software fix before claiming warranty. Any one else encountered this before?
Try reflashing together with fromating data....
If that doesnt work last bet will be flash stock and claim warranty
First option:
Open Your Youtube App
Login with your Gmail account
Simply on the right-hand side where the profile icon is displaying.
Then Click on Setting - History and privacy option - click on Manage all activity - After clicking on above-left side - Click on manage Ads Setting.
You will see the Ad personalization option - just off the Ad personalization is OFF.
After that, you will not see the Ads in your youtube app.
Second option:
Use the AdLock app on your mobile it is a unique all-in-one solution that blocks ads on Android system-wide.

I've already had a screen replacement by myself. So, i had to open the device. For that reason, I dont think any warranty will be granted and sending a battery powered device outside my country is quite a hassle. Ill continue using the device with mobile data.
If only Bluetooth tethering could provide higher internet speed. It would have been a life saviour.
