Does anyone know if someone is working on Motorola's giant mistake of not allowing touchless voice control to work completely if you have a screen lock?
They are encouraging users to be stupid and keep their phones without a screen lock. This should be up to the user to determine what can and can't be done with their voice.
Can you use any sort of voice unlock with the voice control?

what about those little skip dots that come with the skip thing? i don't really understand them but i think those are supposed to do something. You're supposed to leave them in areas you commonly are, like car, and desk, bedside table sort of thing.
tried to post a link, but i'm too new. Google "intomobile hello skip moto x"
You can still make calls by voice, even without the dots, it's a setting in the controls. the setting is "make touchless calls without lock" or something like that. it's in the "help" section on motorola site. I think they took down access but should be back up any day now.
try this out...

They actually allow you to say your PIN to unlock your phone.
I think the op ASSumed it didn't work with a pin
I don't think you had that option originally, and if you look at the date of the OP, you'd see it was almost a year ago.

Correct. Wasn't option originally
Did anyone else know about this option? How do we disable such a thing? Seems pretty invasive.

I had it done on my M8. They have to send you a link to the app, and you have to install it, they can't just do it without your permission.
The app will also block any access to keyboard (when they used it, I had to type everything and it specifically states that all access to the screen is currently blocked when typing anything), it basically just lets them use the device a bit, and check some settings to make sure everything is proper.
Just uninstall the app after, and done.

Yup. That'd be a massive privacy breach that would open them to quite a few lawsuits if they had it setup that they could access your device and personal data at ANYTIME.

Did she offer to do it to the new device, or to the external SD?
If it was new device, I don't see how they would do that unless they were going to use ATT Locker (which I hate). If to external, then it's just a setting in the phone that'll move everything to the external.
Still, she would have to ask for your permission, which she did. I wouldn't worry about it, they can't get that data anyway.

I called att once when I had my s4. However I had that phone so locked down even they couldn't get a connection established. When they would try to connect they would get a rejection message and my phone would force close the app. They use this to trouble shoot our phones when we call support. They ask you to accept a text link which grants them control of your phone. What you see they see. I do not like this because they can see notifications like text messages in the status bar. You will also be asked to install an apk. I don't like this idea because I have private information on my phone. But someone who is not very literate with phones may need this type of support to fix their phone malfunctions.

I would love that too... I like how the poster left absolutely no information about that mod.
I came from the Note Edge I appreciate the option to upgrade to S6 Edge Plus after Lolipop totally ruined my phone. But I gotta tell you I miss the edge function. Why Samsung couldn't make that happen with this perfect phone I don't know. I'm only hoping with everyone thinking this phone is a gimick will make Samsung prove that it is not!
I don't have this phone...yet... but my first thought would be to try Tasker.

I've been working on a solution with Tasker but I can't get it to work. It seems to do what I'd need I'd have to root and currently I'm not willing to do that(phone is on TMo's Jump thing...) If you are willing to root, trailblazer101 wrote a mod that can do this Cocktail AutoOn
Can someone who's rooted try and extract com.samsung.android.app.cocktailbarservice and send me the apk? If I can get the intents from the manifest file I might be able to make tasker work. Never really tried anything like this before but I think that's what I need.

I use an app called "Edge Color Notification" from the play store that does this (if I'm understanding what you're looking for). Awesome app, and free. It allows you to choose what apps light up the edges, and you can choose the color for each app.

Any luck with your Tasker solution? What approaches did you try? I'm simply trying to emulate the swipe, but I can't figure out how to do up/down in a single shell command...it's doing two separate swipes. And I can't confirm they would work with the display off. Also, I've been unsuccessful in finding an intent/activity that I can use to launch the cocktail bar.

Sorry, no luck. I did get a hold of the file but wasn't able to find anything useful and I've since switched to the note 5 so I haven't played with the edge in a while.
I tried simulated swipes but they won't work with the screen off which is exactly what we need. I was going to have Tasker use an intent to fire up the service/screen but I didn't see anything in the apk that would help. I'm no expert by any means though so there's a 95% chance I just didn't see something right in front of my nose.

Somebody with a g925 did it, supposedly...IIRC he had it working on 5.0 already, then restored data with TB.
It was a long shot, but I tried getting it to work on my g928 unsuccessfully. I found in his manifest what I think is an intent to launch his mod...if I could get his mod to work on this device, I could use that intent...

It's incredible that SAMSUNG has not yet implemented this mod on our Galaxy S6 edge without root... very sad
I've been using a Note 7 port on my Note 4 and have really enjoyed the integrated Hiya into the phone dialer. Of course VZW has disabled it for their own. Hiya has a stand alone app but I was curious if there's a way to take the unlocked phone app and install it on our VZW note 8. Thanks.

I didn't know there was any sort of integration in the past with hiya. Do you have an APK for that or was your phone rooted? That might be the reason. I don't know how the Standalone app works and if you have to make hiya the dialer of choice for it to work properly. If it's anything like mr. number I'd be over it
Don't think you can install the phone APK since it is probably a system app. So short of flashing it or rooting (both impossible right now) I don't think you can get it. Hiya's standalone app is crap. Obtrusive, nags a bit, not integrated into rest of the system. One of the reasons I got unlocked for my T-Mobile plan is to have proper caller ID without T-Mobile shoving their Name ID down my throat at $3.99/mo

That's what I figured, it being a system app so no way to install from another version. Thank you for the reply. Smart going unlocked! If it wasn't for the carrier trade in value I'd have done the same. Enjoy!

If you're referring to the Hiya caller id/spam feature, it''s not just the phone app & there's a chance you may not even need it. It's enabled by cscfeature.

Reason why I'm still on T-Mobile. Verizon doesn't allow for GSM devices, aka unlocked bootloader phones. Really bothers my how even T-Mobile sells locked bootloader phones. Seems like Samsung and service providers don't care though since we don't represent the majority of consumers.
Here ya go guys, if you root then use this cscfeatures file, the caller ID and spam protection GETS ACTIVATED ALONG WITH EVERY OTHER FREE SAMSUNG FEATURE VERIZON DISABLED. Caller ID, search places, Samsung cloud, as well as a few others. Scroll through the thread and use the one Baggery77 modified for Verizon. It's a few pages in.

I did a dirty flash of the rom with that csc code and worked it worked with no issue. After a clean install, the option was still in setting andturned on, but it only says Identifiying caller information without giving a result on numbers it would normally work on. Any ideas?

I wouldn't recommend that. I'm certain that you signed something that says you are not supposed to add or remove apps, root, or do anything to the device without the organization's consent.
