I'm interested in the above mentioned case from Swiss Mobility. Anyone here with experiences to share with this case (used together with X1)? I can't find a distributor in Europe - anyone knows where to buy it in Europe? (I know BestBuy has them, but the nearest store is 6000 miles away and shipping is twice the cost of the case). Swiss Mobility's web site hasn't worked for some time. Anyone knows what's up with that?
http://www.xperiadepot.com/swiss-mobility-legion-smartphone-case/4A80A3757.htm
They ship to Europe with courier service (3-5 days) for 25 usd. same price for the case so I suppose its worth it if you want to order together a couple more accessories.

Looks great, too bad it's unavailable!
They are probably unavailable because Swiss Mobility went under the radar.
How exactly are carrying cases worn?
I've seen people wear carrying cases only a scarce amount of times, and I totally forgot how people manage to wear these.
I have a carrying case for my phone (not the Xperia), and it is so bulky! It's for the Samsung SCH-i760 btw. Anyways, so this is how I wear it: I basically use the "clip" to clip onto my belt, but I notice it is so bulky.
So when I usually wear shirts that cover almost pass the fly/zipper of my pants. And when I try to pull my shirt down to cover my pant, it covers the damn thing, and it looks like I got big tumor on the right or left side of my stomach.
So then I clip it on my pocket, it looks better, but now the pong hangs more loosely. It's kinda funny how these carrying cases rarely have a model for them to wear the carrying case, this is because companies know that it's freaking ugly to carry these things, ugly = no sales.
So if I am doing it all wrong, and if I am wrong that it's freaking ugly, then tell me this: what is the proper method of wearing these damn things?

Tuck your shirt in.
beware magnets
that swiss case uses a magnet, when i had a case that used magnets i found that when i got a call the phone would wake up and as the phone passed by the magnet when getting it out it would think that the slide had been activated and rotate . by the time this happened i could not answer the call in time and it went to messaging.
This may have been more of an issue with some of the earlier roms that I was using that were quite slow to rotate.
you might be able to work round this depending on the strength of the magnet and/or what orientation you put the phone in the case.
I bought a case that is secured by velcro to avoid this problem, however a couple of months later the velcro has worn out and does not stay closed. I may get my old magnet case out again and see if the new faster roms are better at coping.
i want get this case so long already where i can get it?

I always wear a belt so...
With baggy shorts you can wear the phone case backwars and have the clip facing away from your body and the phone more or less in your pocket if you wish i suppose...
put on some weight and tuck it under your belly ha ha
but serious i only use a case when i'm in work as i do manual work and tools go in my pockets... most the time my x1 is in my pocket.....
If you wear a suit jacket, it clips onto your pants fine and the suit covers the device without looking like you have a "tumor"
If you ever have to take your suit jacket off...well, then you have a device clipped onto the side. But with proper slacks and tie, it doesn't really look out of place.
From what I have noticed, most people who use these kind of cases are the ones who tuck in their dress/button-up shirts.
I prefer my pocket....

Is than an X1 in your pocket or are you horribly deformed...oh, wait, your avatar says everything.
I use the sonyE generic case
it got a clip but mainly keep it in my pocket
as it's kinda hard to get off when I put it on
the side of a pair of pants
and don't even get me started on having it on a pair
of boxer shorts
I wish I dared wearing one clipped on the belt every day... it is so practical, esp when you like me always have the shirt tucked into the jeans/trousers. But it looks kind of silly, right? So I only use it when I travel and really need it because I then carry several phones, plus it's a pain if the phone drops out of the pocket when your'e cramped into a small taxicab in some foreign place.

For any one who likes their Case Mate cover on their iPod and other products, you might find that the current HD2 cover by Case Mate DOES NOT fit the TMO-US model which is 1.5mm different. I think if Case Mate receives a spark of interest for this item through phone calls from TMOUS HD2 owners, They may want to comply with the demand.......give them a call as I did. They close at 5PM Eastern Time
CALL CASE MATE at 1-866-689-3432 AND HELP BUILT DEMAND for a great product. I find it interesting that they show a cover for the iPad on their website BEFORE its is even available for purchase but no cover for the best phone on the US market.

They, in fact, do make it......for the "international version" HTC HD2, NOT TMO_US HD2.

