Double Tap 2 Wake Possibility... - Moto G 2014 LTE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Am interested to know what type of display the XT107x has and whether at some point DT2W might be implemented... :good:
Would someone who is rooted already kindly type the following into terminal emulator:
su
cat /proc/cmdline
and post back what the last line of text you receive says. It should read something like: "mdss_dsi_mot_XXX_720p_video_vX"
Many thanks

anybody???
edit: xt1077/8/9 users also feel free

Thanks for that. Unfortunately the jdi panels aren't compatible with dt2w AFAIK which is a real shame. Will be interesting to hear if anyone has the inx_v0 display...
More info on display types here for those who are intereted.

Display tint and auto-brightness problem?

Comment:
Hello.
Just received brand new Moto G 2014 5" version and comparing the screen colors to Moto G 2013 4,5" version, makes me quite depressing. I noticed, that 2014 model screen is noticeable darker and yellow compared the 2013 model screen, which is bright and blue, I just can't believe that 294 (2014) vs 326 (2013) ppi pixel density is so visible?
My first opinion was, that screen is definitely faulty, as I also noticed such difference once before, when my 2013 model was replaced - screen of the new one was much more brighter.
However, if all 2014 version screens are so dark, then we need a fix ASAP, as right now display brightness in auto mode is too low , it's difficult to use the phone in normal daylight, only manual brightness editing helps, but this is workaround which uses more battery.
I did sent same description also to Motorola forum, hoping that Motorola engineers puttting Moto G 2013 and Moto G 2014 model side by side, compare screens brightness in auto mode, and edit the firmware and publish it.
Right now I ordered a replacement as I just can't believe what I saw.

Update your device to latest Build version KXB21.85.23 size is around 120 MB
1. Touch issues solved
2. Auto-brightness issues solved.
3. Added Google Now Launcher
The color temperature on 2014 model is warmer (shifted towards < 6500K) as compared to 2013 model (shifted towards >7500K). Its perfectly okay. And regarding display pixel density its quite obvious that the clarity is not that great as compared to 2013 model.

The update is already installed, but I don't see improvement. I can live with less colorful screen, but I can't live with much darker screen - http://www.upload.ee/image/4293011/DSC_0760-1.jpg
I think Motorola should adjust 2014 model screen brightness to same level as 2013 have. Or add option to adjust screen color ourselves, like some Xperia models have.
I never use auto brightness so I don't know about that, but my screen isn't dark at all
White balance is better with new moto g. I use both and with original moto g the white ballance is way to blue. I also have some backlight bleeding issues with original one. Autobrightness is set too low on the new moto g 2nd, especially in low light environments, but if you manually boost brightness, it is bright as hell.

Light Flow and Moto X 2014

Does the Moto X 2014 have a notification light? If so it doesnt work with Light Flow. Anyone know why?

The Moto X 2014 does not have a notification light. That's why it has Active Display instead.

Ok then ill uninstall light flow
There actually is a green LED beneath the speaker at the top of the phone but its only used for battery related stuff. I contacted the dev about this yesterday, he said it would probably need root to work for notifications, though.

Yes it is normal..
The led diode is placed a little bit deeper inside the front panel. In comparison to the 1st generation moto G.
Which has a different setup..

Got the same thing, just at the lower center part. But it is only visible under certain circumstances. Not a big deal for me tough.

Moto X 2014 LCD WaterMark

My friend have just bought a Moto X 2014 At&t variant with Lollipop 5.1 installed in it. I noticed a weird thing. On its display, it has water mark of Motorola logo and and some other Text and Icons. A screen shot is also attached. I have searched over internet and unable to find the solution.
Any body know why is that so as another friend told me that it is a sample unit and its display (Panel) has these watermarkings.

Yes, that's probably screen burn-in. It's a very common problem for oleds. There's no solution, it's a problem with how these screens work.
If it's a new phone, I'd suggest he returned it.
