[Q] Battery problem or normal? - Moto X Q&A

My phone has had boot problems lately, and I'm wondering if it is a hardware issue....
I've charged the phone when it is turned off (meaning that when you tap the power button, the white screen with the battery icon pops up). I've charged it to 100%, unplugged it in the morning, and when I come back at night, the phone is at 0%.
Does that make sense? Is the phone not really off if the battery charge screen shows up when you plug it in?

If it's draining from 100 to 0 in a day with the power off, it could be hardware for sure. As long as you're sure it was full when you unplugged it.
Try with it on and install gsam. See how long it lasts on...
And what gsam says before its dead.

Battery failure or soft/hardware glitch?

My Kaiser never had great battery life, 12 hour max.
But nowdays its just ridicilous, device turns itself off during calls. This is normal due battery failures.
But the real question that I am asking: Is it normal that battery indicator is not accurate at all? Ill give a few examples.
1) I charge the battery overnight (7 hours). When I wake up, it says 100% battery, but I notice that orange LED is not lit (not charging). I restart the phone, still 100%. I shut it down, remove battery, plug it back in, start the phone and it says 80% battery? Has the phone stopped recharging when it hit 100% the first time?
2) I'm making a call. 70% Battery. Phone shuts down. I restart it. Battery 70%. I shut it down, remove battery, plug it back, start the phone and it says 0% battery.
3) Battery 10%. I charge it to 100%. Shut down, remove battery, plug it back in, restart phone. Battery 75%. Recharge it to 100%. Shut it down, remove battery, plug it back in, restart phone. Battery 85%. Recharge it to 100%, repeat this few times and I finally get to "real" battery charge of 95%. And the phone stays on the whole day.
Seems that my phone is a BIT too optimistic about the 100%
I'm just hoping this is all about the fact that the battery is dying. Ordered a new one few days ago.
Same problems with WM 6.0 and 6.1.

Looking for a battery recalibrate hack...

Hiya,
I was poking around the forums a couple days ago and I stumbled across a hack that recalibrates the phone's battery STATUS, it doesn't do anything about helping battery life or anything.
Last night when I was about to go to sleep I had a battery life of 32%. I plugged in the phone, and immediately restarted it. When it booted up again, I kid you not, it had 63% battery life. I turned off the phone while plugged in to see the battery icon, the one that shows.the battery status while its charging with the phone off, and indeed it showed around 63,65%.
Anyone know where I could find this? I think its buried somewhere on the forums.

THIS WILL HELP RECALIBRATE YOUR BATTERY SO YOU DON'T HAVE THAT ISSUE
1.Charge till full when powered on
2.power off
3.charge till full again
3.boot into recovery(adb reboot recovery or Power off the phone and then hold the volume up + Volume down + the power key. When it goes black the 2nd time release the power button and keep holding the volume buttons.)
3.wipe stats by going into Clockworkmod recovery -> advanced -> wipe battery stats.
4.boot and continue to use as normal
Heres 1 from another board:
""So, you are having trouble with your battery seemingly draining too quickly, especially after having flashed many ROMs/Kernels/etc...
It is possible that the problem (or part of the problem) is not necessarily the phone using too much power. If this is the case for you, you should see some results from doing the following:
1. Connect the phone to the charger with the phone powered on, and allow the phone to charge until it shows 100%
2. Disconnect the phone from the charger, and power it off.
3. Reconnect the phone to the charger with the phone powered off, and allow the phone to charge until the battery indicator shows 100% (you can use vol-up/vol-down to make the indicator come back up when the screen goes to sleep).
4. Disconnect the phone from the charger and power it on.
5. Once the phone is powered completely on, power it off again and reconnect it to the charger until the battery indicator shows 100%.
6. Disconnect the phone, power it on, and use it.
You should only need to use this sequence one time.
Hope this helps.-Joeybear23"""

i have this bug, too !!!
Please help
This battery bug is a known problem for quite some time, it can have different behaviours from user to user but basically, when you restart your phone you lose around 10% of battery, but the battery power is still there, for example you can charge it to 100%, restart it a couple of time and feel the real power of 50% battery for 1 day
Me and anders tried to repair this but with not too much success, i could say the simptoms were aleviated but that's pretty much it, the battery driver seems to me to have been developed in an internship, has lot's of TODO and FIXME in the sources.
Hope this helps
so, i can't fix this? i go to buy a new battery...

[Q] p7300 not charging anymore after flashing rom

So I was able flash this Rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2398003 with out any hitches. As soon as the power level goes down to 15% I plugged in the charger while Tab is turned on. It does not indicate that it is charging. So, I turned it off while plugged in. the battery logo comes up and says that it's at 100%.
I turned it back on, now it says it's at 12%, I turned it off and left the charger plugged in for about 5hrs. When I checked the screen the battery logo says it's at 100%. when I turned it on it was at 100% but was depleting the battery fast. I turned it back off, now the battery logo says it's charging. I left it for 30mins. and turned it back on. it's at 8% and cycles from "connect charger" to "charging". Now the tab is dead, it wont turn on. It doesn't even have enough juice for me to restore my back up.
Please, can anyone tell me how I can fix this. I would really appreciate it.

I was using this ROM for a long time and I flashed it over and over without facing any battery problems
so I would say that flashing that ROM caused a battery calibration problem, but sense you can't even charge when your tab is turned off
so I don't think this is the problem
the only thing I can think off is that you should try another charger [I read: cycles from "connect charger" to "charging"]
and yes this might happened, and if you don't have another charger, connect it to your computer for around 5 hours, that would do it
I am currently connecting my tab to the wall, waiting for it to get to 4hrs. I saw this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1861229 and am following it right now I hope this works. If it still does not work, I have another charger for the exact same model I could use.

[Q] Z3c turns off all of a sudden during charging

Hi,
My Z3c recently suffers this problem that the phone may turns off itself all of a sudden,
I have rooted it few months ago and it's still running 4.4.4 until now.
It first happened a day before, I charged it for a while (not for long perhaps half hour) and then unplugged it from the charger to browse some websites before sleep, but then it turned off automatically without any notice, I tried to turn it on again but it just showed me the 'Sony' and then gone black screen again, I thought it was battery running out so I plugged it back to charger, it showed that 48% battery left, then I tried to turn it on (both volume button+power on button or pressing power on button only) again but still nothing just blackness, so i just simply charged it and went to bed. I checked it the morning after, still couldn't turn on, so i unplugged it, waited for like couple hours then finally I can turn it on but the phone only got 16% battery left.
It happened twice today, blackout during charging, unplug it from charger, wait for like 30 mins ish then it'd be okay to power on.
when I try to turn it on or force power on it, it'll still vibrant as usual but just nothing to show on screen when the problem occurs
does anyone know if it's hardware or software problem? would that be solved if I just factory reset it or I must take it to sony care centre?