Look at the bold print just above the price.
If it is available, please enlighten us at where this elusive item is to be purchased.
Hi all, here is a little warning from me and Beards, who purchased the Case-mate barely there silver chrome for out international HD2.
I already returned this case. It was really a bad experience. Although it looks very nice, thin, save the slim design for HD2, unfortunately, it was a nightmare to take the phone out of the case. If you want to take the phone out often, or you are the type that like to change case once a few days like me, or worse if your HD2 crashes or hang and you have to do a soft reset with pen, you really shouldnt buy this case. For the first time I put my phone into the case, and near 10' to take it out, it also nearly scratched all 4 rubber corners of my HD2. If I continue using this case, my beloved HD2 going to be just like the pics in Nightfire123 review, really terrible.
I really recommend not buy this case, if you dont want your lovely HD2 get scratches.
And here is Beard's opinion through our PM:
"When I received my case I was away abroad and it was my daughter who said she thought the case was marvelous.
However, since coming back home and having now tried the case I agree completely, it's an absolute nightmare to take off (only found this out the other day when I had to remove the case from the phone).
Only be grabbing one of the sides and pulling it really hard did I 'eventually' manage to prize it from the phone.
I shan't be returning the case as my daughter threw away all the packaging and it didn't cost a great deal.... I shall however keep the case so that I can use it to experiment against other cases."
U can check this thread from Nightfire123 to see how it will scratch your HD2 after using for a while

Your opinion is exactly what I like to see and I greatly appreciate your input!!! You make a very good point; there is no soft reset access from the front of the device. Also, the memory card is also not accessible. I'm agreeing with you; maybe I don't want this case.....Buuuuuut, if they did make changes for fitting TMOUS HD2, and take customer complaints on the design into account, the new design may be as to improve on the errors of the previous. Hey, I'm an optimist.
I started a discussion on otterbox's facebook page for a case...they said if enough people post their they could get a case into production. So lets get posting!!
I got this front paged on wmpoweruser.com so maybe people will see it
I'm in... please pepper there page on facebook with requests!!!!

Done. I've always wanted an otterbox case for one of my phones since I first saw the Iphone defender case.
Here's a survey put together by Otterbox Team to get input on a case:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/OtterBoxSocialMediaNewProductSuggestion
They seemed interested... excellent chance to impact design.
I like their cases, because they have a pretty good belt clip and are pretty tough.
THEY MADE ONE...for the Dell venue pro. That's right. They made a case for a phone that nobody has. But yet they have no plans for a case for the top selling wp7 device. WTF.
This makes ZERO sense.
Well... except I can almost bet you Dell get in on them making it since Dell's logo is on the back of the case.
Dell needs to worry about being able to ship out a working product before making a case for it.
Sent from my SGH-i917 using Board Express
Took the survey. Hoping for the best. I'll email them from work tomorrow as well.
Done
Took the survey, hope they follow through.
Screw them and their survey, they obviously don't care about the consumers, they made a case for the Dell Venue? and not the Focus, why because they think pleasing Dell is more important than pleasing the vast majority of people who would like this case for the Focus.
I for one will not beg them in a survey, I will never use another one of their cases again, that is what people should tell them not beg them to make a case for the most popular Windows phone currently in production.
The coffin is nailed shut..
..on this now-very-dead topic.
Otterbox will not be developing a case for the Samsung Focus. They've gone out of their way for the HD7, yay for them.
Here's their weak response on the 9-page thread of Focus owners pleading with them to do their jobs (posted on 1/27/2011 on the Facebook thread) found here: http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=54145863002&topic=16349#topic_top
Hi everyone. Unfortunately we will not be making a case for the Focus. Because the Windows 7 phones were such a new product, it was difficult to gauge which device would take the day. Unfortunately, we underestimated the demand for the Focus and did not design a case for it. With the amount of R&D time that goes into our cases, we just don't feel we can now deliver an option in a timely fashion. We apologize if we have disappointed our Otter fans - we do our best to idenfity which devices should get awesome OtterBox protection, but occasionally miss the mark.

They didn't "miss the mark".. they flat-out didn't bother with trying, IMO. They've had far more than enough time to look into this.
A real shame.
They have 265 posts in a few short weeks, requesting that they make this case. I'm at a loss.
I messaged them again the other day and they said there will be no case.

Well so much for Ottercase. Poor response to customers suggests that we should take our business else where and not look back. I typically never go back to a brand that doesn't care about previous customers.

