How do I go back to stock? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm done with CyanogenMod. It doens't work right. The other ROMs are too hit or miss, so how do I go back to stock? Not really seeing a tutorial.

flash the factory img via fastboot while youre in the bootloader. there are mant tutorials actuallu, and for every nexus device, its the same process, only different files to flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/guide-flash-factory-images-nexus-6shamu-t2954008

Rooting GE Help

How do I root an HTC One GE on a Mac? I'd like to do so before I set up the phone tomorrow. Done some googling and couldn't find an answer. Did my N4. Is it the same files/procedure?
Sorry for the duplicate post, but I realized I had entered the title in correctly.

you just said you did your N4.
procedure is exactly the same
or after you do fastboot oem unlock from the bootloader screen you can follow my tutorial for recovery and root.

Just make sure you get the HTC One recovery and not the N4.. based on your lack of knowledge, based on your multiple questions, I would hold off a bit though.. as far as I know there isn't a confirmation as to if the recovery from the normal One is compatible with the GE One. I could be wrong though

Thanks. I guess I'll hold off. I figured there had to be some custom files and that they arent all plug and play. Thanks for your help. I'll prob wait a couple weeks. I just wanted to do it immediately to avoid having to wipe again.

You don't need to wipe for a recovery. When you get the device and its good to go, go into fastboot and type
"fastboot oem unlock"
Then after you unlock it reboot into the stock recovery and do a factory reset.. then hold off for recovery. Once your unlocked you no longer are required to wipe for anything

On a mac? Just fastboot
Rooted using a combination of instructions. Pleased to say it worked. Only problem I have had so far is that on one occasion it told me I was not rooted, when in fact I was. A reboot fixed that problem.

Fastboot drivers for W8.1?

My bootloader is locked and I was trying to bump up to 4.4.4
Problem is I have to flash my kernel manually via fastboot and my computer isn't recognizing my X in fb mode. I've done manual flashes on Windows 8 before but its been a while since flashing and my laptop is up to 8.1 now.
So my questions: Do the fastboot drivers for the X not work properly on 8.1 and if there are new ones where can I get them?
I've already been to the moto site to download the Motorola Device Manager but it still doesn't fix my problem. Without the kernel the phone boots but its all kinds of buggy. Luckily I was able to Nand back to 4.4.2 and everything is stable. If you can help me that would be greatly appreciated... And if not then I'll just have to wait on Sunshine.

Sorry if that was not the answer you were looking for. I was trying to figure out what you did. Making sure you did not try and downgrade your bootloader. If you need to flash your kernel and your PC won't recognize your device why not use flashify app or similar to flash it without a PC?

I'm pretty sure you can't flash a stock kernel onto a locked bootloader device without using fastboot to do it. I haven't tried it but I'm also not trying to risk it. I was just wondering if the fastboot drivers were compatible with Windows 8.1 is all.

[Q] I heard you're not supposed to flash a custom rom until you decrypt?

Why is that exactly? I tried decrypting with wugfresh nexus toolkit and it bootlooped my nexus 6, could I flash CM 12 on the nexus 6 w/o decryption?
wrong section
1. Don't use a toolkit to root/flash anything on your nexus. Learn the ropes and use fastboot, there is no reason to use some toolkit. if you dont understand what the commands are doing there is no reason to be using a nexus or flashing custom software.
2. The only reason anyone states that is because if you encrypt you have to wipe userdata aka your internal storage to decrypt, its only to save time
3. This best belongs in the QandA sections, not original development.
Good luck with your nexus.

As @Circaflex said, don't use a toolkit. Follow this thread > http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/development/disable-forced-encryption-gain-root-t2946715
As a side note, if you use a toolkit and it bootloops you, before going nuts, try fastboot erase cache. That should solve your problem but yes, you are always better off to avoid the toolkits and do it through fastboot yourself.
You can flash a ROM if you're encrypted or decrypted. It makes no difference, the only difference would be what kernel you're using.
If the kernel is encrypted then it will only run encrypted. If it's encryptable then it can be either or and it'll leave your current encryption or decryption the same.

[Q] Still no 5.1 OTA?

My Nexus 6 was bought here in Denmark and its a 64 version. However i would really like to update it before i go travelling, as i just want the improvements with the 5.1 updates.
I have tried the "check for updates" button for like 1000 times as i dont want to clean install it, and just want to upgrade it with my apps etc.
Am i still the only one waiting for 5.1?

Sideloading is really easy though. Just a few simple ADB commands and you're done. Your choice though, I understand. I don't use toolkits but if you wanted to go that route, you could look into it. They make an already simple process even simpler. If you do use toolkits though, it is wise to still have a basic understanding of fastboot and ADB if you get stuck. *end PSA* Good luck with your choice and your traveling.

You can also open the factory image and fastboot flash each image separately. Just skip the userdata.img. Will leave data partition alone.

nexus 6 oem unlock brick

OK so i was going to flash back to a factory rom from CYANOGEN, but got bricked and it says I need to check the OEM UNLOCK option in developer options. the problem is, no matter what I try when I reboot I ALWAYS end up at the screen pictured below.
Have tried Wugfresh have tried SDK
cant even boot into recovery
please someone tell me there is a way to save this phone...
you might be screwed if you dont have twrp installed. try this..
fastboot format cache
fastboot format userdata
try booting first thing after, if not then try flashing twrp.
Maybe some more information too, like what EXACTLY you were trying to do. How did you end up with a locked bootloader? If the advice given previously didn't work, you are most likely bricked.

It's f...ing unbelievable that people still lock their bootloader while having a custom ROM. Just turn it in for repair and blame yourself on this one.

OK, here's the assistance you're looking for:
Request an RMA from Google, Motorola, or whomever you bought it from. That is your only option.
In wugfresh click return to stock, then click preferences button on bottom make sure to check all 3 boxes to force flash, when finished reboot phone and you should be able to go into settings to check the unlock option.
