Possible to wipe cache partition using ADB? - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I find it impossible to get into bootloader or recovery using the buttons so have been using ADB.
Equally I can't get into stock recovery menu using the buttons, so is there a way via ADB?
Phone is unrooted with locked bootloader.
Thanks

[Q] fastboot flash doesn't work

I am trying to burn stock ROM images on my Nexus One. I am trying to follow instructions in this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614850 but can't get fastboot to flash my ROM with the images nor erase the userdata partition.
When trying
-> fastboot erase userdata
I get "FAILED (remote: not allowed)" message and when trying
-> fastboot flash userimage.img
I get "sending 'userdata' (837 KB)..." but nothing happens even after 10 minutes... This is the same when trying to flash system and boot partition as well.
I can see my device and reboot it using
-> fastboot devices
-> fastboot reboot-bootloader
My HBOOT version is 0.33.0012 and I have this S-ON (can't quite figure out what this means)...
Any ideas?
When in the bootloader does it say HBOOT below the green text or FASTBOOT? You will first need to navigate to the fastboot entry (I think that's what it's called) and press the power button. Your commands should then work.

It says FASTBOOT USB. I can see the device and do a reboot using the fastboot tool in my PC - only the erase and flash commands don't seem to work.

Hmmm that's weird, I only got those errors when it said HBOOT. An alternative is to flash the phone using PASSIMG.zip. It will wipe the partitions you are attempting to; userdata, system, boot etc using a completely stock rom and is done via the fastboot menu.
Edit: This is assuming you have an unlocked bootloader?
Did you run 'fastboot oem unlock' first?

I am pretty sure my phone is unlocked as I see this open lock icon whenever I reboot it.

There was but I can't put my finger on it at the moment. However I used this exact method a couple of days ago so it's still fresh:
1) Download FRG33 image format from here. Versions above this as far as I know cannot use the PASSIMG.zip method.
2) Rename to PASSIMG.zip and place in the root of the sd card
3) Reboot/boot to bootloader
4) At this point the phone will recognise the zip file and check its contents.
5) When prompted press the volume button to confirm.
This will return you to stock (Minus the recovery but from the sounds of it you don't have a custom recovery image).
You have to extract the FRG33 file and then rename the new file passimg.zip
OK thanks - the PASSIMG.zip thing did the trick. Now I'm running FRG33 stock. Any tips on how I get from here as quickly as possible to Gingerbread?

Using fastboot, flash the custom recovery of your choice. Using that recovery, flash the custom GB ROM of your choice.

htc vivid unbootable system

hello,
I have a problem guys i was flashing a rom (rom holics) happens to finishing flash, and in the process of restarting the device, I think for hurry I gave ah update.zip and rebooting, the screen stays there with the htc logo in black and restarts and the cycle repeats, could enter the bootloader, but now when I go into recovery at the beginning and who wants to enter (see the logo and lettering recovery) but then again with the white screen logo vibrates and reboots, I can do? by fastboot usb I can do something?
re-flash the recovery?
I ask for your support please
In fastboot, flash the recovery again I recommend wxcrecovery and then flash the ROM again. If you are s-on then you have to fastboot flash the kernel.

Recovery was written fine. Now you need to reboot to recovery. Instead of
fastboot reboot
do
fastboot reboot recovery
Or just select bootloader on the phone, then select recovery
Now you're in recovery, flash the ROM of your choice. If you're s-on, you'll then need to reboot to fastboot and fastboot flash the boot.img included with the rom

If all else fails flash stock recovery, re-lock bootloader, run an RUU ( or flash a PH39IMG.ZIP file ), unlock the bootloader, re-root, flash a custom recovery and restore your phone from a nandroid backup or titanium backup. and all should be well.

Clear fastboot cache without computer?

Is this possible? It's near impossible to boot into recovery, apparently my cache is always being corrupted or something. I'm not able to get to a PC for a few hours but I need to get into recovery.
Fastboot is through the bootloader not the recovery. I'm sure you can get into the bootloader?

yes, I can get into the bootloader. But I can't use fastboot due to not being on a pc. I'm trying to get into recovery to flash something,but can't get into recovery, it starts to load, then restarts the phone.
try deleting the cache folder using a file manager

[Q] I cannot boot into Recovery no matter what

So I installed a ROM not for my Sprint HTC one M7....
Now it just says this. I do not know what to do. Also I tried to ADB push but it says "Device not found"
press the power button and it should enter the bootloader screen where you can select recovery using the volume up and down keys

i think you cannot use adb command on fastboot
adb can be used on recovery or on system rom only while on usb debugging
have your flashed a recovery? (fastboot flash recovery (recovery file name.img)

Exactly.
In fastboot the fastboot commands work, but not the adb ones.
Yea it sounds like your Recovery got wiped at some point. Grab a Custom Recovery .img (TWRP or CWM) and boot to fastboot (shown in your screenshot). Open a command prompt in your adb/fastboot directory, with the recovery image in the same directory, and enter the following:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery 'nameofrecovery'.img
Then reboot bootloader and try accessing recovery again.

Custom Recovery help

I used the CM app and Windows to unlock, and root my ATT One. I've tried several times to use Flashify to flash TWRP./ It will load and get me to the TWRP main menu, but it freezes and I have to hold volume down and power to get to recovery to reboot. Am I stuck with CWM?