Beatifully stated!
that company is more concerned with sucking off steve jobs than catering to us. oh well.
When I had my Note 1 I looked for hours for a case, couldn't find one I liked just just ordered a cheap crappy one until I could find one I liked, in the end I found an okay one, but was still cheap and just rolled with that. But it wasn't what I really wanted. Ending up selling the phone a few months later, not based on the case.
Today I have ordered my Note 2, and the same case problem has arisen. I've spent a good 2 hours watching reviews, searching the web and I haven't found anything I like. The one in this thread is okay: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2030149 But link was to US Ebay and auction has ended. I searched elsewhere but cannot find. But still would be like my Note 1, kinda cheap and just go with it.
But it's still not good enough. With the iPhone that I currently use, although not perfect, there are a number of top cases and is a little easier to pick a case. So my question is, is a case really needed? I'm not clumsy and rarely drop my phone, but always buy a case just incase. But looking at the Note 2 cases, I just cannot find one that suits my needs. Low profile, but good overall protection. Those otterbox cases are huge, plus the phone is huge itself.
I've looked through the "what case do you use" thread and I didn't see a single one I wanted to get.
A phone that big, you definitely need a case, unless you have hands like André the Giant.
You can't tell me that you perused the Note 2 accessories forum and couldn't find something that would suffice? I come across good TPU stuff on eBay all the time. Look harder, they are there.
Scott from DBA Cases is selling that case on his website if you are interested in getting that one. He has about 20 left. I dropped my phone once and it cracked the back cover, so I'm always going to be rolling with a case from now on.
I think that choice is up to you, but based on what you said I think you answered your own question. I'm in the same boat right now tho, except I know I atleast want some protection for the chrome trim. There are atleast 5 iphone cases Ive seen and would have bought if they made them for the note 2
http://www.dbacases.com/note-ii-cases.aspx
Dba cases sells em. Plus the owner can help you if u have any concerns.
If you want an awesome case (I have it for my S3, so I'm sure on the Note 2 it'll be huge), check out Urban Armor Gear. Their cases are awesome. Cases for the Note 2 are about to come out.

UK shipping cost is the same price as the case
Short answer, NO, you don't "need" a case. Whether you want one is up to you. All my phones run naked through the wilderness, and I have yet to have any break in the rare drop I've had. IMO It's a bit of insurance, and like extended warranties that stores, car dealers etc are always pushing I quit buying them years ago, and figure the money I've saved on all those little insurance policies will more than pay for whatever it is I have that may break, and I'll just buy a new one. Of course I am am in a stable financial position to be able to do that and if everything I own broke at once I would have issues, but that's my thoughts.

I feel ya its the same shipped to canada. Contact scott for a coupon or maybe buy tje jlg screen protector with the case to offset the shipping cost.
Just dropped my brand new Note 2 in the parking lot and cracked/spidered the entire screen. $200 through insurance for a replacement.
So yes, a case is worth it.
Normally I forgo the case. This is the first phone that I have one for. The thing is the chassis is made with %10 butter. It's gotta be the slickest phone I've ever held. If I could find a backplate that's made with that hard rubbery material and a kickstand I'd probably go with that.
I ordered that case from DBA Cases, thanks for the info or damages. Not sure it will fully protect even from a drop, but it's worth a go. Still a little disappointed by the lack of really good cases though. There doesn't seem to be that in the middle perfect spot like some other phones.
I have never dropped my phone. I can also say that a big part is due to the case. My cases usually add some grip. Just in case I ever drop my phone, the case is already on there. I never run naked more than the 20 seconds it takes me to take it off, clean off my phone for dust or debris, and then put on another case.
END OF STORY!
Don't be a fool, wrap your... Phone...
Once again, Urban Armor Gear is probably the best case you can get for the S3 and Note 2.
You need food water and shelter. You dont need a case.
It is a good idea though
swyped all these spelling errors from my galaxy note 2
It only takes one good drop and your screen could crack. The choice is based on the amount of risk you are willing to take (and if you have insurance)
God forbid you do actually drop it you'll kick yourself for not buying one....especially after writing a post about it!

I had a similar torrid time trying to find a case that I like and I agree that the bulk Otterbox adds totally turns me off. In the end I just settled for a standard TPU case until I can get my hands on a UAG.

Depends. A thin case won't do anything to protect against drops. It's more for scratch protection and for 99.9% of the people out there, it's just for style/fashion.
It depends. I've never used a case. I've had cell phones for more than a decade and I've never broken one.
You can't make it totally impossible to break your phone. But if you're careful enough, breaking a phone will be such a rare event that it will cost you less than all the years of buying cases would have cost you to try to prevent the rare breakage. And cases don't always prevent breakage anyway.
Beyond the matter of protection, some people prefer the aesthetics of cases, while others have the opposite preference. So it's really up to you.

I assume you have looked at Mobile Fun Galaxy Note 2 cases. They have about the best selection in the UK. I went for one of the Zenus cases. I have liked them since I first had one on my original Galaxy Tab. I like the one I have as it is quite low profile but protects nearly all parts of the Note. The only thing i don't like is that they have used a press stud for the closure rather than the magnetic clasp they used on my Galaxy Tab case.

EXACTLY what I say all the bloody time! The only thing I miss about the iPhony device is the sheer number of quality cases and accessories for it.
You know what, after having purchased multiple cases for all the phones I have used; GS3, GN2, GS2, GNex, N4 yada yada, I have come to the conclusion that with the exception of iP5, every single phone looks better WITHOUT a case. Just as the manufacturer intended it to be. Everything else just looks like an appendage. Sure, you run the risk of dropping your phone and breaking it, but then hey, you also run the risk of killing yourself every single day when you drive. Doesnt stop you from driving, does it? Doesnt even make you get a tank of a car just to be safe.
Here's to running butt naked :good:
